Plainfield Animal hospital is the best!! Our Vet was awesome!!! She was not afraid of Claudius, even though he had to be Sedated. Dr.McNeal was amazing, smart realistic and thorough...all at 2 am! The front desk staff, was so kind and welcoming! We hate going to the vet in the middle of the night because its usually an emergency but you guys made it the best experience it could be.
My little baby Uzi was unfortunately experiencing a urinary blockage and he had all the symptoms. My boyfriend and I rushed over to the ACC of Plainfield and as soon as we walked in, we were walked up to asking what was going on. We let Theresa (You’re awesome!) know what was going on and she immediately got Uzi rushed to the back. We found out he needed surgery and would need to stay a day or two after surgery. The prices were reasonable, and the doctors and clinical staff were phenomenal with informing us with what was going on, pricing and payment options (they have care credit, which was super helpful and we applied and were approved instantly!) and just overall caring for our baby. Uzi was able to come home after 2 days and has been healing so quickly and acting like himself already! During his stay we got calls frequently with updates on Uzi and prices and the doctors were so awesome with helping us with our financial cap on what we didn’t want to go over. You guys are awesome, thank you for taking urgency and thought into every second you spent with Uzi. We are so appreciative!!
My dog suffered a neurological injury and despite being told over the phone that they would take her to a room right away, when we got there we were told to wait in the car with her for 6-8 hours. They used to be our regular vet but no longer take appointments. They claim all of their shortcomings are due to Covid and yet other vets in the area were way more helpful.Response to the owner: the time to have helped me was 4 days ago when I called and then brought my injured dog into your facility. At this point another vet has since taken very good care of her.
Historically, all of our experiences have been good with this veterinarian. The last couple of times we visited them to help care for our animal the wait times have been ridiculous. They stopped taking appointments and offer walk in service only. This is fine if you have the staff to move people through the facility in a timely fashion. The most recent visit I was greeted by a friendly employee and told it would be approximately 2 hours to be seen. After two hours they brought me into a patient room, where I proceeded to wait over two more hours to be seen. I understand that sometimes things take longer than you anticipate, but communication with the paying customer would go a long way to ensure that they are happy and if times need to increase, just let me know and I will determine if I have the ability to wait hours longer to be be seen for a potentially minor issue. After this most recent trip I would have a hard time encouraging anyone to come here with your animal, unless it is an emergency.Update.....over 5 hours now to be seen. Please....for the love of God....start allowing appointments so we can be seen in a timely fashion.....or hire another vet to handle the traffic. This is ridiculous....at least offer some type of communication so that I know your doctors didnt all go home for day. Im am not even sure they remember my room exists at this point.
Although their wait time is usually long, what I was told would be an hour wait was actually only 30 minutes. My dogs anxiety has become worse which has been difficult for any vet to accept him. Dr. Harris showed immense patience and mindfulness with my pet. She made sure him and I were comfortable with her suggestions.
This emergency staff that cared for my dog at 9pm on a Saturday night, I am thankful for! They were calm and responsive. I was panicking and scared, they assured me she was ok and gave me an update that she was stable and calm waiting to be treated. She was attacked by another dog and I was grateful I had a place to go.
Horrible money hungry uncaring vet! Please consider going anywhere but here. They only care about making money and making people wait in heat for 3+ hours with sick pets! I came in on Sunday with my sick kitten. They didnt ask what type of pet I had or what the issues were they just made a point of telling me that it was $139 just to walk in and everything was double on Sunday because it was emergency services only. Also said wait time was in excess of 3 hours and I had to wait outside in car with sick pet. When its over 85° and your car idles for that long it gets hot. I asked if its OK if my Pat stayed inside the comfortable building and I would wait in my car and they refused. I asked if I can go home and come back in three hours instead of waiting and they told me no I would lose my place in line. Horrible for a place that should care for pets. Needless to say I went elsewhere and I will never ever go there or recommend their uncaring business. Pathetic is all I can say
Staff very kind, efficient and helpful. Dr. Erjavec impressed me very much. He was tender, took his time, explained everything to me and gave me options and advice.
If I could give this place less than 1 star I would. Went here last night to their ER because we think our dog broke his leg and called ahead to confirm they were available and open which they said they were. Got there at 1030 pm and was told to wait in our car for 30 min. Once we got into a room they took the xrays pretty fast. However, we waited and waited and finally it was 1 am with no response on the xrays. Finally, we went up to the front desk where a nurse had told us that it would be another 2 hour wait because another dog was being treated with a more pressing emergency (delivery of puppies). We asked to speak to a manager as we already had the x rays done, our dog was in pain and no medicine was offered. The manager was EXTREMELY hostile and told us then that it would be 4-6 hours instead of another 2 meaning it could potentially take until almost 8 in the morning to wait in a tiny room with not enough seats for my family and I who were already sitting on the floor and the cold AC blasting. They refused to give our dog any care or help in his time of need and told us we gave the dog a blanket as that was some type of comfort for a broken leg. Would not call in another doctor to help with the other patients. Told us to leave if we didnt like it and offered no guidance on how to care for our dog once we did leave. Refused to release our x ray records to us so that we could take them to another vet in the morning to speed up the process of helping our dog. There would have been ZERO communication if we didnt ask what was going on 2 hours later at 1 in the morning and they could care less that they were asking us to wait another 6 hours. Extremely unprofessional place and a waste of time if you have an emergency visit. We now still have no answers on if our dog has a broken foot and are looking for someone to help us this morning.
Amazing staff. We brought our dog in for stitches when our primary vet was closed. They were open and able to see our dog right away. Prices were very reasonable for an emergency vet and well definitely go back if we need.
I am so thankful to have found a veterinarian that has the patience and attentiveness to my dog. My dog has had anxiety issues and she has always been amazing when coming here. Even during covid, animal care center was very attentive to her special needs. Thank you for all your hard work and I am thankful to have found a vet that works for my pup.
I agree with ALL the negative reviews! This place is all about the money and not about the care and compassion of our beloved pets! The wait times are more than ridiculous! Trust me you can go to ANY OTHER veterinarian in the area and you will have the care and respect in a TIMELY MANNER! The excuses from the owner are repeated over and over like a broken record. Please for the sake of your pet GO ELSEWHERE!!! From A caring pet owner
This office has quite literally saved my kitty on several occasions! Most recently, i had to bring my cat in for some emergency urinary care that resulted in him being held for the entire holiday weekend. During this time, the staff was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE, reassuring me that he was okay, and calling with frequent updates (shout out to Dr. Ashley S!). Jack is a bit feisty, and the staff just take it all in stride, and are truly so wonderful. Even now that he has been discharged, theyve been so patient with answering all of my 1000 questions. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR WHAT YOU DO!! Highly highly recommend this office!
I am forever thankful for the care and empathy that the staff here showed my fiancé and I. The past couple weeks have been some of the toughest as our cat, Larz had gotten sick and had to be put down. Dr Spinelli had seen Larz the first time we had taken him in. She was very caring and took her time explaining everything to us. A week later when having to bring Larz back in, the doctor we had seen in the morning (I’m sorry I forget his name), was also very calm and empathetic with us. Later in the day when bringing Larz back, Elizabeth at the front counter was very very empathetic throughout the entire process as she got a room ready and showed us urns. That day was one of the most difficult days we’ve experienced, and our heart still aches, but the professionalism and empathy that the staff showed us had made it all just a little bit easier.
I highly recommend this clinic! Open on Sundays. Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Reasonable prices as well!
I appreciated that when I brought my pet in for emergency treatment he was seen right away and I was given information about what was going wrong medically. However, rather than giving any coaching to me on how I could try to bring my pet back to health after he was refusing to take the provided medications, I was advised that euthanasia would be the most humane option if I could not afford the $5000 procedure that would put a hole in his neck or feeding tubes through his nose. With research in the internet and determination to save my loved family member despite my lack of finances and my disbelief that surgery or euthanasia were the only options I was able to find a solution on my own. Hand making and shredding chicken, and going through an array of different food options on the market I was able to find a sustainable and healthy alternative to losing my beloved family member or putting him through unnecessary excruciating pain and suffering. The fact that this was not suggested to me by the veterinarian or any of the staff at the hospital is not only disappointing but extremely disgusting. How many animals have been lost because families didnt know they had other options and blindly took the advice of the professionals who they sought to save.
They are amazing because I know that my animal can be seen at any time should anything happen. HOWEVER, the wait was awful.. I understand these things happen but we need some sort of communication throughout the wait, it’s frustrating feeling forgotten about in this type of situation. Also, no diet recommendations for kidney issues?? I had to ask about diet changes and her advice was very.. generic, to say the least. Google was way more helpful in that area. I know when my pupper is there she is in good hands but they need some things tweaked.
I took my dog in there because he had a bad heart I sat in a waiting room for 6 hours after being told I was next to be seen. I saw the vet for 2 minutes she threw information that my dog has an enlarged heart and thats why hes coughing its pushing on his trachea. She says were going to medicate it and she can get his cough under control. Before I could really ask any questions shes pulled away and didnt come back. I asked if I could ask some questions but I was told I would have to wait another couple of hours before being able to talk to her again. At this point its 11:00 at night. Been there for 6 hours. Dog is very stressed out. So they told me they would call me the next morning. I was a week ago and didnt call me. Dog is still coughing. Hes still full of life but I hate to see him like this. Im actually at all my credit cards to get ignored by the vet and not get any help. I highly recommend going to a different office. So this isnt the first time something like this has happened at this location.
This office is amazing! I brought my cat in late one night for respiratory distress and they were able to bring him in right away to start treatment and followed up with us later in the evening. They really did save his life! He stayed for several days and every times doctors changed shifts, they were sure to call and update me. I was also able to call any time to speak with a vet technician. The price was also very fair... any pet owner knows that trips to the vet can be expensive, especially during an emergency! However I was pleasantly surprised and didn’t spend nearly as much as I thought I would. Thank you for saving my sweet Felix! You all are seriously amazing!
We would like to say, thank you, to their whole staff that helped us.They were so good to our dog. Very Professional, kind and caring.
Horrible horrible horrible. We called on three different occasions to get our dogs seen for severe medical issues. Due to Covid ( which an excuse that is growing quite old ) it would be weeks before they could be seen. We were told we could come and just sit to wait to be worked in. ( what about the risk of Covid makes sense with this ). We purchased a wellness plan to help offset costs, but can’t use them because we can’t get in when our dogs are sick. And there is no refund ( ask Julie about that and she will imply you aren’t smart enough to understand the contract you signed ). Also they took the money and then wanted to charge to cancel the contract. What!!!! All the while my dog is getting sicker. If you run an animal clinic and you accept walk-ins and ER then you should have an assigned doctor for those cases. They have plenty of office/grooming help because we witnessed them all standing around taking about face make up while we were waiting over an hour in the room with our dog. No water was offered to our dog during our wait nor did anyone come to check to see if we needed anything. As an office manager, if I ran my office this way I’d be losing patience left and right! Again, take our money and and offer services whenever you get around to it…horrible way to run a business. I hope the owners know how their staff is running their business. It’s a horrible way to offer care to our pets.
Our cat was having respitory distress on Sunday, on a holiday weekend. When we arrived, we could see they were backed up with people waiting with their pets. ( ER)Their response saved her life; by quickly recognizing she was critical. The staff took immediate action to stabilize her with oxygen until the Dr/vet was able to diagnose her. I felt the care was over the top and their prices were surprisingly reasonable as well; Especially for a holiday weekend.Knowing they are open 24/7 gives me peace of mind too. This is our 3rd visit, and we’ll worth the drive.
Employees are nice but this place has extremely poor scheduling and huge communication issues. Not to mention we were required to bring our dog back for check ups post surgery. We were told there would be no charge as they were follow ups. We were charged for each visit plus x-rays. Find somewhere more trustworthy for your pet.
Took my dog here about 2 weeks ago and arrived before they opened for walk ins (because previously they had a 5 hour wait time) and was one of the first people to check in. Despite this it was a solid hour before getting into the exam room, and 90 minutes for the vet to finally come in.This would have been fine had we recieved adequate care. Instead the vet was rushed and took all of 20 seconds to diagnose my dog with allergies with no consideration or conversation around other possible issues. I asked them to cut her nails after and she came back with 3 nails bleeding which they didnt notice at all.I called back today to try to get a follow up but they said the vet didnt recommend one, so it would be multiple weeks before we could get in again. How short sighted does the vet have to be to put a dog on a trial of a medication and not recommend a follow up?Absolutely ridiculous. Call anywhere else before here.
After 2 and a half hours in the lobby and another 40min in the exam room, nobody came to assess my dog and I just walked out of the clinic, zero attention received. They took another 40min to realize I was gone and called me.If you need a cold place to sit and wait for a long time during this hot weather, this is the place to be.
I have had nothing but wonderful experiences at this facility. Tim who is at the front desk was kind and professional. Dr. McNeal is the best. She listens, takes as much time as you need and even came out and greeted me. She made sure I didnt have any further questions. Yes there was a little wait, but that also comes with any ER hospital-the most critical patients go before the stable ones!!! They are the best and I can not say enough good things about them!
2 weeks ago, our beloved family dog of 16 years, Duke, became very ill. We took him to his regular vet (not to name names but Shorewood Animal Hospital), and for a week straight we were given an increasingly stronger and stronger impression that we were a major inconvenience to them for trying to get any sort of help for our dog. We were then instructed by the vet to take him to Mokena Emergency Clinic, which we did, and that place was also a complete joke in and of itself. Finally, we ended up taking our dog to Animal Care Center Emergency in Plainfield. Unfortunately, we had to put our sweet dog down, which was obviously completely and utterly devastating. Throughout the duration of our visit, the care and bedside manner of the staff here was absolutely remarkable. Empathetic, respectful, genuine... these are just a few adjectives to describe Dr. Michael Taylor and his sweet assistant (who I regrettably do not know her name!).I will never be able to thank everyone here on behalf of my family and I for the quality of care and emotional support you provided in such a difficult time for us all.I highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone.
My pup has been going to Animal Care of Plainfield his whole life and we pay for a monthly pet care plan. We typically only go for routines visits and meditation pick ups. For the past two weeks I’ve called numerous times throughout the week and I’m told the wait time is 4+ hours. Today is the first time they mentioned I can schedule an appointment, but that’s two weeks out.To say I’m disappointed doesn’t begin to cover it! Really didn’t want to look for a new vet, but my money and time isn’t as valuable to Animal Care of Plainfield as it is to me and my puppers.
My 7 mo. Old puppy had an emergency on a Sunday. They were the only ones open. I was very impressed with the quality of care done by Dr. Tracy and her staff. Everyone was caring, gentle and had my puppy fixed up quickly and at a very reasonable price. Thanks again for everything you did! I will definitely be coming back. AMAZING VETERINARIAN!
I checked in @7pm they told me it was a 4-5hr wait and it was okay for me to leave and call to see where I was in line as long as I was back before I was next. I called @8 they told me “4 hours wait 8 patients ahead”45min later I get a call if i was the parking lot. She didn’t say anything about being next until I asked then she said yes. Then I told herI live 10 mins away if she take care of the next person in line she said “we already are and you’ll be pushed to the back of the line and it’s a 9hr wait”.Not to mention this is where I’ve always brought my pup and he needed to be seenThe last visit prior was not pleasant either this makes 2Unreal.By the clear looks of it your ratings have gone down hill from 4.8 to 4.0 🤷🏽♂️
Im an OTR truck driver and had a sick dog with me I went to another clinic closer to my customer and they turned me away I then called 2 other places, same thing, so I called here and they said bringher right in so I drove 30 minutes in my bobtailed truck to get her checked out. thank you so much.
Doctor Rebecca Harris took care of my dog Penelope(shih tzu) after major emergency surgery. Penelope stayed at the Animal Care Center Plainfield for almost a week. Doctor Harris was empathetic and knowledgeable. Specifically, she took time with me by phone and face to face to answer questions and be thorough. These vets are busy and the ones that take the additional time with you like Doctor Harris did for me are the ones that likely are leaving later in the day but are passionate/have character and are focused on their career/providing good care.
My diabetic dog was in bad condition Wednesday morning and my vet is not open on Wednesdays so I had to rush him to Plainfield Animal Care Center. He was in bad shape. It was an emergency so I did not call them. When I got there there were several people there already. I had my dog in my arms because he was so limp. They did notice me and after a few minutes ask if I had an emergency and when I said yes one of the employees at the front desk came over and took him from me and had me quickly sign a form approving them to work on him and she took him back. After 3 hours of waiting I finally went and found someone to please let me know how he is doing. The employee I found in the hallway came back and told me he was okay and stable. I was relieved. I did not complain about the wait as I know it was an unplanned emergency, however, by this time their waiting room out front and all the rooms in the back were full. The employee told me that they had a couple more emergencies so that is why we are waiting so long. It was about another hour before the doctor came in to talk to me, so this was now 4 hours after I brought my very sick dog in. She had all the blood work reports and told me how critical he was, which I couldnt understand because the other employee told me he was stable. Well now I know that was a lie to just get us to sit and wait even longer. I dont know if that is what they train their employees to say regardless of how sick and critical ones pet is or what. I told the doctor I wanted to do whatever it took to save his life. She left for quite awhile and came back with the cost estimate, which I approved right away. I didnt care how much it was going to cost to save my family member of 12 years! She said she should know more in 12-24 hours so we left. They let us see him before we left. I got a call just a few hours later from a different doctor and she told me he passed. She wasnt very compassionate at all and just wanted to know what I wanted to do with the body! This was over the phone now. I was crying where I couldnt even speak and she just wanted to know when I get there. I was trying to talk to her about my options, I was still in shock. She said they could talk to me about it when I got there. So my husband and I went there, devastated and crying that I just lost my family pet of 12 years in a cold, heartless, unfamiliar place and the girl behind the desk brought us in a room and again, just wanted to know what we want to do with body and then pay them. Not a sorry or anything!!! How uncompassionate and cold!!!! That was it, I signed some papers, paid and left. Not an ounce of compassion!! I will never forget that my beloved family member had to pass away at such a place!!! I will NEVER go there again. I will go anywhere else but there!
Waited almost 3 hours from a 1-1.5hr wait to be passed to an exam room. Then when there, I just upped and left after almost another hour waiting to see the doctor. They didnt even notice I left until 45 minutes after I was gone. With those wait times, I just decided to study to be a veterinarian myself to get treatment for my dog a lot quicker.
I took my French bulldog in to be checked for a pain in her leg. We explained everything to the doctor and added in the fact that she becomes VERY brave when she’s at the vet and usually doesn’t show signs of pain. He completely bypassed everything we said, checked her for about 5 minutes, then proceeded to tell us that she was completely fine and she might just have pulled a muscle. Not once did the doctor offer a second opinion, an X-ray, or any additional service for her pain. We took our dog home and she did not get any better, she was still in pain and was throwing up due to the pain and seemed to be becoming worse. We decided to take our dog to a different doctor only to find out that she had a herniated disc in her shoulder. This clinic paid NO attention to my dog and it seemed as though they were trying to rush through to see the next patient. I did call and I got a refund of $69 out of the $150 I paid. It wasn’t about the money, the manager tried to say it was my lack of communication and that sometimes it takes 3-4 visits to diagnose a dog. WHAT A JOKE. Do not recommend taking your pets here.
5/17 Called in advance to get a quote for fees / services for dog grooming and set up an account for new puppies. Repeatedly asked for details and assurance of expenses, vaccination needs, contact numbers etc. BILL CHARGED 3 X the amount quoted. Service slow, communication from staff to groomers non-existent and phone follow up terrible.
My name is Kenn Felde and I am resident of Joliet, IL . I have given this place more than enough chances to improve and impress me, but yet they have failed tremendously. On one occasion they forgot about my dog “Nala” in a room by herself so long that she was able to chew through her body harness. Another occasion they said that they were going to call my cell phone number and not my wife’s cell phone number to inform us that it was our time to come in and drop off our dogs, but they can not even accomplish a simple task of calling the correct cell phone number. The manager only comes up with excuses and no resolutions, it is a horrible place to take your pets to unless you don’t mind poor customer service and incompetent staff.
Had a very heartbreaking day and this place made it worse...had to put down our beloved pup and since our usual vet in Shorewood was unable to take us in right away, we had to go to Plainfield. Since their policy only allowed one owner in the room, my husband was unable to be with us for the procedure. Paperwork was completed quickly and I requested that the vet come right away to alleviate the agony of waiting, they said they would. My pup and I were in that room alone for nearly an hour before I finally looked out in the hall and asked how much longer...the staff asked oh, what are you waiting for?...I told her I was waiting to put my dog down...she was obviously surprised and said shed get the vet right away. We were obviously forgotten...after reading the other reviews, I sure hope there is no problem getting our paw print!away
We’ve been to this vet plenty of times unfortunately. Obviously emergency trips to the vet are never good. Anyhow. We had to bring out dog in for an overnight visit as his condition got worse. Checked him in for a hospital visit. Ended up having a seizure and we had to make the decision to put him down.We had all the services set up by Tim. Paw print (asked spelling of his name), two pieces of jewelry with his ashes in it and the cherry box.We go to pick up our puppy on Friday - great, small package though so we call Metro and ask if them where the paw print was or if they had left it out or something. No. No paw print ordered. But we were charged for it at least....Call the vet that night - had to wait for the emergency crew to get there because the day crew has no access to anything. I call later. Find out that they charged us for the paw print - but Tim did not put it on the order to Metro. Only turns into a bad deal because my son wanted the plate from Jack (his first dog) and my fiancé (also her first dog - since Jack was a couple months old) wanted the paw print to get a memorial tattoo. Needless to say - pretty significant mistake that can never be undone. I can’t even say it was missed because they were busy. For the entire hour or so we were there - not a soul came to the vet or anything. It was just use and the vet staff.I feel bad because I don’t really like to complain or do reviews - I used to work in retail - reviews suck. But I wanted to share my experience and severe disappointment in case others have experienced it or to forewarn others to be cautious and double check their paperwork etc.Let me tell you... it’s not good walking around my house right now....They did credit me back some money but that not what it’s all about.... there’s nothing that can undo it and make it right.
Take my cat to animal hospital walk in front door with cat in carrier. Lady behind counter wearing mask makes a bee line telling me to stand outside and call. Walk out and call to be told 8 hours to see a vet. Now you couldnt say that inside? Complete paranoia even tho mask mandate has been lifted for months. Ends up cats got blocked intestine, found that out by going to another animal hospital. Will NEVER go to plainfield animal hospital again their safe place can stay safe now!
Dr Kilpatrick was amazing, she did everything in her power to help our dog. She was very knowledgeable, compassionate, and honest. Could not ask for a better Dr. and service. She was realistic about all the treatment option, explaining them well while also being able to give price quotes when asked.Would recommend this clinic to anyone. We have had to use the emergency services twice unfortunately, however they made a hard situations bearable, and did a fantastic job both times with our dog, what more could you ask for?
Thank you to all! Maribel thank you so much for being understanding and showing Al Capone and me empathy during our visit. Must important PATIENCE! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Animal Care Center has honestly been so awesome for our people-reactive Bloodhound. We got our dog end of February 2020, right before the closures with Covid, and ACC always took pre-caution to our dog’s issues. We often board our bloodhound here and the staff makes me feel so comfortable with leaving him there, even though he can be aggressive. The techs and kennel staff really love animals, it shows. Thank you SO much ACC for caring for our big boy Buford. You guys have been a blessing to my family!
The doctors kept me up to date and were honest with me on how my dog was doing. Even though he didnt make it, I know they did everything possible. Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and techs. Thank you also for the sweet card and quick delivery of his ashes.
Our pup had an emergency due to a cut quick we tried for an hour to get bleed to stop. Called Shorewood location did not realize we got the Plainfield location. The staff answering phones were very rude and short. Said I called Shorewood# and she snapped saying “there closed!!” Ok so I asked does that mean I need to bring my pup to you for an emergency? Again she snapped and said “well Shorewood is closed!” So husband took our pup in for her nail bleeding. He came home upset with how they treated him. He said they were short with him and didn’t give any directions on how to care for our pup. We are concerned when it comes to her paws as she had a leg amputated before we got her to an infection that started in her paw and traveled though her leg. They dismissed his concerns like that didn’t matter. They took our pup to the back wrapped up her paw brought back to my husband and said “we are filling a pain prescription for her” and left the room. The receptionist came and got them to check out. She kept answering phones so my husband couldn’t even get his questions answered about how long does the wrap stay on, what should we look for if there is an issue, etc. This is unacceptable as he was very distraught over having accidentally cutting her quick. The staff needs some training in empathy and patience with Fur-babies parents . I gave 2 stars only because they were able to get her bandaged and that is not an easy task. But they really need to slow down and give clear precise directions to the caregivers of these babies!
This place is great if you have a genuine emergency with your pet. They are open 24/7 and accept walk-ins. However, I would not recommend them as your primary vet for routine visits. It’s very difficult to get someone on the phone and almost impossible to make an appointment. If you show up during the day you might be waiting in the car with your pet for over an hour.
I am unfortunately making the decision to leave. I have had to wait for 4 hours one time. But its never shorter than 2 hours everytime and it takes me 40 minutes to get there. It used to be worth the drive. But I am finding myself having to take a whole day just to sit there in the parking lot. Service is horrible lately and my pets have been going there for 16 years. Im not one to write a bad review but I have never been so disappointed coming from a long time customer.
We have been using ACC for our dogs, past and present, for many years. We have had nothing but high praise for the way our dogs were/are treated for illness, well being, and boarding. Lately, once again, we boarded our dog for 10 days while on vacation and called to check on her everyday to make sure she is okay. The staff has always taken/made the time to talk to us and give updates on our dog. Whenever our 7 yr old dog was sick, we would always call first and then come down. Now, with Covid, with all past policies/procedures being changed/adjusted, I have found that a lot of veterinarian offices and hospitals have been swamped continuously with more people/pets needing treatment and assurances. I have learned that Covid has not only hit us, the customer/consumer hard, but also the staffs at many other veterinarian offices and hospitals as well. There are offices that are struggling due in part to being shorthanded due to employees being sick with Covid also. To all the people that have had a bad experience, whether at ACC or some other place, I do feel your pain and am sorry. But, the fact remains that staffing shortages are a direct result due mostly in part by todays Covid conditions. Staffs are overworked while being shorthanded. Think about this, would the same problem with your pet have the same result without Covid? Think back to PreCovid. Problems like as described were few and far between. Covid has made things a lot worse. Has service got worse at restaurants or at retail stores? Yes, stores and restaurants are/have been short staffed resulting in prolonged delays. Sure, but they are coming back. Service will get better in time, I am confident in saying, as Covid diminishes and places revert back to PreCovid conditions. It will take time.By the way, I am NOT an employee of ACC or any other veterinarian office and hospital. I am a very logical customer/consumer who sees and understands the predicament all types of businesses are in.Speaking about ACC from past experience, I have nothing but high praise for all the staff and doctors I have associated with over the years, especially during Covid. As a whole, they ARE compassionate and understanding. You see, they also have pets too!
They need more doctors on call for the emergency hours also the vet techs can preform screen duties but do not. The wait is terrible and maybe not their faults but definitely understaffed.
Don’t make an appointment! If a walk-in arrives right before your appointment you could easily be waiting 45-60 minutes. The turn over of doctors over the years seems quite high. They tend to hire young doctors who go to a different clinic after a few years.
I have a male, adult Rottweiler that I adopted from a rescue only 3 months ago. I simply dont know him well enough yet, and early on he had some aggressive issues. He developed a problem with his ear and I had not taken him to any vet yet (I was warned by the foster couple that he was especially aggressive with the vet they took him to).I needed help, and I started calling around. Many simply could not help me quickly, and my boy was suffering. Luckily I was turned on to this center. With it being primarily walk-in, they encouraged me to bring my dog in immediately. I feared a big price spike for such a service; others wanted to set an appointment that would be days out, but I was wrong, the price was right in line with other locations.I brought my dog in, followed the clear instructions on the doors (this is being written during covid restrictions), and they were able to get my dog in within 30 minutes of my showing up. I muzzled my dog following the advice of the foster couple. After bringing my dog up to the door and handing him over, the staff was so incredibly patient with him. Hes terrible on a leash still.Within 10 minutes of them taking him in, the doctor called me and explained what she found, thanked me (!) for taking the extra precaution of the muzzle, and commented that he was behaving very well for them, which means their care of him was excellent. I had my dog back in less than an hour.I think Ive found my new vet clinic. The staff was amazing, they obviously care about animals and helped me be more comfortable handing my new dog off for treatment. The doctor was patient and answered all my questions, even the frankly dumb ones. My dog came out feeling much better and was not unnecessarily stressed out.
Animal Care Center immediately attended one of our rescue dogs who was in heart failure and had all the medical expertise and equipment to care for him. Vet gave us 2x/day updates, and Benji then went back to his foster home after two days. We feel they saved his life. We have been to numerous other emergency vets, and we are very pleased with their service and compassion. And their prices were very reasonable. Thank you.
Took our baby in on Monday morning very sick. He has to stay over night but the compassion and love to our boy was unending! Constant phone calls keeping his moms up to date on everything! We never had to worry and question what was going on or the status he was in! He came our happy as could be and was so cared for. Thank you for the love you gave to not only Mac but to these 2 worried mommies!!!!
I think you should put more consideration towards the care of family pets coming into your facility and less focus on just making money off of someone in need of help for their beloved family friend. I met with Nick Spodak because our 8 month old new family pet was lethargic and very timid. I did mention that he was drinking and eating and not throwing up and BM s were fine. He had very little compassion for my puppy and only checked a few things and insisted he needed a hydration sack and just gave us some Vetprofen and sent us on our way. Come back in a day or two if he gets worse was his profession opinion. $345 was the bill !!! We decided to visit another vet in the area who showed actual care for animals. Something to think about ??
I was trying to pick up a medicine for my cat and the receptionist told me I would have to wait and hung up immediately. When I called back I was told they had no idea when the drug would be ready and told me to wait. After waiting almost a hour I called back again to find out they actually never asked the vet about the drug who would have told them it was ready... by the time of the third call the vet was out and wouldnt be back for 2 hours.Edit: the next day went a lot better with the receptionist
My family has been taking our pups to ACC for years. When I finally got a puppy of my own I was so happy to be able to bring my baby to the same place that had taken such wonderful care of my two older pups - including when we unfortunately lost our old girl a year ago. I have had my puppy for just short of 2 months, and they have done nothing but take my money and ignore my concerns after 3 visits to their office - 2 of which were for one singular concern. When I called AGAIN about his pain and bathroom issues (which has been going on for a month now) they told me to bring him in immediately… only to neglect to inform me that their office was on a 3 hour wait for walk ins. Something that would have been nice to know before I made the 30 minute drive both ways. They wouldn’t see him because he “seemed stable” upon first sight, yet the woman on the phone seemed concerned enough about what I was describing to recommend I bring him in immediately. If your dog is REALLY sick, bring them elsewhere. Otherwise, you will be waiting in the car for an hour+ hoping and praying they can squeeze you in to their totally messed up and crazy schedule. ACC, get more doctors/techs or figure out a better way to do this because I will NEVER be bringing my puppy back.
Animal Care Center is the best. They treated my Shitzu Crystal with the utmost love, care & honor as she needed some massive surgery that was scary to me, but critical. They have the best service, Maribel took care of me as I navigated some things & made me feel that all would be well & her health. Thank you all for being so wonderful with my precious little daughter Crystal.
I brought my dog in because he was having difficulty breathing all of a sudden and was lethargic as well as reverse sneezing frequently. We were sent home as he suspected it was allergies. Dr. Michael said at the end of the visit when he heard my dog reverse sneeze Oh, now I believe you. After 2 days of him not improving I took a closer look and just pulled a long blade of grass from my dogs nose. Isnt that something he should have checked? So frustrating to spend all that money for no help.
I cannot tell people how much this hospital amazes me! For a little back story, I recently got a blue heeler puppy, named Indigo and only had her for about two days before I had to rush her to Mallard Point Veterinary Clinic. She was then diagnosed with my worst nightmare, canine parvovirus. On top of that she was also dealing with roundworms! I made the decision along with my Veterinarian to transfer her to ACC and, boy, it was the best decision Ive ever made in my whole life! The staff is unbelievably kind and generous, especially the nurses and doctors treating her. I especially appreciated Dr. Harriss kind care towards Indigo, and am grateful for their hospitality and supportive care for her as she has been battling this virus. She is still currently fighting her battle and I cannot say how absolutely astonished I am with all of the love and support she is receiving. They have been treating her like family and I cannot say thank you enough! They are truly a blessing on Earth and I am so unbelievably grateful for each and every one of their staff members for doing everything they can for Indigo. ❤
Fantastic service with kind and loving staff! I take my dog here for medical care and grooming and we are extremely satisfied with their service and wouldn’t have it any other way! I would recommend this veterinary hospital to anyone who is reading this because they will take EXTRA good care of your best friend!
If we would have left our dog in their care overnight, we would have brought a dead dog home rather than still having her alive today. they told us she would not survive the night, even if they completed a surgery on her because of the condition she was in.. but they still wanted to operate. thank GOODNESS they allowed her to lay in the car with us while they ran her blood to see if she would even be able to undergo surgery. that was the best decision we made. we ended up taking her home that night, against medical advice. that was 6 weeks ago and we still have our pup. leaving that night gave us more time with her that they told us was not even an option. no idea how this place is still in business or has not gotten sued beyond belief.
I made a last minute appointment that turned into surgery for my dog. DR. Taylor explained in detail about what was needed and the pricing. They gave me a next day appointment for surgery and all went well. The staff kept me updated, and explained in detail what is needed next. Thank You to the entire staff for your amazing communication and compassion.
This place has changed for the worst drastically over the years. We have been taking our animals here since they opened thier doors. Today, after waiting over 2 hours for our scheduled 10am appointment, I cancelled our monthly membership and will never return. If it only happened a few times, I would not have canceled, however this has occurred numerous times. They should not take appointments, nor peoples money for their monthly memberships if they are going to have the client sit for hours waiting for thier scheduled appointments. This was not a one time occurrence. It has happened several times. They are not apologetic about it. They have not attempted to correct it. In fact, they turn it around on the client, attempting to make the client feel like they are the ones at fault. There are many other veterinarians in the area that respect thier clients time. My recommendation would be to go to the other veterinariansin the area. Not here.
My husband who brought our 10 year old Chihuahua into your facility after our baby had been playing and had a great day with friends just a few hours earlier...but, that night she became very ill and disoriented. After several hours waiting in the car not knowing what was going on. He was sent home with antibiotics and a hydration bag...by the time he got her home she no longer had a gag reflex and she died in my arms...at your place it was suggested she had a seizure and was dehydrated but, no anti-seizure or any medication or IV was given to her. He was not explained how sick she was, he thought by morning she would be better thats what they led him to believe...thats why he brought her home...He then brought her back for a cremation and there was no acknowledgement that he had been there with her just a few hours earlier. When he called the next day to find out what had happened they blamed my husband. A veteran with PTSD who brought them his therapy dog to be cared for and they blamed him for her death...I hope this post can save someone elses animal...If you bring your animal here make sure you are their advocate. I was on the phone with my husband during the conversations and I heard no urgency for our girl to stay.Ask a ton of questions, and get the written records before you leave.
Impressed. Was able to get in within an hour of calling. And he waived the office visit fee to my surprise. Process in regard to the virus much simpler than our usual vet.
Last night our baby Ezra was suffering when we brought him in and with heavy broken hearts he had to be sent to heaven. I am grateful for the kindness that was given to my husband and daughter during the process. I am autoimmune and could not be there. I am grateful for the warm blanket you wrapped my baby in so I could say goodbye to him when they brought him home and we buried him. May God bless you all and thank you for your honesty and kindness with our beloved family member.
Ridiculous wait times for prescription pickup. I waited an HOUR on hold and this is not the 1st time either. The office is understaffed and poorly run. The Vets there are nice but I have no more patience and my time is valuable. Transferring to another practice.
We have been taking our dogs to ACC for over 25 years. For many years we were very satisfied. But as they expanded and changed employees their attention and compassion suffered. I understand that during Covid there were certain protocols that needed to be followed. Their phone system is terrible. You were either on the phone for a long time or the phone wasnt answered at all. What completely made me change toward them was when I called to make an appointment for me dog (quality of life) and they would not let you go in with the dog. At this point we were within days of Phase 5 for Covid. We found another vet that would let one person go in with the dog. After that we made the heartbreaking decision to have our dog euthanized. I called ACC and was number 16 in line to get through (I hung up). We found a mobile vet that came to our house. A few weeks later I called ACC to ask if they received the info that our dog was no longer with us, they said yes. Six weeks later we have not heard anything from them. The vet we took our dog to one time sent us a condolence card but the vet we have been going to for over 25 years, NOTHING. Very disheartening. We will be going elsewhere in the future.
Waste of time and money. Will never come back here again. Make sure you get the name of who you speak to and make sure pricing info is correct. I brought in my dog for a second opinion. I had called the day before and told them why i was bringing him in and was told first time consultation were $81 and revisits $61. spent almost 2 hours there and got charged $125. Unbelievable. Receptionist was also rude. My advice make sure everyone is on board with giving out correct pricing info.
Best place out there! Over the years Ive taken 4 different dog there from yearly shots to having surgeries. All staff members have always been respectfully and kinda. Yes with covid things are a little less convenient (like every else) but they do there best, they constantly communicate in emails about changes, they added another phone line check in. You can tell they truly care for animals & the owners.
I have Had nothing but great experiences here! There can be a tiny bit of a wait but that is because it is primarily a walk in clinic. staff is ALWAYS extremely nice and helpful and willing to work with my difficult pets! My pets always receive the best care here and i will Never go anywhere else!
If you love your pets you will find some place else to take them for care. The front office staff has no compassion and does not care. The indifference of their doctors blows my mind for an 24 hour emergency clinic. If you want to spend a bunch of money to get kicked in the shorts this is your place !!!!
I had been a client here for about 15 years. At the beginning I felt my pets got the best care ever, but then the care and service deteriorated when the lockdown started. I had my 2 dogs in there, one was in for 45 mins for a nail trim, and no one told us he had been hurt. 2 days later, he almost 1/2 inch of raw red flesh exposed on a dewclaw. I called to make an appt 3 weeks ago, and asked if you were allowing owners inside because I was not going to let him go in alone and scared. Your staff told me they didnt know, and I said I was going to go elsewhere if you couldnt decide quickly. My dog needed to be seen. She told me, I will put a note in your file to say you will no longer be returning. Not exactly what I was hoping to hear, so she made it a very easy decision to leave a practice we loved until you couldnt find it in your best interest to let owners in. In the 15 or so years we have been clients, the service has never been so poor. Thank you for making it easy to leave.
Needed to bring my furry baby to the Hospital for first time, Im happy to have found this one. They were very friendly, from front desk, (even though I was asked to wait outside due to my dog was exposed to Kennle Cough at a Spa) you never know. The hospital was very clean looking, no dog smell & numerous dogs were in their as I was checking in.The Vet was very nice & quick, my little one bit her, he didnt want no part of her..The cost was awesome, no more then $100.00, also sent home with meds...I have no complaint for this Hosp & would recommend.
Great communication. Had a very sick puppy that no one thought would make it but they never gave up on her.
We had our new dog spayed this week. The staff doctors and everyone is kind, courteous and listen to you and your pets needs. We’ve been going here for 12 years now and have never had a bad experience.
Highly recommend going here if you ever have a pet emergency. Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, and the fees and rates are beyond acceptable considering the situation. Will 100% go here over other 24 hour emergency vets in the future.
I have been going there for 25 years. Our vet has since retired but everyone there is knowledgeable and very nice to work with. I take all 3 of my dogs there.
This is the absolute worst place I have ever been to! They are completely worthless and the entire facility should be shut down!
They were fast, caring, friendly. Have been here twice for emergencies when my vet couldnt get us in and they were great!
They have provided amazing care to my pup. I trust this facility and especially a certain tech. With my dog. Im one of those types of people that has a hard time going on Vacation because I hate leaving my dog. NOT with this place! I feel totally comfortable and feel as though I can definitely relax when I do go on vacation without having to call every day to see how she is doing. They have saved her life as well when she was very sick with her cluster seizures! Cant thank ACC enough! Love you guys!
Not special needs friendly. Zero sensitivity/public training
Very compassionate about our dogs needs and care. Went over every detail and scenario with us about his condition and treatment options.
COVID has decimated their ability to provide prompt service. I can never get anyone to answer my calls here and when I do, it takes 15 minutes of me waiting on the phone. While I can appreciate how busy they are providing much-needed emergency veterinary services, perhaps hiring a full-time operator (like the old days) would lend some efficiency to their practice. For $12 or $13 per hour, hire a college student to juggle all of the phone calls that are strictly for appointments, grooming, questions, etc. Front line staff at the check-in desk always seem slammed and on edge.On the pet-care side, Ive been a regular client for the last two and half years and only recently has my pet been afraid when I drop him off there. I think the vets are competent, but my confidence in them has severely diminished as of late.
I set up an appt for 5pm and still had to wait an HOUR just to get my pup’s rabies shot & nail trim. If you’re going to go just be prepared to wait around in your car. Or call and check in before you even get there. Extremely frustrating wait time even after setting up an appointment weeks in advance.
We had a late night emergency that involved a rush to Animal Care Center on Halloween. Even while I was a nervous wreck out of concern, I was calmly spoken to and all my questions were answered. By the end of the visit, our issues were addressed and we left content and safe. They had handled covid procedures very well and kept me informed each step of the way. Thanks for the great care and service!
An urgent care of sorts but my pup was seen quickly, the vet was knowledgeable and considerate and my dogs injury is doing well thanks to ACC.
After what I saw what happened today passing by, I’ll recommend you to some friends. Your staff cares a lot about animals.
Would not recommend this place to anyone. We took our 13 year old Chihuahua there this morning to have him put down. He was in heart failure, he was having a difficult time breathing and we wanted to end his suffering. This place was recommend to us. Upon our arrival there was a number on the door to call for emergencies. We called, it said if you have an emergency to go to the front door and use the buzzer. A staff member came out and asked about our emergency. My husband explained that our dog was in heart failure and wasnt breathing well, basically dying on my lap in the car. She told him to call the number on the door and press zero to check-in. My husband came back to the car and called the number again and pressed zero, as he was instructed. When he pressed zero the automated system said that zero was an invalid option, so he hung up and tried again three more times. Still nothing. He went back up to the front door and buzzed it again. Another staff member came out, (with an attitude) he told her he was calling the number as he was told and it wasnt working. The staff member told him he must be doing something wrong. She then looked back at the door where their sign was and realized they had the WRONG number on their sign!!! She did not apologize for their mistake. She verbally gave him the correct number to call to complete the check-in process and went back inside. A staff member then took down the wrong sign and put up the correct one. We called the correct number and told the staff member on the phone of our emergency and our wishes. She took the information she needed and said she would call right back to explain the process. We waited in our car with our dying dog for 20 minutes.... we then decided to call again to find out what was taking so long. She told us that euthanasia is not considered an emergency and that there were walk-ins ahead of us. ARE YOU KIDDING ME, MY DOG IS GASPING FOR AIR, HE IS DYING!!!! WE ARE THERE TO END HIS SUFFERING AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE AND THAT IS NOT CONSIDERED AN EMERGENCY. She then said they could take our dog in so they could monitor him until it was his turn but we would not be able to enter the facility yet. My husband took him to the door and gave him to a staff member. That was the last moment I got to see him, crying and panicked because my dog cant breathe, not exactly the goodbye I wanted. We waited 25 more minutes in the car before they called and said my husband could come in. Yep, only allowed one of us to go in to be with him at the end. My husband went in and about 20 minutes later he returned to the car. He told me he has never experienced something so horrible and staff so unprofessional and lacking empathy. My husband was put in a room where they brought in our dog, already hooked up to the IV, the staff member told him the doctor would be right in. NOT, he heard the doctor take a phone call and when finished with the phone call, laugh and bad mouth the customer to his staff members, so UNPROFESSIONAL!!! My poor dog ended up suffering for over an hour longer than he should have. Not one single staff member or Doctor said anything to my husband when he was leaving, not even a simple Sorry for your loss. My husband and I will never forget this horrible day. We have had a few animals over the years that had to be put down and we have never dealt with a facility like this one. THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! I wish we would have read their reviews before hand, we are not the only ones apparently that have had such a horrible experience. 😭😡😭
Beyond excellent care!! We took our puppy to Animal Care Center in Plainfield for an emergency visit after she was bit by another dog. The staff was absolutely amazing at explaining everything to us while giving our puppy exceptional care. Dr. Carrie Kurtz was fantastic and fixed our girl right up! Highly recommend Animal Care Center in Plainfield for any need your pet may have!
Deceptive pricing or simply staff that does not have the care or ability to provide accurate pricing.Visited animal care clinic in Plainfield and called a week before my appointment to go over pricing. The first time I asked for an estimate was put on hold for about 15 minutes and was email me a blank PDF. Calling back the next day I received a price for $240 And I asked in regards to the neuter certificate if they accepted it And if there was any other associated costs and they said no. So I went to get my dogs initial exam which was $125 a little over market price if you ask me.When I arrived I walked and stated I had an appointment and they dismissed me saying that I need to call the number listed on the front even though the reception area was 10 feet away from them.i also Explained to them that I was interested in our services due to the neuter certificate that I got at a local shelter And asked if they would honor that and they said yes. So I had my dogs examination and then was handed a estimate for $340 dollars For in my opinion are largely unnecessary charges for the situation of my dog.Upon questioning these charges the staff became aggressive and those charges i was told did not include the neuter and that would be $660,mind you this being after the doctor looking at my dog for examination otherwise i would have not paid the $125 visit vs my old vet charged closer to $65 (archer vetinary). Also I feel the appointment time that I scheduled was long and I was there for over 45 minutes for an appointment that I had scheduled. Also in addition to that to top it all off I was told that all the services could’ve been taken care of the day of the neuter. Overall I believe that this is a place that is best to be avoided due to my experience and countless others that have taken time to review there experiences with them on google maps,yelp,etc....Simply put if you’re looking for accurate pricing without the red tape And compassion and attentive care from staff this is definitely not the place to take your pet for care and who knows If they treat you like this for asking simple questions who knows how they take care of their pets during examination/treatment
The best staff! They really go above and beyond with care and support of our fur babies and all other animals. I love this care center and they made sure my cat, Charlie, was comfortable and taken care of on his visit. They also helped diagnose and treat his thyroid issues. Thank you so much for all your concern, support, and love you give to us all.
Great service for our 2 dogs! Excellent and friendly service.
So disappointed with this place. First problem was I called ahead giving detailed info regarding my dogs symptoms, they said bring her in. Mind you it’s about 10pm. Quoted me $120 for the visit, once there they said $130. At this point I was skeptical but we were there and my dog had a fever so I just wanted help for her. After 2.5hrs received call that they couldn’t diagnose her without running extensive tests & X-rays that they couldn’t do at night. They would be taking a shot in the dark to diagnose Because just looking at her they don’t know whats wrong with her but gave me a $1600 treatment plan. Can’t afford that! I said what can be done Now to help with the fever, any antibiotics? She the doctor says yes we can give her fluids and antibiotics now and send her home $255. We still could not pay that much. So to sum it up I wasted time and money and my poor dog is still sick without any medication. They took the $130 and that was it! I tried to ask if there was anything else that could be done with the little money I had. NOTHING! I will never go back to that place again. They could have told me all this over the phone instead of me bringing my dog out. I understand they have a business to run but really! I feel like I just flushed $130 down the toilet. This place is about the money
Making an appointment is pointless if I’m going to be sitting in my car for an hour still. I’ve never experienced this type of system with any other vet. It’s upsetting because my day can’t revolve around getting my pet into the vet. Also, Ive been very specific with what I want for grooming and have not received what I’m asking for. Fed up. Not returning. Would not recommend at all.
I brought my sweet little girl in late last night, for degloving at the tip of the tail, after having a really poor experience trying to take her somewhere else. Every single person I delt with here was kind, compassionate, friendly, reassuring, and all around amazing. This is my baby and they truly get that and went above and beyond to make sure that both of us were comfortable and well taken care of while also maintaining covid standards. Im beyond grateful to everyone here! My girl had to have the tip of her tail amputated to avoid tissue death, the staff did a wonderful job at explaining the hows and whys and reassuring me, they kept her overnight and took great care of her and the procedure went very well. If I could give them 10 stars I would! And Ill definitely be going to them for any vet needs we may have in the future.
Ever since I switched over I have not regret it. I always get great services when I take my dog in for grooming as well as when I bored him. Staff know my dog by sight and always have great things to say about him when he comes home either from grooming, boarding, or even the vet visit for his annual shots. I would definitely recommend Animal Care Center to others.
No matter what they are always there to help, day or night. They have been crazy busy due to COVID and never turn anyone away. (Just have to wait your turn.) They give with all they can! Thank you Animal Care Center! You guys are amazing, keep rocking it!
