Ann was horrible had to keep telling her how to do my feet and to paint end to end end she caught attitude giving me my manicure and how she painted my nails the chick at the first stand when you come in she took over and she thought that everything looked fine and it did not I wouldnt recommend anyone going there if youre just getting the regular polish because it seems they value them more. Horrible service horrible attitudes just all around horrible experience.
I enjoyed my experience there last Saturday. I came Im as a walk-in late in the afternoon and they welcomed me kindly. I got a french manicure and pedicure which was first one. The woman did a great job. The hot stones and hit tow treatment was thrown it which was lovely. Her husband did my finger nails. He really did a great job!!! I will return.a
So Tracy was wonderful! I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she got inspired by it and mimicked the style and created something bomb for me! The only reason why I did not give a 5 star rating is the prices. I love my cheap but good businesses. However, I will be back because of a few reasons: quality of work is great, they are professional, clean, and they are open on Sunday’s. I will give up my other nail spot just because Essence are open on Sundays!!!
I loved my nails. The technician did a fantastic job. The place was clean. I arrived early and was able to be taken care of right away. It’s been three weeks and my pedi is still looking great. I got so many compliments. The only con was it was on the pricey side and the prices weren’t listed. I would go back again.
I love Tracy and the service that she give me, I really love the new eyelashes glue. It holds well, I washed my hair and none of my eyelashes came off. Keep up the good work Tracy and Trinity. Very professional based business. I popped in toward the weekend without an appointment and during a heavy volume time so I was not able to get my nails done as I could not wait. Returned the next day still without an appointment, and the salon was still busy BUT because they noticed I waited the day before and I expressed I had a flight to catch they quickly accommodated me. I appreciate the staff being so accommodating even with them not being the reason for any inconvenience. Thank you
My second time coming to Essence and everyone is super friendly and professional. Made an appointment and was taken as soon as i walked in both times. Essence is VERY clean (especially since Covid) and i loved my nails and pedicure both times i came. Thank You Ladies so much, you’ve got a constant client!
I will never come back to this place. I watched Tracy (the manager) discriminate against a young woman with an intellectual disability. Tracy asked the caregiver not to bring the young girl back because she was singing while listening to music. The singing was not disruptive at all. It was so sad to witness. There’s too many nail salons to give money to one where they treat people that way.
I usually get my eyebrows done here so when it came to doing my nails I was curious to find out if I will be equally satisfied. Im impressed by how well my nails were done. The nail tech was very professional and attentive to what I wanted. I am so delighted.
I am obsessed with the service and the quality of my nails 💅 they have lots of nails polish to choose from.My Nail technician💁🏻♀️ Trinity is a Perfectionist she understand my style, she’s really good with understanding what i want! What my Nails look like in terms of designs. I show her what I want and she always make happen! Would not come here again. First off they were supposed to open at 9 and no one arrived until 915am. Ok…I get it things happen. I’ve come here before in the past and once or twice since the pandemic. I went in today to get a pedicure, refill and eyebrows done. After the woman was done my pedicure she asked for payment. I explained I was still getting more services done. She then said I needed to pay here. I again told here I was getting more services done. She then got another lady and basically you have to pay after getting each service done. I have NEVER heard of this before anywhere even with the pandemic. I explained I was not going to have my card charged twice. She still RUDELY asked for payment so I paid for my pedicure and left. This is not how to conduct business and I’m sorry this is a “new” rule of yours and I will not be returning.
I used to come here about every 11-14 days and I used to love it. It’s been a while since I’ve come in for my nails. I decided to come in two days ago to get my eyebrows, feet, and nails done. This is the first time I’ve had a poor experience. I got there before 8 and waited around two hours. Which I don’t mind at all, I know they’re busy. But when I was finally put in the chair, the man who was giving me my pedicure was extremely rude and so was the lady sitting next to him watching him. The two nice girls at the door then had me wait for my manicure and took my personal kit with them.When the other man came to do my nails he seemed annoyed and was giving me an attitude cause I didn’t know where my nail kit was. I sit down and tell him what I want (coffin shaped) &I thanked him. When he finally finished, I was satisfied by just looking at them they were fine to me. I then went to back to get my eyebrows done and the lady gives me an attitude and says “Who tell you you can get eyebrow?” I tell her I don’t know his name but I already paid him. Then she makes someone else do my eyebrows. When I left it was almost 12, when I got home I realized he did not do a good job, they look like he rushed to finish.
They are extremely inconsistent with their pricing. They make it up as they go and couldn’t explain how they came up with the total for my fill in. First they said it was for shape change and extra charge for coffin. Then they said ‘didn’t you have a nail repair?’ No, I didn’t. Also, they call the length of my nail in the picture medium-long and that’s allegedly 30$ instead of 25$. They would say anything at that point. Ladies, beware of these shops that don’t have their pricing out for the public to see what they are getting charged.
I was disappointed that the review lied and said it was black owned; but surprised to see an American that was not Asian working in the salon. It is Not Black Owned. Darlene did a wonderful job on my hands and feet.
I got a pedicure there yesterday and it was not like I expected. She rushed my feet. Didn’t scrub them properly. I asked many of times to cut my nails down she tried to file them than the kicker was she ack like she didn’t understand. I no all salons don’t do the same thing but customers should have a choice if they want them scrubbed or sanded. Didn’t soak them long and tried to scrap them dry. Won’t return there.

My children go here, they do a very nice job. However, I was disappointed when I finally went into the establishment and they didnt have a price listed for the customers to view. My two daughters received the same treatment and got different prices. 🤔

While I was getting my nails done my service was stopped & I was asked to pay right then & I said I can pay when done & I have the $- the tech agreed & then owner came over & leaned in with her back bent towards me & said there is a sign on the wall that says you must pay before service is done-her attitude, body language was terrible & unprofessional...and normally in other salons I am asked is it ok or do I want to pay now-the sign is not posted when you 1st come in the door at front desk & it was not mentioned to me when I arrived & it should of been since it was my 1st time coming there. I also hear her be nasty to another customer before that. Also they speak in their language all the time when they can speak English which is disrespectful & unprofessional since no 1 understands them but them. My nails were not completely filed down on both hands & had to be filed before I left because 1st tech left-they were so sharp it could scratch you or someone else. When I looked down and saw skin sticking out on my left toe that was obvious the owner got upset again because I pointed it out to her & once again got nasty with me & even asked that I dont come back. She offered to put oil on my feet & explained he could not go deep but her tone was mean and disrespectful. I told her to treat people the way she would want to be treated, that she was unprofessional & disrespectful...and she needs to be careful because everyone will not respond like I did. The 1st time she was nasty I said nothing to her & paid but the second time I addressed her. Lastly they did not offer a receipt, I had to request it & when I did it was quiet after I paid then finally the tech said she is getting a receipt which was written out without a date. I just read their dishonest response. And this is my response to what was said: Do not go there!!! I told the tech who I believe is the owners daughter to just clean up my brows & she did not-she took most of my eyebrow off-she did what she wanted to do. In terms of expressing a concern-I did it when I noticed it, which was until the end-I didnt look at my eyebrows until I got home, but in terms of addressing you-everything I shared in this post, including telling you that I was going to give my review, I did. You all do not operate with integrity so its no wonder that you want the money before the service is completed. As you know I requested my money back at the end because your customer service was poor & not called for.I did call the police officer, but instead of waiting for them to come I decided that this would be best, and that is sharing my review. I came to relax & not deal w/an angry owner and staff not talking with me in a language that I understand, which is English, but your own language...and a business where no one understands you, but you...is totally wrong. So stop your lying and do right by people, and be honest from the door, take a lesson on communicating appropriately. You cant treat people nasty consistently and expect them to remain silent and take it-it doesnt work that way, and I dont want anyone else to experience the service I received.
The woman in the first seat berated and tried to bait me into an argument after co worker did a bad job on my nails. She basically lied and said I had a bad reputation there and Ive only been there 3 times and before her I had great experiences and loved the work the other 2 nail techs did. I wasnt even super peeved that they were messed up just wanted them redone and not even all of them. Before I could tell her that she was raising her voice and manhandling my hand. This is something she should take up with her co worker not customers who respectfully bring it to her attention. The woman in the first seat should be ashamed to herself, if I had returned the favor I would be.
I give a 3 start because Im a very detailed person. The shape of my nails isnt all coffin-shaped some are just square. I do like the design and colors and because Im coming from a different location that did a horrible job and I mean my nails where falling of the the same week 🤦🏽♀️. This is 10x better. But I would have like to see consistency with the shaping of my nails.
Terrible for eyebrows, lady poked me in the eye when I said I didnt like my eyebrows and she was very rude. Not worth the money.
I’m not one to right a review but the service was so horrible I had to . I’ve been there several times . Noticed that every time I’m there they are having issues with customers and go back and forth with them . I know how customer services can be and it never happened to me so I over looked it . The woman did my French tip and it looked like Jersey shore snooki nails and they were bumpy. She then refused to talk to me or fix the issue. The manager was just as rude . When I asked about pricing they said they don’t have time for this and I had to wait 1 hour for them to fix it . They got loud and continued to argue me down . So disrespectful and lack of quality customer service.
They do good nails but prices are too high they make up prices $65 just for a full set is insane and the nails are not all that... One of the workers got nasty when I tried to tell her how I wanted my eyebrows done and said like I said rolled her eyes with an attitude... They dont like us just our money... They dont know how to do eyebrows and will blame the customers stop being defensive and solve the problem the lady barely let me talk and had an nasty attitude and my eyebrows still did not look good...
Workers at this establishment are very professional. If you request a design they will do it until it is perfect and to your liking. I always have an amazing experience when I visit this nail salon.

I had a lovely experience when I went in for a pedicure. The establishment is very clean and they are very courteous individuals. I’ve received a manicure from here two weeks ago and I must say my gel nails are still looking good. They definitely use quality products from my experience. Loved the services :-)

My daughter and I patronized this establishment on 10/14/2020. We arrived around 6:05pm and did not get seated until 7:20pm. Usually I would have left after waiting 20-30minutes but my daughter was going on a trip the next day. We both received pedicures (excellent treatment) but when picking our polish color the owner became frustrated because I in her personal opinion took to long and could not decide the color (first issue but I waited patiently for over on hour). She verbally expressed her irritation when I told my daughter “ they appear to be tired because I’m being rushed to pick a color” ( I would rather you turn me away when I walked in the door oppose you becoming frustrated because it’s getting late and your ready to leave). Her entire behavior started shift (but her employees remained professional and accommodating despite the language barrier). Now I only get gel on my nails so that wasn’t as brutal but my daughter it was a mess. She received a refill on her long nails and three different polish colors ( this is where the entire experience turned).Now this was my daughter’s first time there, she is a college student, just moved on her own and on her way on a trip so asking about pricing is realistic for me it didn’t matter. The price list stated $28 for pedicures, $38 or $40 for refills for long nails, $8 for long nail replacement and $5 to remove old gel (this we know when we sat down, a little more of a cost then my daughter usually pay but it’s late and she is leaving tomorrow). After her service was compete the total can to $96 for pedicure and nails and I mention she did not get any gel, designs, powder polish or gels/stones.The owner who refused to tell me her name lost it because I asked why the cost was so much. Her employees explained my daughter nails are considered extra long (I agree) and asked so why didn’t you tell me that instead of paying $38 or $40 fore the refill it would be $48 and instead of $8 for replacing a long nail it is now $12? To make the matters worst the communication was horrible with the employees but there customer service skills was adequate.As we are wrapping my daughter nails up she decided she wanted glitter on both nails she told the tech and she told her okay. After I paid the $96 she tried to ignore my daughter request and paint her nails with the color she already had. My daughter was so disgusted and was allowing her and I told her no! If your paying you accept nothing less then what you want! The owner suggested next time we may want to go somewhere cheaper (confused because money was not or is not an issue). The problem is that you do not notifying you customers of the extra cost outside of the price list and how you respond to your customers because they as questions about the money they spend.I know this was long but I am a strong believer of customer service and respect. It appears that she assume not sure if it’s my skin, the neighborhood, her thoughts or because I questioned what I was spending my money on she determined it was a money issue. She later told me never to return and she has me on camera. I had no intentions on returning and I am a law abiding citizen so the camera doesn’t scare me. I hope she review the camera and see her poor behavior and disrespect for her customers and how calm a stayed and presented non threatening. My daughter nail pics are below. As horrible as they was I was not trying to upset her before her trip. Now you tell me where did my $96 go???
There are many technicians, so I was able to walk right in and get service. My gel manicure and regular pedicure were beautifully done.

The best nail salon in Philadelphia! The staff is very friendly, they take their time with each client and they do an amazing job! The salon is very clean and everything is sanitized after each client. They have a wide variety of options to choose from and are very reasonably priced. It is very easy to make an appointment. They are quick to respond and always go above and beyond to accommodate your needs. I have never had an issue with my nails chipping, breaking or becoming loose. I absolutely adore Trinity. She is the best! I get compliments almost daily on my nails. I definitely recommend this business! You will have a great experience!
I walked in and the ladies took such good care of me from the jump. Very very clean and professional. The pedicure was well done and the lady took her time. Tracy did my gel tips and my nails are FLAWLESS! She was also REALLY nice and professional. I would highly recommend and I will be visiting again!

I have no problem spending money on GOOD SERVICE but this service was terrible my nails are horrible I wouldn’t recommend at all, they charge close to $100 for just full set and gel polish. Mind you when I text to make my appointment I was given a totally different price. This place is horrible please don’t waste your money here.

Today was my first time going there and let me tell you l, it was definitely an enjoyable experience the tech I had was Tracy she was so nice and informative, and took really good care of my natural nails and did a really great job I also got my eyebrows done and they look great (done by Tracey also) And they clean nonstop (which is good for Covid-19) I Definitely will be returning, and they’re open on Sundays

They would not allow my kids to come in and get their nails done due to covid after I talked to someone on the phone about bringing them in. Total waste of time.

Hello, this is my 4th time going to this salon and my experience continues to be worst than the last visit. The staff does not understand the concept excellent customer service. When you have an issue the manager that sits at the front speaks to you as if you are a child and acts like you are bothering them. Also they are unprofessional with regards to how fees are communicated. As a professional working woman it made me feel as if I had zero coins in my wallet. No one should feel this way. Poor quality and extremely poor service

This was my first time at Essence Nail & Spa today. It was such a great experience. When I came in the door, everyone was friendly. The young lady who greeted me made me feel welcome ( I am sorry I didn’t get her name). Also, Kathy gave me a relaxing pedicure and a gel manicure. She did a wonderful job. I can tell they use quality products because my nails look great. Also, Anna made my brows come to life with the tinted and waxed brow. I will definitely be back!!!
I give a two star to this place nails came out good and i did not have a long wait but they make up prices as they go along when i was done she gave me the overall price witch was fine still have to pay for services however when i asked for a breakdown of what im paying she had to do the math about twice for it can add up to w.e she gave me the first time it was lower then price was more just didnt add up.
Has always been a professional place with No loud disrespectful people. I was truly impressed with the CDC requirements and suggestions that they have implemented since the pandemic. Outstanding as it makes you feel safer when being serviced and I love the No loud cursing or other vulgarity
Went there for the first time and I was seated within minutes of my scheduled appointment time. They are very clean. During my entire appointment I constantly saw them cleaning and sanitizing in between clients. Im going to revisit and try another nail tech. I always like to try multiple people to find whose work I like best.
