We did swimming classes here. The instructor Emily was sweet. We liked her. Her coworkers not so much. Especially the blondel young lady, she was snobby. Our first class the whole crew was about 10-15 minutes late. The class still ended at the time it was scheduled to end, so we got a 15 minute class instead of 30.The training is all over the place, we had classes from the city of Phoenix and the YMCA classes do not compare to what we learned in the city.
Pay for services you wont be able to use freely. Thanks but no thanks gonna take my business elsewhere.
I did kids soccer here a few years ago. I loved it and the coach was very fun.
Full service fitness center & day/after school services which are VERY kid friendly.
Great, upgraded facilities. Plenty of equipment. Friendly and helpful staff. Father-in-law has gone here since the late 80s (mostly for the pool) and only has good things to say about this Y. Always have had good experiences here with the weights and basketball court. Great space for ping-pong, as well. Recommend this place as your next gym.
The staff was extremely disrespectful and rude and not understanding
Staff is exceptional! As a new client, I was acknowledged, and oriented immediately and guided to next steps in getting started. The coordination and personalized communication over the first few weeks was refreshing! This included application for scholarship, setting up payments, welcome e-mails, scheduling a personal trainer, orientation of the facility and a exercise routine specific to my needs. I felt comfortable and welcome right away! Thank you Christown YMCA!
The staff is always friendly and very helpful. My kids love going to the kids club, since the staff have taken the time to learn their name and interact with them.
A welcoming environment from the staff to the members. Having been to other YMCA locations, Christown has the best atmosphere by far in comparison. The facility itself has many things to offer to members and still extends some things to nonmembers. It is worth the investment for my family and myself. I recommend this location to all my friends and family.
You can go ahead and ignore the family friendly stuff, protect your kids and make sure strangers aren’t let in.The check in process to pick up a child is terrible. I went to pick up my little brother for the first time theyve never seen me, they let me in the back where the children where without checking Id. They checked before I left which isnt good and its terrible and doesnt make me feel like my little brother or any other child safe there. Something should be done and some calls will be made.I advise anyone and everyone to call and bring up this issue if you care about your own children or someone else’s child...it’s not right.
A joke!!! The basketball coah quit halfway through and no refunds no neew coach to replace the one that quit 😡😡 kids were on their own!! do not bring tour kids here they dont care
The staff here remembered me after one day! They are so friendly, its so clean and it has plenty of machines so I never have to wait. Ive been part of the Y for over ten years and this by far takes top 5!
Dont volunteer here. When I was here they leave you with no direction and no supervision. It would be great but its not. If something happened or came up missing I would have no way of protecting myself. You are constantly just roaming around aimlessly and bored. And it just drags on and on. It costs money for a background check and you kind of feel stuck always doing your community service with them because uh you paid to do community service. The staff are very short with you and snobby and I just couldnt take it. Correction the female staff I didnt have an issue with the male staffers upfront. I feel uncomfortable going into the office. I didnt have a volunteer shirt. It was just all kinds of bad and uncomfortable. I wanted to feel as if I was doing something for my community and instead I felt like wasted space and questioned why I was even there. Dont volunteer here unless you get to work directly with staff or with kids. Any other position you are just wasted space and useless.
Worst place ever! My 3 year old son was in the child care center and one of the workers ripped out his tooth from the root. Even though his father was less than 25 feet away no one came to get him for over an hour. The worker who ripped his tooth out is mentally slow and all she could say was my son bit her and that his tooth just fell out. the young lady in there who could not have been older than 20 years old was supposedly supervising but she could only say she didnt see what happen. She did however add that the mentally slow lady should not apologize because my son bit her. My son is 3 the last time I checked ripping out a childs tooth is unacceptable. The rest of the staff seemed to be most concerned with covering up the incident rather than getting any answers. This place is dangerous! Dangerous for you and your children! Its not cheap either so you might as well get a gym membership and a locations where child safety matters! These people are saying to their workers abusing a child is ok as long as you dont get caught!
I got a membership back on June. Want ed to bring my children to swim. Bad and dirty swimming pool. It was really crowded if he wanted to do anything. Short staff, and there are a couple snobby. With attitudes. Not only that but I’m getting charged for a whole month even though I’m canceling. I was not aware that I needed to give a 30 day noticed. So yup I’m going to be charged for the month of September. That might be my fault due to not informing myself but still don’t find it fair that money will be taken away if the membership won’t be used at all.
This is a great place for all adults of all ages. Im old and this place is great. The smell can be unpleasant at times but other than that its perfect.
I went up to the YMCA an hour early on December 17th to ensure my children would be able to receive a free picture with Santa and was glad to find we were the first in line. When Santa came they took our email address down and a description of our kids and said the picture will be sent via email. I didnt have a problem with that the problem occurred when I called on Monday the following week and was told that they wouldnt be available until at least after Wednesday now being respectful of the holiday nearing I waited until today to call again only to be told I wont receive it for another week its already after Christmas.im so upset this tells me how they treat there customers
I love this place. Amazing staff, gym equipment, group classes and newly renovated inside basketball court.
Love the staff and facilities are always clean but has ONE major problem, cell phone use while others are waiting for equipment! They take up a particular bench or machine and just sit on it using cell phone . Some use machines to sit and watch sports on the TVs and do not even use machine! Signs at entrance stating No Cell Phones but every person in there is using their cell....... gets exstreamly aggravating when you need the bench for a certain workout and cant because they are to busy texting.... time for another gym maybe!
Why 4/5 stars your place looks really funny and so cool
The guy Chris at the front desk was so rude he obviously didnt know what he was talking about my child goes there for summer camp and we were literally 10 minutes late for drop off he couldnt even relay a message to the summer counsellors for me but kept saying I can give you their numbers and he didnt have the switch key to reach them which was a lie then he all of a sudden switched and he kept hanging up on me this guy needs to be trained or work in another department not helping with visitors or members of the Y
I was need of childcare and the Ymca had a winter day camp. I asked my kid at the end of the day how he liked it and he was exstatic. He stated they had play time and study time. He couldnt wait to be back next week.
The back to school supply event was horrible. The lack of communication was rampid. After staring in line for hair cuts for 15 minutes I was told they were out of time. And then they followed me and said they could do 1 of my kids.😕 at the pool I asked if the the parent had to be in the pool with the kids ( Im 25 weeks pregnant and dont have a swim suit) and they told me that today was an exception! Well, after all the kids changed we were told, nope, sorry that event is over now! So now all the kids were crying. To set things straight I told Eneas ( the manager) and she informed me that after noon parents had to be in the pool... Which didnt solve our problem at all. She then turned and said, all I can say is Im sorry, and put her hands up! That isnt good customer services. The people who made mistakes aught yo be made aware so another family isnt discouraged from these events. The event didnt have a boy Dr house or face painting as advertised! Today was a waste of my time. I realized that I lost my phone so we asked the same manager if could look in the list and found. she stated that she wasnt given a phone. And walked away. So for 20 minutes of my kids running around the y..m.c.a. A desk aid took the effort and looked on the lost and found- and the found my phone.
Work out here everyday. Its a good gym and they dont mind me being loud. Better than any other spot around by a mile.
Very friendly and helpful staff. We will be back
Clean, quiet & multiple flat screen TV (news, sports etc...)
Excellent pool. And Charley is the best swim teacher ever. Thanks Charley!
Amazing fitness center in heart of central Phoenix! Friendly, helpful staff and great programs.
I started a family membership here with the hopes that my 2 year old would enjoy the childcare portion. The first visit he seemed ok, but was so happy to see me when I picked him up. The 2nd time, while in the parking lot he kept crying saying no. I brought him in anyways. It was a different employee this time. I went to sneak a peak at him inbetween workouts and I saw him sitting on the bench crying. So, I went in. When he saw me, he ran so fast to me and tried to climb up my leg to get into my arms. He was inconsolable. So, the next time we went, I waited until my 8 year old was out of school so she could go with him. Same thing, cried in the parking lot and the staff came to get me after about 30 minutes. Again, it was a different employee. Now, all three employees seemed nice and I never took this up with management, so they are unaware of the situation. My son is not clingy and does not have attachment issues. I will be cancelling my membership. I am unsure of why my son is so terrified to go, but it makes me nervous as a parent.
It’s cool or whatever 👍🏼
Good ..excelent place i love it..☺
I have been goin to the christown ymca for over a 3 yrs now, I like the improvements to the fitness area and the staff is always pleasant. I also like the way the trainers handle the senior citizen community there.
I have been a member of YMCA Chris-Town since May 2012. The facility is good and some classes are well done. The child care workers are nice. However, I had a terrible experience with the Zumba program as a participant and as a volunteer. In September 2012 Zumba classes just stopped happening without any cancelation. The room was full of people without anyone to teach in 90% of the scheduled Zumba classes. Usually we would stay, wait, and go home. That continued for more than a month. My choice was either to leave the YMCA or to help. I offered to volunteer because I love Zumba. I obtained all of the required certificates - Zumba, Foundations of Group Exercise, CPR, and First Aid by November 9. It was not easy or cheap. While going thru the process I found out that some Zumba volunteers at Chris-Town YMCA didnt have to have all that was required of me. This was very confusing. Moreover, multiple times I was told that I would not have to pay for the membership when I would start to volunteer. It all changed when I started to volunteer - I was than told that I would have to volunteer for 6 months before I would receive that benefit.Communication was poor, responses rude, the information they gave contradicted itself and constantly changed, appointments or classes were canceled without notification, requests were not heard. After talking with the executive director it was said to me that the things we can do is only to apologize. I choose not to volunteer at that facility any longer, or to participate in their Zumba program. I want to see real changes in the way the Group Exercise Coordinator handles the Zumba exercise program at the Chris-Town YMCA.
Good facility, reasonably priced with a lot of classes to choose from.
Great Family Place! Not busy 12-4 pm.
You know youre in the ghetto when reviews about YMCA is like this lol . U ghetto ppl grow up . Its a family gym leave your dirty ass at home
If I could do negative stars I would. Too many rules. People are rude. Worst place too go
