Such an awesome experience! Absolutely love this restaurant, everything was incredible from the service, to the food, to the overall restaurant affair. This place is an absolute must if you are in Raleigh/Durham, worth driving to also if your near by. They start you off with a tray of olives, pickles and celery. Than they bring some amazing bread and crackers paired with some cheese spreads. The menu offers a great selection of premium steaks and all meals come with two sides. But save room for dessert!!! They have several house made desserts but the signature chocolate chess pie is out of this world!!! Our waitress Angelic, gave us the best service we could have hoped for, thank you!!
My husband and I were there last night (10/2/21) for our 11th Wedding anniversary. It was our first time and we truly had a wonderful experience and will be back for sure! The atmosphere, the service and the FOOD was amazing. 5 Star experience definitely!! Our server was JR and he assisted in ALL ways possible to ensure we had a memorable anniversary. Great job Angus Barn!
An amazing birthday experience. The decor is wonderful and all the staff are very helpful, patient, and kind. We went for my birthday and the dinner was perfect, the sirloin and lobster tail were mouth watering. (Great portions for what you pay!!!) The only issue is that my husband was served the incorrect salad but it wasnt anything to gripe about. To my surprise I was gifted a birthday pound cake after our dinner and my husband was gifted a bottle of wine for his military service. The experience was great and we will be dining at the Angus Barn again.
One of the best steaks in Raleigh. Rustic fun setting with multiple bars and multiple seating levels. Great steak and seafood. Amazing cocktails and great little nibbles before your meal. If it’s your birthday or anniversary, make sure to let them know when you make the reservation so you get a complimentary homemade pound cake.
Great experience and food! If you are going for the first time make sure to visit the wild turkey bar upstairs first and enjoy specialty drinks. Then ask for a tour of the place and underground wine cellar. It is the most unique setup with friendly staff all-around!! Great to meat the award winning chef and team. The food is top notch and so many inside or outside seating options. Anyone in Raleigh/Durham... This is a must!!!
Angus Barn is a definite Raleigh staple. High quality steaks and even better service. The atmosphere is excellent with the rustic barn theme and accoutrements. The cheese spread with homemade crackers are delicious. The steak was well cooked side are on point. The star of the show is the desserts. You have to try the chocolate cheese pie!
Swanky rustic with old school charm! There is so much going in this restaurant. From the noise to the table cloths, your eyes and ears will never be bored! Started at the outside bar and had some drinks while we waited for our table and watched some football. Seated, had steak and crab claw. BIGGEST CLAW IVE EVER SEEN!!! Afterwards we checked out the memorabilia room....AMAZING!!! We will be back for sure!
Upscale steakhouse and wine venue with exceptional atmosphere. This is a premium establishment with pricing to match. Take the time to wander the facilities and admire the décor. The bacon wrapped filet mignon was grilled perfectly as ordered. It was tender and flavorful without additional sauce needed, though there was a potent bourbon au jus on the side. The lobster tail was succulent and well prepared, without being rubbery. Both of these proteins were complemented superbly by the twice baked potatoes, though I had expected it served in the potato skin instead of a ramekin. I rather like crispy twice baked skin. The apple cobbler with cinnamon ice cream is also a nice way to complete the meal. Cobbler was fresh and the ice cream was not too heavily flavored with cinnamon.
I never write reviews but our visit was so bad I felt the need to.. We came to celebrate my MIL birthday and we were all surprised at how the quality has gone downhill from the other times we have been. My husband and I both ordered lemon martinis with grey goose. Our glasses were maybe half full at best.. both of us said at the same time looks like we paid for two but get to split one.The French onion soup we all had was cold and so strong we couldnt even finish it. For what you pay to dine at this extremely well known establishment we were all shocked at how much different this time was from the ones in the past.
Ive been to the Angus Barn more than a few times in my life and every time is a pleasant experience. Tonight was no exception. While I didnt catch our servers name, as it was a rather busy night, he was extremely attentive, cordial and knowledgeable. The food was delightful and exactly to the specifications we asked for. Tonight was the last anniversary my fiancé and I will have before we are married next week and we wanted it to be special, which it absolutely was. If you dine here alone or with anyone else I guarantee you will enjoy yourself. Tip big for these superstars!
Angus barn is huge, but still has a homey feel and quality to it. It may not be haute cuisine, but it does well what is do: steak and seafood in American quantities and with American flair. The various cuts of beef all sound fantastic, and the three different ones we tried were all excellent, the sides were good though some were maybe a tad plain, the chips and cheese dip appetizer was in a league of its own.No real healthy dining here, but the indulgence is well worth it!
Wonderful and friendly staff. Awesome atmosphere. Chess pie does not disappoint. Was disappointed in the steaks- great quality and cooked well but they had no flavor. We wonder if they just forgot to season.
We dined at Angus Barn on the day of our 50th wedding Anniversary…our children celebrated us earlier in the month. It was a pleasurable experience thanks to the delicious food and German Reisling we imbibed and to our attentive and capable waiter, Adam. My Atlantic salmon was delicious and perfectly cooked and such a generous portion that I ended up taking half of it home. My husband had the filet Mignon and he said there wasn’t a hint of gristle in it, it was cooked to order and though the portion was huge he did indeed finish it. The side of asparagus was delicious also. No room for dessert but Adam presented us with a complimentary pound cake beautifully decorated and lit up! Then he boxed it for us. Just having moved to the area, this was our first visit to Angus Barn but won’t be our last. Not only Adam, but all the staff at the Angus Barn greet you and make you feel like an honored guest.
This is our special occasion go to restaurant experience. The wait staff is always solicitous and efficient. The food is truly outstanding. I love their steaks, salads and appetizers...I believe it is rated among the best steak restaurants...a well earned distinction.
Start off with the staff was really polite and tried to be accommodating! We had reservations at 8:30 we checked in at 8:10 finally got seated at 9. The hostess had the manager give us complimentary ribs for our wait. The ribs were well sauced and seasoned. Entree we ordered Chateaubriand for two and soup (french onion). The french onion had zero onions in either of our bowls just bread, beef broth, and cheese but extremely salty. The chateaubriand was served with vegetables and twice stuff baked potato so under seasoned it was inedible. I wish the food matched the ambiance and hospitality of the staff.
An absolutely wonderful experience!-Crackers and 2 types of cheese spread is brought to your table with a glass of ice water, and a small try of pickles, olives, celery, and peppers-Bread and butter is served with your main meal-Salad or Soup comes quickly before your main meal is served-We not once had to ask for a refill... our waiter was amazing!Everything was delicious, the staff were so extremely kind, and the place was beautifully decorated! Our waiter, Jamie, even brought us out a small cake with candles to celebrate our anniversary. It was so thoughtful!!Would definitely come back again!
Absolutely amazing!!!! My fiance and I treated my parents there for dinner tonight and the service was great! From the check-in in the parking lot til our exit from the bldg....everyone, and I mean everyone, was so kind! Everything was on point, from the water, crackers and cheese to dessert! My family and I cant wait to go back again. Much needed family time and good eating and fellowship.
I cant stress enough how if you are looking for a good steakhouse to come here. This restaurant by far is one of my favorite. All of the staff was amazing. My wife and I split the tomahawk and it did not disappoint. Everything from appetizers to desserts was exceptional. Unfortunately no pictures to follow the food looked so amazing I didnt even think to take a photo. Thank you again to the staff for an amazing dinner
What more can I say about this magical establishment!? Angus barn at Christmas is absolutely amazing! The steak was soooo dang good and the cheese spread almost filled me up before I even got started. We heard such good things about the cheesecake that we went ahead and purchased a whole one... well worth the purchase price and we had delicious dessert for a week straight! I also loved the Makers Mark barrel pick bourbon. It was definitely a great barrel pick! After dinner, we were able to walk around and check out the Wild Turkey lounge and the amazing decorations all over the place. I cant wait until our next visit!
Hubby and I visited there for our 5 year anniversary and everything was so tasty! Our server Rebecca was spectacular and was ready with amazing suggestions. We couldnt finish all our food so we had leftovers to bring back home to Greenville ^_^ Their cocktails were delicious, pictured is the Southern Beach and the Midnight Run. We had the calamari to start and the mustard dipping sauce we perfect with it. I had the 14oz ribeye with mashed sweet potatoes and the hubby had the combo prime rib and shrimp.
Its a great place with a classic southern vibe. The wild turkey lounge upstairs is a nice intro. The downstairs lounge has a plethora of southern collectibles to marvel. The menu is great, not the best steak house Ive ever been to but its pretty darn good and worth the price. I noticed they have a nice outdoor amphitheater for private events overlooking a lake. This place clearly is a staple to Raleigh and has been there a long time. Its definitely worth a visit, maybe repeat visits.
Cant say its great and worth the money!! We told them we were here for my daughters graduation from college. The ONLY thing they did to make her night special was to take her order first. We ordered dessert for the table and at the very least they could have written congratulations in chocolate on her plate. Really!! Darryl seemed to be not very well trained in customer service. Our table ordered 3 14 oz Ribeyes. Pic attached of mine and when I asked why mine was so much smaller than the other 2 I was told its because I ordered mine medium well. Look at the dinky tomato. Wheres the quality control on a 10 cent tomato. This plate was not representative of a $49 steak at all. Sullivans completely blows them away. I have the Wine Cellar booked for next May for my daughters second graduation. After tonight, I really wonder if I made the right decision for that.
Great service. Great ambience. Parts of food great, parts of it just fair. The crackers and cheese were great. Got prime rib with barbecued pork ribs. My fault thinking a high dining place would be good at ribs...Ive had them in KC and Memphis and had Cheshire ribs. Ribs were like they threw them in the oven and served them to you. Prime Rib tasted good...melt in your mouth although not medium like I ordered. The Caesar salad was OK but Ive had better dressing. My wife got marinated shrimp and those were great...wish I would have gotten that. Loaded potatoes were good, wifes mashed potatoes and broccoli were just OK (no real seasoning) . Triple chocolate cheesecake was as good as you would think. Consistent quality across all the food would have made it better food experience.
Food was great. Service was a little bit cold to start but ended on a warm tone. We come here for our anniversary every year. This year we almost decided against it due to our service, but the service soon warmed up towards the end of the meal. Mostly due to the cake and coffee. We will try again next year.
Really nice setting and feel. Food was not seasoned well. Steak was bland and so was the spaghetti. Since the steak cost I decided to take it home... seasoned it and seared it and it was great.
Where else in the city can you enjoy a bone-in 42oz tomahawk steak next to an antique gun collection? Such a fun place to take family and friends.
The food was good. We made reservations and got in pretty quickly. But the food is kinda pricey. Picture of 2 plates was 100$ plus tip so it was around 130 for dinner for 2. Not really worth it for the portions. But for a special occasion it’s nice to change it up if you are into the whole barn look for a restaurant. But tbh the one thing that really stood out was the bathrooms! They have very big and beautiful bathrooms, but there were ROACHES INSIDE!! I couldn’t do it so I left…but overall ok experience.
Pretty good for a sub $50 Ribeye and side. Steak had a decent sear, good balance of fat/meat, was cooked properly, the stuffed potatoes are awesome. The wine selection is really good and the drink prices are reasonable. The server was super friendly. The Caesar salad wasnt overly dressed/rich.
Honestly for the price I would much rather eat a steak at Ruths Chris or Reys. The steak is subpar, cooked well but underseasoned. I like my steaks flavorful enough to be eaten without steak sauce or garlic butter, you dont get a ribeye like that here. Ive tried it twice and both times were just underwhelming. Everything else was good and the service was great but mostly I think youre paying for the atmosphere, not the food. I just dont feel justified paying 50 dollars for a piece of meat I dont even like that much. Maybe Ill try seafood next time or maybe Ill just pay the same price somewhere else with a better steak lol.
Wonderful restaurant with excellent food and top-notch service as always. I almost didnt accompany my family on our previous visit because I didnt think there would be a vegan option for me. But there is a wonderful grilled vegetable platter that would make most any vegan happy! Bring along some vegan butter for your baked potato. I will happily accompany any of my meat-eating friends or family to this restaurant. The only downside is there is no vegan dessert. However my dinner was delicious and my steak-eating family members enjoyed themselves as well.
Im from New York City and this is the first time Ive ever been in this restaurant and the experience was Unforgettable the staff was superb service was precise and the food was excellent
Went for my Birthday and enjoyed the tomahawk and great complimentary pound cake!
We have dined here on a number of occasions and have enjoyed it immensely everytime. The food and service is always 5++ stars. The tour is always a good idea.
Delicious...so hard to save room for dessert, but its my favorite place to get dessert in the whole world! Another fantastic anniversary dinner!
Great for enjoying the biggest dinner with myself
Whoever is cooking should get to know seasonings. Everything is bland. Its just not worth the price tag.
This place is gorgeous! I went there during Christmas break for my BD. They had this beautiful Xmas decoration! We ordered New York style steak and it was great. They also brought me a free cake after dinner for my BD! Generally, it was a great experience and I will definitely go there again!
Loved the service and the giant lobster. Though it was a little over cooked. But still enjoyable with butter !The crackers and cheese was awesome !
If you are in the Raleigh-Durham area this is something you really need to do. The entire experience was top notch from the Hostess to the wait-staff to the amazing menu. Probably some of the best Calamari I have had anywhere in the country. The steak I ordered was done to perfection and had exquisite flavor. This is something we will plan for on our next visit to the area.
The tomahawk steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked, no steak sauce needed. The sweet potato fries go great with the honey butter, and if course the cheese spread! First time out in over a year and it was worth it.
It was my sisters 50th birthday, the staff at Angus Barn was wonderful! Thanks to Kennedy for asking the staff to set up all the decorations... yall exceeded my expectations!
Charming staff. Great steak offerings but a little overpriced.
This place is a must stop. The food is amazing and the staff is just as amazing. I got the tomahawk steak and at medium you could cut it with a spoon. We were the last group there and they still took us on a tour of the building. The wine cellar and smoking bar were amazing. But nothing compares to the wild turkey lounge or the gun room. I could eat there everyday. Felt so much like home there.
The food is good, the service was pleasant. Ive heard a lot of great things during the holidays, however I believe this trademark of Raleigh is popular for the overall experience instead of the food.
Our previous made reservations were declined on arrival. Sat us in dark room in the back of the restaurant. Service was not up to Angus Barn past experience. 20 minutes for drinks, hour and a half for entrees, cowboy steak quality was poor and chewy.. Portions were inconsistent. Not sure what was going on that night with the staff. Very disappointed. Hopefully better next time.
I love this restaurant, this was my first time going to this restaurant. The food was delicious 😋 I didn’t like chicken because it was too seasoning but I would definitely go back there. The sweet tea was so good and the ribs, and sweet potato omg don’t get me to talk about it. But 100/100, you should go to Angus Barn.
The prime rib, marinated shrimp and baked sweet potato was delicious. The prime rib was juicy and cooked just right for me. I was just missing my grill marks on my steak other than that everything was good. Wait staff was excellent and checking if anything was needed.
The food is fantastic as always but my issue is that the Angus Barn used to be a fancy and upscale restaurant. People would dress nicely to accommodate to the nice atmosphere but last time I was there I saw a man wearing a camo jacket and flip flops. The dress code has slacked drastically. When I pay $160 for 2 people I dont want to look at people who look like the just came from the beach.
Ate in the Wine Cellar for a 50th birthday party. The service at Angus Barn is phenomenal, as is the ambiance and the food. Such a privilege every time I get to come here. Thank you to ALL of the staff for making tonight so special!
We recently got married at the Angus Barn and had an intimate dinner in the wine cellar and it was fabulous! The staff was incredibly accommodating and made our day very special. We even went back for dinner the following night and were gifted a champagne toast and some of their famous cheese and crackers. We love the Angus Barn for their high quality and consistent service we receive every time we visit.
My filet was cooked to perfection. They have a separate gluten free kitchen, so Celiacs can dine here safely.
Cant go wrong with the Angus Barn. Great staff, great experience. Overall just a great place to go.
Really neat place to eat. Awesome atmosphere. The chateaubriand is amazing
We were there for a birthday party the food was delicious and our server Kendra was attentive, friendly and got our orders correct. Oh and the sweet tea was amazing.
Arrived at opening for evening. Seated quickly. Waiter was courteous and very attentive. He gets 5 Stars. First time dining here. The food was lackluster! Ribeye had very little marbling and looked more like a strip. Seasoning was non-existent. Steak was tasteless. Lobster tail and shrimp were rubbery. Blackberry cobbler was excellent. Overall I was not impressed. Maybe the real chef was off that night.
We come here to celebrate milestones . Food was ok. Server was pleasant but felt like she did the minimum. Have been here several times with servers went above and beyond! Considering the prices one expects great service.
We walked in and there was a small wait, which wasn’t bad at all, we got drinks at the bar outside and was offered cheese and crackers. We were then seated about 15-20 minutes later. The server took about 5-10 minutes before we were greeted. We saw her pass by several times and didn’t acknowledge us. The food was incredible, the service was subpar. Server rarely checked up on us.
Outstanding food and service!
Delightful experience for many years.
A great place to celebrate any occasion. Be assured Angus Barn is following all COVID protocols. Ladies, make sure you visit the first floor ladies bathroom. Eloquent. For pictures of your group check out the 1st floor room with the display of guns. Youll make memories.
Absolutely delicious! The service was amazing! My husband took me here for my birthday as a surprise. They serve a delicious cheese and cracker spread. We ordered the lump crab cakes as an appetizer and it was all crab unlike some places. The lobster tail and filet were perfect. To my surprise they gave me a whole pound cake for my birthday. We also ordered a dessert to go. Well definitely be returning to this restaurant. Our waitress service was excellent to the point that she ran out to the car with extra cheese spread because she remembered my husband & I talking about him trying it out in his homemade mac n cheese.
Very large, busy and obviously successful place. Excellent service. Food was good but not great. Reservations may require a week or more. More expensive than most restaurants with comparable quality.
The food was good and the ambience is lovely. They make very delicious cocktails. Their cheese and crackers is good and their bread is good. JR/RJ was a great server as well.
We dropped in with a group of 6 for appetizers and drinks right when they opened on a Tuesday without a reservation. They managed to get us seated on the patio in under 15 minutes and though it was hot outside the shade and the fans made it bearable. Drinks were good (we didnt order anything complicated) but the appetizers were over priced; we ordered 6 different appetizers and while they werent bad, they also werent anything to write home about and they werent worth the prices on their own (maybe as part of a larger meal?). Our waiter was a little slow on refills and just as we began wondering where the food was, it came out (most of it, 2 items came 10 minutes later). Overall, I wouldnt call it a bad experience but given the reputation of the place I would have expected just a tad better. Then again, they arent famous for appetizers, but for their steaks, and we were just there for a little refreshment before we went to a work event, so 4 out of 5 stars.
Great food as always and the atmosphere is unmatched. Service was top tier!
Good wine, great service. Huge fan of the cheese and crackers and pickle plate. A little disappointed my steak was overcooked. Ordered medium and it was definitely almost well done. I should have sent it back but didnt, my mistake.
Great service, staff and meat! If you’re a protein lover, you have to visit Angus Barn.
First of all the server was fantastic. We have been going here for years and this is the first time we have ever been disappointed. Wifes steak was supposed to be medium - it was med-rare to rare - no taste at all - veggies were bland to say the least - my dish (salmon / shrimp) was fine but not up to the usual AB standards. Not sure what has changed (change it back please) or it is was an off night.
Outstanding food and service!! Took the tour and as Veterans was provided a free bottle of wine!
Loved every minute!! The food was wonderful. The server was not kidding when she said the crackers and cheese are addictive!
Best steak I’ve ever eaten. PERIOD.!. Service and Ambiance was impeccably great!😎⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😎
Always a great venue. Food and Service was outstanding
By far one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Had reservations for our wedding anniversary and our experience was excellent. The food is great and the portion sizes are even better. You certainly get what you pay for at a restaurant like this. From the door greeters to the hostess to the waitstaff, everyone was super friendly and charming. Our waiter, Adam, was so polite and courteous and he made sure we were happy and satisfied with everything throughout our dining experience. Without reservations, you will have a bit of a wait but it is absolutely worth it!
Always a classic! Went for dinner the other night and realized I had never written a review. What is not to love about this Raleigh icon. Fabulous service, great cocktails and that wedge salad!! And yes, the steaks are great, but I love exploring the menu every time for something new and different.
You always leave full and it tastes great. Always excellent servers. Mens bathroom is always super gross though. Guess the food leaves quick.
