Ron, Kelsey and the rest of the Team at Underground Fitness North Central are just AWESOME. Theyve been kicking my mom bod back into shape for almost a year. I still have a ways to go but I know Ill get there with these tough trainers breathing down my neck and holding me accountable to the commitment I have made to myself. Kelsey and Ron are flexible and accommodating with my busy schedule as an attorney and mother, have helped me establish a personalized nutrition program, and regularly check-in to see how things are going. And, there are always lots of laughs to share with and words of encouragement to receive from the wonderful community of members that belong to the gym.
My trainer David was the best! He formulated a specific plan to target my needs and taught me how to continue on my own. Underground Fitness has been a worthwhile investment in my health and in finding a repeatable unique-to-me strengthening workouts!
Before joining Underground Fitness, I was not eating well and working out as consistently as I needed to which lead to unachievable results. I was not serious about eating healthy and my lack of commitment to working out on my own created fluctuations in my weight. The lack of results lead to constant frustration which would lead me to quitting and giving up. Ever since joining Underground Fitness, I have been able to get closer to achieving my goals. Ron has helped me develop a greater knowledge about dieting and counting macros and. Through my workout program, I have also tracked my daily goals, (making sure I eat all my meals, working out in the morning, making sure I squeeze time to meditate), small daily goals to achieve to make sure I am having a productive day. My trainer has helped set me up with workouts that are designed specifically for my goals such as weight loss and toning my body. Since joining Underground Fitness Ive lost a desirable amount of weight. I have noticed changes like more muscle gain as well as getting toned abs. I am very glad I joined this gym as they have helped me stay motivated in achieving my goals and holding me accountable for it. Since working out, I have more energy throughout day, I sleep better, and I am eating better. I would highly recommend this place as they have helped me become more successful in my weight loss journey and creating better daily habits for myself.
Before I started with Underground Fitness I was having a hard time building up strength for swim team. At the beginning, builging up that strength was difficult but Kelsey helps that by going at your pace and keeping you accountable. I have already noticed changes in how I am swimming faster since starting training and how the different muscles in my body are getting stronger.
Its all about results. I have had training before but without quite getting the dieting part right and not working out enough on my own. With the nutrition plan here I saw all those benefits Id always heard of but never experienced myself. I had to make more ambitious weight loss goals pretty quickly. At home I found myself wanting to work out more to achieve more in the gym. I have worked past weaknesses and now feel on top of my limitations. Cant praise this place enough. In the past 5 weeks I have noticed a big change in my strength and physique. The personal trainers Kelsey and Rob are brilliant at what they do. They will size you up based on your sport and goals, creating a personal Workout Program/meal plan that will get yea what you need. Plus the payments are very flexible.
Kelsey is my trainer. She is very skilled at her job. I am 70 and she designed me a workout that is challenging yet realistic. I had an injury unrelated to the workout and she adjusted accordingly. She is flexible with my schedule when needed. She is obviously very experienced and I trust her expertise. I highly recommend her.
I knew I needed to do something different, but couldnt pull it off. It wasnt just something I thought would be good for me - I really needed to make some changes. Before I started at Underground Fitness I was having some health problems, swelling in ankles, first time ever cholesteral levels were off, couldnt get weight off. I was continually frustrated as I have always considered myself to be in pretty good shape, and have always eaten pretty well. I had also been out of the gym for over a year like everyone else because of COVID and missed feeling strong and energized. I kept glancing over at Underground Fitness when I would drive or walk by their bulding wondering if someone in there could help me out. Finally one day I decided to go in and ask what they were all about.Underground Fitness was the life change I didnt know I could make. Working with Ron on shifting how I eat, schedule my life, and prioritizing my health before other aspects of my life has made all the difference. And then add in completely personalized workouts with Matt in a safe and clean environment. I have had some injuries along the way they both have gone above and beyond to make sure I have the support I need to reach my goals and then some.Staying on target with water, protein intake, sleep, and healthier portions of food has resulted in steady weight loss and more energy. I have lost almost twenty pounds in the last three months (and am still losing) - a steady decrease despite not being in the gym for a good chunk of that. My cholesteral, glucose, and other vitals are all in line again. No more swelling in my legs. I find that I think about food differently and the way that I am eating is not a stretch - I still love to cook and am able to make pretty much any kind of food that I feel like eating. I am walking more and moving more during the day - I feel better. I am learning how to work out and strengthen myself without triggering old injuries (wasnt able to do that with my workouts before). All of the changes I have made are a way of living that works and that I can sustain.The bottom line is I feel better. The payoff of investing in myself and my health has been growth in my mental, physical, and emotional health far beyond what I hoped for when I first walked in their door. They care, they listen, they have worked with me through all my injuries - they have helped me change the way I live my life.Cant thank them enough.
Ive been a client of Underground Fitness for the past several months, and they are without a doubt one of the best fitness and personal training companies in Arizona.Everything from the Nutrition Counseling, to the workout regimens and goals they set are top-tier, and the coaches are effective, and a pleasure to work with while meeting the goals that you have set. They take the time to explain what you are doing, and why, and are extremely attentive to help you with form, and ensure that you get a great workout that helps you meet your goals.Not only do they build custom workouts to help you meet your goals, but they also take the time to show you how to do them, and tell you why and the benefits. They show you how to properly exercise and plan your nutrition so that you can exceed your goals and be extremely fit.Throughout my time, I have put on a significant amount of muscle, and identified issues in my form that allowed my overall health to improve immensely. I used to have a lot of neck and low back pain from a car crash in 1979. For more than 30 years I tried a multitude of treatment and exercise programs with limited success. I started working with the trainers at Underground Fitness in 2015, and within six months realized my pain was dramatically reduced, and that has continued to improve ever since. So, less pain, more strength and balance, and look better -- a pretty good return on the investment!
When I first came, I was overweight with no motivation... It was hard but they kept motivatimg me. Ron gave me excellent meal planning advice and set me up with a plan that works best with my schedule. Kelsey is awesome and pushes me in a good way when I have no strength and want to stop. I am now showing up to all my appointments and days when Im not there I walk my animals and am living a healthier lifestyle. Thanks underground especially Ron and Kelsey!!
I have been going for 3 years. It has been one of best decisions I ever made. I am now 72 and wanted better muscle tone. I have arthritis and really struggled with my knees. They have been great at designing safe and effective ways to make sure I have a good workout. This last year I had both knees replaced and sailed thru both surgeries and rehab afterwards. I have some seriously strong leg muscles thanks to Ron. It made a huge difference. If you just want a gym, this is not a good fit. If you want individual attention and appropriate correction this is your place. It is spotless and a really safe place to work out.
I joined Underground Fitness in the beginning of October 2020 to lose weight and get toned again. My trainer has been Kelsey and Ron has provided me with weekly nutritional guidance. I started the program at 221 pounds. After two months of working with them, Im done to 201 pounds. The exercises are challenging, but not overwhelming. Kelsey has done a fantastic job of constantly changing my exercise routine; I new do the same sets of exercises day-to-day. Im amazed how fast my one hour sessions go. Kelsey keeps me engaged during it session that, before I know it, the hour is up. Ron has done a remarkable job of guiding my nutritional habits. Ive been so pleased with them that I signed up for another two months to keep my momentum going.When I first started, Ron spent a good hour with me discussing my fitness goals, medical history, and past workout history. From there he was able to extrapolate a general outline that Kelsey has used to create my daily workout routines.As theyre told me, it took a long time to gain the weight, and so it takes time to lose the weight. Ive pretty much averaged loosing two to three pounds each week. I highly recommend Underground Fitness to anyone who are serious about their health and wanting to achieve their fitness goals.
This place is amazing and very accommodating to my hectic work schedule. I was really struggling with motivation to workout, especially when covid first hit last year but the trainers took the time to listen and understood what I wanted and worked with me to help me achieve my goals.
I am 59 years old and needed to get back in shape. Just a few years ago, I completed the Summit to Summit challenge in Phoenix. When I started with Underground Fitness in November, 2020, I dont think I could have climbed one hill, let alone a mountain.I have used trainers in the past. But it had been a few years. I have not been able to create my own workout plans or truly stay on my diet. I wasnt able to workout and be accountable for myself, by myself.As a result, because I watched my calorie intake, my weight had remained about the same for the past several years. But any muscle gains I had with my prior workouts and training had long since been lost. My weight was the same, but the lost muscle weight had been replaced by huge fat gains from a sedentary lifestyle. My waist continued to grow. 7 years ago, my BMI was about 13%. When I started with Underground Fitness in November, 2020, it was over 30%.I needed to change. I needed to find someone that could create the necessary workout and diet plans. I needed someone to hold me accountable.I have used trainers in the past, but my current schedule would not allow for me to go to their facility 3 times a week. I needed a workout and diet plan that would be workable within my schedule. I was fortunate to find Underground Fitness. With the help of my trainer, Shane, the changes I have made the past 12 weeks have been amazing.Shane got my diet on track... really easy with a readily available app on my phone and just staying on it. Shane then created a workout that works with my schedule. I do resistance training 3 days a week for no more than 40 minutes. Two of the sessions are at home with the equipment I have available combined with bodyweight exercises. The 3rd session is every Saturday at their facility.With those Saturday workouts, Shane goes through what worked and didnt work for the week, and we plan the following week.I just completed my 16th week. Where most people are concerned with weight loss, that was never my goal. I knew if I ate correctly and worked out, I would put on muscle. I knew that in putting on muscle, my metabolism would increase and the fat would bleed off. What I didnt expect were the crazy changes in my body shape.At 59, I was not expecting to bulk up. But I am getting defined musculature. In 12 weeks, I only lost 7 pounds. But, I also lost almost 3 inches in my waist and have had to alter or buy clothes. My current waist is what I had in high school.I am no longer fatigued during a workout. I dont get the afternoon blues. Working out is hard, but fun again. And, although my body doesnt recover like it did 20, or even 10 years ago, we have continued to adjust my workouts to work around any problems or issues that have come up.Underground Fitness developed the workout and diet plan that I needed. My trainer has worked with me to identify personal goals and develop a plan to get there. And, with my weekly accountability session, I am hitting those goals.There may be other trainers or facilities out there, but I can vouch for Underground Fitness. They have exceeded my expectations.
After many years of trying to find something that would not only fit with my schedule but also my goals I stumbled upon this place. If you are looking for something different then a normal gym with out the GYM personalities then this is your place. I met with Ron to go over my goals and needs and what they are able to offer and he was great, I was assigned to Dan so be my coach and have had a great time both learning new things as well as appreciate the support needed to not dread going to an appointment. I am not one to write reviews on places, they either keep my business or lose it. I have to say that I am so far very happy with the team.

I have been training with Aaron for a little over a month now. I had knee surgery earlier this year and he has been incredible working with that. I look forward to every training session and appreciate his dedication to getting me closer to my goals!
These guys are great! The trainers all know you on a first name basis and work with you towards whatever goals you have. They are always willing to help you modify exercises if needed. I have been going to Underground for about two years and they still keep exercising interesting by switching things up all the time. Braden is a wonderful trainer and very knowledgeable. All of the trainers are happy to answer my specific questions and are attentive to my needs. Great place to work out!

This place is awesome! Shout out to Chris for taking a lot of time to evaluate my strengths and weaknesses and develop a plan for me to meet my goals. I am not a fan of big gyms and that is why I love Underground Fitness. This is a very comfortable place to work out and not feel the least bit intimidated and get the one-on-one attention to get me on track.
I could not be happier being a member here. Camille is my trainer and she is awesome. I’ve met most of the other trainers and the owner and they are all the coolest people. It’s a really fun environment and my favorite thing is how it never feels crowded. I also love how they don’t just tell you what to do and move on but they explain to you what and why you are doing that particular work out. It is very encouraging. I never thought that I would look forward to going to the gym so much.
Ive been a client of this gym since January 2015 and I have to share how supportive, knowledgeable, and encouraging this place really is! Im not athletic by any stretch of the imagination, but my trainer, Ron Edwards, pushes me just the right amount outside my comfort zone so that Im continually challenged, but never discouraged. On top of his great guidance, the entire team is friendly - they really do get to know you by name. My sessions are semi-private (there are several other clients working at the same time), and Ron makes sure he gives everyone just the right amount of one-on-one time without hovering or getting in the way. The group Im with and even clients outside the group make this a fun place to workout (I never would have thought Id say fun and workout in the same sentence!). Highly recommended!
I have been working out here with Camille for going on 5 months now and its been the best gym Ive been to. I couldnt ask for anyone better than Camille. The trainers here truly care about you and push you to be the best that you can be. They have changed my life and it only keeps on getting better. If you want to change your life for the better and are willing to push yourself this is the best place to go. Personally I have made great strides in the short time Ive been here and I cant wait to see even more progress!
I have been working with the team at Underground since November 2017 and from the first consultation, with Scott, I knew Underground was going to be different than any other gym I have been to. A lot of gyms make the claim of offering the true support, nutrition and mentoring, that is needed to reach your goals but they all have come up short for me. 5 months, with this awesome team, and I have lost 12 lbs, 5 percent body fat, and several inches. They have helped me truly understand how to fuel my body to get the best results. I could not be happier!Now to the best trainer there is…Camille. All the trainers here are great but Camille is just amazing. She has taken the time to really understand my goals and push me to reach them. She doesnt take it easy on me and I love that. I train with her a couple of times a week and then she has a really great booty kicking boot camp on Saturdays. Aside from the great training shes also just a really great person. Shes got such a great heart and she cares about all of her clients. Its not uncommon for me to get texts from her in the middle of the day telling me she is proud of me or sending me information about how to better hit my macros.If you are looking for a gym that cares about their clients Underground is for you. Come to a Saturday boot camp and check it out! Youll see why they have the rating they do.
Would give this place 10 stars if I could! Training at this gym has been a great experience- very educational, motivational, and challenging. The trainers are all amazing: Scott, Ron, Lance, Larone. I have been out of the gym for some time and was nervous to start back again, however, the trainers made it a smooth transition by customizing the diet and workouts to meet my schedule and individual needs so that it was do-able yet challenging and results producing. You can tell the trainers care and love what they do. A lot of their clients have been going for years and consist of all ranges of ages, fitness levels, and abilities which makes it a comfortable and encouraging place to work out. Best gym I have ever been too! I cannot recommend it enough.
This gym is AWESOME! The staff is amazing, especially Ronald! He is the best at what he does and is able to find creative ways to work every part of your body and make it fun (until the next day ha ha). He also has some great advice to give to make eating healthy a lot easier and enjoyable. I highly recommend working with him and the other trainers at Underground!
Great gym and great trainers! The group classes are motivating and the trainers keep them challenging and interesting. Ron, Jake, Joey, Danielle, and Braden are all very knowledgeable and able to suggest modifications as needed. I especially like trainer Bradens style, he seems to have an endless number of exercise variations and keeps everyone motivated and smiling throughout the workout! Highly recommend for those looking to get away from the huge gyms and go someplace where the staff are friendly and knowledgeable.

I bought a Groupon last November because I wasnt sure if would like it, but I loved it and have been a client for 9 months. Danielle is a great trainer and very motivating and knowledgeable. I work out in the semi-private training sessions, but still get dedicated attention and support. Not only have I seen an improvement in strength and endurance, but I actually enjoy working out now.The whole staff is kind and motivating, the other clients are supportive and nice and the facilities are super clean.
Trainers are all great at underground! They know exactly what they are doing and the best way to do it. The experience is unlike any other. Because of my trainer Ronny I was able to bulk up and achieve the goals I had set for myself.
If you are looking for truly personal training, this is the place to go. This isnt a regular gym where they do personal training on the side - personal training is all they do - and they do it well. My trainer works with me to achieve my personal goals and keeps an eye out for form and flexibility issues. Great environment - clean, friendly, and professional.

Ive been a client of Underground Fitness for nearly two years and its an integral part of my fitness plans. With Ron Ive met goals and set more aggressive ones. Hes helped me accomplish more than I thought I was ever capable of...and he makes it as fun as it can be (running up a mountain in a 50lb vest will never be fun fun).

Ive been going here for almost 2 years and love it. The trainers are the best and always have new and fun fitness classes. I broke my foot about a year ago and they have been wonderful working through the injury. I worked out the entire time I was in a boot - they modified all the exercises and brought weights to me! Come join us for the 5:30 am class.

Very friendly and experienced staff, and they put passion into their work to create realistic goals and meet them. If you live in the Sunnyslope area I highly recommend you to try this gym, tell them David sent you.I particularly joined the self-defense class directed by Scott Carpenter, I was an experience boxer in my youth and I can honestly say this is definitely worth the experience. You can get a great work out with the hand to hand combat as well as an adrenaline rush with real life scenario sparring.

I started working out at Underground last summer with a groupon. I loved the trainers and the atmosphere so much, when my groupon expired, I signed on. I was assigned to Joey and he is awesome! I need supervision and I need to be held accountable, otherwise I wont work out. Underground is great at that, and I really love how they always make sure you are eating right and give you nutrition tips. At one point, after an event put me financially behind, I tried to quit. The manager, Ron, let me know how great my progress was and worked out something that fit my budget until I could catch back up. It really made me feel valued. Ive never worked out consistently this long -- its been over a year! I work out at least 3 times a week. My coworkers comment on how fit and toned I look, and Im stronger than Ive ever been. At 37, my metabolism isnt what it used to be, so Im so glad I found Underground Fitness. Also, I have significantly lowered my cholesterol without taking medication and I KNOW its because of the healthy habits Ive gained through my program. Thank you, Underground Fitness!

When I first started looking for a place to workout I came across underground fitness. I definitely was struggling with body issues, mentally and physically. I have tried commercial gyms and to me they are very intimidating. So when I found this place, I was very excited to see what it was about. This place definitely gives you step by step on what to do. From what to eat, workouts, and a coach that helps you figure everything out. Its been a great experience so far and I cant wait to continue to see progression in myself.
