This place was amazing! Bartender was very helpful with local brews and the food was amazing. Definitely recommend the Rack of Ribs!

Sammys Tap & Grill has good food, and K.P. behind the bar is fabulous! She is a dedicated server who works a lot! On Tuesday nights they have Team Trivia. The man who runs it (Willie) seems so professional and has a very resonant voice; pleasant to listen to. From my experience, this bar/restaurant has a pleasant neighborhood feel to it, where everyone is welcome and gets along.

Super convenient location. The food is usually pretty good (especially the pickle chips), the drinks are reasonably priced, they have more TVs than best buy, pool tables, and they allow dogs!

We went in the middle of pandemic, not any crowd, very sweet server and food was good. The ambiance definitely has seen some good old days and menu items and drinks were good too, given the limitations caused by pandemic.

Sammys grill... Reminds me of a beautiful butterfly, initially thought to be of red color but soon realizing it was a purple animal covered in blood, juicy red blood

The staff is so friendly and inviting and surrounded by a hometown atmosphere. My food is always exploding with flavor. (Definitely try their wings) They have community events every week like karaoke on Wednesdays. Such an awesome spot to start a long night out. 10/10

Went to this place expecting bar food and I’d say that was roughly what I got. A little worse than expecting but everyone has bad days and I wouldn’t say their food is always like this, so it’s worth a shot for your own experience.On this restaurants positives our waitress was phenomenal, she was very attentive to us and made sure we got anything we needed and went above an beyond. She was very kind to us and had a few conversations with us beyond just asking what we wanted to eat. I didn’t catch her name before but on the ticket it read Meghan, one of the best waiter/waitress experiences I’ve had!

Sports are king, but the servers and food are good enough for me to write a review. Staff is friendly and work hard to keep the very good food and drinks moving despite game-time packed crowds. Kitchen keeps up the pace and gets it right!

They messed up our order twice which took 2 whole hours. Then the manager came out and said he was going to take care of us and make it up to us. He comes back 10 minutes later with a small basket of soggy fried pickles that taste like dog food and proceeded to charge us all full price for our meals. This place is the biggest waste of money ever.

It has been a really long time since we have been there. But it is back on the radar for places to go. We love outside and they have a great outside and semi-outside space. I had the Pbilky Cheese Steak sandwich. I needed to ask for a little more cheese for my preferences, but it was awesome with thin sliced steak and onions and peppers.

One of my favorite places near NC State without a doubt! Great place to watch a game or just hang out with friends for a good meal. It is very sentimental to me as an NC State alumni so I try to come back from time to time. I had my first beer here after turning 21 and remember watching many big NC State sports game here! Highly recommend and Go Pack!!

As always, awesome hospitality and delicious food. The waitress offered water to our puppy once we arrived and went above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. Will definitely go again.

Great place to watch the game or hang out with friends. Service can be a a bit slow but given the issues with short staffing nowadays; its hard to hold it against them. Wings and burgers are a personal favorite from here.

Got here right as the opened at 11 and the food was great along with great service. Theyve got a great selection of draft beers and other adult beverages.Their half rack of BBQ ribs were great, wish I had gotten a full rack.

They sell bar food. Its what youd expect. Ungodly amount of tvs which I love. They even have one screen on a cute puppy channel which my gf loved.

Been coming to Sammys for years with friends. Great spot to grab good food and drinks, and watch sports. Theres TVs in every booth as well as TVs all around so you can watch multiple games at once! Service is always great, cant recommend enough as a hang out spot!

A favorite watering hole for my team. Great atmosphere and a ton of patio seating! Staff is always very kind to us, even when we bring more than 10 people. Sammys is a lifestyle and were so thankful theyre around.Also, order fried pickles and thank me later.

Sammy’s is my go to sports bar to watch NC State games. They have tons of TVs, good food, and cheap beer. Chloe is my favorite server, but every time I come they have the best service!

First visit since before the pandemic. Food was pretty much as remembered but service was a bit lacking. Might be a staffing issue - without as many students near campus, the pool of wait staff is certainly smaller.

Service is always polite and friendly. Bartenders are always on point with the drinks. Love the atmosphere and experience. Always feel welcome when I come to Sammys, its like a second home.

I was in a few days ago with my wife for some burgers and beers? We sat outside on the patio. KP came over with a great vibe. I asked her if they had any beer specials and how are the burgers. She told me the beer special and that the burgers were phenomenal. It was! I was only supposed to have 2 beers but ended up staying a while. : ) I felt like I was at a cool college bar home back in Boston. Great service! Great place! I will be back with family and friends very soon!!

My boyfriend and two kids stopped Sunday afternoon after playing at the park. It was seat yourself service and I loved the environment of the area. The older server with a gray beard somewhat greeted us. He came up to the table, didn’t say anything and waited for us to stop talking to speak. He asked what we wanted to drink and I told him both kids will have 2 cokes, he responded with okay in a sarcastic manner as if it was an annoying task. We then told him we will have waters until we decided what we wanted to drink. He said nothing else, starred at us and walked away. Did not ask to put an app in, any suggestions, nothing. After such a disrespectful interaction, we left before the drinks hit the table. We can take a hint when our business is not welcomed. Coming from the industry we know how proper steps of service should be conducted. If you don’t like your job, find a new one. Such a disappointment because the environment was great. Will never be back.

I went to Sammy’s for the first time last night. I sat at the bar with a friend and Chris was our bartender. He was super friendly from the moment we sat down and offered some great suggestions. He recommended the Buffalo chicken dip as an appetizer and it was great! He also made us the best cocktails. We had a great experience and will be back.

Food very good. Atmosphere easy going. They do what they have to do without any further militaristic attitudes and being on peoples faces as they try to relax and drink or eat.

Pretty cool spot for some beers and wings. The pizza was rather expensive for what you get. Id be back for sports and beers.

Sammy’a is so fun. The bartenders are kind and attentive and the servers (especially Val) are considerate and friendly. The DJ is great and super talented when it comes to singing on karaoke night on Wednesday’s! I recommend this place for a fun Wednesday night!

I frequent this awesome joint near NC State at least 2-3 times a week and every time I have a great experience. Wonderful food, great prices, and a wonderful atmosphere! The managers, including Matt and Hope, are fantastic.All of the above are why I keep coming back time and time again.

We come up to Sammy’s every Wednesday for karaoke because it is so much fun! The servers can be kind of slow, which is understandable since it’s so busy, but the bartender, Hope, is the BEST in all of Raleigh, which is why I’m giving this place 5 stars. She is so sweet and knows how to mix a good drink! We love her and Sammy’s!!!

Came hear with some friends, and picked up some good starters with a pitcher of Red Oak. AJ was serving and checked up on us regularly. Would come again if I lived closer.

Service was friendly and fast, wings were good. Also tried a hamburger and was underwhelmed. It was just bland.

My family and I were in visiting last week and Halley was the manager on staff. She was warm and welcoming, stopping by our table a few times to make sure we were enjoying our meals and that our service was good. Which it definitely was. We appreciate that she took time to engage with us and the other tables around us, you dont see that often anymore.

This used to be my favorite place. The value of the food varies depending on the time of day you go. The quality is no longer consistently good. The food when dining in is always better than a to go order or a delivery.

I went on a road trip with my mom to see my cousins did not know where to go to eat until we found this place I personally fell in love with the bar and the wings where amazing haha we had a wonderful time, the waitress Livi was kind, and patient with us since we where a bit undecided on what to get until she recommended us the home made chili it was delicious hope to go back there again and bring more people to enjoy this place.

Great place to chill with friends and family or to watch a game. It is a seat yourself place which I love. Televisions everywhere including at each booth. Very laid back atmosphere with above average Bar Food. Just beware during NFL season, the place is a Steelers bar on gamedays!

Showed up for my takeout order at the time specified, was told it would be ready shortly, then waited 20 minutes. I finally had to ask someone to check on my order. They brought it out from the back immediately, so I asked if it had been sitting the whole time? They said no, it JUST came up. I opened the box in the car, it was barely room temperature. What a waste of time on my lunch hour. 2nd star is for the size of the brownie that I was forced to order, just to make the $15.00 takeout minimum.

A group of friends and I came in for a meeting last night and had Kimberly we were served quickly and good service. More than one time a manager came in to check on us to make sure we had everything we needed because there was a lot of us coming and going. I have worked in restaurants so I know lots of people can be a hand full Kimberly and the busser were very helpful and fast.

Took about 20 minutes to get a drink. Male bartender seemed confused and out of it. It was hard to have a good time when you couldnt get served by him. Female bartender was on point. Not sure of names but hopefully this place gets it together. Sad.

Sammys is the best for Wednesday nights. Matt and Gabby take care of everyones personal needs. The DJ is awesome and the bouncers couldnt be any sweeter. Bartenders and wait staff are always top of the line. Best place to hang

The selection is unbeatable! SO many items on the menu look SO good. I tend to visit at odd times so not sure how the lunch or dinner rush run, but every time I go my food comes out pretty quickly, and I havent eaten anything that I didnt enjoy. Staff is always friendly and atmosphere is great. Huge tvs all around showing whatever sports are happening. Just understand that youre in Wolfpack country when you visit here!

Wasnt sure what to expect. Often drove by this location and it caught my eye from the road for the longest time due to the large porch and stone front. But a bar and grill right next to a college campus gave me some clues.Today, finally, we were in the area at the same time as being super Hungary. So we came in and the decor and menu was pretty much as expected. When looking at the menu I was fully expecting your standard 2.5 star college bar food. I ordered the chopped pork sandwich with potato salad and mac and cheese. My date ordered the philly cheesesteak with mac and cheese. I also ordered a double house whiskey neat.Food came out fast and I tried the potato salad first. Great flavors! Perfect balance of potato, onion and dressing. Next tried the mac and cheese. It was good, pretty standard and actually a little overly cheesy? The bbq pork sammich though - man that was good. Meat was full of smokey flavor but that wasnt the ONLY flavor which happens at a lot of eateries that give this a go. The vinegar sauce was also really good and peppery. My date loved her cheesesteak and agrees with me about the mac - perfectly passable but a bit boring.Overall - super tasty. I knocked off 1 star because, for some reason, its a please seat yourself sign at the entrance, and this is a full sized restaurant. Not a good idea. It took 7 minutes before any waitresses noticed us and the table next to us who sat down right after we did. She was very apologetic and appreciative of our patience, and I dont blame the waitress at all - thats an awful decision to have no host or hostess. Another reason I knocked off a star was the mac and cheese being overly soupy and a bit boring. I want to emphasize the waitresses were super nice, attentive when they realized they had new tables, and apologetic for the wait.We will be back, but hopefully we will be greeted by a host or hostess.

Pretzel tasted no better than one of those frozen ones you can buy at the store. funnel fries were good bc they reminded me of fair food(for some ppl this would be a bad thing), but overall I wouldnt say the food is high-quality at all.

Never been to the bar just ordered the food. Probably the worst food I have had since moving to Raleigh. We got the Philly, chicken quesadilla, cheese fries and queso. Would not recommend any of these items. Waste of money.

Me and my family came and dined Here after taking my son to do a tour of Nc State Campus! And I just have to say this place is one of a kind but not only was the food and atmosphere great our Server Malike ( I hope I’m spilling it correctly) is out of this world! So attentive, Knowledgeable, and funny! My mom who is a little hard of hearing was with us and he was so patient and beyond kind to her! He even read the menu with her just to make sure her order was right! You don’t find a lot of Genuine people in this world but he definitely showed us that he is one! We will definitely be back when move ins happen!!

I had a horrible experience last night on St Patrick’s day at Sammy’s, first and last time ever coming here and I didn’t even make it through the door. I was by myself and meeting my friends who were already inside and I made the mistake of assuming this place was just a restaurant. When I walked passed a man by the door I couldn’t hear him well and honestly thought that these men were standing out there having a conversation or something (looked very casual). Not realizing that he was the bouncer I walked passed and was instantly grabbed by the arm and pulled back forcefully. I was so taken aback and confused just trying to explain my point of view while he was yelling at me, belittling me, and threatening to not let me in. I was so frightened that I just had to leave and not enjoy dinner with my friends. I apologize for my misunderstanding but no one should ever be treated this way especially considering that his grasp left red marks on my arm. My friends and I agreed to never dine here again because even their service inside was terrible. 0/10 Experience.

Hope is the best bartender I have ever had. Let me preface by saying I am 29 years old and have been going to bars for quite some time now. She is by far the most attentive bartender with a great memory. Every time I walk in she instantly remembers exactly what I want. It is such a pleasure. The food is also pretty good as far as bar food is concerned. Sammys exceeds my expectations for bars near NC State and it is strictly because of Hope.

One of the only places you can bring a dog and sit on an enclosed patio. I take my kids here and there is never food left over. Most booths have a small TV and there are large screen TVs everywhere.
