I sent my car there in May to have the lock cylinder replaced. He used done nothing to my car and has made every excuse possible and has been avoiding us and when he does answer he makes excuses or is rude and insulting. 105 days with no work done and has lied about the work he said he would get done. On top of that he charged my wife for parts and repair on her car then when she went to drive it home it almost wrecked because he misdiagnosed a whole in the transmission. I would not use this joke of a shop as it could literally kill you or a loved one and not to mention cost you for tow fees and stress.
Very fair and considerate person he doesnt over charge and he is straight to the point
Employee was very polite and friendly. He quickly greeted me and isolated the problem.
The owner is super knowledgeable, thorough and goes above and beyond with service.
Honest. Forthright. Timely. Great prices. Great service. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Took my VW here and told him what was going on.. got charged $700 for a new clutch that I didnt need. I knew the problem wasnt fixed as soon I started it. Decided to take it else where and had my tires lock up ON THE FREEWAY ON MY WAY HOME due to a transmission malfunction (the original problem) would NOT recommend..
Awesome service, great rates, professional folk. Thanks again!
Rich is awesome!!!!!! We were quoted close to 4000 dollars in repairs at a VW dealership and Rich was able to help us for a fraction of that price. He was quick, helpful, and explained things in terms I could understand! If you have a VW don’t go anywhere else but here!!!
John can say whatever he wants to me. Time wasters. Used to be great.
Rich and his crew are quick, affordable, and clearly passionate about the cars they work on. He kept my priorities in mind and me in the loop while bringing my busted old Rabbit into a much happier condition at a very competitive price. Great shop, will return.
This is the Best place in Portland to bring your VW or Subaru
I was concerned initially reading some of these reviews but trusted my gut and had Rich work on my car. I was expecting it to take a few days as I could see he was busy but my car was ready the next business day on a job that took quite a few hours to complete. I usually do my own work on my car but this was a time consuming repair I had him tackle. Since it was my first experience there (and having been burned by the local VW dealer shop in my town before vowing to never go back there) I double checked everything under the hood in the area worked on - everything was tight, clean, not a single point of concern. Ive caught other shops messing with things on my car that they had no business touching looking for more work, Rich was honest and did not do any of that. He gave me some tips on things to watch out for with my 20 year old diesel that are common to the vehicle and charged exactly what was quoted. Id recommend his shop without reservation.
FUH is legit. Straightforward, casual-professional consultation with practical follow up. Offered a free diagnostic on an old beast of a vehicle - Practical, concise advice. Classic old mechanics car lot. Check em out!
Rich and all of his guys are Absolutely fantastic. They dont cut corners, provide great customer service, and do great work all at a good price. I wouldnt trust anyone else with my TDI.
I just dont trust this guy. He promised things he didnt follow through on - its either a memory issue on his part or hes just trying to get more money out of a job. Either way, I wont be taking my car back here. Theres another VW auto repair shop in SE Portland that is WAY better and has far clearer communication and does a better job.
Would never go anywhere else for our VW repairs and services again. Fix-Um Haus does amazing work and continues to provide amazing service. My wife and I had an awful experience working with VW dealerships (Armstrong & Herzog-Meier) for the last year with an issue that kept happening. The dealerships werent able to figure out how to fix it. We finally decided to take it to Fix-Um Haus, despite dealerships recommending only to use them, and Fix-UM Haus immediately figured out what needed to be done to our car.
About Rich Totally Professionals and Most Accommodating his Precision Analytics are Impeccable how do i know this because i been wrenchin for 40 years n he is the BOMB
The owner, Rich us an outstanding guy. Ive been taking my 2003 VW Jetta to him and it has always been running like its new.
Friend suggested it. Thought Id come by and check it out. Rick took it in the next day, checked my car out, repaired everything I asked and I noticed that a couple of other things along the way. Very nice guys, respectful and can understand your needs.
Friendly staff and always offer a good deal
Brought in my 2004 Touareg to get trans pressure sensors replaced, got the car back 4.5 weeks later in the same condition I left it. I left a couple polite voicemails which are still unanswered (good month or so later)Benefit of the doubt they didn’t charge me much. Not bad guys just understaffed and overwhelmed. You get what you pay for I guess
I got a recommendation from a fellow Beetle owner who couldn’t recommend him more highly. I called the number, left a message. They returned my call and left a message. First thing next day they checked back with me by text! (Yes! My kind of business!). He called and we talked about my car’s issue. He was far more knowledgeable than the dealership or any other service center in town. I can’t wait to take my beetle to him. I live 20 miles south, and I think I found a keeper!
They know their stuff and dont mess around. Very busy shop but usually theyll take my car in within a day or two. Sooner for emergencies. They have fair prices and stand by their work. Downsides - no system to track work done so keep your receipts. Also because theyre busy they mostly keep my car running vs maintained. I love German/ European cars but Im tempted to go Japanese just to have closer and more repair shop options. I guess this is why folks lease vehicles.
Been coming to Rich since 2014. Would never take my VW anywhere else. Plain and simple.
Rich took the time to look at every aspect of my car and didnt try to sell me anything that didnt need to be done. Honest and great service. Will definitely be back for all my service and repair needs.
They are my go-to for working on my Eurovan. It has had several random issues - as all VWs do - and these guys are great at doing what is needed and discussing the things that are optional or might cost more. Incredibly trustworthy and always looking for solutions that are right for the customer, not how much they can make off of someone. Also will be bringing my Subaru to them now that they work on those too. Thanks Rich and team
Always willing to help with suggestions on how to get your vehicle back on the road.
Whish there was a negative star to give these clowns. Not sure where to start but what a Mickey Mouse show. Long story short they tried using a used parts from a JUNK YARD until I found out and demanded a new part to be installed...maybe the plan was to charge for new part but use the used part. (Ask to see old parts). Not to mention other stuff they found wrong with my car, but theyre not worth me typing all that out. STAY AWAY!
Major TDI diety. All bow your heads to the awesome power of his 10mm wrench.
Smart, hard working, friendly. Best shop Ive found. I will be bringing both cars here from now on.
Ive had my Golf worked on here multiple times. They have always done great work, shown real passion for the profession and offered incredibly fair deals for every issue. Best mechanic Ive used.
The owner is great guy he is very knowledgeable and professional and I recommend him for all your car issued he also works on other cars beside vw and Audi, give him a call for all your needs including servicing your car
Good guys. Solid price. Timely manner.
They did a great job. I will be going back for service.
Rich is the man. Honest, caring, kind, and a hell of a good mechanic. Would take my POS truck to them for any kind of work, anytime. What a great experience.
Good price and quick service
Agree with all that is said here. Ive taken my car there for 9 years. They are always busy and does good work at the best price he can give you.
I know this guy is honest because while having other minor work done on my Vanagon I asked him to check my squeeky brakes. He checked and told me that they were 90%, instead of running up a bill. Their fast, efficient and affordable too.
They are direct and to the point. I been taken my car there for years. Im very happy with the outcome and the owner is very knowledgeable
I would recommend Fix’em Hays to anyone. Marcel and his crew are ethical and really look out for their customers.
Very fair and expedient. And they always answer the phone.
Brought my recently purchased 82 Vanagon Westfalia conversion in for electrical problems. Rich removed a relay to bypass what was thought to be the problem to wiper and heater motor not working. Except removing that relay apparently resulted in them being on full time without the key. He asked me to drop the vehicle off the next day at 8 am and said he would figure it out. Unfortunately, other priorities came up and he couldnt get to it. Meanwhile, I went out and purchased a new battery that he advised to get and installed it myself. In hindsight I did get all new fuses and wiper blades, but didnt get the electrical to work right. Rich seems like a good guy just has a lot more work on his hands than he can handle.
Take your TDI here. They know these cars as well as anyone. The prices are reasonable. Just try not to be in a rush. They prefer to take their time.
I’m pretty sure this is a front for a thriving MDMA business. And I think they fix cars?
Best place for VW service.
These guys are the best and worth the wait (if there is one)!
I learned to drive in a 1959 VW Microbus long ago. I don’t know what got into me last summer, but I purchased a 1987 VW Vanagon (4 speed manual transmission). It was newly painted and nice looking, but was in need of some mechanical repairs. After checking out several local shops online and telephone interviewing them, I decided on a shop that was located reasonably close to where I live. The first time I took the Vanagon to the shop I asked for a diagnostic check and some mechanical repairs (brakes, transmission, odometer, rune-up, alignment, dash lights, etc.). They did decent work repairing what I asked them to repair. I thought that the cost was somewhat high, though. I had to take my car back several times to the shop because I discovered new problems appeared after each “fix” and the car was always in the shop days longer than expected. Furthermore, the owner of the shop, although knowledgeable, was somewhat dismissive when I asked questions about the repairs and the Vanagon itself. A few days ago, I discovered a problem with the temperature gauge. When I called the shop and was told that they would not be able to look at my Vanagon until February, I decided to try a new shop even it were located farther away from where I live. That is when I discovered and called Fix-Um Haus. My conversation was the owner, Rick, was like night and day compared to my conversations with the owner of the previous shop. Rick was courteous, friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. My call was on a Friday and he was able to schedule an appointment for me on the following Monday (today). I dropped off my Vanagon around 9 AM and was called back around 1 PM with the good news that the problems (bad voltage regulator and bad coolant temperature sensor) were fixed and the price was reasonable. Same day service at a reasonable price – you can’t ask for more. I should mention that the mechanic, Marcel, who worked on my Vanagon was great. He was very knowledgeable, very friendly and did an outstanding job. After driving home, I realized the Vanagon runs and sounds better than ever. What a great car repair experience! I’ll be back. P.S. They work on all VWs and Porsches.
I took my Jetta to Canyon Auto Repair... way over charged and did not fix my starting problem(I know they lied to me, thinking that I would not understand mechanical terms.).Even though they are the other side of town for me, Fix-Um Haus knew exactly what was wrong.Thats all they do is Volkswagen, so they really know there stuff. Fix-Um Haus is really popular among the VW enthusiast in Portland, which makes them very busy. I recommend calling first and making an appointment. Of course, they will accommodate drop-offs, but you might have to wait a bit.
Awesome place for all your VW repair and maintenance needs honest knowledgeable and reasonable
Down to earth and honest, I would not want to take my car to anyone else.
Honest, fair, and very reasonable. Pretty nice people too!
Always done fast.
Ive been taking my 2000 Jetta to Rich since I moved to NoPo years ago and even now that I moved back to Beaverton Im still going to him. He is a straight shooter, he will tell you exactly what needs to be fixed and is very fair. I had another guy in Hillsboro that I trusted but he closed so Rich is pretty much my go-to guy. If you have any sort of VW I would recommend him. Heck, I would recommend him for any car because he is just such a stand-up guy who will never cheat you which seems rare nowadays.
This is the only place i will take my WV Jetta 2003 to! the mechanic (Rich) was so honest, nice and was answering all my questions patiently. I was panicking after spending so much on my car and still having problems. i took it to 2 other places, one was the VW dealer and the price to fix came to the actual value of the car. Not only that, the vw dealer werent sure if it was going to fix the problem, they just wanted to try if it will work out. Considering that i was on a tight budget and after spending a lot on this car, i was really devastated. So, i found Fix um haus on line (they have 5 star reviews) and talked with Rich. he was very laid back, nice and calmed me down and the price he offered me was reasonable compared to other prices i was getting. Not only that, he told me that the problem on my car could not be fixed by changing the part the dealer told me to change (and that was a similar suggestion from my friends who happen to have some knowledge about cars). Instead, Rich suggested to fix sth else that could possibly fix it at a reasonable price and it seems to get my car going now. In any case, fix um haus helped me repair my car with a reasonable price, (the oil consumption is still there, which i may come back for) but everything else is fine now.I highly recommend Fix um haus if you have VW.Also, they fixed my car on a timely manner and I was so happy about that too.I admire them for these reasons : Honesty, knowledge, reasonable repair price and time.Ariam
The only truly honest mechanic I’ve ever met! I will be hesitant to ever buy a car that cant be fixed here.
These guys are bombtastic! I cant say enough good things about them. They are the only people that Ill take my 2004 Jetta TDI Wagon to. Their pricing is more than fair...they use genuine VW parts and they live and breath VW.
If you have a VW, its the place to go. Fair prices and quality work.
Great and honest VW mechanics.
Polite and knowledgeable!
A no-BS joint~ great results~
Straight shooting and reliable.
Rich was super helpful.
Not to be trusted
I was never there!
My man Marcel
Honest and kind mechanic
