I would severely recommend against UV. Even before I moved in, I had explicitly made clear that there was an issue with my lease to the apartment staff. After innumerable calls and emails with the lease managers and staff, it was still nearly impossible to get a straight forward answer if any response at all. The phone operators were aloof and seemed uninterested in aiding you.It was incredibly frustrating to learn that the roommates I intended to live with would no longer be my roommates. UV does not notify you of your change in roommates. I specifically matched with 3 other people using UV’s matching website only to realize that UV places another random person in our room after one girl left without any notification. My former “to-be roommate” notified me that she was no longer living with me because UV had canceled her lease for the upcoming academic year because she had returned her keys for living there the past summer. I would not have known she was no longer my roommate unless she told me personally, which thankfully she did.Another component to my very poor experience with UV is that in order to pay for your monthly rent, you are given the choice to either setup recurring payments or manually pay at the beginning of each month. Beware there is a $20 transaction fee every time you pay even with recurring payments. And no cash is accepted. Even though UV may look like a financially conscious choice, I would think again. Not only does the mere act of paying your personal rent, UV also charges for gas, electricity, and water separately so make sure when you are making your choice to factor that into your budget. The living area is not well maintained. When we moved in, the entire floor was covered with a black dust that stuck to your shoes and feet. The chair that came with the living room was worn and the leather was shedding off onto the floor and anyone who sat on it. The window blinds were broken and fell down many times. We all have sent in many service requests and have not heard back from maintenance and it is almost the 6th week of the semester. The hallways of the apartments are dirty and have trash overflowing the walkway from the trash room. Laundry card machine does not take cards because the machine is broken and awaiting service. The walls are unfinished and were clearly spackled over. Desk greeters are rude and unhelpful. Maintenance requests are cancelled because of the lack of maintenance guys, I was told approximately 2 for the entire building. My bedroom door lock has been jammed and my roommates door started locking her in her room. The office was notified multiple times and took no action.Overall, if I had been able to give UV 0 stars, I would have. I regret thinking that University Village was a good choice and was saving me money.

I just want to start off by saying how wonderful and accommodating University Village has been though this tough time. If you are a college student worried about roommates, room transfers and so on, please give University Village a try and read my experience. To keep it short, what happened was I got Covid-19 in December from my inlaws. I ended up hospitalized from complications with covid, healed and recovered. After 3 months and a negative covid test, I wanted to go back and live whatever was remaining of my senior year at Temple University.Even though I wasn’t contagious, fully recovered, did not lead an irresponsible lifestyle, and it’s been a full 90 days since any covid symptom, my roommates are international students and are coming from a different cultural background. They made it clear that because I got hospitalized for covid, they held a deep sense of stigma against me for a virus I had no control over and believed somehow I was still contagious because I was hospitalized for severe covid a full 3 months ago. A very long story short, it was not going to work out, it’s my last semester, I’m not going to waste the time I have left trying to reason with them nor am I going to move back and then they would be uncomfortable and I would be uncomfortable.I reached out to the staff and Jorden through an email and explained the situation. She was very kind and understanding and went through with a transfer right away. It took about a week and within the next week, I transferred out of my old room and moved to a much better unit with a really sweet roommate. As stressful as it has been to go through the move mid semester, Jorden and the staff made this as not stressful as possible.I later found out from my new roommate that Jorden actually visited the different rooms available for me and really went out of her way to make sure our lifestyles matched and that the unit I was moving into was very nice and clean. I have to say through all of this, University Village, especially Jorden really went above and beyond to not only help me find a new room, but they helped me match with a wonderful roommate and a good environment. Thank you Jorden, all of the staff, and University Village!

Its week 2 of classes and my roommate and I still dont have our beds or bed frames. The management is disorganized at best, and negligent at worst. Theres little to no communication about the status of our beds or access to laundry cards to do laundry. Also, my room has a ton of water damage and was disgusting when I moved in, despite it being certified clean and disinfected. There are so many other issues, but these are the major ones. Id suggest spending a little bit more per month for a far better experience!

If I could give this place no stars I would. When it comes to maintenance they do the bare minimum. My toilet stop flushing and it took them a week to come fix it. They had to replace it and the new toilet they replaced it with was constantly running. I had called them two times to fix it and they didn’t. It wasn’t until I called for the third time that they came to “fix” it.(They didn’t) I wouldn’t have cared too much if it didn’t raise my water bill, which they have yet to fix. This isn’t the first time we had an issue regarding our water bill. There was an issue with the plumbing in our apartment which resulted in them trying to charge us $68 a person for water that month. We had to fight tooth and nail to get that resolved. They even tried to lie to us regarding the dates maintenance checked out plumbing. (I would be happy to provide proof)Maintenance also scratched up our floors from the times they came to “fix” things in our apartment, which I’m sure they’re going to try to charge us for it once we move out. I have also had misplaced packages and mail. If you have an empty space they will throw someone in there at random with little to warning. Which is understandable if the have more of a warning. The only good thing about this place is the CAs and the security guards. All and all I promise there are cheaper and more accommodating places to live.

My experience with University Village has been extremely positive. The building, rooms, furniture, and amenities all exceeded my expectations. However, the best part about my time here has been my many interactions with the staff that work here. This group of young men and women really go the extra mile to help residents. Any time that I have a question or need assistance, there is always a staff member ready to help. I feel very comfortable staying here and I plan to for the rest of my time at school.

Also, the trash on her floor was into the hallway there was so much. She is enjoying the experience despite the maintenance issues. She likes the free printing and gym. The laundry on her floor was broken and she had trouble finding another open washer. We will see what her experience is like going forward.

I must share a very bad experience with University Village. My daughter recently toured University Village at the time a promotion was being offered where the $75.00 application fee was being waved. My daughter went online to apply before the deadline to take advantage of the promotion. On the website the option for academic leases was an option to choose. My daughter chose this option and at the check out she was prompted to enter payment for the $75.00 application fee. We could not understand why it was not waved since we were applying during the promotional period. I called the front office and spoke with Jada and on a second conversation I spoke with a gentleman and explained what happened. Both individuals assured me they understand my frustration and that the website should explain Academic Leases are Not part of the promotion. They referred me to the General Manager Rachael Casaeli. Today she finally responded back and said unfortunately the special has passed and my daughter did not qualify for promotion. We tried to apply on the website during the promotional offer. As a parent this was a horrible experience since it was not explained to my daughter that Academic Leases did not qualify for the promotion and we did try to apply during the promotional offer. I am very disappointed with Ms Casaeli’s decision since we tried to apply before the promotion ended.

I used to not like it the first week I arrived mostly because of the loudness of the people playing basketball outside, but then I learned what this place was about. Every single time I had some type of issue, they were always ready to help and intervene (a special thanks to Pete). The people at the reception were very welcoming and the location is the best if you prioritize being close to campus. The room was quite comfortable and it comes with a lot of nice things. They took the COVID situation seriously and not one single person was got it throughout the year as far as I know. Overall, I am really happy with this place and if I were to stay in Philadelphia one more year, I would definitely renew the lease.

Im not putting one star just because the events were pretty cool and the people were nice but a couple of things:the walls are thinner than you think, theyll continue to charge you for stuff that is not in use (when the pandemic closed a majority of the facilities, they did not change how much you needed to pay, yet we continued to fund these services we could not use),they dont tell you this but they might end up opening mail you sent out that was addressed to someone else! I sent a $400 check off to someone to pay off something, it accidentally got sent back to UV, they did not read that it was NOT addressed to them, and they cashed it for my rent! There was no denying it was not addressed to them and even though they offered to pay it back, it would take weeks to get the money back so there was no point. You pay $800 for an apartment with someone else and no living roomThere is a safety to this place and it is conveniently located near CVS but you would be better off getting an apartment with your friends and buying furniture. Before someone tries to say I never lived there because my name doesnt show up, this is a fake name.

The facility has been very responsive to any issue I have had and were efficient in helping me with any task. The furniture in the rooms are very modern and they are installing stainless steel kitchen appliances this summer! I feel very safe and comfortable living here, due to the security at the front desk; which is important to me while living in North Philly. Horrible staff. Manager. Assistant Manager. AGM. GM. This is advertised as a deal for Temple students but most of them struggle to even pay for the one bedroom let alone having to incur the whole cost of the apartment by themselves. This place doesn’t support individualism. When I first moved in, I was greeted by guests who had clogged up the sink two weeks prior to me moving in. Also every staff person has given me trouble since I’ve been here. Examples include threatening to evict me. Hounding new about paperwork for my support animal before I actually moved in to my apartment. Most of the staff tries to stare me down and intimidate me. I keep my head held high because we are all on the same playing field. I hope this reaches to corporate just based off of how unfair I was treated.

WARNING: UNIVERSITY VILLAGE IS ABSOLUTE TRASHI lived here my sophomore year and i loved living with my friends. we kept the place as clean as possible, so it was a surprise for us when the first guests we had over were the ants in all of our cabinets. we enjoyed the non functioning furniture; with a broken microwave and a dishwasher that gives you back leftovers. a suggestion might be to buy paper plates and plastic utensils. The whole building constantly smells like mold. As well as occasionally, depending on your side of the building, you will have dreams that you’re going to be hit by a train. You will be woken up by the trains that go by every 3 and a half minutes (I have timed the trains and it’s pretty accurate). My stay here at UV had been nothing but fun. the security guards are truthfully the best thing this building has. the gym is great until you have 3 other people in it and have to wait in line for machines or weights. overall i give this place a 1 star because of the guard staff being the most kind and genuine people you may meet that works here. you can trust me; i am a student living like a rat in a box. thank you for the unnecessarily high payments.**Fun update! Unfortunately I lost my keys so I had to pay $100 to get spares (a set of 3 keys). Its been months later and despite the fact that Ive been told on THREE separate occasions that they will email me when the keys are ready, I have never received this email. The first time I inquired about it, they told me that they never even put the work order in. The employees are extremely unprofessional and have no idea what theyre doing. Thank you SO much University Village for stealing $50! Will be investigating this further and taking any legal action necessary.

University Village is a great and affordable place to live! I was looking for a place to live when I transferred in the spring semester and found this place from a friend. It was a smooth transition, the leasing process was so simple and I was placed and given roommate information in a timely manner. I was a freshman and worried that not having the dorm experience would take away from my college experience, but UV definitely didn’t stop that. I was placed with great roommates in the shared floor plan. We unbunked our beds and had a cute set up.I loooove the gym here, it’s open 24 hours and can get crowded in the evenings on school days, but it’s easy to find a less busy time. I also utilize the study room all the time. UV offers parking and it’s one of, if not the cheapest, option on Temple’s campus. I used to park in a garage on campus and now I park here and financially it works out a lot better. I renewed my lease and now live in the Deluxe room. The shared was great freshman year and now I enjoy having a bigger space since Philly is becoming more of a permanent home. It works out that the lease is 12 months because I am here in the summer anyways. I’m attaching pictures of my old shared room and living room. Thank you UV for a great experience!

I’ve lived at University Village going onto my 3rd year and I have had no problems. Let’s start with packages because your probably gonna be sending your son or daughter some toilet paper, underwear or snacks. Immediately when USPS or Any other delivery system brings the package, they send residents emails to come pick up items. Very fast and they stay open late. Let’s talk about security next . They are so friendly and they do hourly checks just to walk around and patrol the building . Room size and beds, you really will get the best for what you paid for. They also change the air filter stuff every month. The working people will kindly knock on your door, change it, and be out of your way. Workers at university village also respect your privacy. I’ve been staying here and have not been mad with them. Anything wrong with my room . They are quick to help and fix it. They are the best at what they do .

Don’t bother looking into the early bird special if you decide to renew your lease, instead of saving only $10 a month, you can wait until the Fall semester is starting and save around $100 a month instead. Also, if they move you in on the 23rd of say August, you’re still entitled to pay a full months rent (that could be $800 for only 9 days). The staff (most of them) are really awesome as well as the maintenance workers and security guards. There are a lot of cheaper places you could live at on campus, avoid this place if you can, unless you like headaches.

The workers they hired to redo the floors (which should have been done over the summer) are lazy and incompetent. The flooring overlaps with each other and you can see the old floor in some corners because they did not measure it all properly. They didn’t even tear up the linoleum in the kitchen properly so now it looks and feels like there’s is a ramp. Also, they said that they would have people watching over the workers while they got stuff done, but that was a lie. They were there only for a little while and every time I came back to my room, the workers were there with no supervision. Don’t be surprised if you have stuff stolen while having work done on your apartment.

The staff is always cheerful and ready to help (even when i locked myself out of my room right as the front office was closing). Did i mention how nice the location is? A block away from the campus police station, on a street lined with food trucks and nice, college atmosphere restaurants. I couldnt ask for a nicer, safe atmosphere. The single bad thing i have to say is its a little pricey for the relatively small room size (I live in a double). Overall though, its a great place to live and i have been very happy for my time here.

I lived here for 3 years and loved it! The staff is so friendly. Management is so helpful, especially Ms. Bailey who is a delight! Work orders are always completely in less than 2 days! I love the curtesy officers at the front desk, especially Tahira! Definitely a good pick! The building is so close to campus and you get a lot out of the rent you pay: gym, fully furnished, reserved parking, game room, and study area!

UV is a pretty high quality housing option for people looking for a place off campus with some more freedom than living on, as well as as cheaper rate than on campus housing. WiFi is solid and its quite close to the septa station and multiple bus stops. Not even a 5 minute walk to campus. Quality option.

Please fix your WiFi. It has been god-awful for the past year, but now it just stopped working entirely. Upgrade the overall package if you need to. You guys are so cheap, it’s ridiculous. Charging luxury prices for a place that is absolutely not.

UV@Temple is a great place to call home! UV@ Temple offers superb student living options for College students. They are located just steps away from Temple University with fully-furnished apartments. It is a really nice property with nice amenities. The customer service was top notch- the Leasing manager, Alyssa, assisted me on her personal time so I could do an early move-in due to my commitment to Temple Athletics program. The entire staff always greets you with a smile and they are very helpful to the needs of residents. They are quick to resolve any problems that arise. The grounds and facilities are kept clean every day along friendly 24-hour security officers.

This is our first experience with an apartment and I am very unsatisfied with this facility. The fees and additional costs that are not expected are out of control and rediculous. The owner of this property is collecting a fortune from ripping people off. I recomend everyone to look around before renting from here. Read the fine print. Know when your rent is due, what the late fees are, when they are applied and how often they are applied. Make sure you have enough money set aside for your childs water bill....a monthly bill will almost equal your 3 month supply cost at your house! Oh....no matter what they say you owe, it will not alarm them by the amount in any way until MAYBE your child pitches a fit to tell them how crazy high that water bill is, for instance....December, when the kids are only there for maybe the first 2 weeks ....90.00 A STUDENT, 4 STUDENTS LIVE THERE...THATS 90X4!!!!! Then there is electric, I wont even begin with this one! These kids are super excited to start a new journey in their lives, some kids become super depressed really fast, either way, they think they are grown and want to handle things themselves. They tell us parents that they got everything under control...and they may, but they are pry not questioning all the extras that they are being billed. I sure hope the students dont over look anything thing or forget anything because they will be sure to receive a bill for it. University Village, I hope you feel good at the end of every day. This one star that I give is for the students who work here that deal with frustrated people who call.

University Village is a good place to live for last minute housing or for a transition from dorm to off campus housing . However, maintenance is slow sometimes and there are unfair charges that aren’t fully explained while they have lost my signature lease. Otherwise, nice furniture and pretty living room. The bedrooms are very narrow and tight though.
