We just moved and our little 12 yr old dog was in such a hurry, she didnt make the corner and went sliding across the floor into the wall.I freaked out thinking shed dislocated, sprained or broken something and so I started getting ready to take her to 1st Pet.Ive called them twice today already (a Sunday) and I think shes okay now. But, I had to write and say that 1st Pet is wonderful. They answered the phone right away, and didnt act as if theyre busy- although Im sure they are + the two ladies I spoke to were so kind.Thank you.
1st Pet made sure Penny was comfortable, before they were able to get to her. I took her in 5pm on a Thursday, we had to wait over 6 hours before she could get sutures done. You do have the option to drop your pet off, I didnt do that though.I understand there were a couple critical patients that took priority over my dog. But everyone that we encountered was pleasant and seemed to really care about my Penny. I would recommend to anyone that has a pet emergency.
I have been taking my dog to this vets office for years and the staff has always gone above and beyond to make sure my dog feels safe and theyve consistently provided excellent care. They also go out of their way to ensure I can afford her visits because of my financial issues, they never overcharge. I would highly recommend this office to anyone who loves their pet and only wants the best for them. I had horrible experiences with other vets offices prior to finding this one, and I will not take my dog to any other clinic ever since.
My vet’s office highly recommended this place when I called them about the condition of my puppy. I called them and the lady on the phone was very nice I believe it was Nancy. She explained if he wasn’t a level one emergency the he would have to wait 5-6 hours to be seen and since that was a long time to wait I could drop him off. I said okay great I will be there in 15-20 mins. I pack up the dog and drive there. When I walk in I was greeted by Nancy and she was nice and was like unfortunately in the 15 mins it took for me to get there they no longer take my puppy because he wasn’t a level one emergency, and I had a few options. I was like okay you guys had my phone number I wish that you would have called me. This lady with her back to me behind (with greasy long blonde hair) the counter butts In before I could hear my options and says “ we don’t call people, some of them don’t show up” I said “so the people who show up to give you their business should be punished for that?” She said yep. Like I understand my dog can stand and breathe but he has some serious issues right now and this lady just dismissed me like nothing and didn’t even look at him and his condition Im sure the vets there are good at what they do but having this experience, I’d rather pay double to get him healthy and be treated better.
Our 7 month old Boxer puppy gave us a real scare by swelling up very quickly after getting stung by something outside. Our vet was closed at the time. As soon as I called they were very friendly and knowledgeable. We brought her in and they treated her quickly. The front desk staff were very quick and friendly. The vet and vet tech were so good with our puppy- she came from the back after being with them very happy. We are grateful they were able to tend to our puppy so quickly. Pricing is very responsible for an emergency vet. I would highly recommend this location to anyone needing emergency care for their pets.
Its never easy accepting news of your family pets diagnosis. The staff was very friendly. Dr. K was very helpful when going over our kittys situation. I love how she asked us to let him eat his favorite foods and to prepare ourselves :(Dr Kung was very professional and sat down with my Daughter and I to explain everything.
I cant say enough about how wonderful the staff and doctors were here. I had a dog emergency at 10pm on Sunday night, called them on a recommendation from a friend. I am disabled and can not drive and am brand new to the area so I had no idea where to go. That question has been answered for all future vet visits. Compassionate, understanding, friendly, attentive from the front desk to the techs to the docs, it was so nice to be treated as a friend and not a masked number and made to sit in parking lot for hours while my baby had to have surgery. They brought me snacks, drinks, checked on how I was doing several times, kept me updated on my babys progress and did the same wonderful service for the follow up 2 weeks later.
Words cannot express the care given to our pup Kingsley by the staff at 1st Pet. They knew his previous condition well and were able to flex quickly to support in making his visit quick and as painless as possible. We are truly so lucky to have found this location and words cannot express how wonderful the entire staff are every time we bring our dogs in.Thank you for everything your team does, and thank you for making our vet experience truly the best we have ever had every single time. Our only regret is that we hadnt been using your team sooner.
Word cant compare how thankful we are with them they did the best they could for our dogThank you so muchToby is know pain free 🙏🌈🐺
Went to a different vet first (read my 1 star review for VetMed). We came here and they did their best to help our dog Koga. They were very committed to helping him, they used every opportunity to avoid charging us if they could: for instance, we had to bring him back as his condition worsened and they didn’t charge us the return fee even though it was over 24 hrs. They also used our prior credits for the first abdominal x rays we paid for to cover later chest X-rays. Our boy didn’t make it and the staff there was really great about it. They showed the upmost respect and dignity to us and our pup. They were upfront with what they could and couldn’t do and advised us in a caring but responsible way. If our other dog has any health issues, we will definitely be bringing him there. Thank you all for being so caring and trying to save our sweet boy.
It was amazing. Always is. Gore isnt my pet. He is my friend. I dont want to take him to a place that treats him any different. Everyone is incredibly helpful and friendly. The girl at the counter offered to hold him while I got situated. The tech made me feel like I had all the time needed to explain and explore issues. They never made me feel silly for being dramatic about little symptoms. The doctor was too notch. Very profession but with the bedside manner you would want for your human family. Honest and gentle reports about my friends health. Overall and most important, the entire staff seemed excited to see Gore as if he is a VIP guest. Now, that would all be great for a single experience but this happens everytime. It is a little more expensive. You do have to wait a little longer. Its well worth it. Everytime. Homegrown, local neighborhood feels with the resources of any major hospital.
We drove and hour one way the first time when our dog needed emergency care and from that time on this is the only veterinary hospital we will bring him to. The doctors some of the best Ive every seen and everyone treats your dog like they are theirs. I dont know where we would be with our older Shepard if we couldnt bring him here. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!
We had another really great experience here. Our little girl was hospitalized for 3 nights and the communication was great. I appreciated Dr. Otto the most. Her extra mile kindness during such a hard time, was so wonderful and so appreciated! Thanks to this awesome team, our Trixie has a strong fighting chance for survival. We have 3 dogs, so needless to say; we have been to 1stPet many times over the years for emergencies. While I agree the wait times can be long, (it’s not like they can control how many people show up one time, so I think we all need to have a little more grace in our instant gratification lives) we’ve never had anything but great service here. I would highly recommend this team. Plus they were totally open with the billing as my bill ended up being less than quoted, so I was offered a refund upon picking Trixie up. That’s great customer service.
Everyone is SO nice and helpful. I was all stressed of course bringing my puppy in and they made the experience as easy as possible. I appreciate the kindness and compassion from everyone we met at this facility, as well as the doctor (Dr. W I think!). Thank you for making my day better!
I wish I could give this place no stars.I came in with a tiny stray dog that I found left on the side of the road. He was super sick with heat exhaustion, could not see, and walked around in circles. He had super red eyes and his skin was all red as well. Not only that, but having him around made myself, my boyfriend, and my roommates incredibly sick. That dog definitely had some sort of illness. They told me they could not help him as, he was not sick. It was obvious to any bystander that that dog was not well.I had called all local shelters and unfortunately none of them were open due to it being labor day, and so finally the humane society suggested I bring him here. When I told the nurse that I couldnt take him back home because I have a dog myself that Im worried about catching something, she made it clear that that was none of her concern.Super unhelpful and have odd standards for what a sick dog is.
You are a bright star in the life of not only a very old dog but also a great relief for a just as old mom. My dog is my world and with your help in caring for her, in her time of need, you and your people you employ are now a part of my family, Thank You so very much.Sincerely,C Macias
I wish we could give negative stars as review. Our baby girl Lisa dislocated her shoulder after running into the couch. We called and told them what happened and said wed be coming in. My boyfriend took her in and they did NOTHING! They gave her a shot and told us it was $1200 for a bunch of unnecessary procedures. We asked for a payment plan and was met with a list of other vet hospitals to go to instead. THEY DO MOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR DOG. THEYRE ONLY CONCERN IS MONEY. TERRIBLE PLACE. Please dont take your dog there.
I brought my dog in for medication overdose.OK my fault I called the poison and control first. I brought my dog in and they said 5 hour wait. How can you call that an emergency vet visit and then charge astronomical of amount of money.EMERGENCY???. Maybe you need to have 2 vets there .Dont ever bring your pet there for an EMERGENCY
Vets did their job it was a lengthy wait but I did go on a Saturday so I wasn’t surprised by that. However I was surprised when they not once but twice quoted me a different amount over the phone. Since the first time was just an estimate I was okay with it but the second time I tried to ask why it was different and instead of letting me ask the front desk receptionist told me very rudely that “I signed for up to quoted X amount and that the amount owed is still within that range.” Would not let me even ask my question as I was still going to pay. The vet actually let me know she misquoted me and apologized. The front desk person should NOT be dealing with people if she just assumes the worst in people from the get go.
Say they help sick and injured strays. Took one today that I found lying in the grass dying. Dragged its feet when it tried to walk. So skinny bones stuck out all over the place. Clearly starving. They listed to the heart beat and looked at the teeth before they deemed it not sick or injured enough to help. I’ll be surprised if it makes it through the night. Some humans really suck.
Dr Hatcher is the absolute best. She is kind andcompassionate and listens very well. The front deskchecked on us while we were waiting and made sureMy animal and me had access to water. 1st PetDoesn’t just say they strive to improve- THEYACTIVELY WORK TO IMPROVE.
We came in with our diabetic American Bulldog and she was having symptoms that we had never witnessed/experienced and were frightened that something was really wrong with her. From the moment we set foot inside the clinic (beautiful place and impeccably clean/maintained) the receptionist greeted us, ushered us to an examination room, where a technician quickly and professionally inquired and got us settled in until the vet could see us.A very short time after, an incredibly kind and caring vet came in and really took time to get all of the information he could to try and figure out what was happening with our little girl. He explained all the possibilities of what could be wrong and provided his opinions. Due to his experience and knowledge, he made us aware that her insulin could be too much/too little and her sugars may be too high/low. By the end of the examination, we felt MUCH more at ease and felt that it would be okay to take her back home safely. We followed up with our normal vet the next morning and he was absolutely correct -- her sugars were too high and it is what was causing the issues with her.I cannot explain to you how much we value and thank you for your attentiveness, level of care, and professionalism. From the moment that sliding-glass door opened until the time it closed behind us, we knew we would get the best treatment, care, and attention to get our little girl back on her feet, and you did not fail.Thank you all so much -- it is frightening when your little fur baby is sick because they cant tell you whats wrong, but thankfully I know that whenever something is wrong and I need help right away, I can depend on your clinic and staff to put my mind at ease, and that, to me, is priceless. Thank you all, again -- youre the absolute best!!!~WJG~
I needed an emergency vet visit due to my dog getting bite by another dog; they were the only ones that were available to take my dog in, but advise of the wait which I appreciated. I am glad I took my pet here, they took care of my furbaby. The office was nice and clean, the waiting rooms were big and they also bring you a little basket of snacks/drinks for your wait. This was much appreciated. I would def come back for any emergencies.
I had to take my dog in one night when he was sick. The team was very attentive and listened to all my concerns. They took amazing care of my dog on his worst day.
Today my sister made the tough decision to send her beloved Tito to eternal rest. After 15 loyal years, many seizures and congestive heart failure, it was time. We called many vet clinics only to be told they werent accepting new patients, or no appts available until next week or the fee was way too high. 1st Pet Vet was the only place that said come on over whenever youre ready. The clinic is bright, clean and comfortable. All the staff, were so considerate and caring. They made sure we had plenty of time with Tito to say goodbye. He passed away calm and comfortable in my sisters arms.
I was really blown away by the experience here. I normally go to BluePearl and this place will be my new go to for emergency vets. They have a beautiful facility and let us wait in a quiet room as my dog is very anxious. They provided us free snacks and water which I have never experienced anywhere like a vet and made them stand out while I waited there most of the night. The doctor was professional and she didn’t try to pressure us on anything.
The staff is friendly. You do have to wait a lot. And lengthy time visits. They are thoughtful and thorough with your pet. I would just like up front pricing. They Nickle and dime you.Visit one, charge to examine lumpVisit two, charge to send to labVisit three, surgeryVisit four, wrap bandage cause wrapped poorlyVisit five, charged for wrapVisit six, removal of stitches. Not finished yet so update on total for removing one mass on leg. Still have more doctor visits. So they quote you like 500-1500 for surgery. But fail to mention your pet needs to come in a bunch more and we are gonna charge you 150 each time.Techs and vets do their jobs well. They pricing is lame. So when I hear vets at other locations charge 1500 at least theyre up front. 1st vet will be more but spread out.Either way, thank you staff for everything you do.
They are amazing my dog is a giant baby about everything and they took extra time with him to make him more comfortable
Doctors and staff were quick, knowledgeable and very caring when my Wheaten was bitten by a rattlesnake.
I love my dog more than anything, so taking her to the emergency vet for unexplainable pain was extremely distressing and upsetting. There was a long wait, but we were able to be seen 2 hours sooner than the estimate given. The clinic staff and vet were very kind and professional. They were able to pinpoint the issue and provide a treatment plan and meds. It was a really long, hard day for our family, but I am very grateful for the care we were given at 1st Pet.
There are not enough stars for this place. Everything about them is professional, caring and loving. We originally came and they had a long wait and were open about that and told us our dog should be seen sooner than they could see him so they gave us some names of other places. We chose one and went and it was Animal Medical and Surgical Center- they didnt have a wait so we went...and after being seen there we could tell why- we were just a dollar sign to them. So the next day when our dog had to go back again we came back to 1st Pet and decided to wait and are so glad we did. Night and day difference in care and compassion. Everyone at 1st Paw was great, down to even bringing us water and snacks while we waited. We ended up having to put our dog down and we couldnt have had a nicer experience considering what was happening. Dr. April Kung was truly a lifesaver and we couldnt be more gratful for her advice and expertise during a horrific time. We would 1000% recommend this office. Thank you guys from the bottom of our hearts.
They care for your pet as much as you do. It really shows in the quality of service. All the staff are wonderful!!
Was told after my dog got his xrays that the Dr would be in shortly with the results. Took longer than shortly which had my anxiety going but when Dr came in she calmed it down and looks like everything might be okay. I hope. Their complimentary food basket is super handy for while waiting, we came in right before dinner and were starving they helped a lot in that regard.
The doctor that treated my dog and called me directly was excellent. She had a great demeanor, took her time to be clear about my pets diagnosis and treatment. She was very clear about next steps and answered all my questions. I felt really listened to, and she demonstrated care and professionalism.Something to work on... after taking my pet for initial vitals and examination it would have been so much more helpful for someone to explain her vitals, or what was happening. After the tech took her, the next person I interacted with asked for payment and was saying goodbye without explanation that my dog was assumed to be staying there and no report of her initial vitals. (Temp, blood pressure, etc) No one was explaining wait time, next steps or a process. I had to ask multiple times for clarification. It was anxiety inducing and made me uneasy to not feel fully prepped for the next stop in the process.
My poor little guy was the victim of a coyote attack in the wee morning hours. When I found him, he was in bad shape and all I wanted was to get him in the hands of professionals. At 3am, 1st Pet was the only place I could find and we headed straight there. Unfortunately, my darling little old man did not survive the attack, but the staff at 1st Pet took such amazing and compassionate care of us. During that absolutely awful time, those people made all the difference. I cant thank them enough.
Every single person there was understanding, patient, and kind. I couldnt have taken my dog to a better place. thank you all
The whole staff listened to my concern intently, I know quite a bit about the situation and they did their own evaluation and came to the same conclusion as I did. They took the task to heart whelping a very expensive litter of pups and saving a pups life that I was concerned about and honestly I expected to die. Both pups and mom are well, healthy and happy thanks to this great team. Im very impressed by Dr. Lunts abilities as a competent veterinarian and how he kindly explained the situation clearly. Thank you again, Id rate this clinic as the Absolute Best in Emergency Medicine in Arizona.
Alls been well since weve been bringing our German Shepherd in. Hes treated very well. Doctors and Staff are excellent and quite helpful. Thanks Again !
My cat Gilderoy and I had a great experience here. We came in for an emergency visit and everything was clean, professional, and affordable. The staff was very welcoming even at 3:00am when we came in, definitely recommended!
Great concept car to door service, It stopped at the door. Dropped my pet off at 2:30 in the afternoon and no call, So I called at 8 pm receptionist was bothered with the update. She read it off a script like no big deal with a drawn robot voice. I questioned what’s taking so long and they treat life threading before My pet. 11pm finally get a call, with what’s going on with your pet? I was told blood work and s rays need to happen and went into details of organs. Wait now my pets life is at risk and you waited til 11pm. To fix this is a training issue it’s not a price issue it’s the communication from the start! send a text like the one wanting payment before service. My pet is my world and this corporation needs to go back to basics. Human kindness
Unfortunately, I have have been here twice within the last two months for two separate dogs. The first time, they saved my dog’s life from anaphylactic shock (she was almost dead when we arrived). The second time was last night and I had to put my 12 year old dachshund down after hours. They were very empathetic with my emotions and even gave my Frankie a Milky Way bar before his last moments. They gave me the time I needed with him and treated him with respect. This will be my emergency vet from here in out!
First few visits were ok vet techs were helpful but within the last few visits we have received horrible service. Pushing services that the doctor said we didn’t need, vet techs that were very rude. If you are going for just routine visit then they are fine but if you have a pet that needs monthly attention I would stay away from this place. They are like the Walmart of veterinary clinics.
Our 10 year old lab declined quickly from afternoon to evening. As night came my son called and spoke to 1st Pet to see if we could maybe get through the night with him, or what they thought. They offered some good suggestions andsaid to call if we needed to go in sooner. But as another hour passed we knew his growing suffering and confusion was too much on him. My son phoned to say he was coming in.The staff were great! Got him in and assessed quickly. My son remained in the room with Nero for the entire event. Nero always had a lot of anxiety, but once at the clinic, he was calm and loving. The staff made a sad and unfortunate situation bearable with their kindness and compassion. I will definitely use them in the future for any emergency services we need
My puppy hates vets and here it seemed he didnt want to leave. This isnt my normal vet office and only came in as an emergency and I was freaking out and everyone there was really helpful and kept me calm even with all my anxiety.
Ill never go back there again! Paid 200$ for nothing all they did is take temperature and weight nothing else. Told them the symptoms but nothing suggested on what to do and also didnt follow thru with told symptoms. Never again will I go there!!
I had my husband take our puppy here yesterday afternoon because he was acting lethargic and wasn’t eating or drinking. We only saw a vet tech and she gave us prices… offered a parvo test…when we declined told us our puppy seemed fine and the come back if he gets worse. He was never examined and was never seen by a vet. Well I am in another emergency room vet today because he got worse.
Brought my dog here for an emergency, and they didn’t car until they got paid. My dog was dying and all they could care about was getting paid.......Please don’t bring your pets here if they’re on the verge of dying. Will never recommend anyone this place.....they have their priorities messed up.....
We sat from 7am until 145pm to be seen. 10 people with pets came and went and still nothing. This is outrageous even a couple other places we called said it is outrageous. If my dog doesnt make it after all this I will make sure no one ever comes here
This place is awesome! Weve been taking our dog here for a couple of years now and they have always exceeded my expectations. They are perfect for both emergencies as well as general health maintenance of your pets. Everyone from the front desk staff to the technicians to the doctors are all truly exceptional at what they do. They are all not only very knowledgeable, but they seem to really love what they do and it shows in how they make you feel like they truly care about your pet and all of your concerns.
After spending $2500 with another emergency vet, we were so grateful to have a doctor who was thoughtful and really tried to understand the possibilities without jumping to conclusions and expecting us to spend thousands more. Because of this thoughtful care, our puppy is back on track and healthy. Who knows what would have happened if we had gone the experimental route? We will definitely let everyone know about 1stPet.
I have to start by saying I’m writing this review based on my husband’s and his family’s experience. Unfortunately, they had to put their dog down and they had never experienced this before. This was their first family pet of 17 years. I wish I knew all of the staff’s name that helped them so I can thank them personally for being there for them in such a personal and sensitive time. Thank you for being so professional yet caring.
Found a stray last week. The girl that answered the phone was extremely rude with me and shouldnt even be working at 1st pet. However the lady that came out was nice. Still didnt end well when I had to call back and got the same girl with such a bad attitude that I had to just hang up on her.
We had to go in last week after my dog got bit at the dog park. After calling all around the valley on an especially busy night 1st Pet had the shortest wait times so we headed over there. They were really friendly from the get go. They checked out the bite wound and got my dog pain meds for the wait. They had the option of leaving her and coming back or staying in a private room for the wait. We chose to stay and the vet cam in and explained everything they were going to do (I was sitting on the floor with my dog and the vet came in and sat on the floor with us, personally I think that says volumes about their care). They stitched my pup up really well and the bill ended up on the lower end of their estimate range which was a nice bonus. Id definitely recommend them in an emergency! Thanks again!
Edit:Although I did appreciate the ambiance, customer interaction, and super-clean feel of the place very much, once we got home, I discovered that the service we paid for had not been completed thoroughly. We went to have Maggie-Moos glands expressed... it seems they only did one side. It took me a few days to notice, but she is still inflamed and full on one side... poor baby. So I have to take two stars off... at the end of the day, the animals health and comfort are more important than the human interface.-------Previous review:Top shelf experience with this vet (Feb 2020). First of all, every room at this location is immaculately clean. Even better, the folks who work there, from front desk, to lab techs, are gentle and kind. Plus lots of small things that mesh together to give you a wonderful overall experience. For example, there was very little waiting, and when I did have to wait, they made me feel pampered and cared for by bringing bottled water (nice touch). Other nice touches: exam room was outfitted with a pretty little aqua glass vessel sink, and an apple computer on which they played soothing music. Just many small touches of class, but of course the most important part is they were good to my little baby. In this photo, shes the white one with the pink nose ;-)
Unfortunately, my cat was very ill and passed away. Staff was extremely responsive, and rushed him to treatment. I was lucky enough to have them a mile from home during this emergency at 4:30 am. Sympathy card hand signed by staff was very sweet, and appreciated!
The services we had in March and now for Finnegan have been amazing. Your care, calls and service - even cost are amazing and I would bring him back every time to our location 7th Ave UH. Thank you for being open 24/7 as each of our visits have been after our Vet closed!
My little buddy Dusty was ill late at night and I took him in to 1st Pet to see what we could do. He had a regular vet visit coming up but I felt something was wrong. I had to wait in the truck for him due to the Covid-19 situation, and they contacted me via phone for everything they did. They did X-rays and I thought we could wait for his regular vet to do the labs as they had been great just 5 months ago and w/o the labs they felt he was in some kind of pain and to try the pain meds and follow up with my regular vet. We went home and I notified his vet, but later that night he started convulsing and having seizures. I called 1st Pet again, this time in tears, and they allowed me to come into a room with him after a Covid-19 assessment and wearing a mask. He had another seizure and I had them do the labs this time and they came back high in all areas indicating pancreas and other organ issues along with full diabetes which he never had before, he had Cushings disease, and he was just shy of 13 years old. Corgi/mixes usually live 12-14 years. All the staff were amazing! They explained what our options were and what it would cost. The costs were reasonable considering it is an Emergency 24/7 Animal Hospital. At 5:30 am I made the painful decision to let him go instead of putting him through what could be a horrible last few days in a hospital setting. Dr Michael Schacher was very compassionate and helped us through the heartbreaking process and all the staff, Jenni, Melissa, Megan and Sue? were all very helpful and compassionate in their care of my little buddy and the emotional mess that was me. I chose to take him to P.A.L.S. and didnt use their cremation services, but they placed him in a small coffin box for me to transport him and they even gave me a free set of paw prints to take home. I wouldnt hesitate to use 1st Pet Veterinary Services again and really appreciate that they are there for us all!
When I called about a question to give my dog Benadryl because she broke out in hives but was worried because she was on another medication and I didn’t know if it was safe. The lady on the phone seemed very annoyed that she had to answer the question several times. I know it might be annoying to them to answer the questions several times but my dog is my everything and it’s scary to not know what I can and can’t give her when she’s broke out in hives. So that was the only issue I had with my experience with 1st Vet.
When I couldn’t find any other office that would see my pet, they didn’t hesitate to see her that same day. Dr and staff are always very friendly and treat my dog with such care even though my dog isn’t very cooperative and friendly.
Steer clear!, took our dog for an emergency C-section. I’m a breeder and have a pretty good idea when a C-section is needed. They took over 1.5 hours to “assess” our dog and took exrays. The vet Determined she did not warrant a C-section and sent us home. Dog had one live pup 9 hours later! We contacted First Pet and requested again For them to do an immediate C-section. They’d Said “bring her in and we will do another Assessments and CHARGE again $175 for this Exam!!!“. We took her to a different clinic and he immediately delivered the other 2 pups...one dead, one alive. All three were alive when we took her to First Pet, yesterday!
The doctor was thorough in his explanation of my furry babys issues. He did NOT rush through his explanation of what he thought was wrong with my baby but his explanation was scary and had my heart in my throat. My baby ended up staying overnight and part of the next day while the team at 1st Pet looked for an Internal Medicine Specialist to further exam the cause of my babys most recent health issue.
This place is amazing! I walked in with a kitten in desperate need and they immediately helped! So thankful for what they do!
They truly saved our kitty’s life. We rushed in with our cat who was near death and within a few minutes they had stabilized her and gave her the support she needed. I will be forever grateful to the veterinary team that gave us more time with our sweet kitty. I don’t know how long we will have with her, due to an unknown congenital diagnosis, but they gave us the opportunity to get to a specialist, who will help us give her longer term support. Our family is so thankful for the highly skilled attention she received.
Staff was beyond helpful and kind. Dr. Ryan Lunt was especially great...perfect mix of personable and professional. We did have to wait 3 hours to see him but i understand more critical animals may have had to come first or a large amount of need happened that day.
This place will kill your dog with a smile on their face while taking your money to the bank
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND: Only “Emergency” visit I have ever had with wait times longer than a standard Vet visit (4 hours plus), complete lack of follow up even when they say that they will do something, & 0 care for doing the right thing. Save your money & go somewhere else
I dont know how these people sleep at night. Let alone walk around with smiles on their faces. If you need 900 up front to do anything to a pet that is clearly in need of urgent help. Youre less than human, and if and when you pay that and the doctor is able to save your pet. I hope they dont feel good about what they have done because they wouldnt do it if it werent for money. That shows no kindness in that persons heart. Cold cold people.
Absolutely the worse vet hospital and care canter for pets. They don’t care for your pets nor do they even care about anything but money. Please don’t ever take your dog or pet there.
I brought my Dutch Shepherd in for severe back pain. He was really suffering. The thing that I appreciated the most is that they onboarded paid meds right away, to make him comfortable and then gave him thorough care to address his injury. I highly recommend this clinic and these docs!
We brought our senior dog, Rocky, in somehow knowing he wouldn’t be coming home. All the staff from the initial phone call to make the appointment to saying our goodbyes to our dog kid was compassionate, kind, professional. Although it was a tough appointment, I felt comfort knowing I did the right thing. Thank you all for your kindness with Rocky. Terri and Steve
Love 1St Pet. Everyone is extremely friendly, kind and helpful. I feel like my dog receives a very thorough exam and the vets (she’s seen several) are excellent at explaining my dogs issues. Just love this place.
This ER is a busy place which means it must be good. Because of Covid concerns I was not able to stay with my dog, had to leave her there which was a bummer, so wasnt able to see how they interacted with her or her with them. It took 8hrs from dropping off my dog until I picked her up. There was a lot of time (3hrs) until she was seen, diagnosed and then called with the prognosis and treatment needed. The staff was very friendly and answered any questions..
This is an exceptional Vet Practice. Everyone coordinates and does an outstanding job of caring for your pet. I truly believe they treat your animal with loving care.UPDATE: 7/19/2021Dr. Venable, her team, and all the rest of the caregivers at 1st Pet did an outstanding job caring for our cat Willie. The caregivers at this institution are knowledgeable and caring. Willie underwent a surgical procedure for dental care. Dr. Venable made personnal contact with us during the procedure and kept us well informed of the progress of the procedure. I highly recommend Dr. Venable as a caregiver for your pet. There are also other great Doctors there such as Dr. Capozzi and Dr. Wachtel. A Doctor Ryan Lunt is the clinic director who also is a wonderful Vet!!
The physical therapy and laser care I have gotten for my Cuddles has been great! Nikki and Marianne are amazing! The quality of care and attention they give to my Cuddles is above and beyond my expectations. The connection they have with my fur baby eases any anxiety that Cuddles may have had going into physical therapy with her having cataracts and not being able to see very well. Cuddles loves them and trust them which has made her progress that much better. This is most important thing to me I dont worry about leaving her for physical therapy or laser with Nikki and Marianne. I would highly recommend Nikki and Mariannes care to any animal owner. Cuddle and I appreciate them so much!
The staff is amazing. I always have a good experience
Always a great review when it comes to First Pet, especially when Dr. Venable takes care of my doggies. She is so thorough and really takes her time with each pet and person, explaining her findings and solutions. Carrie is great! So sweet and always smiling (even behind her mask).
We cant thank you all enough for caring for our dog Rosie. The likelihood she would have survived without your excellent treatment is very small. Thank you for your excellent communication regarding her condition and the treatment plan.
Brought in our new cat Tobi who had been living with our daughter since rescued from under a bush in the rain as a tiny kitten. Urinating issue all over our house as he has some behavioral issues with food anxiety, and stress responses when new people/things come and go even though he is highly social and loves interacting. Its not even been a week since the appointment but we are already seeing positive results in calming these behaviors. Thank you so much, great 1st visit.
1st Pet helped me during an emergency, when my labrador retriever cut her legs open while swimming in Sedona. We drove straightto 1st pet ( on a sunday) and they met us in the parking lot. Olivia had surgery immediately. And, our Husky puppy has enjoyed all the routine care he receives with 1st Pet .
Me and my wife brought in our dog Bella. She was having a seizure at home for a few minutes then appeared to be fine. Approximately 3 hours later she had another episode which was about 4 times worse than earlier in the late afternoon. Panicked as my wife and I were, went on the internet to find a 24 hour location, 1st Pet popped up and was easy to get to so we went there. Very professional staff and very knowledgeable helping us and our family dog!!! Thank you very much for everything you do!!!
We love this location. The staff here is AWESOME. Our experience with this location started off with an emergency middle of the night vet trip who happened to be close to where we live. We were so impressed with everyone from the overnight Dr, all the techs, that we ended up making them our Primary care for our little guy. LOOK NO FURTHER for a comfortable, affordable clinic. They take care of your furbaby and make sure you know it!
You were all so attentive and made sure we were comfortable in our waiting. The vet was honest and upfront with treatment options and opinion. It’s easy to see that you care about your patients and their owners. Very glad we came here.
I called 20 min before I arrived with an emergency, once I got their me and my screaming animal had to wait in the heat for 15 min before someone came out. I was told to wait after I asked a question because they were dealing with an emergency yet three ladys were at the front and continued their conversation after I walked to my room ( they were laughing and talking about unrelated things to work ), then once I received some calls to the doctor he was very unprofessional witch made me scared for my dogs safety, finnaly after I paid they were taking their time and I had to wait 20 min after everything to get my animal back, this is absolute laziness and I will never be using this place again and will be reporting this to the proper people, please do not take your pets here they are overpricing their stuff and I love how I see everyone else was charged 140 yet I was charged 175 for just an inspection, I have a firm belief these people do not care about animals and just want to me childish and get money out of you and your pets
Grant it, I did have to wait close to four hours before I could leave with my pup due to emergencies, I still want to say how nice the staff was and how very caring they were. I was checked on numerous time, offered a goodie basket to help occupy my time and I was even offered and given a blanket because I was cold! Thanks guys!!
I had the misfortune of choosing this vet clinic during a vet emergency. They did not disclose any where the level of curbside service they provide, and they website actually lists criteria where the owner would be allowed in with the dog, which i fully met. This was not made an option fort me. I believe this lack of disclosure is driven by greed, and I believe their definition of curbside service does not meet the standard of care that we should be entrusting to our pets. The environment they create creates the following deterimental effects to the overall health of our pets and our community: 1. exacerbates underlying conditions like separation anxiety which can prove fatal during an emergency 2. creates an easy mechanism for diversion of prescription drugs and narcotics 3. does not provide owners with the opportunity to learn how to properly perform aftercare 4. Is poor clinical practice. I thankfully was able to find multiple vets that can maintain the standard of care while still taking necessary covid precautions, and I would implore that you do also. I would not trust the veterinarians in this practice as they showed tremendous and egregious lack of clinical judgement in agreeing with these practices which are absolutely not suitable in an emergency.
I appreciate the quickness and compassion your staff tened to our lil sick kitty. Sadly a difficult decision had to be made and we had to say goodbye to Our fur baby. Thanks to the staff at the clinic, whom sent us a sympathy card in regards to pet. God bless you. We will definitely bring our other pets to being treated.
I have been to other vets in the valley who offer emergency care in addition to regularly-scheduled appointments. In my case, I prepaid for what I thought was going to be an emergency. As it turned out, my pet required minimal services at a fraction of the cost of an emergency. I am convinced that everyone at 1st Pet Vet (North Valley) not only loves animals, but they truly take care to not over-charge. This makes my 3rd visit in a row where I could have easily spent double or triple the fees, were it not for there vets looking out for me.11.8.2020 The most important things to me are 1) successfully resolving the underlying health issue; 2) getting as much information I canto be a better pet owner; 3) correcting any personal bad habits (i.e. -putting butter and shredded cheese on my dogs food)Keep up the GREAT work!!!
Treated my fur baby over a long three-day weekend, saving his life.
Staff very kind and responsive. Doctors were thorough and spent time explaining and answering questions.
Very satisfied with the great staff you have assembled at this location.
The care that was shown for my sick dog was heart felt. It meant a lot to me.
I have always loved this vet office. The vets are kind, the staff is compassionate, they are accommodating and really make you feel like they care. The office is also spotless and clean. I had to take my cat in to be euthanized not too long ago, he was dying of kidney failure and there was nothing that could be done for him in the long term. I was hysterical and the team at this office was absolutely amazing and comforting. Because of this, I chose them to make one of the hardest decisions of my life. My senior dog, who was 13 years old has been steadily, and more recently rapidly declining had to be put down. He had lost vision, started to have seizures & show aggression, would sun down and not know where he was. He rapidly lost weight and nearly all quality of life. I called to see if you needed an appointment for euthanasia and was told NO - but what they failed to state is that it would cost an additional $200 to be a walk in and have an exam that was not needed by a vet that made comments about his bad teeth and some matted fur on his back legs. Over $400 for the worst decision Ive ever had to make in my life. I dont expect free services by any means but an up charge for what? Be upfront with your clients, especially those who have returned year after year.
First pet does not have the ability to properly care for your pet. when your family member is actively bleeding it does not constitute any amount of need or use of care. First pet is a failure at caring for animals.
The staff is so kind. I dont feel like I just left my dog at the vet. I feel like I took her to get loved on by people who can really help her. I worry about her anxiety/stress in unfamiliar situations when Im not there but 1st Pets staff makes me feel secure in knowing that she is being given the best treatment (medically and emotionally). Thank you guys for all that you do. I will forever take my pets here, you have my full and complete trust with my fur-children!
My oriental shorthair, was unwell due to a urinary and bowel issue. The doctors and staff were wonderful.Although due to Covid 19 regulations, we could not be with my cat and handed him over to an assistant in the parking lot, he was so very well looked after. The doctor called me, to make sure we were on the same page as far as what my cat had experienced during his sickness and he also took the time to ask me questions via telephone. This is a veterinary facility that one can be sure that the doctors and staff will look after your pet.I absolutely trust 1st Pet Veterinary Center. Definitely deserving a 5 star rating. Truly a professional facility.
It was a busy Saturday so I know that Dr. Kung was probably juggling a lot of important balls in the air. She still did an amazing job of keeping me informed as the day went on. She never seemed rushed or short on the phone describing the issues or possible solutions. Very appreciative of her expertise and the entire experience. Our greyhound had a shard of plastic embedded in his paw and she extracted and hes on the mend.
