Joey (the owner) is a great barber, I have been in Philly for 4 years now and he has given me the best haircut I have got since moving here. He is also a great person to talk to when he is cutting your hair. Highly recommend Gents Barber Lounge!

One of the worst haircuts I’ve gotten. The barber ignored what I asked for cut some things too short, left others too long, and buzzed things that shouldn’t have been buzzed. The haircut is uneven and looked bad after I washed the hairspray out. Now I’m just waiting for it to grow out enough that I can get it fixed somewhere else.Edit: since I can’t reply directly to the owner, my appointment was on 2/26 with Albertson.

Amazing place that brings focusing on what a barber lounge should be. Relaxing atmosphere, great conversation, a place that allows you to enjoy a good time and leave with an amazing cut. I have been going to Gents since they opened and they have never let me down. They are meticulous and thorough with every cut!

Just came out of the barber shop a couple of hours ago. Cut looked good, but my neck and scalp burned a little. Dre was rougher with the electric razor than other barbers Ive gone to before- the process itself of getting my hair cut was actually painful. He also burned/cut me in multiple places with the razor, which he used on my skin without any shaving cream (basically dry shaving). Its been 5 hours and it still burns. I dont have sensitive skin and this has never happened to me before.He was very meticulous and took his time, but the burns are so bad I definitely wont be going back. (See photos )

Barber applied amalgam with his bare hands after nicking with a razor. City of philly (which I found out later) doesnt allow beard trims, yet its advertised on website and I actually got one done. Cash only. Honestly, I wouldnt suggest this place. There are certain PPE controls for straight razors and blood borne pathogens which were not followed at all. Sure, barber was friendly enough but I have no clue if his scissors or clippers were disinfected based on the way everything else was handled. Probably should avoid.

I’ve been here a few now and Dave normally cuts and fade me up he’s A1!! The shop overall welcome everyone as soon as you walk in. I’ve only been coming here for a short time but I feel like I’m part of the family. If you ever need a cut I would definitely recommend you come here. Every barber in this shop is great. The best of the best!!!

Joey the owner consistently running 1 hr late- puts people in chairs and then takes a 30 minute smoke break. Just asking that they value my time as much as they value theirs. Front desk lady is nice. Would not go again.

Terrible experience from the start. I did not receive the haircut I asked for and my barber began cutting and did exactly as I told him not to do. He was on Facetime with some girl the entire time.

Great shop. Laidback inviting atmosphere. Basement filled with games to keep you occupied while you wait. the cut i got was great too. I never have a complaint after I leave here. The free parking and free beer comes in handy.

Joey and his staff are truly great people. I stopped by last Sunday on short notice and was welcomed with open arms. Dre was my barber and did an immaculate job, a true master of his craft.

I recently got married in Philly and put my cut and shape-up in Joeys hands. I had never been to Gents before, so I put a lot of trust in Gents several days before my wedding.That is a lot of trust just based off of google reviews. The result, perfection. The fade was spot on and the straight razor shape-up was more than I expected. The atmosphere is friendly and the attentional to detail second to none.

First time I tried out Gents Barber Lounge. I am very impressed. The place is clean, everyone is friendly, and the haircut I received was top notch. Brandon, my barber, and I had a great conversation while he did an amazing job on my hair. I definitely will be going back to them!

Got a good cut here. I gave Dre creative control and he didnt disappoint. Great tight fade. A little rough with the straight razor left me nicked up a bit, but worth it for the quality cut.

It was my first time trying this place and Dino was awesome, great conversation and he had an amazing attention to detail when cutting my hair. Definitely going back even though they are about 45 minutes from where I live. Totally worth it.

I am updating my review in regards to the wonderful customer service provided by Gents Barber Lounge. Shortly after hearing about the poor experience I initially had, Joey, the barber shop owner, had reached out to me to work with me in changing my mind about the place. All I wanted was a nice hair cut, and Joey delivered. Even while having a group of about fifteen gentlemen, who apparently were all getting their hair cuts for a wedding ahead of me, Joey was able to get me in the chair shortly after the approved of scheduled time. After sitting me down, he was patient in working with me to get my hair exactly how I wanted it, and provided a quality cut, that I am overly satisfied with. Joey is a down to earth guy and is willing to work with you in any way, and I would definitely give him my business again. I still think the appointment system could use a little work, but the fact that they were so quick to rectify my bad experience here, just goes to show that this is a quality place. I would definitely recommend Joey for your barber shop needs.

My son, who was visiting from college and is 19 yo, got his haircut with Dre, who is supposed to be experienced, in Old City 2 weeks ago. This site is now closed.He has curly hair and needed a trim. He wanted to get the sides cut shorter and the rest cut 1/2 inch. He told Dre and Dre asked him what clipper size he wanted. My son told him he doesn’t know what that meant, told Dre and Dre decided to use a “2”.As he started shaving the sides, Dre very quickly buzzed his hair all the way up to the top of his head and buzzed the back of his head! My son said wow that is really short. You can see his scalp! Dre said next time ask for an “8.” My son was mortified but at that point had to let him buzz the other side because he could not walk out with half his head bald. Dan had a small patch of hair left at the top of his head. Dre scissor cut what ever was left at the top of his head and he has no curls left. It is so short it is sticking up. He looks like he has a bad mohawk.So Dre interpreted someone asking for short sides, cutting 1/2 inch off, as buzzing 3/4 of his hair off and leaving him a mohawk? Really?Dre should have known better. He knew my son did not know what the different clipper heads are and Dre should have taken time to explain.He is wearing baseball hats until his hair grows back.He was so distraught yet he still gave Dre a tip! He should not have even paid for his haircut. I complained. They offered me a gift certificate. What I wanted was my money back.*****UPDATE---By the way, I was only offered a gift certificate and not my money back so to the owner, you did not try to resolve and I refused. You told me you could not give me my money back so you deserve this review!!!

First time here: Overall a mediocre cut and fade had a visible line (I noticed the same on the person who sat in the chair before me). Though the staff was personable and friendly the haircut leaves a lot to be desired.

Chris did a great job with my hair when I went in. The shop is clean, the prices are clearly listed and reasonable, and the staff is relaxed yet professional. While I would suggest getting an appointment, I was able to get in right away just walking in.

The vibe of the shop is awesome and the guys are pretty chill. However, I had Tyler all three times I went (just out of shear bad luck) and not only does he talk too much, but he kinda sucks at cutting hair. He does this annoying thing where he pulls all my hair to the back left and chops of part of it, leaving a gaping hole in my hair on that side. Even the last time I went I told him not to do that, and make my hair pretty much the same length all around, and he still did it. Not wasting my money here anymore.

Talented barbers with a great sense of style, their recommendations have changed my style for the better and I’m glad I’ve made the change to come here. I have pretty bad hair but they’ve turned into something that’s looked the best it ever has.

Professional barbers who do great work

Been going there for a few months now, got my 2nd bad cut from Kyle. Asked for a fade got a high & tight with a bunch of visible lines. Normally wouldnt care too much but right before NYE. For $35 looking for a more consistent experience. On the plus side barbers and lady at the front desk are friendly, appts always available.

First time getting my haircut here and it was great, made an appointment in advance on their website with Joe. Very comfortable enviornment and was welcomed in with open arms by the staff. Joe and the rest of the Gents crew are the best in the city! Never going anywhere else again.

Decent haircut, but didnt listen when it came to the beard. Took way too much off when I said not to and to only shape it and give it a slight fade. Dry shave also which is new to me. 32 countries and this is the first barber to butcher me. Wouldnt recommend for beard ever

One time I booked an app with alberson and he wasnt there when I got there I had to wait for him. The shop should be more strict with barbers and their schedule, some barbers think they can show up at any time. Either be on time to receive us clients or have a different job instead. I did not like having to wait and I got to my app early. I wouldve not mind if he had another person at his chair but he wasnt there.

Great and friendly . Just walked in and they took me right in gave me a comfortable greeting and gave me a complimentary 🍺. Great cut and they even have a pool table and arcade on the bottom floor .dont get better. Will be back

Went there for a trim and they forgot to give me my credit card back - no apologies - well come back in and pick it up was the solution even though when I realized I was well on my way interstate without my credit card. No offer to post it to me or sorry about that etc. Pretty poor. The cuts were too expensive for what they were as well.

Expensive and not a gentle experience. My scalp felt rubbed raw, and I have lines of cuts left by the razor used. $35 (total, tip included) is the minimum you should expect to pay for a haircut here. I will not be returning and would not recommend this place to others.
