I recently adopted my girl last week and she came to me with kennel cough, fleas, and a deep puncture wound that was infected. This “rescue” completely neglected this girl by not providing her with proper veterinarian care, and put her up for adoption with these medical conditions. I contacted the rescue in which an appointment was made to see the wound. The only care they provided was cough medicine and anti bacteria pills to give her. They did not clean the wound, or drain it. I am extremely upset and disappointed by the care she was given and I pray that the other animals receive better. I do not trust this rescue, for they have put my health, and my other dogs health at risk because of their negligence. I now will have to take her to the ER so she can be properly cared for since the Humane Animal Rescue neglected to do so.

Mahogany ran for help when I was in danger. Animal control picked her up, took her to Humane Animal Rescue, they read her microchip, but they had old address & didnt know where to come. So she overnighted there, got up-to-date on her shots, new license & registration, and was waiting when I picked her up the following morning.Thank you all. My GIRL did what no one else could. She ran for help. 💖🐕💖

This review is for the adoption center. If you follow the procedure (fill out an application online, wait for them to call to set up an appointment, arrive at the appropriate time, call to be let in) everything goes very smoothly. The wait time was about a week until they got back to me to set up an appointment for a cat meet. True, when I arrived the call kept going through to voicemail but I just kept redialing until someone was able to pick up. They’ve got tens of animals to care for so I’m not surprised they aren’t just standing around by the phones.The facility itself was really clean and the staff was super friendly. We were able to meet a couple different pets before we picked the one we felt was right for us.Once we made out pick we were checked out and good to go in five minutes.Worth every penny for our new family member. Thank you for your wonderful work!

Just finished up our Puppy Kindergarten training class and we LOVED Kelly! Both trainers were amazing and so very helpful! Affordable and highly recommended! Will be attending the intermediate classes when they open up!

Good service. Im extremely happy that stray or unwanted animals have a opportunity to be rescused and be given love. HOWEVER, THEY HAVE GOTTEN EXTREMELY PRICEY,IT APPEARS TO HAVE BECOME MORE OF A BUSINESS TO PROFIT,VERSES A HUMANE SOCIETY!

Ive called and left voicemails about having to surrender my cats because my daughter is allergic and no one will return my voice-mail. I just want my cats to be removed properly and taken care of. It would be nice to at least have our calls answered instead of ignoring us. But as I can see no one elses voice-mail is being returned either pretty sad. Called and left voice-mail for 3rd time lets see if maybe they call back now.

I called this location couple times but no one picked up my calls, then I walked in. The lady from adoption department said that she can not let me in because I don’t have an appointment. She said that I have to leave a voice mail then they call back. I was already there but lady didn’t make an appointment that time she kept say that I have to leave a voice mail. So I did it. No one called me back. If they don’t pick up the phones, don’t turn the voice mails, don’t let you in when you there and never make an appointment when you already there, how we can adopt an animal! Tell me something! I believe that the animals inside so unhappy because it looks like they never let the people get in!

Attended a Vaccine Event here and the staff was so patient and amazing. I have a very difficult dog and when he was causing trouble, four of the staff came out to see if I could comfort my pup during the shots so he could get them done. They were extremely understanding and so so kind. They even gave me advice and recommendations for helping with my dogs anxiety.

I was a little worried having not been to this exact location but my bulldog is doing great. She needed spayed and they did a fantastic job. Shes older but had no issues at all. Would recommend :)

We recently adopted a fantastic cat from here and was very impressed(and of course relieved) with how smooth and well ran everything was. The man that helped us and introduced us to the cat was very friendly and helpful with the process, made it all clear and easy. We were provided lots of info on the little guy and even received a bag of his favorite food as well as a laser pointer and few other toys before taking him home.Highly recommend this location if you’re looking to adopt, couldn’t have been happier with the process

We wanted to come and adopt a cat for today. We called but no one answered our phone. we came to the door and they kicked us out of the door officially, he did not give a face-to-face appointment, he said that they did not answer the phone when we called and that we had to go to voicemail. If they behave this way, how will the cats and dogs find a home for themselves? I saw a cat through the window and it was obvious that he was very unhappy. Why not, how can such employees find a home?

The staff at Humane Animal Rescue East were awesome. Made the process so easy. Thanks for for bringing Raja /Bailey (new name) into our lives. She definitely came out of her shell quickly. She is a sweet girl and we love her. Thank you again for the phone call. Now our home is complete.

They took wonderful care of our cat Lita at a very reasonable rate. Saved her life. Now shes down to 7.

Great staff they are extremely compassionate, worst day of my life I to euthanize my dog after 16 1/2 yrs.

Im sitting here trying to get into this place so I can help volunteer and every time I call it says that nobodys available to answer the phone I am not going to drive down there for no reason either! I just really would like to try to volunteer because Im about to lose my dog here in a week and I would like to start volunteering to help me out and help other dogs out! Its a complete joke I tried for hours throughout the day! Nobody will answer I may as well drive myself down!

They never return calls. I guess they screen the voicemail of each person who wants to adopt. Well anyway I when and purchased a Siamese. I wont refer them to anyone.

Humame Animal Rescue was amazing! I adopted a dog from them last week and it went so smoothly. They do same day adoptions (if youre comfortable with that) and I was so happy to bring my new dog home because I became instantly attached.I took him to my vet and they said the shelter did a dantastic job, he neuter site is heeling nicely and with his check-up, they could tell he had been well taken care of. Definitely utilize them and donate if possible!!

What a wonderful and caring place. We took our puppy there for her first vet appointment and it was a very positive experience. The facility is brand new and has parking. There’s also a store inside for pet goods.

Appalled at what the humane society has become. I recently moved into a neighborhood where several stray cats and kittens are living in an abandoned house. I contacted the humane animal rescue and asked them for help. At the very least I had hoped that they could help with catch, neuter and release for the adult females and adoption for the kittens. At best, I think several of the adults are adoptable also. I left a message there (they currently dont allow walk ins and no one ever answers any of their phone lines) and it took 2 weeks for them to call back. They called while I was at work and unable to answer. The woman left a message saying I have to make an appointment. And that it was my fault there was an issue because I was feeding that cats. I literally moved into this neighborhood a week before calling and was clear about that in my message. Im not sure how Im supposed to make an appointment when it takes them 2 weeks to return calls and they call while Im at work. Do they set the appointment and then I must call off work to be there at whatever time and day they decide ? 2 litters of kittens have been born in this house since I called them. They are starting to run around in the street. Some will probably be hit by cars and the others will go on to have more kittens in the spring. Im absolutely appalled at what the human society has become.

This place is amazing when it comes to fur babies. However, 3/5 stars because half the time I call this place, especially the clinic, whoever answers is rude. Hang up on you while you’re talking rude. Super unprofessional and I hope those people don’t work with the animals.

Nice for adopting pets for the home or apartment

We had to take our 13 almost 14 year old Pekingese to them because we could No longer care for her. They were very kind & compassionate. We believe they will do their best to find her a loving home.

My brother and I just adopted a dog from here. The staff were amazing and spent hours with us during a meet and greet with our current dog to make sure we had a good match and a smooth transition. They kept impeccable records for her treatment history while with them and explained everything thoroughly. I would definitely adopt from them again!

Great place...during covid hrs, make sure to call there is a number on the signs for clinic parking in the first parking spots. I thought we were to park kinda around the cul-de-sac, during drop-off so I didnt see the signs, lol!! Also 2wks later have at least $30 for the one booster shot at least thats how it was for my cat.

I called 2 different numbers and nobody answered nor returned my calls from Voicemail. They service is horrible.

Was talked into making an appointment where my animal needed a full bladder (after wrangling the cat) and transporting to the appointment, I was promptly “talked out of” the appointment saying it “wasn’t necessary but if you wanted...” (couldn’t this have been communicated prior - like returning calls???)Animal spent a lovely Saturday morning in the crate soiling himself on the ride home. I will never seek advice from humane animal rescue veterinary services from this specific incident (despite 10 previous years of using their services).

This is to the adopter of Tinkerbell, 6 months ago on the 17th... I still cry everyday for her, because had no choice in giving her up. My heart broke that day, I will never forget how scared and bewildered she was. Please love her as much as I did, she was such a loving little girl. She was smart, loving and very eager to please. I am so sorry I had to break her heart that day as well. She had a comedic personality, so full of life. I will never forget her, please give her a hug and kiss for me! I know I can never see her again, but she will always be in my heart. I hope she has adapted well to her new home, and is once again the happy, silly little sweetheart that she always was. Her birthday is the 31st this month (March)...she will be 7 years old. Hope she has a wonderful day!

The Humane Society is a wonderful place. The East End location is just beautiful. I had only ever been to the north side previously. I adopted a bunny today and she is very clearly happy and well taken care of. They had me bring my bunny in to meet her and their resident bunny expert Maggie was just phenomenal. She is so knowledgeable and super sweet. Thank you so much guys, we had a wonderful experience and I will definitely be back! I would definitely recommend that anybody looking for an animal visits any of the Humane Animal Rescue locations for a rescue before buying from a breeder or pet store. They truly care in the animals there are very well taken care of and happy, they all need homes though!!!!

First the Hamilton Ave. shelter is no kill. Second the new building is do clean and quiet. As usual the staff is well informed about the animals and very compassionate when they are surrendered. This visit there was a turtle about the size of a cereal bowl, a rabbit, several medium and large dogs as well as a large selection of cats. Unfortunately we were looking for a small dog. Next time well call first. It broke my heart to leave them there.

I found the perfect dog!

They were so gentle with my 14 yr old dog. It was so nice and clean. The medication they used for his ear infection was different from what I had been given by other Vets but I saw improvement by the end of the day. The price was great

My dog was brought here by Animal Control, but quickly returned to me. While Patience was there, she was examined and discovered to have a UTI that was NEVER disclosed to me.

They love animals and take great care of them and getting them adopted. I foster cats for them and have adopted two.There are two locations. The East location on Hamilton avenue was formerly the Animal Rescue League. The North Side location was formerly the Humane Society. The merged to better serve local animal welfare needs.

The staff was very welcoming. Giving a pet up isnt always easy but found that this place was experienced and heart warming to my Rocky. Felt he was safe in their hands and that he would get another great home.

Just try to call this place. I dare you. After the system picks up, it will be at least 2 mins of information followed by pushing 2, then 2 more minutes of information followed by more directions then more directions and more pushing numbers, but you will never get a human. You will just get 100 options and 100 different numbers to push followed by Were sorry, nobody is here to take your call. Meanwhile, you lost 10 minutes of your time and did not get to accomplish what you called for. It is making me think that I should donate money elsewhere. I had so much fun, seeing all the animals! My aunt, Monica, works here and I really wish I was her. The staff is amazing, super nice and genuine. All the animals were so adorable and looked well taken care of. I fell in love with this one cat, so precious. I wish I couldve gotten her. Overall I really enjoyed my time there.

The way they treat animals is exactly what their name say. The employees do their job with alot of love and I left with a peaceful mind knowing the animals were well cared for.

I am a dog walker/coach volunteer here and I love it. Every dog is taking care of very good. They are healthy and trained to be adopted as soon as possible. The kennels are pristine and the the dog are very much loved. They are available and super nice people. They really love every dog and they are very happy when they are adopted. I have visited the cat and rabbit sections in East end location too and Im sure is the same for them! If you want a dog dont hesitate to contact them. Im sure youll find the right one for you!!

Can drop off donations about 5 from the entrance. Makes donating quick and easy. Those poor animals need all the help and supplies we can give them.

My family and i found our forever pup her name is Pearl she is amazing. And we love her so much. All the employees are awesome and you can tell that they take pride in their work. Saving all precious animals findimg them loving forever homes. I cant thank them enough for all they do.

About to adopt a dog. He is a wonderful well behaved and fantastically maintained dog. The staff is friendly and caring. Many choices of animals from rabbits, cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, and much more. All facilities are clean and they offer many available services I have yet to try. Can’t wait to get him Wednesday!

I dont understand why the website doesnt have photos and information on every animal in the shelter so that people can see what pets are available.
