Just got my nails done there. friendly staff and good energy. nice atmosphere. I dont remember the nail techs name but she was very attentive to detail and made sure the nails were even and smooth. finally, a salon that i like!!

First Time Here When I Arrived I was greeted asked to sanitize and put a mask on. Meeka was my nail tech sometimes I can be a little indecisive started with one color when I walked over then decided right before she was going to polish to change the color she offered to pick another color for me. Meeka was very friendly and patient. She understood my sensitive skin and took that into consideration when handling my feet and very gentle. She took her time and didnt rush like most places trying to get you in and out 25 mins. I love the brown sugar scrub feels so nice on my feet and the foot rub and hot towel was awesome. The Music was a whole Vibe and made the atmosphere really inviting and relaxing. GREAT EXPERIENCE!!

Very cute place. Black owned. Chill music and my technician did my short nails very nice. They look better then theyve ever looked. My fiance liked them a lot which means now I have to keep this nail thing up but its all good. Thank you Miss Brown for doing a nice job. Reasonably priced. Sanitary, nice people.

I got a gel refill here with Brianna and it was a wonderful experience. The store is so clean. They make you sanitize and take your temp as soon as you enter. The nail tech was super friendly and enthusiastic to do the designs I showed her! They used safe tools that are designed to not hurt you so you aren’t afraid of getting nipped by the tools. My nails came out exactly how I imagined which rarely happens in other salons and they were done within the allotted time slot so I could keep my plans for the day. I’ll definitely be returning!

Love this place! I come every 3-4 weeks to get my nails done by Sae! She’s super sweet and always brings forth good conversation. The other ladies are nice too! It’s very clean and they follow Covid-19 restrictions very well. Temp checks and sanitizing when you first come in. And there’s never more than one or occasionally two other people getting service done so you can socially distance really well inside. The ambiance is also really nice. If you love r&b music like I do then you’ll definitely love getting your nails done here. People always stop and tell me my nails look nice and I always recommend this place.

This was my first visit to this nail salon. It was recommended by my daughter and granddaughter. The salon was clean and had a nice quiet atmosphere. The owner and staff were very professional. I was in a hurry and the technician who performed my pedi got me in and out within an hour. The nail polish was applied with expertise (no polish on the skin around my toenails). Even though I live in King of Prussia, Pa and this nail salon is located in South Philadelphia, Pa, I will be going back for my monthly pedi. Its worth the trip.

I wanted to like this place more since it’s black owned. The ladies were nice and it was very clean and cute inside. I did have to wait 20 minutes even though I had an appointment but I guess that wasn’t too bad. For my eyebrow wax i asked for them not to be thin just cleaned up. The lady made them very thin and even took all the end off of one:(. Maybe I’ll go back for nails but not eyebrows unfortunately.

I wont be going back ever. My time is valuable just like everyone else. I scheduled an appointment for 1230pm for a simple polish change on my feet and nails. While parking i received a call 10 minutes before the appointment stating I have to reschedule because whomever I was scheduled with called out . After 2 hrs she changed my feet and I never got. my nails done.

I went to Brown Sugar Nail salon yesterday, and I must say I was very impressed. My appt was 10am. and it was on time. The owner and the other nail technicians was very pleasant to me and welcoming. I love the atmosphere and I love my mani and pedi. Keriah ( I hope I didnt mess up her name) took very good care of me and I will definitely return.

My first appointment was a nice experience. When I arrived I was greeted by a young lady who apologized that they were running behind, because someone called out that day. My two appointments after that, were not the same. I arrived a few minutes early each time and waited 30-45 minutes before I was seated and serviced.I scheduled an appointment on October 2nd and had to reschedule for October 19th because of car trouble. I received a call on October 13th by an employee at the salon, she told me that I had an appointment on that morning and had not shown up. I told her that I had no record of that. I asked if my card was charged she said they tried and it didnt go through.

Loved that this was a black-owner business. I was specifically looking for sugaring services and this was the first place that popped up on Google search. My waxer seemed really knowledgeable about waxing. However, it hurt like hell and I was told it would hurt more when the hair is longer (I hadn’t been waxed since March due to COVID) but my skin would get used to it. Cool. Most painful experience ever to be honest but my wax lady did an awesome job removing every single hair. I would suggest, though, that they find a talc-free powder because talc is no good for the genital area on a woman. It has been strongly linked to cervical cancer.

I had a great experience!! Brittany did my Brown Sugar pedicure of which I am completely satisfied. Lots of color choices available. The staff I encountered/observed were pleasant. Comfortable environment. Nice conversation with other patrons. Obsevered the pedicure tubs being thoroughly scrubbed and sanitized-like your grandmother taught you!! It felt great to be in an environment where I felt my patronage was appreciated AND I could understand everything that was being said around me! Will definitely be a repeat customer and tell every melanin-rich individual I know about this salon!!

I’ll def give them 5 stars. The customer service was on point, vibe was great, place was clean. Walked in was greeted as soon as I walked in. Brittany was great I didn’t have an appointment but she worked me in and it had felt like I’d been there before. Also had my chin and lip waxed and they cleaned my face before started waxing!! Gwen is so amazing at waxing. Definitely recommend doing the monthly membership. I save more than 30% on my Brazilian wax. Today I added eyebrow and armpits on. Which I was a little nervous about anyone doing my eyebrows because I love thick eyebrows but I was so happy with the outcome. Gwen did an amazing job and I was so happy to learn that I can add eyebrows to my monthly membership.

This place is amazing! My aunt and I visited the salon today. The salon is beautiful. They greet you at the door and the do offer complimentary beverages. The staff is so friendly and personable. It’s very different from other salons where u feel like they are doing you a favor instead of valuing that u are spending money at THEIR place. Very professional. The work was very neat and I absolutely loved the brown sugar scrub and hot towel :) Parking can be a hassle but I will definitely come back to this establishment. Make sure you make an appointment because they fill up and walk ins are not permitted.

I hate to say it, but all the reviews about lack of customer service are correct. I visited the salon on two separate occasions and both times I did not get greeted when I walked in, it was a good 2 to 3 minutes before someone said anything to me. Other than that my service was ok.

I get waxing from Gwen who is amazing. The entire staff is very nice and the prices are reasonable. Additionally, its female-owned and operated!

I am from out of state and I LOVE sporting Black Owned businesses, therefore I caught a Uber to take me to this particular salon. The site said nothing about scheduling appointments to receive service but that is definitely the case. I was so disappointed!! She told me that they did not have time to fit me in, although I arrived before 1:00 pm and they do not close until 7:30 pm. Unless youve prescheduled an appointment, I suggest you not even waste your time!! Very sad and bad for business!

The girls running the spa are great. Very friendly and cheerful, and fun to chat with. The spa itself is clean and beautiful. They have a decent array of colors. They do a decent polish job. This is an upscale nail spa.My issue with this place is that I think its really, really pricey for what you get -- a quick spa pedi, barely a massage, lasting 30 minutes for $45!! I expect more when you pay extra for an upper tier pedicure.

Very clean salon and the staff was friendly. I had a 5:30 appointment and I was there at 5:27. They told me my appointment was for 5 and the tech has left for the day. I kindly showed them my email because I booked online. After a few minutes they told me that they will do my nails. My pedicure came out nice and so did my nails. What didnt sit right with me is that not at all did they apologize for the appointment mix up. Sae did a great job on my nails and I made another appointment. Parking is limited but the salon is very clean.

Came in today for my first ever Brazilian Wax. I was SUPER nervous but Gwen made me very comfortable with small talk and the service took less than 10 mins. 5/5 stars. Beautiful atmosphere and lovely staff. Will be back for wax appointments in the future !

This place was awesome! Not only because it means a lot to me that is black owned but that its black owned and professional. I know it meant a lot to grandmother who is in her 70s and my mother whos in her 50s who for the first had an AA person do her nails. Also, due to medical issues my grandmother couldnt ahve certain tools used on her and the nail tech knew exactly what to do. I thank you all again!!! I had a great time.

This is a revised review after several not great experiences.The waxing services are quick but, the technicians are always running late only leaving 15 minutes for every appointment, quickly falling behind. I have waited a half hour pass my appointment time before. Place smells like an inviting brown sugar, but its not very inviting,Customer service is not good. They do not greet you when you come through the door and assume you know what to do. Your ignored until you make a fuss. Then if you get a membership and have multiple credits they will take your money if you dont call to cancel. I had a credit of 60 dollars which they deleted. Bad customer service . No valid contract to take the money. Poorly run establishment . Take your money and business elsewhere you can thank me later.

I was really excited about finally getting the opportunity to support this business but NEVER AGAIN!!!!!! The Manager also lacks customer service skills & did a horrible job with my manicure. Found them on google and wanted to support the business. Very sub par manicure and pedi. The mani was $45. The owner said she refunded it but only $35 was posted to my bank, I even emailed the proof showing $45 wasnt posted. Maybe next time, it may help to call the customer and discuss discrepancies rather than email.

They looked fine but they were not. She didnt do a good job. I asked for thin & they were thick thin...I dont know. I didnt notice until I got home to take a real good look.Im going to stick with going to the barber.I was foolish enough to return; not once but a third time. What a mistake & waste of money. The quality of the services & product did not improve. Pedi seemed rushed & even tho time was taken for my refill, polish on both still faded & within two days a nail broke. I have wasted gas, time & money at this shop. Those who gave ratings higher than 3, who did you go to?

Had a 10am appointment and they didnt open until 10:20am. No excuses. I had to be somewhere and I was extremely late. No apologies for running late. The gel manicure was sloppy. I got air bubbles and the gel peeled completely off in less than a week. They want a $3 fee to fix the nails. Dont have a huge assortment of colors so dont go in there expecting to find a certain color. Youll be disappointed. Owner was unwilling to fix my manicure free of charge. Never going back!!! Steer clear of this place! Not even worth the Groupon!

Long review ahead, Fair warning.I honestly do not know where to even begin! I am still LIVID. I am a bride to be and I had a bridal photo shoot on Thursday afternoon. I researched black owned nail salons and made an appointment with this salon 2.5 weeks ahead of time. I made the appointment online for an arylic refill with designs and paid a deposit. I asked someone to give me a call in the notes because I wanted to make sure they could do the design I wanted. When we spoke I stated that I was a bride to be with a photo shoot.The person who gave me the call was very helpful and professional. She gave me their email address to send my photo. I emailed it (Sept 20th) and received no response, so I emailed it again (Oct 2nd) and then I did receive a response and they said it would be no problem. My appointment was set for 10am Thursday (10/4). They even went as far to give me a reminder call on Weds evening (10/3), that truly impressed me.Sounds good right ?Well this is where things go south. So I am literally driving to the salon on the Schuylkill and I see an EMAIL notification. I saw it was from them so I get off the highway to check it and the email stated that the technician Keesha that was scheduled to do my nails was unable to make it in today and if I could come in later. SERIOUSLY NO! That is unacceptable and I had several other appointments following this one before my shoot. I did not see this email until 9:30am, when I was only 20 minutes from the salon. It was sent at 8:25am.I emailed back that this was unacceptable and asked if there would be someone there that could do my nails at 10 ? I then sent a follow up email with my phone number for them to call me. They did have my number however because they gave me a reminder call the day before. I did not receive a call back until 10:12am. I spoke with the co-owner Racquel who was completely unapologetic. She even went as far as to say what do you want me to do, you cant drag someone out of the bed and make them come to work Seriously? That is your response? This is your business and this is how you respond to a customer you completely screwed over. I dont believe she even gave me an apology. It took everything in me not to use foul language. I asked about my deposit and she said it would be returned right away, it was not returned until the following morning.I live in the King of Prussia area so this salon was completely out of my way and is in total about 50 minutes from my home. I made the appointment because I wanted to support a black owned business and because of the quality of their work I saw on their Instagram. This poor experience continues to fuel that notion that black owned businesses are unprofessional and sub par. Brown Sugar Nail Spa DO BETTER! Do not advertise that you provide a service if you do not have enough technicians. Do not require deposits and still be unprofessional. Do not be unapologetic and down right rude to customers you have screwed over! It is common sense. You are making us look bad!Another gripe I have with this salon is the deposit requirement. Ive never had to pay a deposit for a nail appointment and I find it a bit excessive. While I understand businesses want to protect their time, it is a nail appointment for goodness sake not an event space or restaurant.This whole fiasco wasted so much of my time and I ran late the entire day because of it. After the call I had to find another nail salon that was not sub par and could take me on such short notice for such an important shoot. It took me about 45 minutes to an hour to find somewhere else and park. Of course the quality was sub par because I was not able to thoroughly research but that will be another review.Overall, this was truly a lesson for me and I will certainly not pack so much into one day because unprofessional and inconsiderate folks can push back all your plans. I also doubt Ill be going out of my way to support unprofessional black owned establishments like Brown Sugar Nail Spa.Do not waste your time, gas or energy. Canceled!
