The service they bring are great. I create a service ticket for a couple of issues and in 24 hrs. the maintenance engineer John repair and replace it leaving all set. Thanks for all.
Amazing! The staff have always been great to me. So nice, informing, caring, all the positive words you can think of!😊 I used to deliver to the apartments when I was working for FedEx, so I built great relationships with the staff in the office and some of the residents. I was super excited to move in! Quiet community, the neighbors are super friendly. I’ve never been happier with where I’m living.
Everyone who works here has been helpful, professional, and very friendly. They made our application experience super easy, and we were able to move in really quickly. The rent here is a bit more than we had paid at a nearby apartment complex, but the quality of everything here is immeasurably better. Better neighbors, better staff, more amenities, etc. Some amenities I am excited about include a dishwasher, a lock and buzzer on the apartment hallway entrance, as well as outdoor lockable storage. I am so glad I moved to The View apartments. Because of COVID there havent been many opportunities to participate in the events here, but I am excited to do so in the future.
Johnny is very professional, kind and caring of his residents. He came out to take care of our tub and had it up and going within less than 10 minutes. The job is always done well and in a timely manor. He goes out of his way to take great care of your property. Our pets absolutely love him as well!
I love how responsive the staff at The View is, they always get back to my emails in a timely manner! It’s an overall clean and kept environment and I don’t typically hear other residents through my walls. My pups and I love spending time at the dog park - the downside being that many other residents aren’t held accountable for not cleaning up after their animals :( While this may be something a bit out of management’s control, I would like to see someone walking the grounds/ parks more frequently to insure people aren’t having their dogs off leash and are cleaning up after their pups appropriately!! Other than negligence from bad dog owners I would recommend this complex to any of my friends :)
My daughter loves that they have two pools! The staff at The view have always been friendly and professional. Highly recommend!
I love living here. The staff is friendly and attentive. They now all their residents - who belongs and who doesnt. Im a long time resident and plan to be here for many more years!
Great office staff. Always friendly. Service team is very professional and fast. The 24 hour fitness center is great too.
Johnny is very respectful when he enters your house. Gets right to work and gives great advice if you need. I asked him a question about my toilets and he suggested a cleaning product that would work better for what I needed.
Took a tour here and seemed like a nice, quiet community. Unfortunately I am no longer moving to the area, but I was bummed that I couldn’t live there.
From day one, we had issues. They gave us the key to move in at 11:00am, but realized the carpet needed to be replaced and the whole apartment was not cleaned. We had everything ready to move in but had to wait until 6:00pm move in day to even bring anything inside, which was frustrating because we had people lined up to help us move. They quickly slapped down some carpet and called it good, without replacing any broken appliances. After moving in, our apartment had a bad smell. The dishwasher was completely broken and the other appliances were very outdated. It took a year of being there to finally replace the oven and they still never replaced the broken dishwasher. Not having a dishwasher, I had to wash everything by hand which was a hassle but manageable, but then the water in the sinks were only producing a small stream not capable of washing dishes. After bringing this to managements attention, the water never got fixed and they would pass the blame on someone else such as “the city of Portage.” Any time you took a shower there was dirt present in the water, tiles were missing from the shower that they said would take days to replace. (This should have been done before move in) There is a community washer and dryer that was very small and outdated and expensive to use, 80% of the time the washer would not work or the dryer. After talking to management about this, they would never fully replace it and just do a temporary fix or tell us to use another buildings washer and dryer. I had to take my laundry to the laundry mat most of the time and spend even more money. In the summertime, the pool is green and filled with leaves, can’t even enjoy the perks of having a pool. Whenever the AC or furnace was turned out it sounded liked a rocket ship and was constantly running. This made our electric bill outrageous. Rent was already over $1,000 a month and nothing in the apartment reflected what we were supposedly paying for. The head maintenance guy also was begging for 5 star reviews when you would talk to him. This is not how a business should be ran. I hope this review deters people away from choosing this apartment complex, save your money and frustration and find somewhere else.
My heat needed to be fixed so I called to put in a maintenance request and Johnny showed up in less than 10 minutes. He had a very nice attitude and I felt confident in him fixing it; which he did! He also went out of his way to fix my closet doors that were off hinged; very pleased with his service!
The area is really nice and the staff here is great. I highly recommend them!!
We took over someones lease and have been here for a little over a week now. Maddie who works in the office is very sweet and helpful. There were a few things that needed fixed from the previous tenants. I called and mentioned them and maintenence was here to fix those issues same day. Maintenence (unfortunately didnt get his name) was very nice and did a great job.We love our new home, all of the amenities, and the kind staff.
When we first moved in (about a year and 4 months ago) there’s were numerous things wrong with our apartment, our stovetop got too hot, our sinks didn’t work and leaked, and our closet doors were all falling apart. Frustrating, the old maintenance guy didn’t listen to us and ignored our complaints. We finally got some really great help today!David came in with a great attitude, he listened to our needs and didn’t brush them off. He was very kind. He fixed our stovetop (which had the wrong receptor in it) he also replaced our leaky faucet that we’ve been having issues with since day ONE! He addressed our concerns and had no issues correcting the problem. David is great asset.
So I am a 22 year old fresh outta college and this is my first apartment.Bottom line: 5 star because of value and location. Gonna list cons as well, but none of them bother me enough to make it 4 stars.Been living here for 4 months now, and the main thing I love is the price/value. Its one of the cheaper apartments in the area, but it does not sacrifice really anything besides maybe hard floors and kitchen appliances (see kitchen photo), but you can get nicer appliances if you pay a little more per month.Pros:- Cheap rent and super spacious (see living room photo).- Covered Parking (optional for $20/month).- SUPER helpful staff/concierge people. Work order requests handled promptly.- LOCATION. Like a 2 minute drive to every single store that you would ever need. Uber to downtown KZoo only costs $10 usually - not bad for nights out- Every apartment has a nice little balcony and storage closet.- Dog park. I dont have a dog, but it is nice to ask neighbors to pet theirs.Cons:- Utilities not included in price. Living by myself, I spend anywhere between $100 and $150 in summer months.- Not a very lively community and not many community events for people who live here. I dont ever hear parties going on in my building... Keep in mind I am a 22 year old, who wants excitement.- Not many other young people. A lot of people here have kids. Some are even older.- Thin-ish walls. Like once in a blue moon I can hear kids shouting. But honestly its infrequent and doesnt bother me.Excuse the distortion on the attached photos... they were taken using pano-mode
I love the community its quiet management is very respectful. And down to earth Its very clean lawn care maintenance always on point. Its like a big family residence are helpfull and very respectful. Animal friendly community. Ill give them 10 stars. If it was possible
I have lived at the view for 2 years and I love it. They are very responsive and nice.
Great service, but some tenants just dont care about others living here, especially if they have young children. Some teens in my entrance/buildings decided to make the common hallway a track field and sprint/SLAM doors while yelling up and down 3 flights of stairs, throwing shoes in the hallway as well, late at night past noise curfew. Never resolved the issue and went on for over a year.
Bad quality and theres mice and really bad smells in the kitchen, the price is not reasonable for this trash this is a ripoff
Our water heater stopped heating we contacted maintenance Johnny came over determined it needed a new sensor which he had to order since we were going to be without hot water he told us to get a card that would open the exercise/business building so we could use the showers in the morning. I went over got a card from the office supper helpful. In the morning he showed up before 11:00 with the part got it repaired and now we have hot water. If I could I’d give Johnny a 10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
Loved apartment when first moved in (been here since late 2018). Since that time maintenance has really gone down hill. Had numerous issues with air conditioning. This issue was so bad that they finally put in new unit. The new unit had a hole in it when they put it in. YES you read that right, they put in a new unit they KNEW was defective. Just to make things even better we now have mold and mushroom things growing in our living room.Door in our hallway was falling off the hinges and we were told a new door was ordered back in January. We have yet to see a new door. Wall in hallway was damaged when some one moved out back in March and that has not been fixed. They are just not keeping up with the maintenance at all.
So far we have had a great experience here! We moved in at the end of August 2019 and they’ve tried very hard to make our experience a pleasant one. When there was a miscommunication with the type of condo we wanted, they updated all of our appliances. When we needed lights replaced, they’ve been out within the day. When we needed our drain unplugged or our kitchen spray attachment replaced they’ve been more than happy to replace and upgrade us.The staff are very friendly and a pleasure to meet with. We feel safe and our kids love the park and hills for sledding. If you’re looking for a friendly community with great service close to Kalamazoo, I recommend here!
Really wish they had more than one washer and dryer in each building. Ive seen other apartments that are way cheaper with like 5 in each building
From the beginning they were super friendly and professionalThe application process was simple apartment i viewed was cleanWhen i saw my apartment the day before i moved in the ac was getting fixed (new ac) and carpet was cleanedIts been couple days since i moved here and i love itVery quiet and super friendlyThey were still nice after i moved in100% recommend moving here if u canOnly lowering because i been smelling cigarette in my apartment for the past 2-3 weeksAsked about it and only wrote a letter to peopleStopped for about a week and it got worse
Good location near mall and westnedge.
Wonderful staff that truly cares about its residents. They have spacious floor plans to choose from, including three bedrooms! I love that this community is pet friendly and has pet parks! Not to mention it’s in a great location, near shopping and restaurants. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for their next home in the area.
Any time I have an maintenance issue, Johnny is always there quick and gets it done right. Ive lived at many complexes before, but the service here seems to go beyond what is expected. Your maintenance needs a raise in their pay to show how appreciated they really are.
Wonderful property - I dont normally leave reviews but staff member Ryan was so helpful, professional, and made our apartment seeking experience exceptional; I thought it was more than justified to publicize that. He went out of his way to ensure all of our questions were thoroughly answered and our needs were met. Highly recommend this property.
Ive been staying in the View Apartments @ Portage since 3 years now and I can say I had a pleasant experience. The maintenance in the overall community is good and consistent. And the service team is awesome, always with smiling faces!Weve had a couple of issues with our apartment over the last year and Johnny from Service Team(I guess hes the service manager) responded immediately and fixed them permanently. Hes the best! Thankyou Johnny and the team.
The View apartments is a Good place to live and its a very nice community and people out here are very nice and they will help you with stuff if you need help and people respect you as the person you are Thanks Maddie for having us out here to Live Derek and Martina and Nevaeh Keep up the Good work Maddie God Bless you..........
Its a very quiet apartment community that we live in. Most of our neighbors are very considerate and kind. Any issue Ive ever had and had to call maintenance they were there within 24 hour. Its a very clean and safe place to live
I toured this residence and it was spectacular. I wanted to go on a vacation but after touring these apartments, that want was fulfilled. It was an absolute delight! Vincent guided me through every step and it was extremely stress free.
Staff is awesome and always ready to assist and help. Maintenance and grounds personnel are always on time and provide attention to detail. Renewed my lease because of their process, the apartment and proximity to the local area. Always willing to work with you!BRAVO ZULU TO THE STAFF AT THE VIEW!!
What a great place to live! Loved our time there, super family friendly. Staff continued to assist us even after we moved. Patrick and his team go above and beyond to ensure residents feel comfortable. Cant say enough good things about the team at The View!
I toured this complex and was very impressed! Everything was clean and I really liked the layout. Vincent was extremely knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. He made the process fun and easy!
Honestly this place has helped me allot. The two guys are both very helpful and welcoming. I had a concern about something in the apartment when I moved in and they jumped on the ball and put a work order in. I just got all moved in and still finishing up some last min. paper work. The over all satisfaction of the view Is Amazing! Welcoming and very quiet!!!! I would strongly recommend this place to anyone that is in need of a nice quiet place to call home! The two guys in the office are there for you and are so friendly! Thank you View Apartments!!!
The View is an extremely conveniently located apartment complex with a good layout and isnt overpopulated like some complexes. My first interaction with anyone was with Arie. This guy is an amazing representative of the company and all around great guy. He makes the viewing and leasing process painless. One of his many great attributes is how personable he is. He doesnt view people as customers, he gets to know them. On only my second visit he remembered who I was by name. He greets everyone by name. It really helps develop a good atmosphere. The maintenance aspect was definitely lacking; however, it has been on the rise since the new maintenance manager took over. Hes doing a great job getting the grounds and apartments back on track. The parking can get crowded at times, but there are numerous places to park. Covered parking is also available at a reasonable cost. The pet friendly atmosphere is a great bonus. Not only are many animals allowed, but they have bags around the grounds to clean up after your dog and a dog park for them to play in.Overall, this complex is a great place. It was at a rough spot for awhile, but the team and new maintenance staff are doing a great job getting things back up to par.
I been at the view for almost two years now and i have nothing but good things to say about the management and maintenance staff. Every time i have an issue or problem they go above and beyond to help out and take care of it. Thanks for everything you guys do for us, I appreciate it.
Johny was amazing for me today. I needed help with getting my heat on and not only was he quick but he was friendly and even took some time to show me how the fireplace worked. Great Customer service!
Would like to say thank you to the maintenance team. Dishwasher was replaced within one week and done so quickly. Thank you also for making sure everything was cleaned up on your departure. Very pleased.
The office staff is extremely accommodating and friendly.
My husband and I have lived at The View for just under a year and we have really loved it here. The rent is reasonable and you cant here your neighbors through the walls. We really enjoy having the dog park, as well as the friendly residents that we have met there. The office staff are always friendly and helpful too. I cannot comment too much on maintenance as we have only had one encounter with them, and it was during the time a new maintenance manager was taking over so they were in transition. My one and only complaint is the plow service. The roads in the complex were always well maintained...the only problem were the parking spots themselves. They were almost never plowed. With that said, this has been a fantastic complex to live in, and definitely the BEST complex Ive ever lived in.
Friendly staff and a quiet place to live!
What a beautiful place! The staff is amazing! Its always a blessing having the younger generation treat you with such kindness and respect What a great experience!
Maintenance Jonny buck is the beat maintenance guy Iv ever dealt with at an apartment complex. The other maintenance guys need some work. Overall it’s not a bad place to live. Ran into a few problems with our A/C unit, but Jonny went out of his way and got us a brand new unit. So big shout out to him for helping us.
Very nice place to live, we have had no issues at all in the year we have lived here! Staff is friendly and helpful. 5 stars!!
I absolutely love living at The View Apartments and Townhomes! From day one, my experience has been nothing but superb. Their amazing staff found me the perfect apartment and I couldnt be more thankful. Pat, Arie, and Vince all made me feel like family from the time I moved in. I see Pat, the property manager, picking weeds every morning to make sure the grounds look pristine for its residents and it shows! I absolutely love sitting on my balcony and watching the sunset while looking over the beautiful landscape that they keep in tip-top shape! Johnny, the service manager, and all of his team members always greets me with a smile and ask if everything is OK with my apartment, which really means a lot. Matt, Merrill, and Johnny, the service guys, are just as meticulous with the grounds and landscaping as Pat. All-in-all, my experience at The View has been nothing short of spectacular and I cant thank the team enough for making my new home everything I couldve asked for!
Maintenance staff is on point. I have reported several things that needed repaired and the manger was right on it. Thanks for keeping the place up and not falling apart.
We absolutely love this community! We have lived here for over a year & just transferred from a 3rd floor beautiful 2 bedroom apartment into an even more beautiful 2 bedroom townhome with ease. Every problem we came across was easily rectified by the office staff. I also would like to state that Johnny the maintenance manager is super kind! The day we moved into our townhome he brought over a temporary oven for us while our new one was on back order. We didn’t expect this & were very happy about it! He just came over again today & hooked up our new oven.I highly recommended this place if you’re looking for a wonderful place to live! They also have community parties/cookouts in the clubhouse often 😏🙌🏼
The office staff is great and the maintenance crew is top notch. Very much enjoy living here.
My experience with the view was beyond exceptional. Great customer service. If there is something that you need fixed the crew is right on top of it. The complex is in a beautiful location with lots of restraunts, grocery stores, and shopping stores very close by. The staff is very welcoming and the neighbors were very nice and respectful.
Bad maintainence. The ambience of the apartments is bad. The apartments are built a long time ago, they are very very old. The put a lot of chlorine in the swimming pool. If you get into the swimming pool with out swim goggles, eyes will start irritating. I lived in this place for an year and I would definitely not recommend this place to any one
Absolutely the worst apartment complex for working with new tenants. I confirmed with 2 different people about the $150 deposit before I went through with the application. As soon as I found out I was approved I told them immediately I did not wish to continue with the move in process and they assured me my money would be back in 48 hours, when it wasn’t I called and they told me that I would no longer get it back because I took to long to let them know?! I confirmed I would get it back before even continuing. I’ve called 10+ to speak with the property manager, they say he will call back within the hour and have yet to hear anything. Terrible, I’ve never seen anything like this place.
Disrespectful property manager and horrible attitude for the maintenance supervisor.
Moved in a couple of weeks ago and expected a renovated apartment like the website states. I called them about my apartment being completely outdated and my counters being scratched up from previous people and all they wanted was more money out of me to pay for renovations. What? The website clearly says in the Apartment descriptions that the counters are granite like and the cabinets are white with nickle. NONE of this is accurate. I said that their webpage says that this was included in the Apartment descriptions and all theyre doing is making up excuse after excuse. Why do I have to ask for my apartment to be renovated when it is completely used up and outdated?!? There is mold in my shower, my toilets and on my curtains. I clean them and it comes back. I am completely heartbroken that I paid so much money to get into this place and it has been nothing, but a huge disaster. Will not be recommending anyone to live here and I already cannot wait to move out of this dump.
I have edited my post to more accurately describe the changes in general that I have experienced/witnessed. In two years, the townhomes have been through three companies. The original company at least had an out for people living here that were buying homes. Dont expect any leeway if you are building or buying a home. The previous company also had a super nice staff and maintenance crew (they seem to have disappeared). I believed based on the interaction that they were a smaller company and it seemed like the manager and staff actually had ability to make decisions and felt almost like they were neighbors rather than administrators. With the new company there are more restrictions and a higher rent with no upgrades for current residents. If those things dont bother you, it is otherwise a great place to live with nice neighbors and good location and dogs are allowed. The new company did not distribute thorough leasing information (other than rental increase) when they took over, so it wasnt until people actually looked at their new leases would the changes and restrictions become apparent, not really enough time to find another place. Now that it is run by a larger corporation, they just dont have the same rapport with residents but they have instituted rent increases in both locations. The new people all act friendly and professional but clearly run under a larger corporate management and have little ability to do much to make your stay better. Also be aware that the Vistas (Annas Vinyard) is now owned by the same company. Village Green appears to own numerous properties all across the country, and dealing with them feels like going through an automated customer service system in a large company.
Great place and community. Vincent is friendly and very helpful!
My experience at the View has been great, the staff works hard to bring people together with regular potlucks and events / fundraisers to help our community, which is refreshing ! The staff is friendly and accommodating.
We moved in April 2017. Let me start by saying that if I could give this place 0 stars I would. (They put the wrong address on our lease, and still won’t own up to the mistake!) Before we signed our lease we asked if we would be able to see the apartment we were moving into prior to moving. They kept putting us off until the day before we were to move in. They did not clean our carpets or cupboards or anything prior to us moving in. My boyfriend had to stay home from work to be sure the cleaning crew cleaned properly. And thank goodness he did because the cleaning guys told him they were not allowed to move our furniture. Then 3 weeks into our stay here we found out from the AT&T guy that the address they had put on our lease was incorrect and the place we thought we lived did not actually exist. We live in the apartments and they had put the street that the townhomes are on with our apartment number. Needless to say we tried transferring all of our billing and mail into this non-existing address. We ended up stealing someone across the streets Consumers bill and the water never truly got transferred. When we realized what had happened I went into the office to figure out what to do and the manager proceeded to put white out on our lease… They ended up allowing me to take the back pay from Consumers out of our rent one month, after fighting with them for three months about it. However, after 6 months of living here we are still fighting with them about our water bill. The new manager refuses to do anything about it other than say “I’m sorry, I’ll get this taken care of” (which is all we have gotten for two months) and is now refusing to call us back or see us in person. We have also left massages for the corporate office and have not received any calls back either. I work two jobs and don’t have time to fight with these people. I would never recommend living here!
DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!! THEY ARE HORRIBLE ON SO MANY GROUNDS....THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR RENTALS AND THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO RENT FROM THEM, THEY ROB YOU AND THEY WILL NOT FIX ANY ISSUES YOU HAVE WITH THEIR APPLIANCES. THEY ALSO WILL NOT LET YOU SMOKE WEED EVEN IF ITS PROSCRIBED TO DYING CANCER PATIENTS WHO USE IT FOR PAIN AND SO FOURTH.
Such friendly staff and community!
Great service excellent communication.
TWO pools?! I love the townhomes and the full space you get with the basement!
Today has marked the three week mark that I have submitted a work order and no one has come. I asked office staff on week two why has it taken so long? They never apologized or said they would send anyone out right away. They only said that its hard for maintenance because they shovel the snow for the facility. But yet our parking spots have at least 4 inches of snow pilled up, which makes it hard to walk to your car. I pay my rent on time, every month!! So for me to have to wait three weeks is beyond disappointing. This place is very unorganized. This is a very nice place as far as decent neigbors but I wouldnt recommend anyone to rent here due to management
Great staff and overall great apartments.
Very nice place. Great staff here.
I moved here because I have a dog and this place has two dog parks, I was really looking forward to the environment, but honestly it is disappointing. They never refill the bags in the park to clean up the dogs poop, so there is literally poop everywhere. Not to mention all of the obstacles in the park are broken, and dismantled.
New landscaping really makes it more inviting.
The third time people have stole my packages from our building. Absolutely no security and the view does not care and does nothing about it. Do not move here.
Ive only been living at the view for a few months now, but so far my experience has been terrible. The neighbors are loud and disrespectful. Despite having privacy fences to separate townhouses they wander on to our side anyways. I have caught the neighbor peering inside of our unit multiple times, and when confronted he said it was to retrieve a ball his kids hit on to our side. The ball didnt land in our living room. Now I know what youre thinking thats not managements fault but we have said something to them multiple times and they dont do anything. He doesnt have his visitors park in visitor spaces, and often takes up multiple parking spots from people PAYING to live here, but management does nothing. We pay good money to live here, and dont feel valued at all. Cant wait until the time comes so we can move out.
Peaceful enviroment.
If you want to live in a place where nothing gets fixed, where the people on the payroll are given a free pass to harass you at their leisure, and where you are guaranteed to pay more and more every year without seeing any improvements of value, then The Villages of Portage and Village Green could be the place for you!I have lived here for 6+ years. During that time this place just has just gotten worse and worse. About a year and a half into living here things started to go downhill. They stopped cleaning the corridors, the maintenance staff would complain about being asked to do things like deal with mice in the laundry room, and the driveway started falling apart. (Literally crumbling into pebbles.) The roof above my kitchen sprung a leak and caused the drywall to bubble up with water. They fixed the leak but all they did in my kitchen was poke a hole in the ceiling with a bucket underneath to let the water out. This was years ago and there is still a giant bubble in my ceiling with a hole in it.Additionally, I have a neighbor (who worked for the apartment complex, painting vacant units) who thinks it is okay to cuss me out for doing things like opening the sliding door to my balcony and if he hears me move around my apartment too much he will bang on the walls, my door, or hold down the buzzer to my apartment. When I made management aware of the way their employee was behaving they told me that he was a contracted service provider, and therefore, not their employee. They also told me that it is not their policy to get involved in such matters among tenants. They then suggested that I call the cops if I felt threatened. What a joke. Im sure the police have more important things to do than scold a 50 year old for acting like a child...Now, there are new owners and a whole new management team. I would love to give the new management the benefit of the doubt however, I was told by the new manager three weeks ago that they had just got in the asphalt fill that day and they were waiting for a sunny day to start filling some of the many potholes in the driveway. We finally had three days of sunshine in a row and they still didnt start filling them. I asked management about it a second time, I was again told that they had just gotten the asphalt fill that day...right. I decided to let that lie go, when I was told that they would put in the work order immediately and I could expect to see some of the potholes filled the following day. It was another four days of sunshine before I saw any action. They came out and filled about a dozen of the shallower holes but they left almost all of the really bad ones. That was a week ago now.Who knows if/when they are actually planning on coming out to do more. The last time I spoke to the office I was irate about the lack of action I had seen thus far and I was ruder than I really wanted to be. So, instead of letting myself get worked up trying to get a straight answer from them, I have decided to just try to inform future tenants of what they can look forward to if they decide to move in here.In addition to all of this, the new owners have informed the tenants that we are now required to purchase $50,000 of liability insurance. (Im pretty sure that its so that if someone breaks their neck on the awful driveway, the tenants insurance can help pay some of the damages.) They want this to be in addition to our renters insurance. They also informed us that they will no longer honor the 5 day grace period for rent. They illegally tried to make us make these changes immediately, even though none of it is stated in our current lease agreement. It is awful that they would do this to their tenants. The only ones that will benefit from such a policy are the insurance companies and the new owners, who get to save a buck on their own premiums! When I first moved here I was paying $557/ month it has been just over six years and my rent is now up to $640. That is almost a 15% increase! I cannot wait to get out of here. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone!
Love the area, I like the staff. Everything is accessible easily.
I moved from WMU area apartments to a townhome here and just wow. I feel a huge difference in a good way. There are a lot of retired people, the area is almost always dead silent. Awesome. I got a pup recently and she barked when I left for work, I got a note from the office about it. I quickly found a way to prevent it. On the receiving end I can tell you they dont ignore noise complaints. (heh heh heh... sorry)I see a few patches here and there fixing damages from previous renters. Thats fine by me. The company was recently bought by a new one so theyre working on it. They genuinely try. The previous management didnt take very good care of the place so itll take time to get this place the way it should be and they cant very well kick everyone out for a few months for massive renovation. There are probably a ton of maintenance requests as a result.Maintenance sometimes misses my issue but Im a patient person, they do get to it eventually. (If its not done within 2 days, go to the office on the third and they send someone the next day) Thats far better than many others in the Kalamazoo area. (I think theyre stretched thin between their other locations in the area, thats a heck of a lot of people to cover)The staff are professional and friendly. The office ladies get to know you. Shout out to maintenance, polite as heck. The location cant be beat. High School and Middle School next door. Entertainment and shopping on the other end. The post office is hugging it. Jobs everywhere around it. No need to get that teenager a car.If youre thinking about moving in, just go to the apartments across the road. See the short building behind the apartments? It has a pool, gas fire-pit, and community gas grill and it looks fabulous. They also added 2 dog parks. One is on each side of the road so you dont need to cross with your doggo.
My husband and I moved in to a town home this past December. I really wish I could give The View a good review, but I can not do so in good conscience. We have had a plethora of issues in our short time here, mostly stemming from inconsistencies in what we were told upon signing our lease. Examples include everything from our unit being equipped with a microwave (not true), to where we could park, to utilities being included in rent (also not true). Some of these things were resolved after several meetings, but it was time and money we had not anticipated spending. The staff here are all very friendly, but lack training and a good understanding of how things actually work. We were told back in December that rent had recently been upped to compensate for a gym that was being installed and should be finished by February... we are now approaching mid March and there is not a single piece of equipment. There are no security systems in place here, and the grounds are never patrolled or monitored. Residents dump matressss, couches, old tvs, and other pieces of large furniture by the dumpsters and they sit there for months. The dog park is constantly full of feceses. The yards have drainage issues and are CONSTANTLY wet and soggy. The parking is a nightmare, and my husbands truck was recently hit. The offices solution was to file an incedent report and they told us they would be putting notices out to the neighbors.... which has yet to happen. They strongly push to have issues between residents handheld interpersonally, and refuse to do anything regarding noise complaints or any complaints period for that matter. We have had numerous maintanence issues since moving in (furnace issues, sink drainage issues, a leak in our basement, doors falling off hinges). The maintanace staff is wonderful, but overstretched and understaffed. We planned stay here for a year while searching for a home, but had to expedite that process because living here has been such a struggle. My last word of advice is to be aware of their Stars and Stripes Program if you are active duty, reservist, or a veteran. The program is not at all as it is advertised.
My family & I transferred from the View apartments to the townhomes at the end of April. When we moved in we found several damages, from the previous owners, that looked like something maintenance had only patched up. Not going to go in depth about everything that is wrong with my townhome, however, I would like to address my biggest issue in my home. My entire matster bathroom. When we first moved in, you could step right in front of the bath tub and the floor would sink in due to old water damage. (Scary) It was then that I noticed that the wall tile, next to the tub, was no longer even attached to the wall anymore. In addition to the water damage, my tub was stained & all stratched up leaving the paint peeled off. We informed management right away. Three weeks later maintenance finally came to fix my bathroom. They took off all the floor tile, unattached wall tile, toilet, and a piece of old wood that was in front of the tub. They patched up the floor with a wooden board (thats not even parallel to the floor) and threw new tile on it. Didnt put my toilet back up until 2 days later but they forgot to lay the ring down first. So now my toilet wobbles. Informed management. Nothing has been done about it yet. There is also now a huge hole in my bathroom from the old wall tile they removed and never fixed. The hole exposes the damaged and rusted wood, making it a home for spiders, while also allowing more water to get in. Nothing has been done about the scratched up, peeling walls. It is now mid August and damages that should have been fixed before we moved (Aprl 29) still arent fixed.
This place is terrible don’t ever move here bad kitchens and too expensive and it smells and the apartments themselves are awfull and unpainted and cold
