Not good! A current trend I see other reviews here at this location is many do not get their deposit back.Even though we cleaned the apartment and washed all bedding; the owners claimed again another tenant did not deserve their security deposit back in full. They claim it took 3 hours to clean it…. I call BS! My mistake was not taking photos when we arrived since we left it cleaner than it was when we arrived. The other mistake- DO NOT just leave keys on table and leave! I should have had the owner come and look things over before we left and point out any “cleaning” that needed to be done

If i could give this place zero stars i would. Never seen such a disrespectful landlord who violates a tenants privacy. You could be sleeping at 3am and out of nowhere find the landlord(Joe) in your kitchen yelling.Save yourself the hassle and dont even think about contacting regency apartments.

I had a modestly negative experience with the property manager of the Regency Apartments building at 202 6th Ave NW, Rochester MN 55901. Because I never got inside to see the actual unit, let alone rent it, Im posting a merely mediocre 3-star rating. As part of my hunt for a furnished unit near downtown Mayo Clinic, I called Regency, and the property manager offered to email photos of the unit, which he did. The images showed a basic but acceptable unit for $950/month (approximately the going rate), but on a 1-year lease. A month-to-month agreement would cost $1,350.TL;DRFor those who know their stay at Mayo will be either short-term or assured to be a year, one of these options might make sense. But as a contract software developer, while I hope to be on the job for a year or more, from past experience I know my contract could be terminated at any time. Neither option of paying almost 50% more to be able to leave expeditiously nor being stuck with a one-year lease with no likely other job opportunities in Rochester appealed to me.I came downtown from my Airbnb on a Saturday to look at units, and when I called the manager to inspect the unit, he was about to leave to play golf, but he would show me the unit if I was sure I wanted to rent it. Well, I wasnt -- thats why I wanted to see it. Thereupon he went into a brief litany of all the people from around the world who rent from images only (implying that I should do the same), then offered to take a credit card deposit.I balked at this and went on to explain that a apparently similar close-by unit would rent for the same $950/month, but I could leave at any time with only a one month notice. He brusquely responded, Then take it and hung up on me. He was certainly within his rights to set whatever terms he wanted, but his attitude indicated that he might not be easy to deal with if I had a problem after I rented from him. However, he did post detailed and presumably accurate information about his units.More TL;DRIn Boston where I had lived, 1 year leases aligned with the school year starting Sept. 1 are the norm, and most properties are locked up during the summer. But in Rochester, I imagine that people come and go at irregular intervals all during the year, with rental opportunities continually popping up. For that reason, I see no necessity of renting any unit sight-unseen, even after discounting the scam potential. I have worked in different cities in the U.S., and I have always stayed for a week or two at an Airbnb unit fairly close to my work while I looked for something more permanent. It has worked well for me in the past, and I expect to move into the no-lease-required $950/month unit this coming week.

I needed a place to live - fast. I wanted to be close to Mayo and have a short term lease. Regency Apartments made that possible. The place is furnished with a comfortable bed, a kitchen stocked with enough dishes/pots and pans to cook small meals and it comes with a flat screen TV, cable and wi-fi. It has worked well for me and the folks in the office have been most understanding about my short term lease needs.

I feel obligated to speak about the service received by the Regency Apartment employees, which was second to none! Their business manager, maintenance and housekeeping went out of their way late in the day on Friday, so we could move in on Sunday. Yes it was an older home with older furnishings, similar to what the wife and I grew up with and yes, the place was nice, cozy and clean, except the basement which showed its age. We needed a fully furnished place and they provided everything; dishes, pots, pans, utensils, coffee maker and even a toaster and yes, all were clean! They also provided bedding and linens, complete with pillows and again very clean. The old leather recliner added the perfect piece of furniture that my wife needed. They jumped through hoops to get us cable TV, only for me to cancel at the eleventh hour so we could try using our Dish sling, then, when the Dish sling proved a little more cumbersome than we preferred, guess what, the staff jumped through the hoops again to get the cable going. Additionally, I was concerned about snow removal only to be pleasantly surprised when their crew showed up with equipment, shovels and sand. The latter is quite a feat when you consider how many apartment type homes they have, and equally a feat when they gather all the garage, which I think is twice weekly. On the business side of things, I write contracts all day every day and I can tell you their Terms & Conditions are not what I expected. Yes they are addequate to protect their needs, but they are not heavily biased or far reaching as most others rental agreements can be. And the very moment I was reading them, I could tell this is a fair and equitable business as they were not trying to legally bind my soul, rather they were trying to be fair. Additionally, the pricing was extremely simple; this is the rental rate and it includes everything (no additional or hidden charges) and the deposit was not a promise of blood, rather an adequate amount (about 1/3 of the rent) to ensure things would be left in good, clean, working order. In summary, I think they run a good business and are in it for the long haul and they know that reputation is the key to their success and apparently the owner knows the one thing, meaning, its not the business name or assets that makes a business great, rather, its the employees and their sevice that people will talk about and yes, this grape vine is alive and well and spreading the word!!!Thanks to all of you at Regency Apartments.Sam & Janice
