I arrived an hour early for my appointment to sell my car and was expecting to have to wait but I was taken in right away in after they inspected the vehicle and doing some paperwork I was out of there in less than 2 hours. They have the process down to a science and every person I dealt with was professional and pleasant. The dealership was well lit and clean.I highly recommend CarMax in Raleigh!
The easiest car buying experience I have ever enjoyed. Our salesman, Prince was top notch, courteous, friendly a pleasure to talk with. The finance personnel, especially the gem whom handled the paperwork, she was of great character and we all shared a few stories, photos and laughs.I will buy another vehicle from them once the need arises.I bought the car online, financing was done over the phone. Total time from start to finish was within 2.5 hours.Kudos to the staff at the Raleigh location on Greenwood. Top shelve treatment, no doubt.
If you go here you need to work with Willie Weeks! He was incredible friendly and a true pleasure to work with. There was an accident with the car during the purchasing process and they had to repair it before I could buy it. I was really upset because we had driven two and a half hours to get it, and had to leave with nothing. But Willie was on top of it and kept me updated on what was going on, they had it done in 3 days and he got me in and out the next day. Love the car and shopping here was the best car buying experience Ive ever had. If you see this Willie you are an amazing dude!

We had another excellent experience at CarMax! We actually had 2 salesmen. Our first salesperson, Ty, was very helpful and actually pointed us in the direction of the car we ended up purchasing. We forgot paperwork so had to go home and come back. When we did, we received help from Corey. He was awesome! Friendly, knowledgeable and not pushy at all. He was honest also which is refreshing. The process was easy and painless.
The experience selling my car to CarMax was amazing. I did the Online Offer several days before I went to CarMax but forgot my paperwork. Regardless, the CarMax team was able to look up my offer in their system by the License Plate information.After a short review period (maybe 30-40minutes) the team came back with affirmation that the online offer would be honored and proceeded to the next steps. Personally, I had a time constraint that I needed to work within and let the business team know upfront. They were very accommodating and able to get me out of there with check-in hand in just about 2 hours exactly! That may seem like a long time but considering the paperwork required, legal verifications, car review, and other regulatory requirements, I simply cannot express my gratitude enough for the extremely fast turnaround.Also, the Business and Signing center team was AWESOME! They took the time to review my paperwork, help me quickly get through signing, and were the nicest team I have worked with within a really long time.Overall, excellent customer service, very effective team, and awesome experience overall! My car developed a leak in the radiator hose within a week of purchase. CarMax had it towed to their facility the day I reported it. They repaired it and had it back on the road quickly. It was fully covered by the 30 day warranty. There was no charge. Communication was clear and professional. This is my 5th car from CarMax over many years. It was a hard to find car and I could not be happier with the process.

Great all-around experience! From shipping the car to Raleigh to meeting with my salesman (shout out to Willie Weeks!) to test driving the car to trading in my old car and rolling off the lot, I spent probably 2.5 total hours working with CarMax representatives, and it was a hassle-free process. I didnt finance my car, so I cannot speak to that process, but I can say that my options were clear to me throughout each step of the way. I knew what car I wanted, I was able to get it shipped in a very quick turnaround time, and I knew it was the right car after test driving; there was no other baggage or hard sells along the way. I was so happy with the process and hope to shop again with CarMax in the future!

Went to get a old vehicle appraised to sell. They gave us an appraisal when the place across the street said they would not buy it.Clean lobby, helpful and courteous staff. Free bottled water. Vending machines contained a mix of healthy and junk food, and were not outrageously priced.They were VERY busy today. They had a huge inventory of vehicles to choose from in their lot.
Jon really went over and beyond for us! Due to unforeseen circumstances he managed to not only get us the car we wanted but in a 2021! I really appreciate the no haggling part more straight to the point no complaints.
I am 20 years old and I was buying my first car. I already had a project car I loved and the car I had since high school. I scheduled a test drive with a 2017 mustang. Loved the car and they let me take it for a second and more longer test drive. My Salesman crushed it. Within 3 hours I had bought a new mustang and I was on my way home. Very quick process and explanation of everything. The mobile app for payments is great and easy to use. I will shop at carmax again for my next muscle car.
I have had great experience in purchasing/selling cars at CarMax in the past. This was my 3rd time doing that. The process to sell my cars and buy my new car was mostly spent waiting for the business team getting paperwork ready for me. That is an area where some efficiencies are needed. My biggest frustration is currently ongoing and that is the condition of the car I purchased. After driving my new car like 200 miles, the check engine light came on. I brought it in to CarMax which didnt have an appt available for 3 days. My car had issues where the dealer needed to repair so they sent my car to the dealer and they did give me a loaner in the mean time. I purchased my car on 7/16/21 and took it in on 7/29/21 and as of today (8/16/21) I still do not have my car back. It needed a new transmission and then they found an additional problem. I just called CarMax (on Glenwood) Services Department twice today and no one is answering the phone. To say Im beyond frustrated is an understatement.
Car max is selling Chevy Cruze that are breaking down before a year is up. All of the Chevy Cruze Starters are Bad. And on top of that they send you to a mechanic shop who messes up your car more and try to make you pay for their damage. Carmax needs to be held responsible for the Lemons their selling people. This is outrageous

I didnt feel hassled or pressured to make decisions that I didnt want to make. I had a time limit and that was met. Getting financed was quick and easy. The wait time for the business office to complete the sale was reasonable. Good selection of cars. My sales rep, Nicole was professional and easy to communicate with.
Great experience, waited a bit long for the financing department. They said they were behind because of the pandemic. But overall I was there about 3 hours. But the was transfer very quickly to my location and everything was perfect once I got there.
I went for Carmax to put an offer on buying my vehicle. I called them and asked if it would be a waste of my time to come in after having a strong offer from a few other dealers.(I told them my highest offer price) The guy on the phone assured me it wouldn’t be and that they would be able to give me a strong competitive offer based on the details I shared with him about my vehicle. Well after my half hour drive and them wasting an hour of my time they gave me a “competitive” offer 11k below the lowest dealer offer I got this week. Only reason I gave this a 2 and not a 1 star review is because the customer service rep I worked with was extremely nice.

The process of purchasing the vehicle was simple. However, I did feel rushed and not valued as a customer. I requested that all four of my tires matched and I was denied that request. I asked, Are you willing to lose a 20k sale over 2 tires and the manager replied Yes! I should have left in that very moment but I stayed and completed the transaction. I was told I could purchased 2 tires from Carmax to replace the 2 different ones and I agreed. I was assured that I would receive a phone call in 2 to 3 days notifying me that my tires were in and to set up an appointment to have them installed as I was promised installation would be free. It is now 3 weeks later and no one has kept their promise. No one has returned my calls. As a new customer I do not feel valued at all.
Came in for an appraisal and Jon at the front desk was wonderful! Very polite and kind, I was told that it would take 20-30 minutes. My experience with Jon was WONDERFUL and he is the only reason this review does not have 1 star.Bruce greeted me outside. He did not introduce himself, I only know his name from his badge. He took me inside and seemed annoyed when I said I did not have an instant offer already completed online. I was told an appraisal would take 30-45 minutes to potentially an hour. I politely declined as I do not have that kind of time and Bruce immediately seemed VERY upset at me for wasting 5 minutes of his time. He spoke to me as if I were incompetent and mansplained how to do an instant offer online...which i had already told him I knew how to do twice, I just thought Id swing by another dealership while I was out for a second opinion on appraisal.I will not be returning. Just because Im a woman does not mean that I dont know my vehicle or how to do basic things when it comes to car sales. I will be returning to the original dealer I had planned to do business with who treated me with respect and kindness. Do better, Carmax.

He allowed us to lead in the selection of the right vehicle for our needs The purchasing process was rapid and assuring of our decision in the car and CarMax. The car buying experience was good. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.Only downside is they have not followed through on what they promised. I had a scratch that was going to be better taken care. This required bringing the car back. I was to get a call in about a week to set up the appointment. I am still waiting for the call.Disappointed on the lack of follow through after the car was sold.

There needs to be better communication between the two local Raleigh locations. It has brcome a problem discerning which salespeople (and cars for sale) are located at which location; the locations are 20 minutes away from each other and frequently this becomes quite confusing, taking hours and sometimes days to unravel. The fact that both locations use a nationwide computerized Internet sales phone center only serves to increase confusion owing to lack of local personnel and assets.
Mohammed helped me out finding my perfect car. When I had some paperwork snags, he put my car on hold for me until I could come back later in the week. Very responsive and no pressure. Easiest buying experience I’ve ever had. I would definitely go this route again in the future.

The buying process was very smooth. The entire process, from arrival until leaving with the SUV was less than two hours. The SUV was clean and had low mileage. The sales associate Brandy, was knowledgeable and professional. I am not a fan of the $399 Processing fee Carmax charges, but was not enough to make me walk.

Bought two cars over last two years. Fast, no haggles and nice service! Also bought maxcare took my cars to get them serviced didn’t realize it was such a haggling! Left my car at 10:00am with appointment told me they will call me but never got a call till 2:00pm so I called then they told me parts not there I have to come back. I had a appointment for replacement of sensor but they didn’t order the sensors so I have to come back???!!!!!! Then why the wait??????!!!!!Only the buying experience was good.
We sold our car here this past week and the process was super quick and transparent. From getting the offer to receiving the check - we had a great experience with all of the different staff! The offer was also very fair and we felt like it was worth it to sell via CarMax instead of trade-in or private sale.

We had a good experience selling my car at this Carmax. I would’ve given 4 stars if it wasn’t for the unexpected wait times. When we arrived, a lovely gentleman named Bruce helped us get checked in. Then, they inspected my car and Jay brought us the offer. It was a little lower than I had expected but his explanation made it clear that it was a fair price given some damage to my vehicle. One excellent thing is that their offers are exactly what they’ll write you a check for - there are no hidden fees. This process took about 30 minutes. We then took the offer and my title/registration to the Business Office, which is separate from Sales. Although they typically only take 20-30 minutes to complete the paperwork, it took 3 hours for the Business Office to get to us. I believe they were understaffed and unusually busy, which I understand. What I didn’t understand was all of the idle people standing around while the paperwork people were busting their tails. We missed an important family event due to inefficient use of staff. Save customers’ time by cross-training your employees! Everyone we spoke to was exceedingly polite and apologetic about the wait. Sometimes there are delays but this one was excessive and unexpected. When we made an appointment, we thought we’d reserved a time for the entire process, not just the appraisal. The Sales and Business Office scheduling should be connected to avoid disrespecting and wasting people’s time.
Sales guy mamadu was great never once pressured me and my family into getting a car. He was very understanding in what kind of car I was looking for and showed me the exact car that I described to him..... Overall it was a great experience

I love my car, that process went easy due to the fact that they wanted the sale. When it came to handling the title and other issues, no one knew what the other person was doing. Three people tried to handle my issue. I got three different answers. I also called and talked to one lady, she told me what I wanted to hear to get me off of the phone. When I arrived with my boyfriend to handle it, I was told something different.
Very friendly service but their phone service is a nightmare. Just trying to reach the service department via phone Is nearly impossible. Had to drive out there in person 36 miles to speak to someone. Fortunately their manager Rick was extremely helpful and able to get a sorted out.
Great. Seamless, straightforward and we got the full price offered even with some minor issues like small scratches and tires needing replacing. Significantly better than any dealer offer. Well use CarMax again.
The online estimate was completed working within a day of submitting it and the price was very fair. The in store process of accepting the offer to purchase was easy as well. A technician reviewed my vehicle and the offer did not change. It was approximately 90 minutes and I was walking out the doors having quickly and easily seeking my vehicle.
Professional and nice but they take a lot of time to process your requests. If you dont have to come here because you are getting a good deal (money wise) i would suggest Carvana. They are very easy to work with and they work on your request quick based on all online information.

Very frustrated with CarMax! You can go on-site and walk their lot BUT half the cars are on hold or shipping elsewhere. There is nothing you can do about it even if you are there to buy. This business model has become skewed. I left there and went and bought the same Lexis from Johnson Lexus on the same day. Work with people that want to work with you... CarMax isn’t making it easier for their own employees or customers by blocking off more then half their physical lot to people that are there to buy. I hope this gets fixed soon before it catches up.

Things I loved:- When I reserved my car for test drive, it was actually reserved; no chance of it being sold to someone else before I could get there.- They transferred the car from out of town for free.- They made the test drive and purchase process really easy.- The sales associates I spoke to all had great customer service skills.- Theyve put pretty solid COVID safety precautions in place.- Once I had purchased the car, they put a pig bow on it for the delivery pictures.Things I didnt love:- The non-negotiable pricing. Haggling is a time-honored tradition that I was denied. lol- Their financing portal online isnt as user-friendly as Id like it to be.

Recently bought a car and it was the best car experience Ive ever had. I had to take the car back for maintenance and they discovered that the car did not pass their expectations. Apparently something was missed during their initial inspection (nothing major) and the car should have never been sold(according to their standards), rather sent to auction. They found me another car almost exactly the same in a different state and transferred it, at no cost to me. They then put me in a loaner vehicle until my new car arrives. This was absolutely the best service that I could have asked for. The whole staff from the car salesman, service department, financing department, and management really made me feel a lot better about the car buying experience.
My experience with Carmax was great, and not having to leave home was an added bonus. It was nice that I only dealt with one person for the majority of the purchasing process, which helped things run smoother. The home-delivery was great, however I do wish that the associates would have been wearing masks. Also, Carmax could do a lot better with their detailing, my vehicle was pretty dirty on the outside and inside.Overall - smooth process and cant beat not leaving home. Carmax Associates, mask up upon delivery! Carmax Detailers, make sure someones new vehicle is clean and there is no trash in it before the buyer sees it.

I went in to cancel my max care warranty. I called in initially and waited on hold for 40 minutes to be to to call max care directly. After I was on hold for another 30 minutes with max care, they tell me I have to go to Carmax. They also said I needed to call and make an appointment. After calling, waiting on hold for another 30 plus minutes. They tell me I do not need an appointment. When I show up, I get to the business window ready to cancel. Talk to an employee who asks me how I want the refund. The manager Nick walks up and begins to tell me they have to send it back to the finance company. Now I would understand if the car wasn’t paid off. Not to mention I refinanced it almost a year ago, so the place they’re sending the money doesn’t have anything to do with the car. So I tried telling Nick that, and he was rude and cut me off. “ we have no recollection of that, they don’t tell us anything. We’re sending it to them. If you don’t owe them, then you’ll get something back.”. Now I’ll be stuck with a gift card from the old financing place that I haven’t used in over a year. (They don’t refund checks, just visa gift cards) all because a manager of this unprofessional establishment didn’t care enough to look into it. I won’t get into the fact that they destroyed my car in the service department. So bad I had to take it to another establishment to get fixed. Carmax messed up so bad they paid the other place to fix it. I’ve had wonderful experiences before, but as of late management has been terrible. The only reason I didn’t put this out before about them messing up my car, was because of the service department manager. He made sure he fixed everything, and took care of the problem employee. He was competent enough to tell me he didn’t have anyone skilled enough to fix the issue. So he sent me elsewhere and paid for it.
In the business office, Kyleigh and Branden were extremely rude and refused to reason with a decision they admitted was entirely arbitrary. Wasted three hours of my time in addition to the person who drove to the store with me, and then asked me to come back another day during my working hours and ask someone else to come in during working hours to fix an error in judgement by the staff on duty on a Saturday.
We had an appointment but waited another 1.5 hours. They could not find the car we reserved for 30 minutes. After the purchase it was not detailed. Sticker residue still on drivers window. Water spots all over the car. On the way home we got a warning light for the headlights which have water in the lens. Like the car but it was a hassle. Now we have to go back for service which is 1.5 hours one-way and wait for it. No loaner while we wait. Bought one from the Greensboro store a few years back and things went much easier. Love the car not the experience.
Far as purchasing the vehicle, great experience. Sales associate was friendly, helpful and answered all our questions. The down side, we have had the car 15 days. For 13 days I have called to have it looked at but no answer. I have left messages but still no one calls. I was told not to just show up that I can only have it looked at by appt only. I wish I would of just shown up. Now its been over 2 weeks and over 1400 miles, they probably wont help now. Now theyll call me back and say aww no. Sorry we cant help you now. I got a truck from carmax 5 yrs ago and didnt have any issues talking to any one. Getting the car was great, no problem, having it looked at, is a problem

Our experience was wonderful. The only reason I did not give them a 5 is because the detail job was absolutely terrible. Abe our salesman was wonderful and very knowledgeable when answering our questions. I have an appointment on Monday for them to check out a rim that is bent causing the tire to leak air which we did not discover until the next day after purchase. I am very hopeful they will take care of our issues. I was very impressed with the detail job. They fixed the rim, buffed and waxed the car. It really does look new. Thank you.

The entire car buying process from start to finish was so easy and stress free! Josh from the Chattanooga store helped me out over the phone to locate the car I wanted which was in Raleigh. I flew to Raleigh the next day and dealt with another Josh who was very helpful and had me on the road in no time! The financing through Carmax was quick and easy. Overall and excellent experience buying my 2016 VW GTI!

We sold our 11 year old car at CarMax. The experience was very smooth. We had booked an appt for 7:45pm, and we left with cheque in hand around 9:30-ish. It was a little longer than expected - they told us there was only one customer ahead of us, so the whole thing would take about an hour, but even after an hour, they hadnt done anything with our car. That gave us time to read further reviews, and scare ourselves that there would some last minute drastic change in price (plenty of reviewers mentioned that).Eventually they got to our car, and from that point, it was smooth. They got us to sign some paperwork, and we kept holding our breath for some surprise (per the reviews), but no surprise came. They honored the online price that was estimated. It was past closing time, but they didnt rush us or anything like that.Overall good experience and I would probably sell to them again.
I had a great experience. I knew the model I was interested in, researched engines available, and selected a year range. I found a variety on the website that met my criteria and was well within the milage range I desired. I visited the location on Hwy 70 in Raleigh, test drove one match on the lot, and fell in love. Everything went well, until it was time to get a registration. My license was difficult to read, and it took two weeks + for a replacement. My salesman,KC Nnochiri assured me the vehicle was mine and would be waiting for me when my replacement arrived. The rest was smooth, our car was waiting for us, and we love it!

I purchased a car yesterday and disappointed about how it went down. The salesman who helped me went above and beyond for me to get my car. Originally I had gone in for an appraisal on my 2006 BMW X5 and given an estimate of 1,700. I was super excited and gone in on Sat 2/12 at 3:00pm and had all paper work ready on hand. As I was doing the process the salesman came back with bad, and unexpected news. They changed my appraisal from 1,700 to 700 which made a huge difference last minute. The manager Jay, came and gave the a little sympathy and apologized and took the feedback I gave but said he can’t do much. Asked what he CAN do to help . I am not sure what his exact role is there but clearly did not do his job but get someone’s hopes up. If you decide to get a car hear or an appraisal MAKE SURE YOU SEE THEM TEST DRIVE!!!! I thought like every car dealership they test drive it and give you an exact amount. Clearly they did not with me. After spending about 5 hours here I left with a car with a different color and higher mileage. Still love the salesman. Not the management and the way they deal with the unresolved issues .
