New to Rochester and I was looking for a barber last minute. I was fortunate to find GVIII Barbershop. I booked my appointment online and visited the shop later that day. Located in a vibrant part of town, the shop was nicely kept and the staff was welcoming to a newcomer. The decor is amazing! Shout out to MURCH, he did an incredible job with my cut and beard. He took the time to ask me what I needed done and provided me with awesome service. Will definitely be back.

First time haircut n beard trim in 10 years I booked with Jeremy but he was professional enough to reach out and suggest another barber since I had long hair true integrity imo. Jeremy was friendly and easy going. He took his time which i expected and appreciated, as Ive never been there before.Thre atmosphere ws a bit too dark and lacking, like the owner had rushed into the space without planning. There was no sink to wash hair in. That was the only reason i give it 4 stars.My haircut was 5 stars! Especially the MUCH needed straight shave to clean up the neck and edges!

I walked in here one day just giving it a shot. Multiple cuts later Ive never had a bad experience. Jeremy is always my go to, but that shows everyone in there can cut with quality. Good atmosphere, good people, better work. I highly recommend if youre looking for a new barbershop.

Keep in mind that this is coming from an eleven year old.I have gotten my hair cut here for a pretty long time now and I always love the job they do. I like how they make conversation to all their customers. When they talk they talk about relevant topics to todays day In age, they dont talk about non relevant information. I was referred to this barbershop by a good friend of mine. I was set my ways with my current barber however after he twisted my arm I gave them a shot. The service was excellent and the haircut was fantastic. Just moved to the area and scoped out this shop and got a cut by Amanda. They make you feel comfortable! Willing to chit chat, which for a loud mouth like myself, was amazing. They dont rush your cut, they take the time to be sure it is right! Even though I had no idea what I wanted; we talked about My hair and I put my trust in Amanda and the cut is amazing. Very LGBTQ Friendly. This is hands down one of the BEST places to get a haircut in Rochester, not only because of the talent, but the open minded and down-to-earth personality of the owner Gil. As a member of the LGBTQ community, I have always felt comfortable, safe, and included EVERYTIME I walk into the shop for my appointment. Subsequent staff throughout the years have also embodied these qualities, which keeps me happy and coming back.This is very important for most LGBTQ people, barbershops can be one of the places LGBTQ people especially dont feel included or even safe in, similar to the locker rooms in high school. Gil has always made sure I felt comfortable directing conversation when Im in the chair, and we grew to become good friends thru this working relationship.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this shop to my fellow LGBTQ family. Not only will you walk out looking amazing, but feeling amazing too from the welcoming and friendly environment. The staff and clientele all follow the lead and vibe of Gil, who is the epitome of what makes a modern barber GREAT.

NOT LGBT+ FRIENDLY!!! do not go here if you are LGBT especially transgender people. For the duration of my haircut the owner and another staffer were constantly discussing a previous transgender client consistently and intentionally misgendering and dead-naming them. The owner, upon realizing that he had gone to middle school with the client found their Facebook account and was sending the client pictures of what they (the owner) looked like in 8th grade remwremring having met the person pre-transition in that year of school. Do not frequent this shop unless you as well are transphobic.

I was given a haircut but someone who didnt know how to do a fade they needed help and completely handed me off to another barber in the middle o the haircut I still had the line a bowl cut I ended up guiding the next barber at the end I ended up going bald and on top they charge me I didnt want to cause a scene but I wouldnt recomend anyone to go it looks like new owners terrible terrible
