I’ve been seeing Chris for a couple years, and he is the most skilled hairdresser/stylist I’ve ever had. He listens to your requests, he is personable and fun. And professional. I always leave feeling better about my appearance after leaving the salon. His infectious personality makes the experience pleasant and relaxing. Ive always felt heard and cared for when coming in for a cut and color. Theyre always so attentive and make sure I am happy from start to finish, it feels like they actually care about how I look and not just rushing through. I received an outstanding facial like none other. You’re on a massage table in a private room and the facial includes multiple treatments, a mask, an incredible scalp massage, chest, arm and hand massage. It was a spiritual experience! Loved it!!

I have been going to Hair M for years and thought it time I offer a review.If you are a man looking for a quality haircut in the Portland area, then this should be the only place you look. The staff are friendly, attentive and quick. The stylists are top notch and the haircuts are repeatedly among the best...which I have always had trouble finding consistency in a mens cut until I came here...and the location, ambience, whatever you want to call it is great. I go to hair M/W in the Pearl and I never feel out of place or like I am walking into a salon for ladies that happens to do mens hair.About the only thing I would improve upon or change is the app...I dont use it because I have never been able to get it to work. Instead, I just book online using my laptop and and old-fashioned web browser.

I was saved from disaster. but really, when you know what you want is complex and you request level 6 stylist because you know you need the expertise, but marketing strategies wont let them schedule you as requested. front desk needs work.

Because of some bad experiences Im careful with who I pick to cut my hair.After around 2 hours of digging through reviews and websites of the hair salons and barber shops of Portland, I finally landed on Hair M and chose to book with Luisa.That was a year ago and so far I can say with confidence that Hair M is by far the best place Ive ever gone to take care of my hair. Id give it a 6/5 star if I could.Not only are all the staff friendly and fun to talk to, I get the impression that everyone who works at Hair M really enjoys what they do. Walking in, I never feel uncomfortable and I always feel welcomed.Luisa is the first stylist Ive found where I feel 100% confident that she will do an amazing job every time I see her. My hair always comes out exactly how I want it, when I go to Patrick. Super thorough. And every single hair is cut symmetrically. I highly recommend, if you care about your hair being cut to perfection.

Very overpriced for a normal haircut! Pearl cut used to be a premium cut incl. head massage, peppermint oil, arm massage... now its just a normal 30-minute haircut with nothing special but still the same price of $70-90. The cut is good but I really came for the special experience and relaxation.

I requested a master colorist, was promised I would be happy with a lesser level colorist. 6 months and 1200$ later. My hair is destroyed. I called to let them know the final color ( Ash blonde) completely washed out after one shampoo at home, I was told to buy an expensive shampoo/conditioner to get the color back.The staff is great, everyone is very warm and welcoming. But the quality of the hair care is seriously lacking. Go elsewhere.

I got a fantastic haircut from Diane at Hair MW. Shes a total pro and it shows. From the truly luxurious scalp massage to her very precise cutting style, I could tell she really knew what she was doing.Best of all, she actually listened when I told her how I wanted my hair to look. I came-in on a walk-in basis around 11a. They were able to accommodate me easily. The hair stylist who helped me did an excellent job, and two months down the road it’s still looking great! (See photo). My favorite part about this place aside from the great style, service, and wide selection of care products- is that you can have a few brews. They have a beer license. Coming from California personally, this is completely new to me, but welcome at that! Usually a haircut is not something I look forward to, but in this case with hair MW, they’ve turned that around. I will continue to have my hair cut here.

I had a really awful cut from a different place when I came in. My hair was longer on one side than the other, the layers were disconnected, and I couldnt style it.Girts is amazing! He has a great eye for detail. He was able to fix my hair and now I can do so much with it. It looks healthier too!

As always, Taylor gave me an amazing experience and made my hair exactly to specifications. Having gone there for just over two years (holy cow!), I leave nothing but satisfied every time. Every hair dresser there seems quick to fix mistakes and willing to take feedback without issue.The only negative experience I had was an experimentation with my hair, and, surprisingly, they were able to revert it back to a state that left me happy. Im always left satisfied and they are seemingly always willing to redo a disliked hairstyle free of charge.

My hair was a mess. I was tired of it hanging in my face all the time and was ready to just have it chopped off. I did a quick Google search and chose Hair MW because of the five star rating and positive reviews. The first person I spoke to said the cut I was wanting was not within his realm of expertise but if I where to come back in an hour he would hook me up. I appreciated the honesty because I am rather particular about my hair. Wyatt was my stylist. He talked me down from the thoughts of choppery and delivered exactly what I was looking for, the layered and feathered 70s Shag cut. It looks and feels so fabulous and still has enough length to ponytail it back when needed. I wish I could include a picture with my review but take my word for it. You know the picture of Fabio riding his horse on the beach with his hair flowing out behind him. Yeah, thats exactly what I look like now !!!!!! Thank you Wyatt. I will see you again soon.

Excellent Service!This is a great salon in the Pearl and provides exceptional service for both Men and Women. They provide sugaring as an alternative to waxing and it is amazing. If you have not tried sugaring I would give it a try in a heartbeat!

Last time, I had had my haircut at Y Chrome and received a fantastic cut, student discount and it was $30 w/ tip. This time I came here since it looked like the same ownership and got half a haircut with a $50 price tag because the stylist was a higher level. If she was a higher level then maybe the leveling should be re-evaluated. I asked for half off the top, she didnt even touch it. She barely groomed around the ears and didnt even touch the back of my neck. I would have been fine with $50 if I was given a full cut, but this left a bad taste in my mouth.

I drove an hour just to get my bangs cut here. I saw all of the great reviews and thought it was well worth the trip - and it was!! Brielle (sorry, spelling may be off) was the one who cut my hair and she couldn’t have done a better job!!! I showed her pictures of what I wanted and she did exactly that. Everyone there was so friendly and the atmosphere made me very comfortable. :)

I followed Kelly Peach here from her old saloon and I love it. The environment is great, plus you can have a glass of wine while waiting on your hair.Kelly is amazing. She is hugely talented and I always come out looking like a movie star! I love this place. It is a little pricey, but I am one who believes in paying for quality and that is what you get here.I hear great things about the massages to, so thats next on my list.Oh and they carry Oribe products which are amazing and I highly recommend!

Hair M|W is one of my favorite places in Portland to go and be nurtured. The staff are amazing, very talented, helpful and friendly. I love being there in such a lovely environment where I know all of my needs will be attended to. Its also the only place I take my 6.5 yr old son for a cut. He loves the Orange juice and always looks so handsome after his service.

My wife always gets a great cut and style here and has a great time. If Im going along Ill set up in the barber section and hey my fade tightened up and beard trimmed by one of the barbers.Whether youre a man or woman this is a great spot. Definitely try out a scalp and hand massage with got towel treatment and shoulder rub. Trust me on this one, treat yourself at least once!There are products of all sorts for both genders as well as makeup.The massage therapists are amazing and you wont regret it.Finally, a pro tip: sign up and pay for a membership for free stuff and legit discounts.

I had an amazing experience here and Im a chain skeptic. I normally avoid chain establishments, unless its Nordstrom. My son is 13 and I started taking him to the Hair M last year in downtown Portland and he loved it (and I loved the glass of wine I got while I waited for him). So, when Hair W opened in the Pearl I decided to try it. Weve been here almost two years and I still hadnt found anywhere I liked enough to take the place of the guy who had done my hair for 10 years in San Francisco. Kelly exceeded all my expectations. She listened to me and was patient with my long drawn out story about my hair history. She was fun to talk to during my highlight and cut. I looked fabulous when I was done so I didnt even wince when I paid up. Ill be going back. I may have found my new Scott.

Salon was beautiful but unfortunately my hair cut wasnt. It was pretty awful I think her name was Lacey or something with an L. I showed her a picture of a hair cut I wanted and told her what I liked and and the cut I got wasnt even close to anything I wanted but not only that it was just a really bad cut. I can accept it not looking how I asked but at least make it look good. It looked like she just chopped off a few inches and didnt bother to blend anything or make it even.Sadly it is hard to find someone that gives quality hair cuts and almost impossible to find somebody that gives amazing hair cuts. Theres a lot of good options for color and maybe shes good at that but as far as hair cuts if ur looking for a great hair cut she wasnt it.

I come in once a month for a kings cut, haircut and beard trim the staff always remember my name very courteous always offer to get me a drink and Taylor is fantastic with the Clippers. They really make you feel more like a guest than a customer!

I had the WORST HIGHLIGHTS COLOR IN MY LIFE! Went back to have it fixed but the manager kept saying that my hair was doing the opposite after being their for almost 3 hour I wasnt happy at all. My friends and family say that it looks awful, my hair is very damaged. Im actually in depression I dont even like to fix my hair anymore ....I asked for full highlights from the roots to end, I got who knows what with RED. VERY DISAPPOINTED NEVER GOING BACK TO HAIR M/W. Not worth $225 + TIP. I just wish that I could get my money back and go to a better hair salon. Im sorry Hair M/W but thats the truth !!

I moved to Portland a little over a month ago from San Francisco, where I had an excellent stylist who had both salon and barbershop skills.Unfortunately ever since moving to PDX Ive struggled with finding someone who had the knowledge and skills my SF stylist had. Ive gone twice to barbershops here and each time left disappointed. It wasnt that their skills were bad, but they didnt have that great hybrid approach so that basically the sides were barbershop perfect, while the top was properly texturized and styled so that youd have an overall excellent cut.So I called up Hair M / W due to their Yelp reviews, described my history and situation, and was referred to Olivia. To say she gave me an absolutely perfect cut is an understatement. She turned my hair, which had been slaughtered in some respects by the barbers here, into something that was modern, age appropriate, and perfectly styled. She also took the time to walk me through some great product recommendations, which also happened to be Vegan (a big plus for me), in addition to showing me how to better style my hair at home. Oh, and did I mention the actual cutting space and experience was terrific to boot? This was my third and final time at hair M. This was my first time at the Pearl Location, within walking distance to my home, so I was hoping to make it my regular and buy a premium membership if this experience was a good one, as well. Unfortunately, the experience was lacking in several ways.My first two experiences were in Beaverton and I had wonderful results with my first time stylist there. I was using this as my third and final to see if I wanted to continue and buy a bigger membership deal for my future cuts. Unfortunately, it was not a satisfactory haircut experience for 4 MAIN REASONS:1/2) LATE STYLIST/DID NOT FULFILL KINGS CUT FULLY: My first visit to the Pearl location was an appointment and I was waiting at least 15 minutes before I saw the Master Stylist who obviously arrived late an tired. Staff was obviously not ready to receive as many people they had scheduled for the first appointments of the day. When the stylist said she was done and asked what I thought, I was surprised with no fade and she didnt go short on the sides as re, and she did NOT use the straight razor on my neck, and she did not accomplish the shortness /fade I asked for.After I asked her to go much shorter, she seemed irritated and rushed and when she asked what I thought, I could tell she was trying to hurry for her next appointment (she rushed me out and met with the next client and apologized for being late, something she did not do for my cut when she arrived late). So I just said it was okay because I did not want her to do it a third time while irritated. Also, my neck was never shaved and I never received a neck massage, as is included in the Kings cut. The massage would have been nice after my long work night, but I REALLY needed the razor cut and fade so my cut can last. I only take one day off a month and I dont have time to cut into my schedule too frequently.3) CUT DID NOT LAST OR LOOK GOOD PAST THAT DAY:Because she did not shave my neck, and it was not a very short fade at all, my neck line and and hair on the side and back grew out way faster, requiring a cut much sooner than I have needed in the past from the previous stylist in Beaverton .4) STYLIST DID NOT FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS I ASKED FOR: I initially asked for a hard part (cut with a razor) and notified her of a mole on my neck to be careful while buzzing and shaving with the razor. I did NOT ask to SKIP the neck shave.... OR the massage included in a Kings Cut.She later asked me if I wanted a hard part... and did not remember my explicit request for a hard part. I work long hours and sleep just before work and this helps me with quick readying & my schedule. The hard part was barely noticeable and she moved it from the previous location further down. Because of this, and her not understanding my hair pattern, the hair fell down that she had combed over, so there was an odd line & I had to buzz it off myself because it looked so bad.... When you add the fact that the hard part was not noticeable as a part, I feel she failed miserably at this aspect and KEY FEATURE of my haircut and desired, sharp look while on camera.Needless to say, this is one of the worst haircuts I have experienced from a rushed, sleepy and inattentive Master Stylist. I do know that they offer a complimentary neck trim within two weeks, but I dont have time for this and I have never needed in the past when my previous Hair M stylist was able to shave my neck, with NO problem.I was really looking forward to a location within walking distance from home that I could continue to get the amazing experience received in Beaverton twice before. I now have to get my hair cut in less than half the time I was able to wait before, the staff was slow/late, and I had a difficult experience getting any useful information from the receptionist about the membership program.I enjoyed getting my cut and scalp massage, mainly because of the glass of wine. Very little else impressed me, and the actual cut and experience with the stylist was very underwhelming and disappointing.
