Terence Richardson was punctual, very knowledgeable, thorough, friendly and patient. We didn’t feel as though he was in a hurry to move onto another job. He answered our questions and let us know how our house was treated step by step. They were able to schedule us right away.

Bug Out is phenomenal! From start to finish, the entire process was so efficient and easy. Robert is so kind and helpful, and he was able to get an exterminator to my house so quick! The exterminator was on time, gave a super thorough inspection, let me know what he was doing and why, and was really honest with me throughout the whole process. I have never been so impressed with an exterminator company before, but I love bug out!!

I have been a customer for several years and appreciate the efficient service. I feel confident about my home knowing that it is inspected for any signs of termites annually and the wood in the crawlspace is monitored for moisture. I had a dehumidifier installed by Bug Out two years ago at the technicians suggestion, and it has been a good investment. The air quality is better in my home because crawlspace moisture levels are low.

We have sen able to enjoy our backyard all summer in the evenings because of the mosquito control. They always give adequate notice before arriving which is quite helpful. My whole neighborhood uses them!

I reached out to BugOut 14-Jul, regarding a new bee hive that we noticed on the corner of our house. We had just had our quarterly service on 10-Jul and the inspection report reflected No major pest issues observed around exterior at this time. Weve also had continuous quarterly pest service in this home since April 2017, starting back when the company was Smith Exterminating. I followed-up multiple times over the past week for an update on the bee removal. When we were finally able to connect with a BugOut manager he informed us that this issue would not be addressed in any capacity by their company. The manager we spoke to today mentioned that bees were not one of the pests managed through BugOut and that they dont even have chemicals to treat bee infestations, which is incorrect because I have an Inspection Report from April 2021 showing that carpenter bees were identified on the front porch and treated with Delta Dust. Additionally, the Total Home Pest Evaluation sheet on BugOuts webpage states that exterior evaluation includes spider webbing, mosquitos, stinging insects (wasps, hornets, bees, etc.) I do not understand why BugOut refuses to take any accountability or offer assistance with this pest issue, especially since weve been loyal paying customers for over 4 years! Furthermore, deeply disappointed/frustrated that we were also lied to about bees not being a pest that can be managed by the company when we have documentation showing this isnt the case. Our regular pest serviceman is great, but the new BugOut company management is horrible. We would not recommend their services. We would like to be contacted ASAP to discuss this further and are hopeful this will be made right.**UPDATE: Emailed Lauri as requested and still have not heard back from the company regarding this issue.

I previously hired a company to handle pest control services for my elderly mother. Apparently Bug Out bought out their customers. Since then, I have never experienced a more worthless company. Because my mother is elderly, I guess the technician figured he wouldn’t need to do anything to service the account. As I visited my mother, I continued to notice ants and especially roaches in the house.We are in town for an extended visit and my wife contacted another service to come out. They found roach feces all over the house and roach pods in every room! It was completely disgusting!! It’s going to require extensive treatment to rid the house of the problem.I’m disappointed in myself for not paying closer attention to the issue when I came in to visit. I will be looking at other options against this company as well.Do yourself a favor, and DO NOT consider this company.

I like the flexibility of our technician, Sterling, who works with my schedule. The office schedules our service for between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on the day that best works for me, but Sterling knows to show up closer to 9:00 oclock. I set my alarm for 8:00 a.m., and this gives me just enough time to get ready and meet him.

Highly recommend BugOut we are very satisfied with their services. We treat our yard for fleas and ticks and not once have had any issues with 5 dogs. Very friendly service men that come out, very professional and courtesy!!

Update:I spoke with the Service Manager and we discussed the problems weve had with Bug Out and how they bill monthly vs quarterly for quarterly services (which I updated in my original review below).Ill see how things go and update this review accordingly.----Ive had the unfortunate circumstance to need Bug Out and they dont have their act together at all. Theyre technicians are great to deal with, but dealing with what I assume is corporate rather than a local office makes them a mess to deal with. Scheduling is problematic. Getting them to call back is problematic. Its horrific. Even though Im paying Bug Out for monthly services (which they dont always provide) [edit: Bug Out bills monthly for quarterly services we were charged for services that were not rendered] Ive chosen to retain my original pest control company at the same time because they do a great job and Bug Out such a pain to deal with.Do yourself a favor and use another pest control company. The team at Moxie is great in the Wake Forest, NC area if you need one.

Roy Walker came by to do the normal spray for bugs and replace the traps for my branch I work at! He did an amazing job. He was quick, friendly, professional. I would say he is an extraordinary Pest Technician!

Glad for termite inspection, but they only warning I had was a phone call the morning of.

Hardly never do all the treatments, maybe 2x in 90 days, never got reed of mouse, even with the box they put out and it was supposed to be under home they just put it under the porch. Very poor!!! They called the to say I didnt have my bathrooms floors done, had holds in them when my bathrooms are in great shape!!!

They are currently our pest control team. I guess were getting the best price for everything but its hard to tell bc with whom can you compare it to. We currently have a bat situation and the mess to go with it theyre taking care of. Ill update my review after they sanitize and treat my attic and humanely release the bats. Also having bug treatment from the bats which altogether will set us back 1400 dollars. Hopefully the price is fair.

Great Service

The technician always checks in before and after inspecting. The few times weve been home, they have been both pleasant and professional. This year, the technician saw some problems in our crawlspace that were unrelated to termites. They took pictures and notified us of what they saw and what they think might have cause it (mice in the insulation). We are grateful for that extra effort!

Effective and Friendly ServiceBees were buzzing around our house and our play structure, hurting my kids’ ability play in peace.But Out’s Anderson Rodriguez arrived the day after I placed the call. We have the same technician each service call. Hes friendly and very thorough. Pest intrusions have been minimal since hes been servicing our account.

Driving down the highway and I see one of their pick up trucks filled with trash and insulation just coming out of the truck in big chunks all over the road and flying in the air. Insulation is filled with plexiglass and chemicals let alone theyre a bug company so who knows what else was in it?? I tried to alert them and they laughed at me. Took pictures of their truck for reference. Would not use this company.

This is from when they were Smith Exterminating. Not sure if they are different now - I had inherited this company from the previous owners of my house to do an annual termite inspection. They came out said everything was good. I happened to have the exterior of my house painted the same day and the painter showed me where I had extensive termite damage that the termite inspection company didnt find. Do not hire them! They come out, spend 2 minutes walking the outside of the house and leave you with a huge bill. I would not recommend them to an enemy.

As some one else mentioned in another 1 star review for these thieves. My builder gave me a year on my termite control and thats all I wanted. I never renewed with this company but yet kept getting bills and provided absolutely no service to us in any way.They NEVER even came on our property. In addition we wrote them several times saying stop sending us bills, we do now want any service from you.We sent one final letter 2 weeks ago to say stop sending us bills, we have never done business with you nor do we have a contract with you and we just got a letter from a collection agency still trying to collect this bogus bill! This company is full of nothing but thieves and scammers.. I will be spending the next few weeks, filing complaints with whichever agencies regulate these thieves.If you are smart you will stay far away from this company as possible.

Preston added termite deterrent- added a bait system to the exterior of my house . And technician Phillip started my new pest control service. Both were very professional, thorough, and patient as I had many questions.

I used their service specially for snakes but not happy with their service and the product they use. One of the guy came and treat the yard, garage etc. but after 2 days we found couple of snakes, many lizards etc. I took pictures as well.

Ever since they bought Smith, every time they come out they want you to write a check for something. The service man today spent 15 minutes to do my annual inspection that usually takes 45-60 minutes. He explained he has a very good flashlight. Im going to investigate other services that are more interested in me than boosting their sales goals. Smith was good, this company is not.

Bug-Out is simple. I dont have to think about it. My guy just comes every month without me having to do anything, and then I dont have to worry about pests. Also, hes very pleasant, friendly, and no-nonsense. He just gets the job done quickly and quietly.

I called in to inquire about service. I have a termite problem and had a lot of questions. I guess the person I was speaking to was having a bad day, they were so rude! Maybe my questions were too much, but I definitely cannot recommend such an unprofessional organization. I was lucky to find help with someone else. Call in center employees are always extremely helpful. When I need same day service they go out of their way to call the technicians directly to ensure that I can get a service call either same day or next day. The technicians are always extremely responsive and their service has been excellent.

This is literally the first review I have ever left for any business on google. I have had the worst experience with these people. I had an issue with spiders, ants, and hornets. They came out once and sprayed. Two weeks later the ants had moved and still had hornets and spiders like crazy. They came out a third time. This time the ants were taken care of but spiders and hornets were getting worse. I decided to cancel the service. At this point I had given them $320. They assured me the service was cancelled. Nope!! They decided to charge my credit card again three weeks later. Now I’m $360 in the hole for a few small piles of dead ants. I was told by two different locations that they would have their managers call me to refund the card but once again...Nope!!! I am literally at a loss at this point. I’ve talked to about 4 different office ladies, all of which were nice except one but they have not gotten their managers to return call either. This is not just one location at this point. None of the location managers will return calls. Absolutely avoid this joke of a business at all costs!!!In the mean time I ordered some spray on Amazon for about $30, sprayed my lot about 3 weeks ago and literally have not seen a spider since.

I’ve been a customer for almost 15 years. My wife has a huge bug phobia. Service personnel are always friendly and courteous. When I’ve had bug issues in between visits, they promptly scheduled a visit and took care of the issue. They are realizable!

We were happy with Smith Exterminating which was set up with our builder in 2015. However, when Bugout took over it’s been a downhill course. Twice they came unannounced for our “annual” inspection (7 months apart). Both times our crawl space and garage were locked. Both times I called and rescheduled so they could come back and do a thorough inspection. Whenever I call the office it always goes to voicemail. Return calls are usually more than 24 hours later. On this most recent return inspection the schedule technician didn’t show up. When I called to inquire my call went to voicemail. I waited 3 hours, called again, voicemail again. No return call. I finally called their Florida office to contact N.C. office to find out if the technician was coming. Apparently he was out that day but no one notified us. When I finally had inspection done a few days later, he was very polite. However he didn’t want to answer my question on industry standard for inspections without crawlspace included. There are lots of competitors out there. I suggest thoroughly reading all reviews, make sure there is someone to respond to your phone calls, and ask for scheduled appointments.

Gary came to exterminate my place and was friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. I left him my key to lock up and he did so with no issues. He also gave me recommendations in the future regarding my dog. Big thanks. Will ask for him again.

First time I heard of Smith Exterminating was when I received an invoice for an inspection of our house when we were not at home. It appears the technician was here for 2 minutes, we were not home at the time. Assuming he waited 30 seconds to for us to answer the door, he could not have inspected anything in any detail in the remaining 90 seconds, yet they have the audacity to invoice me $159.00 for this unsolicited inspection. This is clearly a company that is running some scam where they are attempting to trick people into paying for services that were never requested nor agreed to. I am sure many good people end up paying these invoices because they look official.

I have been using Wood Termite and Pest control / Smith Exterminating for almost 18 years now. They have ALWAYS given me excellent pest control service, along with excellent customer service. Ive never used this service and built this house, so no previous owners. We get spammed with calls from them daily and receive mail with fake renewal contracts. This company is sleazy, and if theyre paying attention they should know my phone logs are recorded and reported for NC unwanted violations which are $11,000 per incident (call).To owner who responded: This is not the name of the home owner. You are targeting newly built homes pretending you have a contract. I got my daily call from you at lunch today. You just dont quit.

I have used this company for 20+ years at the same home. There have been issues in the past due to many months between my payment for annual termite contract renewal and the actual home inspection. I resent having to keep track of actually getting what I paid for. This occurred several years in a row. I was told that it was because I never called to schedule the inspection!?Now that they have merged with several other companies to become BugOut, things have gotten significantly worse with their billing. I have been double billed for one special installation service, and three times for the annual termite renewal. I have spoken to the local Raleigh office at least three times to point out the problem. The staff apologized for the problem and appeared to communicate the problem to management, but here I am still being billed for services that were promptly paid for more than three months ago.This merger may serve the owners very well, but nobody needs this kind of customer service hassle.

We purchased a new home last year, and suddenly received a bill to renew our warranty that apparently the builder signed us up for. As we didn’t want this warranty, and use a different service, we ignored the bill, allowing the warranty to lapse. A month later we received a letter threatening to send our account to collections! I sent an email asking to cancel, to which I didn’t receive a reply. Next, I had to call, and be placed on hold, only to be told that only the cancellation specialist could help me, and she wasn’t available at the moment. All the whole, the person on the phone kept trying to sell me extending warranty.This company’s sneaky sales practices will prevents me from EVER being a customer.

My family has been very happy with the mosquito and other yard pest control from Bug Out. Their techs are always courteous and professional. 2019 was our 3rd summer being able to enjoy hanging out in our back yard and by our pool with minimal pests thanks to Bug Out.

I have been using Smith Exterminating for 10+ years with good service. However since about a year ago they changed their customer service to a centralized website and call center (in Florida?). The customer service has become horrible. Long waits on phone calls. Web accounts are a pain to set up, and rep reading me the wrong initial password, etc. And now I just received a letter saying I am past due which I am not. After 4 failed calls I finally got through and terminated my contract.

Been a longtime customer of Melvin SWAT, now part of Bug Out. Ill echo the sentiment from other customers who have observed poor customer service lately. Phone calls almost always have long wait times and worse you get a prompt to leave a voicemail after waiting.Disappointed that the quality of service is going downhill and time to look for a better option!

John has been my service provider for many years now. He is competent, makes good suggestions, has completely solved my ant problem, and has given me good suggestions for controlling the seasonal palmetto roaches that swarm throughout the neighborhood in the summer. After sending an email canceling Smith service that previous owners of the house agreed one, and explaining we don’t need their services any more, we just got a collection call for a service we didn’t agree on. The note said “we entered your house at 10:16, left 10:18. We inspected your house and you now owe us $185”. Horrible customer service and no one is picking up their phone for us to have a conversation with.We don’t recommend their services.

Smith comes by my gym every two weeks to keep the critters away. Weve been extremely happy with our experience with them. I recently had a flea outbreak at my residence and Smith got rid of them in one visit. They even sent someone the same day I called to schedule an appointment.

I work for a builder and while Cooper Pest was a small company with wonderful service, Bug Out forces you to wait on hold just to schedule something. We changed to a small company to get good service again.

BEWARE! Proforce merged with Bugout and they did a pest control service for red ants and sprayed sporadically through our grass. After a week our grass is completely destroyed! Extensive chemical burns throughout, completely dead grass so bad,t dirt is now showing underneath!Manager at Bugout came and saw damage but refuses to do anything. They deny responsibility saying chemical used doesnt harm grass. It definitely harmed my grass. They were not friendly and offered nothing to make this right. Avoid this company unless you want your yard ruined!

Regular quarterly bug treatment.

Three months ago, March 2019, I tired to call ProForce to have my yard treated. I had had service with for them for more than 2 years. I could not reach anyone. I called. Left messages. Left requests for service online. I even called the Charlotte office looking for help. Charlotte office informed me that BugOut was in the process of taking ownership of ProForce Raleigh. I explained my lack of communication with the local company and they said they would send a message to them as well, even though they had zero responsibility in the matter. Still had ZERO response from ProForce/BugOUT. As far as I was concerned they must have folded. I never received literature in the mail stating things were changing. Never received a phone call. Nothing.Fast Forward. the end of May 2019. I received door hanger/notice that BugOut had serviced my yard, and was billed $99.00. I had already obtained service from another company at this time and they had been out the day before. I called the number on the door notice and spoke with someone regarding this communication and lack there of problem. I informed them that I did not authorize BugOut to treat my yard, nor did I authorize them to bill my credit card. I am not under any contract with BugOut, nor was I with ProForce. I was assured the matter would be resolved. That I would receive a credit for the services I did not authorize, and that they would no longer service my residence,.Fast Forward 2 more weeks. Now June 14th 2019. Guess who shows up at my door....BugOut. Trying to service my yard again. I have yet to received the credit from the first un-authorized treatment, and here they are again. I called again. Spoke to the same individual, and they assured my I was no longer on the service call list. Yet here they are at my front door ready to spray/treat my yard. They assured me a manager would contact me about this ongoing problem. Still, I have heard nothing. I have received nothing. Not a single manager/supervisor has reached out. My next call is to the BBB and North Carolina State Consumer Protection Division. I will also make sure to send a shout out on the Cary/Apex Moms Facebook page to spread the news about the unprofessional practices of this company. It was there that I found the replacement company and they have been just fabulous.

Very suspicious company! Coincidentally, I just received a bill from BugOut dated 09/04/19 with an invoice for 08/28/19 termite warranty for $144 due upon receipt.This is news to me.... I just purchased this home in 2017 and have never spoken to any termite company since then so why am I receiving a bill due upon receipt?

We were with ProForce Pest Control for a few years and had received excellent service both from the schedulers on the phone and the technicians on site. We were very happy with their prompt attention and meticulous service.A couple months ago we were notified they were merging with Bug Out and promised that we would continue to receive the same level of service. This was a lie spun by the pests that surely control Bug Out. Our experience so far has been horrible.We have a significant issue with springtails every year and ProForce happily came out to retreat entry points to control the problem. This year were having the same issues, but Bug Out has been completely unresponsive. Weve got springtails all over the kitchen and our bedroom. Weve found them in our kettle when making coffee, our oatmeal, and our bed to name a few places.Ive called five times in seven days, leaving three messages detailing the issue and politely requesting service. We havent even received a call back.From reading other recent reviews, maybe we dont even want this negligent and dismissive company to even come out. We dont want to be one of the customers who receive a bill for almost two hundred dollars when someone cant answer the door within two minutes.RIP ProForce and your great service. I hope your sellout has served you well.

I Would never ever ever EVER recommend this place! First off the respectionest is rude an talks waaaay to slow to be answer phones...we had a small bed bug problem in my sons room an they were only on ONE bed. I sprayed myself, bought covers and cleaned SO good and i ended up still seeing a few left so I called them to come out an look and was charged FOUR HUNDRED dollars for a single room. I came home to find the mattresses an toys OUTSIDE of their room, which you’re not suppose to MOVE ideas from the room because it causes them to spread but I guess as professials they don’t know that...two days later I called an told them My son was still waking up with bites an seeing active ones. The manager or whoever he is Sal called me back an assured me they would be gone by the weekend an they were probably just delayed marks. He said he’d call me back the following Monday an see how things were going, never heard from him...during that week my son started getting bites again an they started showing up right outside their door an the master bed. I called on 11/5 upset because I hadn’t heard back from him when I was telling him it was still a problem, I had to leave a message an he ended up calling back set up a time to come out today (11/7) an told me he would respray the room an the other places we were seeing them. I was okay with that. Sal an a service manager came out today an when he got in the house he proceeded to tell me they would respray my sons room only but any other place in the house isn’t their problem an I would have to pay for them to spray any other areas...I would be okay with that but I came home to find the beds AND sheets in the hallway WITH active bed bugs ON them, we killed what we saw an washed the sheets finding more in the wash. So your telling me it’s not YOUR problem they are spreading when YOUR the ones MOVING infested things OUT of the room an placing them in areas of the house that aren’t! Sounds like your baiting us back in to charge us $1000+ for my whole house!! I had them perfectly contained to ONE room, ONE bed before this company came out to their “job” so PLEASE take your business elsewhere, run as far away as possible from these people! From the other reviews your better off just spraying your insect problems on your own. I wouldn’t even give them one star.

We are very unhappy with Smith and now in the process of fighting to get out of our contract. They sure made everything sound great when we signed up. They told us some things that they do that they have not done. We were told once that someone would call us about a problem we were having to check it...never called. We also had two appointments scheduled and no one showed up! I can not speak to a manager directly on the phone now about our contract and they are the ones that decide if you can cancel or not. But they have to listen to the recorded conversation. I am very frustrated and WOULD NOT recommend them to anyone.

I use Smith to spray my property for Mosquitos and for rodent control. Both are very professional and will take time to answer questions. I always like to refer to the people by their first name. I believe the mosquito guys name starts with a B (perhaps Brett or Bob) and the rodent gentlemans name also starts with a B and they both are extremely nice and good. You have to schedule the mosquito spray but the rodent control people come out the very same day you call.

Repeated calls for assistance and to talk to a manager has resulted in no communication .I manage several homes they service as well as my own. Time to look elsewhere I guess the management no longer any good.
