The studio is a great venue for a company to host a class/meeting. Projector screen, tables, chairs, you have access to adjust your own temperature in the room, etc. Great space in a convenient location with access to an extra large elevator, ample parking, CLEAN bathrooms and a Starbucks downstairs!!! To add icing on the cake, the studio owner is amazing! Super friendly. Tables and chairs were already set up when I arrived to set up for my class. Will I book this venue to teach another class, YES!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Very friendly. Melanie is a dedicated and good instructor. like the studio and classes.
My husband and I started taking ballroom dancing lessons a year ago at A Step to Gold. It has been one of the best things we have ever done. The instructors are professionals who communicate well and can teach students at all levels. They are very flexible to find a time for lessons that work best for their students. Not only does the cost include private lessons, but unlimited group lessons and dances to practice throughout the week. Melanie, the owner, also works hard to provide fun dance events and dinners to bring even more opportunities to learn and practice. Payment plans are available. Many of the students who come have been taking for years at A Step to Gold. The atmosphere is positive, encouraging and fun. During Covid--Melanie has worked very hard to provide her customers the best opportunities while operating under restrictions--like offering virtual lessons and dancing outside. Dancing is good for the soul and we always feel refreshed and happy after a lesson.
I wrote a post earlier about taking the owner to court for not refunding me on my event. I had a event there in 2017 and it went will. So I couldnt have the 2020 event because of COVID-19. We went to court and she was told to pay back the money but she still refuses. I didnt know she was so hard up for money. We could have did a half and half payment plan. She is willing to go back to court Superior court to again try not to pay me.. so sad.. God bless you.🙏🙏🙏🙏
I was purpose to have a Adult Prom there and because of COVID-19. It provided me from doing so... So I contacted the owner 2months in advance to let her know and that I needed a refund. She refused to give me my money back. I took her to court and won of course and she still refuses. She lied in court and said I didnt pay my full amount and I have proof to show.. I will never use this Event Center ever again and I will be going public soon. I will be taking this to the news..
My husband and I have been taking dance lessons since March. It has been a very positive experience. The dance teachers here are highly trained and educated in dance, proper posture and fitness for dance. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time and plan to continue. Our goal is purely recreational, and it has been a great way to have fun together while getting some exercise. They also have a great stretch class open to students AND others.
Fun, great experience there.
We rented the venue for my sisters wedding. Everything was very promising. Owner was very open to working with us as we come multiple times to plan our set ups. I am disappointed to say that the elevator broke down approximately a week before the wedding and nothing was done to get it fixed. Loading and unloading took twice as long to get done which delayed the reception. My great grandmother who is 99 years old, could not join us at the reception because she cannot use the stairs. Owner said that we should get her up anyway and call 911 to get her down later on, (how can that be said to an old person whos afraid to even walk).I hired people to decorate the place and have them stayed to clean up so my family dont have to do all the work. My sister who got married and her husband instead of going off on their honeymoon, stayed back until 1am to moved things downstairs because the elevator wasnt working and they felt bad for the decorating ladies who have to move boxes of heavy object down two flights of stairs. Owner provided a Matt and robes to lowered the decoration downstairs. She was not around and her worker brought the Matt and started asking us to put stuff in it. As he was lowering it, stuff came flying down and a couple objects was broken which cost me my $200 deposit fee to the decoration ladies. My family was careful to not break anything all night and in the end I still lost $200. Owner kept asking us to pay her worker for his help that we never asked for. My brother in law gave owner $50 for her workers help because he rather just be done with it.We love to share our special day with people. However, it is lack of manner for food to be eaten from the table before the bride and groom even arrived at the venue. Our wedding director told me the owner and her worker had made do go plates while tables are being set.I have no doubt it is a great place for dance lessons, but as for big/special events such as ours, I feel like the owner should be more attentive in making sure their customers are satisfied, after all it is their big day. Money should never be more important than satisfied customers. We still tried to make the best out of what was available to us. We respect people and never want to bring negativity to anyone. I shared this so that changes can be done for people after us. Im sorry I cannot give more than 1 star.
Melanie is and excellent instructor with a classy ballroom. She has helped me improve my techniques and added a variety of new dance moves to my training.
Prior to my wedding I wanted to setup dance lessons to learn a waltz. The owner Melanie was very easy to work with and she broke down a complicated dance to something we could learn in just a few lessons. She is a tough teacher and will push you but it makes the learning easier. Melanie is able to create dance routines on the fly and shows her great abilities as a teacher. If you need a learn a dance prior to getting married I highly recommend going here.
A Step to Gold is the friendliest warmest place a person can go to meet people, learn to dance, share some wine, and get a little exercise to boot. The studio is spacious, clean and welcoming.
My husband finally agreed to take private ballroom dancing lessons with me. This was a big step for him! Our teacher (Rachel) is very patient, kind and encouraging. She makes my husband feel good about his efforts and happy to come back. Im amazed! The group classes are also a nice way to get instruction and practice dancing with other partners and other teachers. I just wish we could make it to more of them. The price includes unlimited classes, which is what makes it more affordable. Just going to the private classes is an expensive way to go.I have been pleasantly surprised that my husband has wanted to continue. Very glad we chose A Step to Gold!
We started to take lessons here a little over a year ago after we were introduced by a friend to come to one of the Tuesday parties. We did not think we will continue for so long but our interest grows the more we dance. The staff here are excellent and extremely friendly. There is no pressure at all for beginners. The group classes are very helpful and you get to dance with a number of people and get exposed to new dances. All level of dancers are accommodated. There are also exercise classes that Id like to attend. Seems like there are always something going on. We spend a fair amount of time here when we are in town. If you are considering dance lessons or a place to dance, we highly recommend here.
Been taking Dance lessons here for awhile. Instructors are very knowledgeable and easy to work with. Great facility with two large ballrooms. Price performer, with Group lessons and dances included in price of private lessons. Weekly dances so we practice what they are teaching us. Great Friday night date place for my wife and I.
Ive been taking lessons at A Step to Gold since Oct/Nov of 2012 and in that time Ive learned a tremendous amount about dance. I began with their Tuesday Night Free Beginner Lesson and the hardest part is overcoming the fear of stepping through the door. Once inside, the staff and students go to great lengths to make new dancers feel comfortable. One of the best decisions Ive made for my health and sanity.
We met for a work meeting
Wonderful employees and a beautiful atmosphere!
Great atmosphere and very nice people. I could not ask for more.
As a beginner coming to this dance studio from out of town, I was very impressed with the friendliness and professionalism while I took my dance lesson. My dance instructor was knowledgeable and caring during my session. She was concerned about my dance growth. Will definitely return in the future.
A Stop to Gold Ballroom is a great Venue space for any occasion. The owner will work with you for your special event. Highly recommend!!!!!!!
One of the best ballroom dance studios around. The floor is spacious, the music well-chosen for dance, the dance instructors are very good teachers. The people who dance at the studio are all very nice with great manners who dance well. Lots of great parties and opportunities for lessons, in addition to regular showcases.
All of the instructors are excellent, and truly enjoy what they do. They do an outstanding job of making every session or class fun, even for someone with absolutely zero dance experience. My fiance and I look forward to going two or three times a week!
I learned how to dance here and that skill has added greatly to my life. I remember in one of my early classes Melanie, the owner and my instructor, said are you faking and I answered no, if I was faking it I would look a lot better, I am totally lost! She came right over and helped me work out the steps. Melanie always had a light hearted way of putting you at ease and having fun. I was single when I learned how to dance hear and now that I am married I love to just randomly go up to my wife and start dancing. She is always ready to join me and it is one of many things we share.
I love dancing there! Jeff is the best teacher ever! He is very knowledgeable, humorous and good at dancing! He takes care of his student a lot and dont make them feel nervous. He creates a happy atmosphere for newcomers to dance there. I got a Groupon for 33 dollars in the beginning and had two private lessons with Jeff and I also have access to 2 group classes and a party on Thursday night. I loved it so I continued bought 5 more private classes. I learned a lot! Waltz, tango, foxtrot, quickstep, vwaltz. I got my own routine which is wonderful.
OWNER was entitled. Didnt respect or owned self reponsibility . Made others pay for previous renters contracts. Even though place wasnt immaculate previous to renters contract. Knowing they were in a Time constraint .. owners and security claimed they could call police based on disorderly conduct. But never actually did because they were wrong....very disappointed in owners actions.A VERY DISAPPOINTED U.S. ARMY VETERAN
I don’t feel as if the establishment of professional and needs to give clients that are shelling out so much money time for the money they’re paying
My Mother, Sylvia Schell, a renowned Country Line Dance Instructor drug me out on a recent visit to Raleigh. I accompanied her to A Step To Gold to watch her dance so I could spend some quality girl time with her. I brought my computer with me so I had something to occupy myself since I dont know how to dance but was surprised when I got there to find out Tues night is a newcomer night. Jack, the instructor, was so supportive of my novice status and taught me a dance since my sons wedding was coming up and I was clueless on the Mother-Son dance. It was such a non-intimidating atmosphere and Jack didnt even complain about me stepping on his feet. My sons wedding was beautiful and I was able to focus on him and enjoy the amazing day with the confidence I had in the steps I learned. I highly recommend A Step To Gold for anyone from a novice to an expert. I got invited to the Dec 8th, 2013 Holiday Showcase where the beautiful owner is dancing, I cant wait to go!
After being out of practice for over a year and starved for dance, I found a step to gold to be a very welcoming place with a great curriculum and instructors to match. Like anything you love, being a dance student means have to invest time and effort, and if you live in Raleigh and love ballroom dance, you should invest it here.
A Step to Gold has a beautiful facility, and a friendly, knowledgeable staff. It is a very nice ballroom.
Worse expierce ever will not be returning!
