No free wifi. Its $9.99 a day so Im not sure why they advertise it as free. Its not. Water bottles are $3 each. Only on Saturday there was ice water in the lobby, but it was nasty tap water. 2 nights in a row there was 80-100 people at the barWITH OUT MASKS loud af until 2 am. Even with both doors closed we couldnt sleep. We booked a king bed only to be told when we arrived there were none left. It wasnt clean. It was so noisy. Honestly I hated it here and will never come back.
The hotel is conveniently located walking distance from main attractions as well as the wonderful restaurant Zahav. The cleaning and maintenance staff were wonderful and so helpful - we had a few snafus and they went over and beyond. That said, the front desk staff left a LOT to be desired. Picking up the phone being one of the simplest and repeated fails of our stay. They werent very friendly or helpful either. Also many guests staying there were older and the doors of the hotel are rather heavy. No one helped with bags or even the door. Guests helped each other even going as far as helping people with getting their bags to rooms. Extra star removed for that.Otherwise a nicer cleaner Marriott and definitely in a good location.
Good location, dog friendly with adequate grassy area across the street and garbage cans....i consider this important. Rooms are small and comfortably clean...they do the job if you are looking for a good place to sleep and shower but not big enough to hang out in. Overall I would stay here again.
Very stylish hotel and in a great part of the city. The rooms were clean, the bar downstairs had a great selelction, and checkout was easy.
The hotel double charged me for my stay and have been highly unhelpful in resolving the issue. Going on a month of being ignored by management when I try to correct the error.
I enjoyed this hotel. Clean, friendly staff and the decor is beautiful, especially the wall paper. The only reason I didnt give it a 5 to be honest, is because the housekeeper, came into the room at 8:48a.m. on checkout and checkout wasnt til 12 noon, other than that, I will stay again, when I do come back to Philadelphia.
I would stay again. Very convenient to where we were going. Overall noise levels were great, heard nothing in the halls until Monday resent morning and that was from one very noisy neighbor. Room was clean and comfortable.
Rooms were nice but had to take a cold shower because hot water didnt work.
Clean room, friendly staff, convenient location. We felt very safe staying here. Use the off-site parking - cheaper and super close. Only disappointed that the dining services weren’t open for breakfast and lunch. We were hoping to grab something quick and easy for our toddler for lunch one of the days we were there and that was a little easier said then done since most of the restaurants in the area don’t open until 3. Regardless, would definitely return.
Ashley at the concierge was amazing. Incredibly helpful and very kind. Rooms were great size, only downfall was we didn’t have a full sized mirror-it was cut off by the desk. Great location!
Great place to stay in old city. Walking distance to all the historic sites. Plenty of terrific eateries of all types and prices.
Different Cheesesteak #870. I didn’t hate this cheesesteak. I got it with everything. Fried onions, mushrooms and peppers. The extras spent a good amount of time together on the grill and really blended their flavors. The meat was decent. The roll and cheese needed an upgrade. Only $8 for Stacy’s Mom to make me feel good. Legal disclaimer - Stacy’s Mom is a beer brewed by Evil Genius brewing.
I arrived in Philadelphia earlier than expected and was delighted to learn early check in was available. We got to our room and it was still dirty, with hairs in the bathroom and the furniture had a white powder all over it. There were multiple stains on the carpet. I called customer service and they found us a new room. Again, it was dirty. I have traveled extensively and have stayed in many hotels and have only had to ask for a new room at a hotel once prior to this. This was my first time requesting a new room twice. While waiting for my third room, we basically were waiting in the second room with all our stuff unpacked while the housekeeping staff cleaned a third room for us. The third time was the charm but I couldnt believe it. The location was great and the staff was accommodating of my request for a new room which is why this place gets two stars. Wouldnt stay here again.
Very nice, staff extremely friendly and helpful. I recommend highly!
Nice place, service wasnt good....but hotel was nice
This is a nice Marriott hotel in a good location; I would stay here again. However, one of the front desk staff members needs a refresher course in customer service ( hence the 3 stars). The interaction with her at check-in was unpleasant.
Best fitness center Ive seen in a while. Real nice rooms. Great location. 100-percent would stay here again next time Im in town.
Positive: the Housekeeping manager was the only staff memeber that wowed us. Negative: Thermostats appear to be on motion sensors, causing the AC to turn off while you sleep, unless you sleep walk. Slamming doors all around.
Too much noise from the cars on the highway. I almost couldnt sleep from all the noise from the road and guests on aisle.. I will never stay again.
Our room was clean, the hotel was clean. Pretty quieter in the halls of the hotel which was great. The staff was very courteous & friendly. Would stay here again.
Let me tell you some thing that travel agents dont want u to know. When booking places use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ They easily have the best deals on resorts! So much better than using expedia, priceline, hotwire. Take my word for it!!!Loved the customer service and experience. Really nice room. Great location.
Loved the customer service and experience. Really nice room. Great location.
Great fun, lovely experience. Staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is a great spot if interested in the historic district of the city.
From the second we arrived, up until we left - this was some of the worst hotel service I’ve ever experienced. The staff was rude and unhelpful, the guy at the front desk essentially hung up on me when I was listing my complaints then threatened me and told me to “come say it to his face” when I called back. Very cool looking hotel, but not worth the price when you factor in the awful service.
It was nice and clean rooms are nice size and its modern. One of the best in philly
We had a very good experience except that our room door did not lock properly and we had a guy walk in on us. We were in room 3116.
We spent three nights here over 4th of July weekend. When we arrived, the valet watched my wife and I struggling with baggage, and standing five feet from the door, didnt open the door, but instead laughed as our baggage fell over. The same valet, during our entire stay, I watched do the same, and make condescending statements to other guests. There was one young guy that was helpful, as he directed us to a parking garage that can accomodate oversize vehicles for 1/3 of the $65 dollars they wanted to park it in front of the hotel. (1/2 a block away). The front desk staff was overall unfriendly and cold. We didnt get a welcoming feeling. They had us in the computer checking in for one night, despite a confirmation email showing three nights. When we got to the room, it was really small, and hot. Then we found popcorn and other debris on the floor between the beds, urine in the toilet, and on the seat, and a layer of dust on most of the surfaces. I went to the front desk, and they offered another room, but when I checked that room, it was no better, and we could hear loud music in the room next door.I went back to my room and James, the new housekeeping manager stopped by. I showed him, and he apologized profusely. I explained my concerns about the other room, and he asked if he could have a housekeeper inmediately come to square away the room we were already in, and offered us points on our Bonvoy as a good gesture. We agreed and a housekeeper was there in minutes and got all deficiencies rectified. (Good work James!)The only other complaint I had was the LOUD slamming doors. I made suggestions to James to get foam for the door jams, or teach the maintenance team to adjust the hydraulic tension bars on the doors. The location is great if you plan to explore Penns Landing, Independence Hall, and even the Liberty Bell. They are all in walking distance, and there are a lot of restaurants in the neighborhood. Old Town is great to explore! This would have been a one star review of it were not for James, as nobody else really wowed us.
Beautiful hotel. Clean and friendly. I am a huge fan of Marriotts in general!! Comfy beds. However it is a bit loud and you can hear others slamming their doors all day and night long..
Beautiful! Stones throw from Penns Landing. Close enough to walk to Independence Mall. Parking is $$$, but truly worth it!
Great hotel for the night life atmosphere. Bars amd restaurants are in walking distance. I really enjoyed my night out in old city with my hunny!
No coffee, $50 valet that isn’t there and can’t be reached. Apparently this hotel just makes people want to wake up mad, no coffee available before 7 and no coffee makers in the rooms. Definitely don’t stay here.
The hotel is at great location...very close to lot of historical sites and museums. Just 2 blocks away was lot of restaurants and pubs... the rooms were clean and the front desk staff and the security person was very friendly... the parking attendant however was so nice and he did not know much about the hotel surroundings. When u work in a hotel they need to know what is around the hotel specially what is at next door...
Great hotel...my only complaint is the $17.00 for breakfast buffet that was not very good.
The wifi signal is very weak here, cant complete phone conversations.
Rooms are very nice comfy beds and clean. friendly staff the valet is the bomb. Water pressure on the 4th floor blows
Nice hotel, clean, friendly staff. The parking situation is expensive though $50 to valet or the garage which is about $24 a day. Check out Han Dynasty restaurant walking distance from hotel great food!
Sleek & Trendy hotel in a great location! Clean!
Service is less stan stellar now. No access to the lounge. The person at the check-in was not nice. Not sure Ill come back.
Rooms a little small but the service in the hotel are beautiful actually have good people working the front desk
Rooms have no sound insulation. The center of the hotel functions as a bar, which makes sleeping rather difficult.
Beautiful rooms! Very conscious of social distancing and very clean. Staff friendly and knowledgeable.
Very nice accomodations! Their help are very friendly and helpful!
Good service very clear and quiet
So this hotel looks all nice and lovely. I booked a room through hotels.com and the first room I was given the AC didnt work, so I asked for a new room, I booked a room with a single king bed, but was given a room with 2 smaller beds, which did me a disservice b/c me and my lady like to utilize the entire surface of a bed when we get busy....m BUT the second room we were basically downgraded to was hotter than the 1st..... So they moved us again.... As soon as we walked into room 3, we were hit in the face with a blast of hot dry stank air...... The maintenance man came and looked and tried to fix something that he had no idea how to fix. All in all for a hotel being at the center of a major historical and tourist attraction it has to be the worst value Ive ever encountered. Next time I will stay at the Hilton or Sheraton. The Marriott has lost my business forever.Update...... So I reached out to the Marriott corporation and I got 2 emails back, but was not offered any reimbursement or even comped a night to make up for this horrible experience...Also its been 10 days and havent been returned the incidental fee..
Valet guy Nassir was amazing, hotel was very clean
Great experience, great room, great staff. Wish we stayed longer.
Not clean i feel bad 👎🏻
Hey, It,s a MARIOTT LODGE, Comfortable, clean. NICE!!!
Positive: Comfortable and relaxing room scheme modern look and feel very inviting Negative: Being a guess of color ethnicity some staff with same and other guess of opposite back ground made feel uncomfortable during my short stay. Did not manage to stay the whole night at hotel, returned in morning to drop off door key at front desk.
This is one of my favorite Marriotts. The hotel is new and in a fantastic location. The lounge was excellent and so were the restaurant/bar areas. The food and amenities were outstanding. The staff was attentive and extremely friendly. One of the best parts of coming back from sightseeing was that everyone you met walking in was very pleasant. You will not be disappointed during your stay.
Wonderfully friendly staff.. Pristine and lush rooms.. and an ambiance of sophistication you wont find at the hilton. 😊 🤷🏻♀️
Got cider and treats upon our arrival from long trip there was an awesome welcome!! Great location to walk to most of the well known sites. Very well lit and safe streets to walk early morning and late night as well as all day. So many great eateries nearby so come with an appetite. The winter special was a great deal to take advantage of since we were planning on exploring area and several passes included in package for dining, skating and activities. Will definitely come again!!
Nice private romantic mystique about the hotel and its upscale Nd quiet
Best team ever!!!!! They get things done! Thank you for an incredible experience during my stay! I wont hesitate to come back to Marriott Old City! Edmund & his banquet team, as well as Jonathan, Stacy & Fran did a fabulous job servicing a very demanding group of professionals and they did so with ease. So many wonderful people to recognize at this hotel, they are truly all stars of our industry!Thank you thank you thank you! Amazing hotel with extraordinary people!
Stayed Feb 13 to the 14 they charge me for wifi even though it states wifi is free. Never got charged for wifi before at any hotel. Now when i called they claim i had to be a member to get it free. Also when i ate at the restaurant at the hotel i was told i couldnt get a to go bag or box said i wasnt allowed to take my food with me that i paid for when i was not done all my food. And this restaurant is not a buffet. That is the only time i ever heard of something like this. Also there is no where to park so i parked in front of the Hotel and got a ticket. Worst experience i ever had a Hotel DO NOT STAY HERE. They just try and nickel and dime you to dealth and only thing you will get is a i am sorry. They will never get my business again.
One of the best Marriott properties I’ve ever experienced. Great bar, lounge, gym, and guest rooms. I love the little side rooms in the lobby. Perfect if you need a little more privacy or quiet time. The M Lounge is top notch. Quick and inexpensive cab ride to Center City. I would absolutely recommend staying here if you doing business in the city or sightseeing.
Positive: Location and cleanliness was great Negative: I was traveling on business. They advertise a business center but charge $8.95 for 45 min. Plus $2 a printed sheet. From a $----a night hotel. No thanks. Will not stay there again my jobs requires print5-8 sheets a day. Also said restaurant was
The hotel was fabulous.. but it’s the staff that made it even more special. People genuinely care for the customers.. This hotel had everything else going for it to.. remodeled, near historic sites, but quiet area.. a walk to Liberty Bell, Constitution Hall .. a walk through old city, cobblestone streets, 18th century row houses.. but back to the staff.. they are the best! .. place is beautiful... neighborhood great.. best restaurants right down the street, choice of a dozen restaurants within a couple blocks.. also bars and clubs .. I’ll come back to this hotel often.
Clean, friendly reception staff! However, we requested extra towels which were never recieved and we had no hot water for showers in evening! We reported this issue...it was luckily resolved the next morning by 9am!
Great location in Old City. Easy walk to restaurants and historic sites. Never had to use the car once we got there. A bit pricey for us and $40 a night for valet parking seemed high. Nicely appointed rooms. I would recommend the hotel to anyone. Staff was fantastic, pleasant, and helpful. Overall we had a great stay.
DO NOT USE VALET PARKING! We paid $50 to park car overnight and had all our money and second set of car keys stolen
Beautiful room and view. Its hard to park because kiosk doesnt not work u till 8am and the PPA is out bright and early to give tickets. I liked the atmosphere just parking situation is terrible. Better off on public transit.
Positive: I originally decided to only stay for a night but I extended my stay twice while I was there because of the great room and the nice staff. I really enjoyed my stay. The lady in housekeeping was sweet and so were the front desk staff.
Nice looking from the outside, room was okay, 1st room A/C wasnt working, but they moved me without issue, and in the new room A/C worked nicely. Parking is limited and valet is $50/night, so keep that mind. Nice area.
Rooms with a noisy climate control and I had a leak during a storm.
Positive: Its a nice hotel I like that the TV greets by name. Very comfortable Negative: Needs a bigger ice bucket loll
This hotel was in a great area! It was clean, even though there was a huge wet puddle on the carpet in our room that we kept stepping on (kinda gross). We also wanted to plug into our own device into the HDMI port of the TV, and we were having trouble switching the input. When we called the front desk, the attendant said I have no idea how to do that. I cannot help you. I thought this was response was very unprofessional. Other than that, not a bad hotel for a weekend in Philly.
Positive: The overall hotel experience was great. I liked the location and the hotel room set up. I also liked that it was near a tourist area, next to restaurants, bars and shops. Negative: The air conditioner made a bagging noise when you made the room cooler, and made unnecessary noises. Also the bottom part of the toilet was not wiped or clean (The bottom area of the toilet close to the floor. It had urine stains around it.I had to clean
I slept very good.
Went here for my cousins wedding. Awesome hotel! Very well maintained and very clean. The staff was awesome and helped with anything we needed. The bar stayed opened a little later for us too which was awesome. The food was amazing and the venue was great too
Positive: Very clean Negative: None
Amazingly clean!! Love the modern decor. Beds are very comfortable. Lobby is very impressive, beginning with the staff. Location is perfect: close to major landmarks and far away from big city noises. Absolutely would stay here again and recommend to others.
I scheduled my companys annual meeting at this hotel in the summer of 2019 while the hotel was under a major renovation. I was more than pleased that all the renovations were completed and beautifully done by our event in late February. I also found the staff to be very attentive, accommodating and friendly. This usually isnt the case in most Philadelphia hotels, but my experience at the Marriott Old City was truly outstanding. Contact Debbie Mossor at 215-238-6629 to schedule your companys event.
Great location. Waking distance to a lot of restaurants and a few bars. Hotel was nice and clean, friendly staff!
Worst customer service and guest satisfaction. General manager was unwilling to send a credit card authorization form for a reservation that made the same day because he is lazy and comes to work at 3 pm. Never will stay here again.
Avoid this place. The rooms are very dirty. No maid service and a broken toilet. All amenities are closed.Corridors do not have air conditioning, the temperature is unbearable.
Nice hotel overall.Cons:Room was a little small, but comfortable. Bathroom is small. Very tight if two people are trying to get ready at the same time. Amenities listed for the rooms are not accurate. Not easy to drop off your bags and park. Parking is very expensive.Pros:Staff was very pleasant. Common area bar was very nice. Great location if you want to be near the waterfront and Old City in general.
This hotel is simply at great place to stay. The newly renovated property is exceptional and the associates are even better. You feel like you are stepping back in time with the high level of service that they provide from the moment you pull up to the front door. The rooms, the people, the food and the facilities are top notch. I highly recommend this hotel for any trips to the Philadelphia area.
My Daughter and I planned a weekend trip to Philadelphia. Had a wonderful stay at the Philadelphia Marriott Society Hill. Staff is great - very helpful and very friendly and gracious. Beds are the best at Marriott. Very convenient location. Restaurant is nice - bar is great! So easy to get to everything from here! And close to great local restaurants.!
Overall our stay here was really nice. Our rooms was clean. The staff seemed pleasant. And it was in a nice area of the city to be able to walk around without feeling like youre going to be mugged. My biggest problem is that I ended up paying for parking when I booked the hotel about 5 months before my event. And I did not remember that. And I paid another 40 bucks for parking when I had already paid for it. I wish the staff would have notified me when I checked in to remind me about that.
This hotel is very nice, and the best Old City option for Marriott loyal members. The hotel is very clean, and the staff is amazing. There is a pedestrian-only bridge that goes straight to Penns Landing. Hotel dining is good, and the M Lounge is comfortable. It has good breakfast, snacks and coffee, and evening hours doeuvres. This restaurant does seem further from restaurant options than other old city hotels, but not more than a 10 minute walk.
Loved the design of this new hotel and its location. Amazing location within walking distance of so many great attractions and amenities and just minutes from the business district. Loved the REALLY large fitness center. The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. i HIGHLY recommend this hotel if you are going to Philadelphia.

Front desk a-1 service . Very friendly. Now the room they could do wayyyyyy better . Housekeeper needs to pay attention to detail cleaning
Perfect historic location surrounded bylandmarks, excellent restaurants, and cobblestone streets. The rooms are simple (TV was hard to figure out but Im sure that was our fault), the service was efficient, and the floor plan of the whole place is really well-thought-out.
Arrived at hotel to check in and was given key to room. Upon entering the room, the AC unit wasn’t working and the front of the unit was off and sitting next to the unit. It was 89° in the room. Front desk quickly gave us another room and the door was cracked open. We got inside and the room looked like someone had been laying on the beds and the alarm clock was upside down (????) I had no phone service so I called the front desk for WiFi who informed me since I wasn’t a Marriott member and had to pay for a WiFi package. I just paid after taxes and valet $300. I asked for a refund and the clerk obliged. My family and I got to the desk and told her about the door being lodged open and she explained her manager who was sitting there in front of us just went into the room to check it. He had nothing to say and we left. The valet was a great guy. He acted as a concierge and super nice. He should be the manager.
SURPRISINGLY AWESOME hotel. Was shocked at how nice and new the rooms were. Whole hotel experience felt very nice and upscale. Great place to stay if you are hanging by Spruce Street or staying overnight after a concert across the water in Camden (as we did)
Positive: Cleanliness and location Negative: I wanted a different room and more assistance with supplies.
We had a great stay. The building is beautiful, and the room was perfect. Super clean room with a gorgeous bathroom! Would definitely stay here again.
Great location and comfortable rooms. TV Cable not so good....was on the fritz in my room?? Nice employees and front desk personel.
Loved this hotel, modern/upscale meets historic. Enjoyed the bar/lounge, great cocktails and ambience. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Extra special kudos to Marquis who took care of our bags keeping them safe prior to check in and after check out and did it with a smile! Location is wonderful, we walked everywhere and enjoyed coming back to our comfortable bed each night.
We had a one day little trip to Philadelphia with a two month old baby and a mini dog. This hotel is dog friendly. I am very satisfied with their help (of course, our dog is very behaved as well). The location of this hotel is super good. You can park your car in the carpark near the hotel, and walk to almost every sight seeing spot from the hotel within 30 minutes. One thing that bothered me a lot is the location of our room. We stay in 4th floor (which I requested high floor). However, the room they assigned to us is next to the highway. As a two-month-old babys mum, I need to get up and nurse my baby quite often during the night time. Its very difficult for me to fall into asleep again in our room since the highway noise through the whole nigh really bothered me. If you want to have even better experience in this hotel - remember to ask them dont assign the room next to highway. :)
Positive: cleanliness Negative: the charge for parking was outrageous
