In all my 40 years of owning cars, I don’t think I have ever had great service like I recently experienced at The Foreign Service. It started with my initial arrival. Courteous, professional, funny, welcoming, and, most importantly, very very knowledgeable. This place exudes professionalism and deep topical knowledge. It also doesn’t hurt you get a fantastic loaner car while they’re working on your prized Mercedes. In my six decades of living, I can probably count on one hand how many times I’ve come across something I label a gem. This is one of those gems hidden somewhere in Raleigh that I wish not many people knew about. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t recognize the outstanding service this place provides. I cannot recommend them enough. Be forewarned, however, that because the foreign service has so many loyal return customers, you may have to wait a few weeks before you’re seen. Yes, they are **that** good. While many Mercedes dealers across the country provide excellent service, none of them can hold a candle to this place. It’s an adage you can take a Mercedes to 300,000 miles and beyond. Continuing to have my car serviced at The Foreign Service over its lifetime, I’m confident this will be true. It also means I can’t move too far away from Raleigh as long as I’m a Mercedes driver :)

Have been a number of times to service and improve for my ‘86 560SL. Have found them to be super knowledgeable; quick; friendly and courteous. Able to source parts and provide services that are not generally available for an ‘86. Would not hesitate to recommend and continue to use them.

This place is the best! I will keep taking my 2010 C300 for anything to The Foreign Service.

They are great. I have a 1993 Mercedes G class, euro, that had a ignition and other engine problems, oil leak, etc. They figured out the problem, obtained the difficult to find parts and did a great job. They also gave me a list of additional future items that need to be addressed. I highly recommend their service.

The team at foreign service came highly recommended from another shop that I’ve used for my vintage Porsche. The guys worked me in and did a great job repairing the air conditioning system on my Mercedes. They delivered on budget and on time. They also clean the car up before they delivered it to me which was a nice touch. I will only be using foreign service for the Mercedes.

Foreign Service is like a foreign secret .. rather tucked away ... full of SMART, technical geniuses!! You start out with a joke on the phone from Bruce..then walk into their VERY tidy, clean. Organized operation.. I’ve never seen so many Mercedes! Wanted to take 3 off the lot! But they agreed to take me in for a PreTrip inspection on my 2006 SUV before my long trip. They moved quickly to find what needed tending, took care of it, made me feel very secure in driving 1,000 tomorrow. I’ll be using them til my baby dies (if ever). Totally recommend

My first impression of The Foreign Service was great. This repair shop focus on MB only as other repair shop will have variety of imported vehicles. I was given a loaner car while my radiator was being replaced.I would recommend this company.

I had a quite complex computer problem with a 2007 Mercedes-Benz that several shops had looked at and worked on without being able to properly identify and resolve the problem. Bruce and his team diagnosed the problem, repaired it properly in an efficient and cost-effective way. I’m very impressed with their professionalism and their knowledge of Mercedes-Benz products.

I was referred by other happy customers and although there are closer options I made the correct choice. They have great knowledge and support of my 2009 Mercedes E350. They are professional, communicate thoroughly and there are no shenanigans. If you enjoy your older Mercedes and need a trusted specialist this is the place. Fleet of loaner cars keep you moving and allow them to do the job right.

The Foreign Service has always been my go-to place for Mercedes repair or maintenance. I recently took in my vehicle for a coolant system issue, and even before bringing the vehicle in, they discussed several options. The service was completed the same day, but offered a loaner vehicle if it ended up taking longer. They explained the specifics of what was completed, and were very knowledgeable about the exact problem and why my vehicle was having symptoms. If you have a Mercedes and want a master technician, this should be your place!

I love this shop! They’ve saved me so much money compared to the dealership. Bruce and team are always professional and never high pressure. They have loaners you can borrow while your vehicle is being serviced. And they’re completely transparent — meaning that in the three years that I’ve been doing business with them, there’s been no surprises with costly, unplanned for repairs.

I was searching for a honest and forthcoming Mercedes mechanic and found the foreign car service on line I had my car towed to Mercedes of Fayetteville service department where they charged a fee of 184.00 to check the problem I was having with my SKL 300 the car would not go in gear and check engine light was on they gave me a estament of 2500 dollars to replace the transmission housing case& contact plate that I found to b e excessive so I called foreign car service and spoke with Bruce that was very careing and honest on explaining what the issue could be and was able to get me right in and offer me a loner car to resolve anything that was causing the issue at a fraction that the dealer wanted to change me I feel he was the right shop to take car of my car! Since calling the car just seem to start operating normal with no check engine light on I still plan on taking my car to foreign car service. I would highly recommend them.

Bruce runs a great shop and it is great to work with him. He is very knowledgeable and willing to talk about the situation and different options. Professional operation with personal service, loaner cars, washing my serviced car, etc. Very reasonable prices, no surprises and no up-selling or pressure. They seem to do very good work and document it thoroughly. Highly recommended!

They are still great and keeping my car serviced and on the road. I have spent tons of money at the dealership, and at other places that claim to be Mercedes certified service centers. Believe me, no one, and I mean NO ONE, shows the care, concern, professionalism, and stellar service that you will receive at this shop. Trust me, you will be doing yourself and your Mercedes a service by going to the Foreign Service for all your Mercedes Automotive needs!______________________________________________I cant say enough good things about this place. If you are looking for a place that is serious about keeping your Mercedes-Benz well-maintained then you have come to the right place. Dave and his crew know everything there is to know about Mercedes cars, every model, every year. Their prices are higher than some but it is WORTH IT because they know what they’re doing, they don’t give you a run around on repairs you don’t need, and the work is quality and done right EVERY TIME. Better than the dealership for my Mercedes service. Expert service and care. They always examine major components of my car and advise me of possible future repairs. They understand car repairs arent cheap, but as long as they do quality work at reasonable price, you are likely to come back. Ok, they dont give out soda or pastries, but they can provide a loaner vehicle during scheduled repairs.

I felt very comfortable leaving my vehicle with The Foreign Service. They made me feel at ease in knowing they would handle her repairs in a clear efficient manner and not waste my money on unnecessary items. I will be back for all of my cars services in the future.

I just want to update my review and further endorse The Foreign Service. I recently took my car to a local dealership for a recall and they told me my car looked great... what they failed to mention was that my battery (the original in a 2014 model) was close to biting the dust. The guys at Foreign Service called to notify me it was failing some tests and that since it was the original, it wasn’t if but when would it likely fail me and die. There was no pressure to replace it. It was more of an “FYI don’t be surprised if” scenario. This is the type of people they are. Proactive, not reactive. Fair and informative. I cannot vouch for them enough (10/02/20)Original: I refuse to visit most of the local dealerships in the area because I lack confidence in their knowledge, reliability and professionalism. I love The Foreign Service because I can trust them to take care of my car and me. No gimmicks or bs. Just undeniably the best service and care for a Mercedes in the Triangle. The service orientation of management here, and the mechanics, always amazes me. Dont want to talk bad about the MB dealers, but if you drive a Mercedes Benz and you dont know THE FOREIGN SERVICE, you need to get acquainted. Whenever Ive asked them to do something I forgot, to theyve already taken care of it. Great service from highly trained technicians at a price thats fair.

Recently call them for help was on hold for 5 mins not worth the hassle. There’s a Mercedes mechanic in chapel hill do your research they are much more professional and productive as it seems and has more and better reviews

Battery has been drained several times and could not find problem. They spent time to find problem and fix it.

They are a Mercedes Benz service & repair shop with certified M.B. mechanics. Prices when compared are comparable & in cases a lot less for than M.B. dealers in Raleigh, Durham & Cary. Customer service is consistently outstanding. They seem to stay busy & at times it takes a couple days to get work performed, but, they give you a loaner M.B. at no cost to use til your car is ready. No waiting room frills. Worth your time to compare & try them out. Ive used their service & repair multiple times, and very satisfied.

Such a great experience from start to finish! Bruce was great to deal with and treated us like part of the family. My daughter cracked the rim and ripped the tire on our Mercedes. Bruce worked to get a replacement rim and new tires at a great cost and kept us in the loop on timing of repairs. His estimate of costs was spot on- no hidden fees or costs when we picked it up! Fantastic experience with Bruce and the Foreign Service team. Had a serious scare with my car and wasn’t sure if I had a catastrophic problem or not? The car wouldn’t start and was displaying ominous message “Do not attempt to shift gears”Towed my GLA 250 in on Monday morning and they got me back on the road Wednesday. I know I saved a ton of money over taking it to the dealership. And they washed it and cleaned the interior I absolutely loved that! Could not be happier with them.

The mechanics are well-trained in all the Mercedes-Benz models and communications with their service advisors are clear and prompt. You know your vehicle will be expertly serviced for preventive maintenance. Very satisfactory experience.

I drive a 1989 420SEL and wouldnt think of taking it anywhere else for servicing. My latest servicing involved an emergency in January when my right rear window went down and wouldnt return. I was able to drop the car off without an appointment and had it repaired and returned in two days.

I was in the market for a good used car. Part of my decision to buy a Mercedes Benz was due in part to the great service that my wife receives on her Mercedes by the Foreign Service. These guys are thorough and offer great prices compared to dealerships. They take the time to listen to your concerns about your car and follow through accordingly. Sure, you dont get a foot massage and a latte like you would at a dealership, but you drive away knowing that your car has the best possible service that it can receive. These guys are great!

I had a PPI performed. It took much longer than expected and the report was never delivered. The follow-up phone call left me feeling as if I had inconvenienced him for requesting the report. Only leaving three stars because the PPI was gratis due to the delayed return of the car.

Just had another minor service on my E320 and, as always, it was a first-rate job.Ive been using The Foreign Service for a bit more than four years and have not yet had a negative experience.The FS guys do great work, charge fairly, provide a loaner, and are always friendly.Unfortunately, cars occasionally need fixing. Fortunately, The Foreign Service is there to handle the chore.

Five stars is not enough! One of the few businesses that I recommend without reservation! No need to panic if you have a breakdown, and need emergency service. They find a way to get you going, or provide a loaner vehicle without excuses. Distinctive service every time whether scheduled, or if you get towed in unexpectedly.
