Just over 2 years ago State Farm dropped my insurance policies (2 cars and home) after 14 years of loyalty. Although our driving records had been very clean, we were dropped because of a random string of 3 accidents, 2 of which were minor and if advised differently would have maintained our policies. I have had Eric as my agent for 15 years now.  Over the years, Eric has proactively found ways to reduce my premiums without me asking him to while still having the same coverage.  Ive been able to get insurance added to any new cars Ive purchased instantly with just a phone call and even get home insurance setup and sent off to my title company for any house Ive bought.  Eric is that responsive.  Ive had to make a couple of claims (one for my house and one for damage to my car windshield) and those went through so smoothly.  I even have my life insurance through him.  Eric is very easy to work with and has your best interest in mind.Eric looks after his clients and makes sure they get the right coverage for their needs. He doesnt try to oversell anything and I appreciate his honesty and value his feedback when choosing the right coverage for my auto, home, and life. This includes his feedback for earthquake insurance and even a rider for my wifes wedding ring.  I have recommended Eric to several of my friends and they all love using him and I will always recommend him to anyone else looking to switch insurance companies.

I currently have my house, all my cars & valuables insured by Eric/Country Insurance.I am writing this review because Eric deserves it. I have had Eric as my agent for maybe 8 years now and MY EXPERIENCE WITH HIM/COUNTRY HAS BEEN AMAZING!!My Story:I have repeatedly called Eric on nights, weekends and occasionally holidays and he always picks up his cell phone and greets you as if you called him during the normal work hours. I always tell my friends about Eric by telling them about one of the first times I called him. It was on a Sunday evening and I was expecting to leave a message with the hope he would get back to me the next day. To my surprise, Eric picked up the phone all while feeding his new born child and answered my questions without a single bit of hesitation, he followed up the next day and and made sure the issue I called about was resolved. I will stay with Eric and Country Insurance solely because of actions like this. People like this should be rewarded for their hard work, every minute he spends with me on the phone is one away from his family and children.Another significant sign of Erics character as an agent has to be how willing he is to work WITH his clients. Just a few weeks ago Eric came to MY house so that he could get wet signatures. As a side note, he ALSO offered to help me work on a few house projects I was in the middle of at the time, who does that??Eric knows the insurance business and how to work within the Country companies to get things done for you. I have never had an issue he couldnt solve or get covered in 24 hours. Eric has been our insurance agent for the last five years and we could not be happier. HIs customer care is second to none. We recently had our neighbors giant oak tree fall into our fence, wifes car and front lawn. Eric was over the next day, accessing our situation and suggesting options for repair/restoration. I dont think anyone works harder in the industry than Eric at retaining and educating his clients.

Eric was the worst, lest knowledgeable, most useless insurance agent Ive ever had! He is wonderful at doing nothing but accepting premiums but terrible at providing actual information regarding coverage and advice regarding necessary coverage protection.I was with him for years and not once did he point out that homeowners policies exclude any damage from water that comes in from outside the home, regardless of how it happened, i.e., defect in foundation, etc. Had he been knowledgeable in anything other than accepting premiums and advised me of this fact (you know, his job) I would have had the option of obtaining supplemental insurance.Eric is a useless agent and I would caution anyone considering getting insurance through him. In my opinion he is totally incompetent and requires significant remedial training, and I wouldnt trust him or Country Financial if I were you.

On the Friday before Christmas Sunday, my car had arrived at the dealership and I was in need of someone to reinstate or otherwise get me signed back up with auto insurance through Country. The agent I had worked with previously was out-of-touch and the phone help line pretty much said he was the only one who could do anything. Lacking any other ideas, I called Eric, the closest agent to my new place. He answered and, after discussing the situation, decided to help me out. I met him in his shwanky waterfront office and we got it done. I walked out with the paperwork I needed and renters insurance for less than I was quoted for liability only at State Farm and Geico. Hopefully I will be working with him in the future!

Ive been with Eric at Country Financial since I moved to Portland in 2009. He has been, by a longshot, the most diligent and knowledgeable insurance professional Ive ever dealt with. Here are 3 reasons why:1. Erics turnaround time is within 1-2 days, and unless hes driving or in a meeting, hell always pick up his cell. Came in handy when I needed homeowners insurance declaration for my refi closing that I waited until the last minute (shame on me). He is also a walking encyclopedia of claims and policy expertise, and hes on the money on all the details that I needed to fill out for a complete & timely claims payout.2. Unsolicited and unprompted, he advises you all sorts of ways to save money and gain value from your premiums. Weve utilized teachers discount, good driver, combined homeowner, industry association, among others at his behest to save $400-500/yr in premiums. This is on top of $300 I saved from moving my auto from Progressive. Moreover, when I discovered a crack in my windshield Eric referred me to a preferred rock chip shop that fixed it free of charge.3. Weve never had issues with claims - Eric takes care to set up your information the right way the first time, so it doesnt get stuck in processing and yield additional paperwork. He also serves as tireless go-between the adjusters office and proactively delivers status updates before thinking to ask.Insurance is not the most exciting transaction for me, but arguably one of the most important because of profound implications it can have in the course of my life events. Im compelled to write this because among the countless people hes helped over his 15 years, perhaps not enough of his beneficiaries have set the record straight against few of the detractors that I see here - Ive sent or shared Erics contact to at least a dozen in my circle and without exception they echo all the observations above. I have nothing more to gain from writing this post, and conversely I hope nothing is taken away from his stellar rep by the few who may have drawn questionable conclusions.I look forward to the next 30 years of the same support from Eric, as hes done for the last 7. Ive had eric since I was in my early 20s, the rates he got me on my motorcycle, truck, and home no one else could compete with. Hes always there to answer my calls or questions day or night. He has my as a life long customer.
