I had a great experience at this location. I was on a work trip for a couple weeks in San Diego and wanted to find a gym to workout at for that limited time. I couldn’t find anywhere that would allow me to get a week by week pass, so I walked into this LA Fitness. I worked with Hunter and then Andrew, the GM, who both sat down with me and took amazing care of me. He listened and understood my situation and made sure I was taken care of with a guest pass that perfectly fit my needs for my limited time. I highly recommend this location. The staff care about people well and they are accommodating! I will continue to workout here. Make sure to ask for Andrew!

Good gym. Friendly staff but they need to turn on the AC. I start sweating once I walk in. And of course they will lie about the membership to get you to spend more. But it’s convenient and close to where I live.

They have group fitness for members and non members every Sunday at 1 which is sick!! Calvin is a great trainer for anybody. I’d definitely recommend this place for any fitness goals

Huge fan of this location! Ive been going here ever since I was a teenager and their facilities had everything that I needed. Super friendly staff and the equipment works great. Employees have very poor and unfriendly communication. I registered my kids at waterworks aquatics, and my kids cant use the shower inside the facility and I have to change their clothes inside the swimming pool area which is very uncomfortable and I know for people who are swimming doesnt look professional of LA Fitness cheap customer service. Very unhappy, never register my kids at that Waterworks Aquatics which has contract with LA Fitness located in Poway rd, AGAIN.

This clubs equipment is not the updated equipment located at the club in 4SRanch or Encinitas. The management does not care about maintaining the proper mask wearing. They claim they dont have the staff to go around the club.

Very bad customer service just they are friendly when you start your membership, but there is no worse of them when it comes to money. They charged people during closing club and they send instead of the refund a credit to use club for free two months when the club will open even though they know the club is closed and also they charge people for an annual fee for 2021 even though they know people didn’t use the club during 2020. How fair that! When you want to cancel your membership, you have to call many times or waiting on line forever.

I used to be a fitness member here about a year ago. Now that I can compare gyms I can write a true review.Value- the monthly payment is well worth it for the amount of equipment they have. They have all the machines and weights needed to do a complete workout. My biggest problem was access. Early morning was my best chance to get on a squat rack. Anytime after 7p was the other option. I avoided the 3p-6p crowd.Cleanliness - compared to sorrento’s LA fitness, the locker rooms here are more spacious and cleaner. But for some reason there was always a stench in the cardio section. Definitely not the gym’s fault but I wish other members would wear deodorantLocation- Great spot on Poway road with plenty of parking. After your workout there are plenty of places to eat nearby.

The most difficult piece of equipment at this gym is the front door. What are you waiting for you can do it

Clean, friendly, Spin class was challenging, enough room to spread out.

The gym itself isnt bad as far as equipment but thats about it. It smells terrible in the locker rooms, probably because theyre always dirty. Ive canceled my membership with them just for them to start taking money from my account again months later. Some of the staff are just douchebags. Especially the little trainer troll with little man syndrome.

The trash cans are constantly full and soap, sanitizer, and paper towels dispensers are constantly empty. Staff can care less about the cleanliness of the place and they depend on the highly understaffed cleaning crew to handle it. The staff sit around at the front and jaw jack while weights are being left all over the place. For some reason there’s a very large outdoor storage container holding maybe a small handle for a cable machine in the middle of the gym.

A really good gym for the money. It has really good equipment and plenty of weights. I dont take classes, but seems like they are popular.

I am a gym member here. Ive brought the staffs attention to a few things here at the gym. And they have done nothing to address any of my concerns. The mens locker room/ bathroom is always dirty. The paper towel dispenser has been empty for god knows how long. They never restock it. The sauna room needs to be redone. The benches wood is deteriorating. The motorcycle parking apace area, is always blocked by cars. Cars park in the motorcycle space. As a motorcycle rider, it would be nice if I can use that is a dedicated area to park. Mind you its only 2 slots. I wish they could keep that area clear for us to use. Other than that. The gym does offer a nice basketball court and new weight lifting equipments.

Good equipment. one power rack and one squat rack. not too busy during lunch hours when I go. staff is generally friendly. sometimes youll see high school students who cant quite figure out how to re rack their weights when theyre done.

Nice gym. Seems fairly new and is kept clean. Includes a pool, basketball court, racquetball courts, and large group fitness room. Good weight equipment. I wish they had better elliptical equipment. I prefer the longer hours of 24 fitness. Still, its close to me and a great value.

I absolutely love the SPIN classes at LA Fitness in Poway. Several classes offered almost every day. Great variety of instructors - each one finds different ways to challenge me. I tried spinning with four or five different instructors at 24-Hour Fitness before committing to LA Fitness. No comparison! Better cycles, better facility, better acoustics. Working great for me!

Pretty dirty gym that hasnt changed in the years Ive been going there. Doesnt even have stretching machines, water pressure in the showers is sad and employees rarely even say hello or look up when walking in.Come & try for yourself

Overall, I like the gym. Its usually not overly crowded other than right after everyone makes their New Years resolutions. Its generally kept pretty clean and well lit, which I like. Clientele is generally courteous (let you work in on machines) and the wait for equipment is seldom long. I dont particularly care for the staff, which rotates in and out frequently and I have not found particularly friendly to questions or welcoming of suggestions of improving the facility (like adding a water bottle filling station so you dont have to hog a water fountain to fill your bottle).

Poor customer service. I spoke to the GM by the name of Ronnie regarding a new membership and it was like speaking to a used car salesman. Every time I would ask a question he would ask me a question back. I asked to be transferred to the corporate office hoping for better service and he became argumentative. He finally agreed to transfer me but then put me on hold for an excessive amount of time until I got tired and hung up. This is why he lost a client to 24 hr fitness 😊

Weve been going here for many years and its always a laid-back good clean place to work out. They could use a more staff on the floor Ive seen people do some pretty stupid things and probably get some guidance. And it would be nice if more people brought their own towels....just sayin 💪

I spoke to Ronnie about DISCUSSING the possibility of getting added on moms account. He added me anyways and charged my moms card for a fee and the increased monthly payment. He was extremely short with me and had no respect for me or my family. I do not recommend anyone go to the la fitness location in Poway to open a membership or even talk to staff. Ive been a member at LA Fitness for several years. They recently added a childrens swim program that randomly eliminates 1-2 lanes. Paying members are asked to stop swimming and give up lanes, even if none others are available. If you are a swimmer I would not recommend this gym.

Club is dirty and equipment older. They rent space out to public to get more money. Customer not important and management doesn’t care.

Several friends have been trying for several weeks to cancel membership but they keep getting the runaround. They are angry enough now they are looking to get a lawyer.

Would you please consider turning off your air conditioner when you are closed in the night? Your AC roof unit keeps making so much noise all 24 hours, even when my window is complete closed, the hum noise from your AC roof unit can enter the room through the walls. Cant you imagine how terrible the sound is everyday? The manager of this location, would you please come to 12609 Robison Blvd, walk up to the 2nd floor, and feel the noise you are making. If the city of Poway has a department for complaining, I will definitely report you. Please either fix your AC or turn it off in the night, so we can have a good sleep at least at night.

The pool is warm and clean. They offer a wide variety of classes, fitness equipment, and have indoor racquetball and basketball.

Been attending aqua fit classes at Poway for quite a number of years. Put up with water leaking from the ceiling, paint peeling, multiple shower problems that take months to fix if ever and now there are kids taking swim lessons in the pool. The water has been constantly cloudy since lessons started so either the contaminant level is high or the chemicals are so strong to counter act this that there are concerns regarding the safety of the pool. I learned that an outside source only checks the pool for safety 3 times a week. This is unacceptable. Teachers are dropping out and there are poor substitutes. May have to look for another gym.

They have all the equipment, pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, racquetball/basketball courts, and a juice bar. But there weekend hours are bad - open til 8:00pm. During the week the hours are good. Til 11:00pm M-TH, 10:00pm on Friday.

The people who work here just shine you off they arent helpful and always on theyre phone. The restroom is horribly dirty and my 7 day guest pass was a bad experience.

Love that this location opens early (Poway location). Its a shame that there is a location less than 1 mile from my house. That club refuses to open early on the weekends. (4s Ranch location)

Its okay, good price and gets the job done.

Prices are way too high, Only thing better than most other gyms is the juice bar. Thats an overrated amenity. Smells really bad right when you walk in. Needs more air flow. Overall not a horrible place, but needs a bit of TLC and more people cleaning the machines when they are finished with them.

Decent and clean place to work out but the staff holds NO standards!1. They allow small children in the work out area. There were two staff members who witnessed the child with the parents while they exercised and either didnt have the courage nor care to uphold the rules.2. Almost every other customer brings their duffel bag out on the gym floor and some even have the nerve to leave their bags on other equipments (treadmill).3. Sandals and flip flops used in gym. A common use in this gym!4. Few members leaving their trash and equipments everywhere possible! Common things in most gyms but when you hold no standards this stands out as well.These issues are all easily identifiable and correctable duties only if the employees cared enough to maintain. I hope this reaches the Poway LA Fitness so they may make these correction soon!

As sales representatives who make some of their money off commission, theyll usually try to sell you their most expensive deals. Dont settle for those and keep bargaining. But the sight is clean but a lot of old equipment packed in small area. There is a Juizzed location here with a lot of knowledgeable employees.

Im giving this place a one star, because of the grim atmosphere at this location. The air is stale and stinky, the lights are dim. The male locker rooms are in terrible condition, the stench in there is unbearable, imagine sticking your head into a sweaty boot of someone who hasnt washed their feet for months and even that might not be as bad as the situation at this place! The carpet is an absolute filth. Overall this place is very poorly maintained demonstrating complete disrespect for its guests.

LA fitness has clubs all over San Diego county. Hot showers, swimming pool, fitness classes, weights both free and machine. Great deal.

The other posts seem to be from haters. I keep a gym bag in the car and a towel to lay on the seat before driving home, but Ive forgotten my clothes in the lockers mpre than once and everything was there days later. Honesty at this place is good, the staff ignore you unless you ask a question and they are totally willing to help. The pool is clean, the sauna is clean, the weights are clean, the floor is clean. Basically its very good...the only things that could be better among other things are if every staff member knew you by name, the equipment was shined and polished every day, there were more free weight cages...

It is a big business but bad customer service. I signed up for training sessions and the rep gave me half the information. I never knew that if you say that I will finish all sessions in 6 months and I dont finish I will be charged $40 a month with one session added to my sessions until I finish. I paid for 6 to 7 months fee just to finish my sessions.I didnt know that when you scan to walk in your training session is charged already even you havent taken the session yet. It is unbelievable.

Out of all the gyms Ive belonged too. The least friendly staff works at LA fitness.

I come into the gym with my cousin who has been here multiple times in the past. He has a guest pass. I’ve been a long term customer of 6-7 years. We are in bit of a hurry so I asked one of the employees who was activity my cousin’s pass if we could skip measuring my cousin’s fat as we were meeting one of my family members there and don’t need to measure it. This employee says “no man you can wait” and proceeds to ask my cousin questions regarding his weight, height, etc. it’s customer service like this that makes me unhappy to come to this specific branch. I understand some customers can be rude but it’s unreasonable for this guy to think he can just talk back to a customer like that. Fix your branch in Poway, LA fitness.

Went in with my girlfriend. She has a membership. I was going to add on to her account. Was going to be $25. But then they say theres a $35 a year fee for gym upkeep. What is the $25 used for? So I will not be getting the membership there.

Older Gym but good place to work out.

The management staff is very friendly and the gym equipment is in decent shape. Average size gym but has basically everything needed. Plenty of classes as well as swimming pool, basketball and racquetball courts. Locker rooms, showers are fine, the lounge area is a nice extra. Parking is easy to find and there is a bike rack outside the gym.The only real issues are the lack of circulation and cleanliness. The gym gets very warm and there are no fans moving the air. The ventilation system does not seem to be working well. That and none of the cardio equipment has mini fans built in. Only about 25% of the gym members carry a towel to wipe off equipment with and you rarely see anyone wiping down the equipment they just used. I have never seen any staff cleaning equipment. Case in point is for over a week a band-aid is stuffed into one of the cardio machines ipod holder. I wouldnt be surprised if it was still there in a month. So its a good idea to really take a good shower and make sure you wash your hands before leaving.

I have been going to gyms for some time now so I am used to the pushy personal trainers and the rock solid contract they make you sign, but this company has no values or morals. They also have no concern or understanding for their members. There is no room for grey area and when you call the corporate office you get sent to a “management team” of customer service representatives which means they are all managers so what they say goes and there are no exceptions. They mostly sound like people who don’t have much information other than the ability to say “Our policy does not allow that.”I was not informed that I was unable to backdate my cancellation if I provided proof that I moved. Proof that shows the date of when I moved. They will only cancel once they receive the paperwork and it goes towards your next bill. So if you are moving and have a reason to cancel you need to do it first thing. I am sure cancelling your gym membership is your top priority when you move. I was a caregiver for my friend dying of cancer and I was in contact with my personal trainer but that does not matter.In fact Jeremiah in the Poway, CA store was the first one I told I was out of town and that I wanted to cancel my policy. He convinced me to keep the membership and accrue my sessions for when I return. When I realized I was not returning I lost all those sessions and he got his commission from them I am sure. He also failed to mention that I was able to put my gym portion of the membership on hold since I was gone. (They keep the gym contract and the personal trainer contract separate very sneaky guys. So you have to cancel twice and they have different criteria to cancel for each policy.)When I called months later to inform them that I am still out of town I was informed of the hold policy at that time which I requested and was never granted until I requested again a few months after I noticed it was not processed. (How convenient for them) I finally got out of the contract but lost $680.00 in unused personal training sessions and gym usage because where I moved did not have an LA Fitness that I could use my membership at.You have to give them some credit though they know how to higher ruthless sales people. I thought Jeremiah was such a sweet none pushy salesperson who honestly wanted me to succeed, even when he talked me into a year contract knowing I would be leaving the area in six months even before the situation with my friend happened. He told me it was for my best interests to save money and I can just cancel when I leave. No big deal. Lessoned learned LA Fitness. I would recommend a local gym or even 24 hour fitness they seem to have more consideration for their members and less about trying to take one over on their members in a time of need.

Love this gym been a member for more than a year now, I never have to wait for a machine, and no its not empty. Management is nice to their employees and clients, some clients are so germaphobic, you cant keep every client happy in a big gym. Overall its a great gym, I wish they would be open longer though, I get off work at midnight. And would love to work out before bed, but cant, chuze, and 24 hour fitness are always open, if this location was open 24/7 you would have more clients trust me.

Can get hot, but good amount of machines so youre usually able to get on what you need even at peak times.

Bad. They charged membership fee continuously without any notice even though I registered for just 2 months at first. And they do not keep their word.

I left because every time I came I asked a member of staff if anyone had cleaned stair master and they stated it does by cleaning crew at night. I explained every time this perticular man was on he left a puddle ready for mopping. They still declined to clean it or saycanything to the swamp man.

Very clean and not too busy. Plenty of parking. Hide your clothes as I caught a dude sniffing dirty chonies in the shower room.

I tried to use a 3 day complimentary pass which is extremely disrespected among the staff. after coming off a 4 hour flight and wanting to workout, i asked them what i needed to do to use the pass. the female working the front desk said shed help me. 10 minutes had passed wih me just standing there and she literally just walked out, after making eye contact, to go home. the ONLY redeeming factor about this place was that my nephew knew someone to get me in. i guess only members get to be treated like people.
