I canceled my account early June and almost two months later, was charged for another month of service. When I called to have this reversed, they claimed that they sent me an email stating I would be responsible for these charges. I never received that email. I was also told that someone had frozen and unfrozen my account after I had canceled (why? I didnt request this...). None of this made any sense, nor was there any communication to me around these charges. I am now disputing them with my bank. Would recommend you do business elsewhere as they are shady when it comes to the automatic withdrawals.
I went in for a tour today with the manager and left thoroughly impressed. You can tell that the manager cares about maintaining the facility. The equipment looked well-maintained, the gym was clean, the locker room was clean, and all of the staff didn’t push a membership sale on to you. Pricing is also incredibly competitive compared to other gyms. These alone are enough to get my business. I will be commuting from Uptown probably passing by at least 5 gyms on the way to go to this one.Well done, Gold’s.
Great staff! Was in town couple of days and service was top notch. The gym itself is spacious and plenty of equipment to get a great workout in.
Great customer service. Gm was easy to get ahold of unlike the waxahatchie locations gm . Thanks
Good gym, reasonable hours and pricing, no complaints about the gym itself. However, I do strongly believe that one of the staff stole a weight belt I had lost there. So for that, they get a star knocked off.
Great gym! I’ve never had an issue, always clean and the staff are phenomenal!
Gym is large and spacious. Theres plenty of equipment and I rarely wait for a machine, weights, or cardio. Price is fair for the amount of fitness options offered. Pool is still closed indefinitely, but the sauna is open. Ive never had trouble with membership, fees, payments, or communication with management. Other clients are friendly as well.
Great people and machinery. Theyve got everything you could want. Lost 65 lbs since I started coming here. Thanks for the tour, Jordan.
Please open the pool. Sauna open, but no pool. I need it because it’s one of the few ways I can work out due to surgery. The mask mandate is up and if the sauna is open I can’t imagine why the pool isn’t. Happy the sauna is open as I really need it to cleanse my body, but please open the pool.
My bf & I signed up with Golds Gym when they were doing the $1 enrollment. The gym started getting really busy and crowded at even 5 am - so we decided to cancel our membership and move to another gym. We cancelled our memberships in April, it is now almost June and Golds keeps charging my s/o a monthly fee when weve already EMAILED AND CALLED stating that we are cancelling. The manager with the name of Michael Roberts is incompetent and should not be in charge of cancellations as he didnt cancel my s/os membership when we stated we wanted to cancel. DO NOT RECOMMEND. They give you the runaround every time you call and state that Michael is busy and will get back to us. Its almost June and he has not gotten back to us and we are still getting charged. Do not get a membership here. Youre better off going somewhere else.
This place is great! Has just about every equipment you need and the Golds Fit classes provide that extra push that I need. I have been coming here since November 2020 and I love it.
Great gym. Couldnt ask for more!
I love this gym. The equipment is new and everything is clean. The locker room is nice as well I liked that there was large lockers I can store my backpack in and a hanger for my jacket.
Richardson has new equipment and large gym space!! It has many machines, traditional dumble weight lifting corners too!!
Great new management super cost friendly their new no commitment contract system is amazing!
People just dont wipe down machines but i wear full gloves for workouts.
This gym is NOT recommending wearing masks. This gym is encouraging members to NOT wear masks. The staff is neither helpful nor knowledgeable. I’ve been a member here for years, but will not any longer.I’m so disappointed.
Barely even pretending to follow the Dallas County mask mandate. Some of the trainers and front desk staff dont even wear their masks.
Great gym overall. Ive made this gym my bish or maybe the other way around. Its never too crowded, its very clean and I love the front desk everyone is so nice and helpful. I do have to keep telling myself the mask drama will one day end because it can be frusturating and distracting, as we all know. Patrons are all expected to wear it and staff are inclined to check, which can occasionally create awkward tension, but if the mask slips down or we forget to secure it after taking a sip you will be contradicted, or in other words, be put on blast and my super manly feelings get hurt..lol. But yes truly other than that the gym is next to perfect. Getting my manly feelings hurt occasionally is actually great for my ego run wild, while staff doing their job and doing it well for the sake of safety. One day we will look back and laugh at this nightmare, soon. Not soon enough though. My favorite gym ever.
Outstanding. I have a feeling to be treated like family when I’m here.
This is not a true Golds. It’s a rebranded Bally’s. They don’t even have typical golds equipment (Hammer Stength, Cybex, Free Motion). They have a lot of Hoist equipment, which in my opinion is some of the worst equipment in the industry. They have some Hammer Strength equipment but not enough to make the gym feel like an actual Golds. Golds used to be a staple in Dallas and they had locations everywhere. It’s sad to see real “Gyms” like Golds closing down and being replaced by “Fitness Centers”
Was a decent gym before it turned into everyone being harassed for not having their mask on fully, by the staff.
Reception person gave me wrong info that if I cancel the membership within 3 days then I won’t be charged but today they charged me for monthly fee.I asked them to refund the money since i canceled on the third day and i have not used their gym since then...but they are saying no for refund. Will never visit this gym again.
Its a hassle to cancel membership. They are dishonest. Joined on a promotion only for a $1 on a no contract month to month cancel anytime. They switched it trying to charge me for a contract membership. I called they dont answer the phone or you can leave a message. Thank
Great local gym, not too crowded. Robust selection of equipment. They have a pool and classes. Much bigger than it looks from the street.
Called today to restart my membership. They informed me that regardless of the pandemic they started charging me last month. Their excuse was that they sent out an email saying they were going to start charging everyone again. I did not receive an email and everyone is still being advised to stay home. Truly awful of golds gym to be taking advantage of people during this pandemic. My girlfriend and I have decided to take our business elsewhere. I would advise everyone to stay away from this gym. These people do not care about their customers and they are willing to take advantage of the current situation.
Great service, super helpful and accommodating. They have lovely things in there across many price ranges.
Great gym. Clean, HUGE, has literally anything and everything you could want, including a nice lap pool. Classes are included (body pump, barre, yoga, etc.) which is AWESOME & for an extra charge you can get access to the studio classes - cycling and Gold’s Fit (CrossFit). I think that’s really nice to be able to go ONE place for everything. They even have child care if needed. Everyone is nice in my experience. It is a big place so some may feel it’s not as “personable” but I know the staff well enough. The instructors and trainers are really knowledgeable and great motivators. I just want a place to work out, not social hour, so it’s perfect for me! Definitely recommend Gold’s Richardson!
Clean, well equipped, friendly staff
Been coming to this gym ever since the Plano one was destroyed by a storm. This Golds is superior - clean, friendly staff, excellent selection of machines, tons of various classes and bomb personal trainers! The AGM is considerably hardworking and always eager to please!
I love this Gold’s gym everyone is very friendly and the gym is always clean. The gym also has a wide variety of options for everyone. They also have good prices on Gold’s gear which I thought would be over priced!
Great gym and great amenities but now that they have upped their prices, it’s just ridiculous. I no longer get the sense that they are here to offer assistance to consumers that want to better their lifestyle. I am now sensing they are greedy and it really shows through their categorized memberships and how they have placed specific amenities, that were once free of extra charge, now at such a high extra cost. $100 extra a month to take cycling classes! It’s either $10 per class or $100 monthly for this, plus the base cost of a membership to the gym. I was floored! I was a member a couple times before and these amenities were at no extra cost and it was great, I took advantage. All I want to do is better my situation and get back to my fit lifestyle after I have my baby. Golds gym has now made it very limited for consumers, like me, who only want to better themselves without breaking the bank. This really sucks because they have wonderful class instructors, people who work there are great, and the facility is clean and motivating.
The members and staff are friendly and supportive. Good atmosphere.
Misleading senior citizens and using underhanded tactics to get signatures on contracts disguised as waiver forms for guests then refusing to issue refunds, among other integrity issues. Find another gym that wont rip you off then refuse to own the screw up.
My mother in law came to visit and was denied a day pass because her ID was not local. Paying 45 dollars a month I would hope the gym I go to would prioritize the health of their members and their families rather than prioritizing profits in their wallet. Very upset about their customer service.
Do not join Golds Gym. When I went to sign up I was told that I could sign up for a month-to-month plan instead of committing to an annual plan. When I called the gym to submit my cancellation due to concerns with COVID-19 they said I had signed up for an annual plan. In order to cancel I had to pay an early termination fee of $100 instead of paying for months membership fee as I was told at the gym. Completely unprofessional. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.
This gym did not take care of the Covid19 situation! I am frustrated that they did not communicate better about charging.
I have called them 3 times to suspend my membership due to the pandemic and all 3 times I have had to wait crazy amounts of time to talk to someone. Once I get someone on the phone they tell me that my membership is suspended and that I will not be charged again but the next month I still see a charge from them and so on. I would not recommend to join Golds gym to my worst enemy. Please stay away from these thieves. Oh and to cancel your membership there is a $100 fee!!!!
I’m from out of town and this is by far the best golds gym I’ve ever been to. It is clean, a lot of equipment all of which is new, sauna, and it was not super packed! Loved my visit!
Loved the gym, had to cancel my membership because of moving back in january. suddenly im being charged again after not being charged since january and being told i never tried to cancel
Sat on hold for 7 minutes with automated updates how I was next in line only to get sent to a after hours voicemail at 11:45am CST
Cool place
Organized, clean, private. Ive been going for over a year now. They have many group classes available.
It will require a legal team to get this place to stop drafting monthly payments, even when you go in person to sign the necessary documents to cancel your membership bc you are relocating 4h away. For almost 6m now Golds continues to reimburse me of fees only to draft again without my consent. Horrible business compliance capabilities.
Great gym!
RIP OFF..............RIP OFF THE ARE CHARGING PEOPLE 600 DOLLARS A MONTH FOR A PERSONAL TRAINER. I CANCELED 3 DAYS AFTER I JOINED BECAUSE OF THEIR SALES TACTICS ARE UNETHICAL. THERE IS A FORM I FILLED OUT TO CANCEL THEY SAID THAT THEY LOST THE FORM AND I HAD TO FILL OUT ANOTHER ONE ANOTHER TACTIC THEY USE TO TRY AND CHARGE YOUR CARD.I HAD OVER 400 DOLLARS IN CHARGES FOR NO REASON AT ALL, THEY SAID I OWE A BALANCE OF 43.00 BUT IF THAT IS THE CASE SOME OF THE CHARGES WERE FOR 100, 63, 89 DOLLARS AND SEVERAL OTHER CHARGES. RIGHT NOW THEY HAVE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST THEM FOR DOING THE SAME THING THEY DID TO ME TO OTHERS. ALSO THEY MAKE YOU SEND IN A CERTIFIED LETTER OR YOU HAVE TO GO IN TO CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP ANOTHER TACTIC THEY USE TO TRY AND GET YOUNOT TO CANCEL BY HAVING A SALE REP TRY AND STOP YOU FROM DOING SO. HORRIBLE AND UNETHICAL
Ive been a Golds member through 3 gyms. Started at Arapaho (which I still miss and think was the best of the 3), then to Plano, and now Richardson. While Richardson isnt as spacious or setup as well as Plano, the gym and facility is still really nice. Ive always had positive interactions with staff. One of the trainers (Dustin) thinks he has priority over gym members use of facilities, but outside of that its all been great. A few hiccups here and there with equipment. Mentioned many of them to front desk and most dont get repaired unless mentioned multiple times, but they do eventually repair the equipment. Id give it 5 stars with just a tad more effort and perhaps a slightly better layout and more stretch room (wheres the band stretcher that all other local Golds have had?), but overall Im very satisfied for the price paid. Id recommend to anyone looking for an affordable local gym.
Until today, I haven’t had a bad experience. While the locker rooms are a bit dirty and there’s mold constantly in the water fountains, I decided to look past that since it’s a public gym. This morning, Monday, the gym is supposed to open at 5:00 AM. I arrive around 5:03 and notice people are standing around the door. It’s locked and no one has unlocked it. It’s now 5:21 and it’s still locked. Extremely unprofessional and I’d be leaving if I didn’t sign a contract. Definitely do not recommend.
No Contract and reasonable pricing.
This golds gym is the worst in providing service I signed up for a year contact which they overcharged me $20 and refused to give it back, even though the GM told me he would. I was going back to renew the membership when the GM and the AGM were just flat out rude to me. They changed their stories like they were in high school! I hope this wasn’t a racist deal for POC! Cmon you guys gotta do better it’s almost 2020
I can’t say enough great things about this gym and all of the staff at Gold’s Richardson. I’ve been a member for a year. The amount of support that I’ve received is unmatched. The classes and coaches are outstanding.
I cannot say enough about the great experience Ive had here at Richardson, Golds Gym! Im not from here so I pay month to month and all my fitness needs are met my gym dues are reasonable and I absolutely love the gym !
I am extremely disappointed in the Golds Gym organization. I was a member of Golds Gym in Plano, TX for several years and a very happy client. However, on 24 Mar 16 hail took out the Golds Gym in Plano and clients were referred to the Golds Gym in Richardson. Going to Richardson and back would eat the majority of my workout time, so I called Golds Gym in Richardson and they offered to suspend my account for 6-months until the Plano gym was reopened.Despite this conversation, I kept receiving charges for several months and it took two more calls to Golds Gym in Richardson to actually get the account suspended and the membership fees charged for a closed gym refunded. From there, all was good until I looked at my credit card statement this month and saw Golds Gym membership charges again. I know the Golds Gym in Plano isnt open yet since I drive by there, so I called Golds Gym in Richardson to figure out why. From there, I was told that Golds Gym corporate office decided to close the Plano gym permanently. In addition, at the same time the Golds Gym corporate office decided to reactivate all suspended memberships for the Golds Gym in Plano since apparently someone felt that people should just go to another location regardless of convenience or notification. Both decisions were made without notifying or consulting with their clients, so the only way I learned of both decisions was after seeing the charges. The Golds Gym Richardson office told me they could cancel my account (which I did based upon their treatment of clients and lack of notification/consultation); however, they told me I had to call Customer Service to get those charges refunded. This is very disappointing since Golds Gym Plano made me feel like a valued client and Golds Gym Richardson and the Golds Gym corporate office made me feel like just another payment.
For the love of god STOP PLAYING SHAPE OF YOU!****Update***** They have updated their music not totally in love with it but its a good mix of everything. Best of all they stopped playing shape of you. Thank you golds gym management!!
Very clean! Helpful staff, not overbearing.
My location in uptown Dallas closed permanently, they transferred me to this location, was far and I didnt like it.. Cancellation was a hassle, they never answered there phone call and they sent me to collection eventually. Bad business
Great Gym. We chose this gym because they have the most affordable child care in town, and our kids love it!! They have fun while we get a great workout. The trainers are all great and the staff are all super friendly! Its very clean and all the machines work great.
Great gym! Everything is clean and the equipment is kept in great condition!
The whole mask thing is kind of annoying but other than that its good
I am pretty picky when it comes to the overall gym experience. I do not agree with annual fees and defintely need a gym that stays open past 10pm. I truly enjoy the layout of golds gym to say the least. There are so many different sections that target certain areas such as the free weights, cross fit or as they say gold fit, group fitness, locker rooms and family rooms, lap pool, hot pool, and sauna, stretch section, a cinema cardio room, and so much more. There is childcare available and a cafe too. Enrollment comes with a complimentary 3D body scan to help you get a better picture of where you stand and implement goals. This Golds Gym is not like the others...it is clean and yes, staff look, dress, and speak professionally. On top of this there is a mix of people...people from all walks of life...seniors, pregnant women, body builders..anyone that you could think of. I really enjoy working out here.
Good equipment, friendly staff, and always clean. There’s even a movie room with a bunch of treadmills.
I had enjoyed my time at Golds Gym until they continued to charge me for 6 months after I cancelled my membership. That’s not good business in my book. Beware and continue to check your credit card statement even after you have cancelled.
They posted their new hours out front. They are keeping the equipment clean, requiring the wearing of masks and practicing social distancing
Do not get a membership here, or any other golds gym. They do not tell you that to cancel your membership you have to physically go into the gym or send a certified letter. You can not cancel over the phone or online. If you dont send a letter or go into the gym, they will harrass you and continue to charge you even after they say your membership is cancelled. Stay away at all costs or at the very least proceed with extreme caution.
I have been a member with Golds for about 3 years and I love the gym. My boyfriend came home on military leave for Christmas and Cesar made the process of getting him a pass very easy. All the staff is very friendly, making my drive from North Plano worth it!
Nice gym and well-designed for a workout. It has everything you need and the staff was pretty awesome. If it wasnt a little too far away from my house, Id be here every day.
This is a new facility as such everything is in great condition. If you are serious about working out and competing youll love this place. They have a dedicated cross fit area, cardio studio, aerobics class, spin cycle, free weights, pool etc.
I have not been here. Somehow they have my phone number and I get collection calls, voice mails and texts everyday. I can not even determine which location is generating this. I have tried numerous times to return the call but cannot get past the automated system to talk to a representative. I did finally talk to a person at one location and he tried diligently and kindly to help. But he was unable to do so.
Absolutely the worst customer service. They love to help you get a membership then they never want to speak to you again. If you ask questions they make it obvious you are annoying them. Never had a problem with 24hr fitness.. wow.... I regret switching to golds
This gym is clean and has everything you need. I was a long-time lifetime member, and I prefer this particular Golds location. The negative reviews are hilarious to me. Its a gym..Positive minds have positive results.
Dont ever get a membership here. Read the contract its a horrible horrible contract. Other gyms allow you to pay month-to-month and without a contract. Go there
Great location overall! Prefer it over all the other Gold Gyms in Dallas because of the space layout. Although staff changes often, they are always the friendliest team members and always willing to help with any situation.
Attempted to cancel the membership and personal training. Was promised a full refund. Have yet to see any of the refund and was charged a membership fee after cancellation. I have been a member of Golds in the past and have never received customer service of this poor quality. I was even told by Yolanda, in customer service, that there was no manager to talk with. Im not sure what has happened to Golds but Im glad I canceled before I could experience any more bad service. Still waiting on my refund Mario...
Love this place, always clean and well taken care of. The facility itself has all the equipment you can expect from a gym. And some.
Had a bad experience with this Golds Gym. Just moved in from out of town and hadnt switched over to a Texas DL yet. Showed the front desk guy my apartment lease contract (bigger guy). He was extremely rude and made snarky remarks. If youre going to have a customer service job treat prospect customers with respect. The sales rep was really pushy and nasty. On the way out he was like oh yeah since youre not local residents you cant come back to use your 3 day membership since youre not local residents. Overall nice facility but the staff is below par. I would recommend going somewhere else.
Things rae going down the hill fast. High coach turn-over. Systems are always down, issues with phone apps. Staff seem friendly on surface. Best equipment selection in the area though.
After my 1 year commitment I wanted to cancel the membership, so I went in person to the gym at the beginning of April and they told me it was cancel. They kept withdrawing money from my bank til June almost $78. After 2 more trips to the location and several phone calls they return just $38!
Golds Plano was literally Gods gift to mankind. This place is nice but incredibly tight fisted on letting friends visit for even one day. Lifetime gives you 12 a year. Total trash to pay $15 for one visit when I have paid $40 a month for 8 freaking years
F Better Business Bureau rating! This is a quote from the BBB website: BBB has identified a pattern of complaints from consumers that allege sales misrepresentation from Golds Gym employees. Specifically, a high volume of complaints allege that Golds Gym leads consumers to believe that they can cancel at anytime. When these consumers subsequently try to cancel their membership, they are denied and continue to be charged because of a clause in the membership agreement. This is EXACTLY what happened to me.Be VERY cautious of signing a contract here. Golds Gym has an F Better Business Bureau rating for a reason. Deception is a standard sales practice. I asked for a month-to-month cancel anytime membership which the salesperson (Mitchell Snow) advised was the agreement in his computer screen. I was asked to sign the digital keypad to execute the agreement which I did. Come to find out it was a YEAR LONG CONTRACT. Management (Mario Tarquinio) was not bothered by the deceptive practice but instead insisted it was my fault for trusting that Mitchell was being honest with me:Do yourself a huge favor and find a local gym without institutionalized fraudulent sales practices.
Not welcoming at all didnt even use my 3 day FREE pass
I love golds gym, this locations is going downhill. The new manager is not cool, and staff complain about her also. My friend was not liking her, she left her kids at the kids club with the amazing young ladies (Liz and Alicia) but we both switched locations because of the manager. Giving golds gym a bad name.
Great staff, super clean, and treat members with respect.
Without a doubt one of the cleanest gyms Ive ever been to. Im very impressed that they have 3 squat racks and even a deadlift platform. They also have plenty of functional training equipment such as kettlebells and bumper plates. The only thing Im a little bummed about is the rules: they dont allow dropping weights, chalk, or grunting. But hey, cant have it all. Overall, not bad at all for a commercial gym!
So many better gyms dont waste your time and moneyEven planet fitness would be better
This gym is great, friendly staff and instructors. Would have given 5 stars if there were more body pump classes and body attack classes available.
Before i bought the membership i asked if i could bring a guest with the membership. He said yes i can bring as many as i want whenever i want there is no limit... ? So i bring my friend back the week after and the guy at the front desk tells me that i cant..I only go to the gym for Julias Bodyjam class on tuesday nights. And i was told $30 a month but im paying about $45.Switching as soon as my contract is up.👌
I had a problem related to the Plano Golds Gym which closed in March due to storm damage. Mario and Mike helped me resolve it as soon as I contacted them. Excellent customer service!
Group exercise room is far hotter than rest of the gym, floor gets slippery from humidity, horrible acoustics. Great instructors but I am canceling my membership. My first two Gold gym locations just closed up so this is my third location and it is not convenient either. Very disappointed in Golds gym.
After 5 times attempting to cancel my membership 2 times in the club they finally quit taking money out of my account 10 month later and after 2 in office visits and 4 phone calls. Never returned a message and was always toldNo one can help me but will have them call me back.
Great gym and the staff is awesome
Very clean. Well laid out with plenty of cardio equipment. Straight-forward no BS sales / enrollment process.
Soooooooo disappointed. They CHARGE for their spin classes now??? Ive been a member of Golds gym for 10 years now, and their spin classes have always been included in your monthly membership fee. Now, they have upgraded and are charging 45.00 every 2 weeks ON TOP of my monthly membership fee for spin classes. And that is the only option you have!!! They dont give you the option to take the old, free spin classes OR upgrade to the new, you only have the option to pay to spin. So, I can either pay 1200.00 a year for something they offered me for free just a few months ago, or I cant take the class?? Unbelievable...
They will not allow changes to our membership without going into the gym. I want to drop three of our five family members and cant do it over the phone. I was told I will have to come into the location and sign paperwork, but the membership is month to month - no contract, so that makes no sense.
Love this flagship gym! All of the equipment, pool is well maintained, all of their staff is sweet and accommodating, especially Rick Onstott.
This is a pretty cool gym. I will admit I came here reluctantly as the Golds on Preston was damaged severely in a storm and this was the next available locatiom. In any event the gym is always clean and has alot of places to park. Theres new equipment and enough space so I dont feel like Im crowded when I work out. Im really seeing results since I started training with one of their trainers Austin B. Usually I hate trainers cause they try to guilt you into buying sessions. With Austin however it was totally a no pressure situation. He took the time to understand my challenges to becoming stronger, fitter, better. Long story short Ive seen better results over the past few mths than I have in the past few years. I am by no means athletic but hes got me benching and squatting like I never thought I could. Pretty good experience I must say! 😊
Just had a great workout in GoldsFit class!
Clean and very friendly. Great location and all new equipment. Gym for everyone. 👍🏻
