These guys are the best. I am not typically one to write reviews. I am very good at doing most work myself but this was out of my league. Their quality, selection, and service was top notch. They are the best from start to finish! Excellent customer service and attention to detail. We had an unusual bathroom counter area that the measure person figured out perfectly and even the install guys had to make an adjustment onsite in order for it to fit correctly. No problem for them at all. It was installed perfectly. We have used them for a full granite kitchen and will continue to call them for future projects. They do a great job!

I hired Granite Works to remove all old countertops and install new granite in my kitchen, laundry room, and work station in my kitchen. My initial experience was very good. I will say from the beginning to end, each encounter was generally friendly, with this family owned business. Just to set the dynamics of this business, the Father & Mother run it with two Daughters assisting in sales and measurements. When I arrived in their store, I was greeted and I discussed what I was after and they answered all my questions and prices were extremely attractive. The initial measurement went as expected and she was on time and took laser measurements for accuracy. Took an hour.I had selected pieces so my kitchen would match my work station because it is in the kitchen area and I wanted that to match. I received a call back from Amber and she indicated that they had enough to do both areas but not the laundry room, which was fine because they were in separate areas. I chose a remnant which turned out great.I placed the order for the stone and scheduled for the work. Scotty and James, the installers, arrived as expected. They began removing the old countertops. I felt they were a little careless in the removal as they tore up portions of the drywall completely through so there were literally large holes in areas into the wall. Other areas the paper from the drywall was ripped, which would have not been a big deal if the backsplash covered it up. Unfortunately, that was not the case in multiple areas where I had to mud the walls and repaint. Let me also say that both these guys are very nice. However, they are very concerned about keeping on their schedule and had to cut corners to do so. This is very evident as they were back 3 additional times for corrections. I do not fault them entirely, this comes from a scheduling perspective. After the removal began, things went as expected until they got to a corner piece. They hauled it in and it was obvious the piece was not measured correctly. They contacted Angel who wanted his Daughter, Maychen, who took the measurement come out and figure out what she had done wrong. She arrived and re-measured. They indicated that they could use the piece that was supposed to be installed for the work station and they could get a matching piece from another store.Fast forward 2 weeks and they returned with the new pieces for install. The new piece fit better. Still a gap on sides but it was beneath the counter so I was willing to overlook. They began to install the work station countertop and it was apparent that the color was not a match to the kitchen. Much whiter than what we had in the kitchen because it was from a different stock. Also, the method they had decided to use to brace this counter was unacceptable. They used hand cut 2”x4” and they wanted to cut out a portion of the electrical outlet to make way for the brace that had to line up with the stud in the wall. I wouldn’t let them cut the cover so they installed it just outside of the cover. I asked to meet with Angel who came out and acknowledged that it should not have been installed that way and remeasured for a different brace, which he had fabricated. He pointed out a few other things he didn’t like about the install and I showed him pieces that were cut wrong where someone glued a piece together to make it fit as well as a piece of the backsplash that has cracked that they glued together.Fast forward 3 weeks and they returned to make corrections. The brace went in without a flaw and looked very good. The other corrections they made to the seams were not really any better than before. Once again, in a hurry to get it done and on to the next job.I decided this was probably going to be the best I would see, so I cut my losses and was honestly ready to put this experience behind me.Bottom line is, I let price over rule my judgement. They can do easy installs, but if your project requires workmanship, this is not the place. Nice family and installers, but I would not recommend.

Everything was okay EXCEPT THE WORKMANSHIP. The hole for the faucet was drilled on site and had made large chips around the top. They did admit fault and returned to fix it. From what you can see in the photos its a very unprofessional job . The epoxy filler doesnt blend colors, it isnt level and has a large void that is easily visible. No professional or reputable company would stand behind this level of work.Box stores carry the exact same brands and colors at a lower price. If you are trying to support a local business like us thinking you will get a some degree of higher quality look elsewhere. Granite Works will make the sale but thats about it.

4.75 Stars! We had Scotty and James out to install our countertops last week, and they did a phenomenal job! Angel is to be commended for hiring and retaining such professional installers. Amber did a great job in helping with the original selection process; Maychen was great on the measurement process, and everyone was very professional in answering all our questions and concerns. On top of a beautiful granite counter, we installed a coordinating composite sink, and then I purchased a new bronze faucet to complete the look. It has turned our so-so kitchen into something beautiful, useful, and with a coordinated look.I knocked off just a .25 of a point for one minor, easily correctable thing: When the plumber came to reinstall the plumbing (recommended by Granite Works, he also did a great job), I noticed that the installers didnt clean up under the sink from cutting the hole for the faucet. So had to get that done myself. Thanks Angel and Granite Works for a great job!

Everyone we worked with was great. Angel spoke to us about the differences between granite and quartz. This helped a lot to make our decision. Then Amber helped with the order. She helped us to make the decisions on the small details that you dont think of until it is final. Maychem came out and measured and was very professional and was thoughtful to take her shoes off at the door. She also was welcoming to our dog. The installers were great. They were very respectful of our furniture and the small space that they were working in. It was a difficult install and they did a great job. It was a very easy experience and the results turned out great. Great service, great experience and excellent results. We will be using them again soon for our bathroom remodels.

Its been a year since our kitchen granite was installed, and we are as happy today as we were on installation day.We checked out 6 businesses before ordering from Granite Works --- 3 in Portage/Kalamazoo and 3 in Grand Rapids. We chose Granite Works for their willingness to help us and for their pricing.A bit of advice:1) Selecting and installing granite is a big deal. Before you go to the shop, grab one of your drawers, a sample of your flooring and even a swatch of your wall color. Youre going to be making some big decisions and these items will help you pick out pieces that will enhance what you already have in your house.2) Be realistic in your time frame. Once you make your decision, someone will come out and measure your house, slabs may need to be ordered, when they arrive the granite will be cut and installations will be scheduled.3) It may take a couple of weeks, but it is so worth it!We would definitely go back if we ever remodeled another home. The prices were very competitive and the service was great.

Overall, we were satisfied with our experience using Granite Works. They were very accommodating and extended their business hours for us a couple of times. When our chosen granite broke, they compensated us by offering us a more expensive stone at the price of the original one. They were definitely the cheapest around. Also, they offered quick installation and we are ecstatic with the way it turned out. There were a couple of cons, however. They called us back a couple of days before installation and stated that we were going to be charged for more square footage than was originally measured. Even after installation we were charged for almost 6 more square feet than what we had installed in our kitchen. (Seems pretty shady to me.) Also, there were a couple of small issues that wouldnt have been addressed if we werent there during installation. Thank goodness my fiancé works in construction so he could fix them during the process. The installers were on time, super friendly, and answered all of my questions! I would use Granite Works again, and would recommend them to anyone as long as they were present during the installation process. Again we are very happy with how it all turned out!

We ordered our kitchen granite and sink through them. They ordered the sink through their suggested company and had it mailed directly to us. We kept the box in the garage until they came to install the granite and sink. A part of the sink was missing and they told us since it was delivered directly we were responsible and would have to buy a new part. I tried to resolve this with their management but was told they were not liable and they would not get me the new piece. I would also be careful if you buy granite from them. The sample piece they had us take home had a nice smooth polished surface but when they delivered our countertops they were not polished well and had tons of rough spots. I was told I should have caught this when we picked out the slab which may be true. So be very careful and inspect closely when you pick out your actual slab as the polish job was very inferior. Again I was told it was not their problem.

The issues escalated when we were working with Angel. We came to review the slab we had picked out and to finalize the design. Other employees said we could have our counter as one piece but on this trip we were told they would have to put in a seam cut from different parts. I was confused and asked questions to clarify what the issues with the size were and what it means to cut from different parts. Through our conversation Angel started to show signs or irritation and acted agitated—talking quickly, raising his voice, bouncing on his toes and shifting his weight aggressively. The receptionist tried to explain an issue and he hostilely snapped at her. While still in the heightened, frustrated state they urged us into adding a four inch backsplash. Ultimately, this decision we felt bullied into: we were unable to take our time, consider carefully our options, and consult professionally with the workers who would be cutting our granite and who would enter our home to install it. My wife after the encounter said that she felt unsafe in that moment and would feel unsafe with that person in our home. That night when we realized we did not want a four inch back splash we called the store and left a message. Afraid those who cut the slab would be in early and would not be in charge of checking messages, we also called the person who measured our kitchen on the phone he uses for work. He answered, was extremely welcoming and made sure our slab would not be cut. The next morning I got an angry call from Angel who said he would prefer not to work with us (also articulating other angrily worded issues) and he stated he would give us our deposit back. I talked him down and we conversed in a more business like way and made plans to move forward with the project. Later that day my wife expressed to me concerns over working with a violent person and bringing him into our home. We would not be able to negotiate with Angel through the troubleshooting process in regard to cutting and installing our countertops. They created an aggressive and potentially dangerous situation and were unfit on their end to complete the work.I called the store to see if we could work out special terms in the cancelling of the contract because Angel expressed his dissatisfaction with working with us. One issue he has, besides our layout questions from earlier, is that we had to measure our kitchen twice because a cabinet had to be adjusted. The measurements, with the technology they use, takes only a few minutes—it is done by machine, I think it involves lasers. After Angel hangs up on me when I try to discuss the terms for terminating the contract (or for potentially working with someone else) he sends a refund for half of our deposit. He cancelled the contract. At no point did I tell them I will be cancelling the contract or to send a refund. He kept a portion of the deposit as a restocking fee ($685) which is a charge not stipulated in the contract and that I was not notified of until the receipt came by email.

We had quartz countertops installed by Granite Works recently. We had a mostly pleasant experience. Our initial quote was based on square footage provided by a different vendor who had already measured. After GW measured, it came out to 4 sq ft more. This was due to an L shaped piece that was cut as a single piece instead of 2 pieces with a seam, so we ended up paying a few hundred dollars more. communication was sparse, so we didnt find this out until the quartz was already cut. Would have been nice to know ahead of time that having a seam would have given us a break on price. However, even with paying a few hundred more than anticipated, GW was still cheaper than other options.Given the choice to do t again, I would still pick GW because of the significant cost difference. Just go in knowing that communication takes some time. They are probably able to keep costs down by not having much staff so make sure to plan ahead since it can take a few days to get email responses and a few tries to get someone on the phone. We had pleasant experiences in the show room. The staff was knowledgeable on colors and styles and they even catered to the demands of my 2 year old who wanted to hold hands and be shown around the room.Installation was quick and smooth. The installers were very friendly. There were a couple of stains on our slabs from the workshop which they pointed out and then buffed out. They did ask for payment before they left, but I wasnt told they would be asking, so I didnt pay them. I dropped off the remainder at the showroom later that day and it wasnt a problem.Overall a pretty good experience and I would definitely recommend GW if your budget is tight and you heed the caveats from my review and others.

Shouldve gotten everything in writing and not paid when I wasnt satisfied. Granite works made promises and didnt follow through. I had over 70 sq ft of granite put into the kitchen in my house that I was getting ready to list for sale. They knew that I was getting ready to leave the country. Measurements were off by 3/4 and backsplash was slanted. We had fissures and cracks on almost every piece (which they had originally promised to leave out). One of our backsplash pieces cracked in half on the day of installation. Called them several times that morning and left a message but never got a call back. Wrote an email and sent in pictures because it wasnt what we asked for. Installer guy reassured us that Granite Works backed up their work. My mistake for believing him because once granite works got their money they refuse to come and fix the problem we had with our countertops because it was good enough.

This is one busy place! I came in on a Saturday and the sales girl was on a fork lift moving Granite Slabs all by herself. She welcomed me, told me to look around and she would be with me in a few minutes. WOW!!!! Lots of Granite... Overwhelming if you ask me, but thats a good thing if you want selection. I looked for a bit as she finished up with her customers and I could not help to overhear her talk. That girl has some ENERGY! She clearly LOVES her job. I felt good listening to her explain all about Granite. It was my turn :) as Margie introduced herself to me. I took pictures of my Kitchen and kind of had an idea of what I wanted but was nervous at the same time. She took complete control, suggested some granite, sent me home with samples, gave me her cell number for communication and done deal. She is like a good girlfriend that will tell you if it looks bad or the color is ok... NEVER PUSHY. She knows what she is doing. She wants it to looks perfect for me, in fact she said she does everyones Kitchen as she would do her own. She said she wanted me to be happy and LOVE my granite, and that my happiness would be a reflection of her job well done. Margie is FULL OF LIFE, FULL OF ENERGY and VERY PASSIONATE about her job. After a text to her (on a Sunday) that the piece she sent me home with was perfect we set up an appointment for measure. After measure, I got to pick my slab of granite, lay it out, schedule an install date and here I am writing the review. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GRANITE WORKS. I am HAPPY!!!
