This is a great facility, decently sized, friendly staff, good machines. My favorite part is that between scanning your own card and a large part of the patrons being older, nobody talks to you. Just blissful, I can go in and out without a word to anybody. Such a blessing, 10/10 do recommend.

Good facility, much higher demand and quality after the swimming pool expansion. They do well with basketball and serving members. Pretty great place to do whatever indoor-sports.

Great facilities! Very pristine and clean with great soccer fields, turf fields, skateboard Park area etc. Covered seating for spectators and for the team benches on the turf fields

Lovely rec center.Has ample ground, racquet ball, squash and basketball courts. Good fitness center.

Entire weight room filled with children on daily basis. No supervision. Multiple times Gym is packed with individuals crowding or just standing around equipment. Absolutely no gym etiquette. People leave equipment sweaty and not wiped. Individuals will come in to the gym smelling as if they already worked out and leave equipment disgusting. Way overcrowded.

The basketball courts in this facility is filled with middle school/high school bullies who push younger kids off the court so they can record their Instagram or YouTube videos. The lazy and incompetent staff here does nothing about it. Or maybe theyre afraid of them. Either way, well be canceling our membership to this gym from the ghetto part of Plano.Also, probably not a good idea to bring anything of value to this gym unless its completely secured and attached to you (i.e. not in your car or loose pockets).

It’s great until the rec guy comes and try’s to fight the young skater kids. I have videos of him saying he will leave them “laying” behind the bathrooms. Dude weird and I emailed the rec center and they won’t take care of him so I decided to make this public

This recreation center is clean and front staff is very friendly and helpful. Inside the pool area was also clean. My problem was there were a lot of unsupervised young teens that the lifeguards tend to overlook the horse playing that could cause someone to have a serious accident. One time kicking my grandchild in the head while they were climbing on top of each other in the wave pool.

I was very happy to be back since not being able to work out from mid-march. I was concerned that it would be over crowded and what safety precautions would be in place. Everything they did was great! I must also add that there was only five people in the machine room with me. Thank you Plano Gov and Parks and Rec for getting it right!

This park is gem of Plano. It has tons of sport fields and indoor sports. Very large, must visit beautiful park and rec center. Great for walks and runs to. Great new skate board park. Thanks Plano!

Pretty great place for activities. The pool tables are always accessible and the new basketball system is great. I honestly think that the “games” room could be kept better, because some people just play at the table tennis 🏓 court without a card and just bring their own paddle and ball. So, this place is pretty much fine.

Regular here. Well kept facility with full basket ball courts, walk/run track upstairs, recreation room, squash/raquetball courts, swimming pool, and well appointed work our room (free weights and machines). All for a ridiculously inexpensive annual price. However, it can be crowded at popular times, especially Monday and Wednesday after work. Ive had some issues with people not following basic rules (putting weights back, sitting on machines during break, and people not controlling younger children) - not a deal breaker but something you have to tolerate.

Lots and lots of things to do, from a jogging circuit, to ping pong and pool tables; basketball courts; a huge inside pool with a lazy river and slides and lifeguards on the watch; and classes to inspire and spark your creativity. You can even get daily guest passes if you just want to try out the facility. Love it.

Carpenter is a great place to go for the whole family. Swimming, exercise, walking track, table games - its all there for everyone to enjoy!

This place is amazing. There are so many things to do, and for the price it is unbeatable. All facilities are kept clean and working at all times.

You and your friends can go to the mall, restaurant or anywhere together and no one ask you to separate, but when you go to Carpenter Recreation Center with a friend to walk the staff ask you to social distance. Can someone please explain why you can go out to eat and do other activity with a friend and it’s fine except when you go the carpenter gym?

Comfortable atmosphere, nice facilities for kids and adults too. Several basketball courts and classes for different ages, well maintained swimming pool, gymnastics, Martial arts, walk and jogging tracks ( on the 2nd floor) and many more attractions make people fulfill their most of the recreation need. Stuffs are well behaved and helpful.

Enjoyed playing table tennis, loved the facilities and the courteous service.

Clean and warm facility for swim lessons. Instructors are great too! They give attention to each and every kid in the group and are fair when students are tested! Highly recommend!

Came here for a birthday party, on the second floor. Seems like an older, dated building. Pretty cool rec center. Enjoyed the indoor track and lots of signage. I peeked into the gym from the outside and it appeared pretty big and spacious. I hope to visit again, hopefully as a member :)

It was well prepared with cleanness, sanitasing, social distancing and well organized.

Nice gym, ping pong, indoor walking track. really, also play Pickleball here but the folks are a little too serious.

Many times when I come to use the basketball courts they are completely filled with random activities that are sometimes new on that day. They don’t have this anywhere on their website or the internet which wastes my time driving here to play basketball and end up not doing anything until I have to go. 75% of the time one court is taken up putting hundreds of kids playing basketball on one court which doesn’t even give people their own personal space. Then when both courts are taken for multiple hours at a time you basically come to the rec center to do absolutely nothing. The people who use the courts also expect us to know that there is an activity going on but there is no way to find this online or anywhere.

This review is for the PSA facility located at the park. The gym features lots of basketball and volleyball courts in a nice, indoor and air-conditioned building. The concessions are usually open during the weekends and the facility itself is well maintained. If you are looking for a place to sign your kids up for sports, this is a good option.

So far I love this place. The staff has been kind and helpful. Ive worked at country clubs, parks and recreation centers for over 20 years. Im a new member here and my perception is that this is reasonably well run. I will update this review if anything changes.

I do swimming classes there there coaches are nice and fun.I learned a lot there.

I find this place to be a good to work out I think the swimming pool is a good bonus to have this year and the track upstairs is where I spend most of my time Sullys Queen well-maintained considering its age as they have done some remodeling

They have lots to do from air hockey, to ping pong, basketball, racquet ball, and swimming to working out. Even a jogging track, I love it.

The new indoor pool is great! The big slide starts indoors, wraps around the outside corner of the building and ends back inside! There is also a smaller slide for the littles. The mini lazy river has a strong current and so much fun for the kids.

Great place to spend quality time with the family for just some bucks. Place is nice and clean, and there is something to do for each member of the family.

The city needs to do a better job at posting what fields and first come first serve and for public use. In addition, the public use fields are in horrible condition with potholes, very easy to get twist your ankle while playing soccer or football. The goals are also in terrible condition. An overall lack of care to these public use fields makes this park hard to recommend.

These parks are very well kept. The base is very firm and has minimal imperfections which makes it safe for kids playing. The area is clean and parking is decent.

The facility itself is very nice and is always staffed with friendly people. It always seems to be clean and the equipment is pretty much what you would find at Lifetime or Youfit. That being said, it can be a complete waste of time to come here because there is usually a crowd and you will have to wait for a cardio machine to open. This isnt so much the fault of the facility but it is something to consider before you pay for a membership. I have been at noon, 3pm and because I apparently hate myself, after 6pm and it is ALWAYS crowded.

Enjoyed the swim. Tuesdays is open swim from 9 am to 7 pm... Lots of us older ducks just floating around... 😂

Affordable and has all the amenities I seek for in a recreation center.

Soccer fields are in great shape and well lit. Bathrooms are clean and there is bleacher seating at every field. We love playing here!

Its a cool place. The employees are very friendly and helpful and you can find pretty much any activity. They also constantly add new stuff to do!

Ive been coming here since I was a kid (over ten years now). The staff are friendly and on top of things. The gym has updated equipment, and the two basketball courts are a great place to shoot around or play a pickup game.

Always have a good experience at Plano city recs. The weight room left a bit to be desired but its still a great value and it isnt too busy

Went there to get my season pass for Jack Carter swimming pool.If one goes to the pool slot its so much cheaper with the pass.Tbis place is part of rec center and its a nice one,they have all kinds of things to do there.Good for adult and kids

Great facilities, friendly staff. This place can get a bit crowded during busy times, but its pretty inexpensive to get a yearly membership, which gives access to all the Plano Rec centers and pools, so definitely worth it if you use it. And I usually go when its not too crowded.

I have been using the exercise bikes and weight equipment almost every day for 3 months. The equipment is kept very clean, the TVs have a good variety of programming and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The guests also seem to be very respectful of each other. Glad my local taxes are well spent for a change!!

Great atmosphere. I personally love the warmer water and the walk in the river.

I came here the other to watch a soccer game. The soccer fields are in terrible conditions to play on. The facility looked nice from the outside but the fields were horrible.

Nice place to have birthday parties for young children. Play ground, restrooms and 2 large pavilions. Clean, with plenty of parking.

A CLOSE TO HOME HANGOUT, THEY ARE REDOING HALF OF THE PARK ALL SOCCER FIELDS WITH ASTROTURF....

After finding that money was taken from my wallet, I asked them to help me by checking the cameras (maybe the theif was still in the building). They basically told me, not our problem, call the police if you want to see our cameras.So unhelpful service, teenagers trying to start fights, no regard to safety by allowing unaccompanied minors to run around the courts while adults and teens played games, and no attempt to abide by a fire code by filling gyms with peolle makes this spot a very undesirable destination.

I love the place because it has a lot of things in it and I saw a lot of my friends at school. But..they close at 6 on the weekends and 10 on the weekdays. I believe it should be the other way around or everyday close around 10

Love this place. Wide variety of things to do. Weight room, track, basketball, ping pong, pool, morning dancing exercises for women, and pool.

The facility has received upgrades in recent years (including a new room with treadmills and other exercise machines. Generally its crowded most hours. If you like soccer, youll fit right in on the adjoining soccer fields that are frequently packed for practices and matches. Traffic into and out of the facility is a bit dangerous, particularly if hanging a left from or onto Coit Road. Avoid the facility (except when youre voting) during early voting and on Election Day because it is a busy polling place.

Very good, all around community rec center. Need City of Plano membership (but doesnt cost that much). Indoor walking track, bb courts, pickle ball, hand/racquet ball courts, exercise equipment room and indoor pool with neat slide.

In response to the gentleman who is concerned that the Carpenter Center is geared more toward seniors, please be advised there are a lot of us trying to improve our health thanks to doctors orders and because we want to feel better.. Perhaps a private health club would be a better choice for some folks.

I love this place. The equipment collection is good and there is enough for everyone. I have rarely had a situation where I could not find an equipment empty for what I wanted to do.I am still unclear on how to get on the badminton roster...

Recreation center has large pool for families which include slides. Ok workout place with fee weights, treadmill, and natilus machines.Ping pong tables, foosball, billiard tables on the first floor. Upstairs, walking and running lanes. Also, I believe theres a kitchen, additional workout rooms uses for classes.Finally, first floor has two large basketball halls with multiple hoops.

Employees are friendly a d helpful. In the am lots of seniors who, although working out are, simultaneously enjoying lots of social interaction and camping out on the equipment which is limited to begin with.

Economical rec with all facilities like walking/jogging track, exercise machines, Weight room, basket ball courts, racket ball, squash, ping pong, pool table, ice hockey table, badminton reserved hours. Plus swimming pool will be operational from 2018 summer.

The City of Plano has some of the best Recreation Centers around. Carpenter Park is but one of them. They not only have the exercise room, basket ball courts, racket ball courts, badminton, waffle ball, running track, ping pong, pool table, locker rooms with showers, they also very nice staff that can check you in quickly or take the time to assure you get what you need.The center also has a variety of classes you can sign up to take including exercise classes like Zumba, Jazzercise, and Line Dance but also things like violin lessons for kid.If you havent been there, check them out. It is both economical and provides a variety of healthy activities. Also membership allows access to other centers in Plano some of which have other activities such as swimming.
