My bf and I ordered from here for the first time tonight and we were NOT disappointed! We both ordered the wings with baked mac and cheese (I chose double mac) and yams. The wings were seasoned perfectly, the mac and cheese was burnt on top just how we like it and creamy, the yams were perfect (not too sweet)…the best mac and cheese and yams we’ve had by far! The only downside was we ordered potato salad as an extra side and didn’t receive it but ended up getting a refund (through GrubHub). All in all the food was really good. Will definitely be ordering again.

My only complaint is the Mac and cheese. Its too creamy, lacks favor and also if they could avoid overloading the containers with the Mac. Once the lid close the Mac and cheese oozes all over the other food items. For example cheese in my Yams. One plus side THE BEST LEMON PEPPER WINGS EVER!

I have a few friends who highly raves about this place so i decided to finally give them a try.I have to say i have nothing but great things too say.The food was amazing….hot and fresh.The staff were very polite and friendly.Very professional.The staff even threw in some free wings and a side of black eyed peas to try just because they over heard me and my wife mention it in the conversation we were having with each other.

I ordered 2 Turkey wing platters there today for me and my sister and it was the WORST platters that we have ever had!!! The collard greens were not done and it was hardly any collard greens just alot of big stems and nooooooo seasoning, the turkey wings were horrible as well the meat was soooooo dry and the skin was greasy. Even the Mac n cheese wasnt good and I am livid because that was $60 down the drain!!! They used to have awesome food when they were on Rising sun, but they moved to a newer and larger location and now their food is lousy!!! I will not be ordering from there again EVER!!! And the only reason I gave them one star is because I had to in order to leave a review

First time eating from here my husband and children came by. He was referred by his coworker. The food was soooo good the yams were sweet, the cabbage was great, the mac and cheese was good except the top part I didn’t really like the crusty top, the turkey wings were good. We will give it a shot again. Everyone experience is different. I would recommend going early so you won’t get there and it’s like the bottom of the pan left 😂😂😂. Food is good…….. but the customer service needs work… It was my first time here and after my experience it might be my last. I walked in to order a platter and waited 25min for someone to prepare it when the food is sitting in trays right in front of you. One person could have quickly handled the walk in orders instead of having several customers wait there so unnecessarily with no regard for their time after paying.

Absolutely delicious !! If I could give more than five stars I would.. very clean establishment great customer service. Plenty of room in the waiting area for social distancing . Portions size are well worth it! Hands down my new favorite souls food place!!!

Ordered the fried chicken platter with Mac n cheese & string beans and a fish platter with Mac n cheese and sweet potatoes... the food was very delicious. I love that they give you your money’s worth and the food is on point. I want a huge fan of the string beans... they were hit but had an after taste. I’m still giving 5 stars because the food was good, Peoria were amazing, the food was well packaged with care in mind and utensils were provided. I was a regular customer at the former Trenton location. This was my first time visiting this particular Philadelphia location and it was not a good experience. Weird set up for ordering and you have to pay before youre able to see your food. We wanted meatloaf but they were out. Turkey wings were tough and overcooked and the yams were burnt and gummy. The best part of my large meal was the cabbage that was excellent. I bought three platters. $57.00 wasted. The cashier was rude as well. I wont be back.

The staff is friendly and professional. I have had the greens(has stems), green beans, cabbage, turkey wings, mac & cheese, barbecue wings, yams(can be too sweet at times) and meat loaf(ground turkey). I didnt really like the meatloaf-only because I like it made with beef. I dont like the yams when they are really sweet, but on a normal day, they are fine. I liked everything else. The food is cooked just right. FYI-They dont allow taste testing.

My mom and I were looking for Sunday dinner while we were staying the Philadelphia area for the weekend. The food was spot on. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. My mom had Turkey wings, rice and black eyed peas and collards. I had bbq chicken (only gave 3 small wings but I understand because wings are hard to come by these days) Mac n cheese, collard greens and candied yams. We waited 30 min for our food but that’s not much different than sitting at an Applebee’s for pre-made food. The pricing was good and although the staff wasn’t the friendliest they were very professional. I would definitely visit here again.

First and foremost, not many soul food places are giving the amount of food that you pay for. This place gives enough for dinner and lunch the next day! Wow! Everything was fresh, well seasoned, and hot! Fish and fried chicken perfectly golden. Baked Mac is cheesy and made by someones grandma! Yams were absolutely amazing from cut to flavor. I think I tasted a hint of ginger either way they were GREAT! Greens were seasoned well and had a nice small crunch. I do not like soggy greens and theirs were perfect! And also had baked chicken with lemon pepper seasoning it was amazing!!First time having them and will not be the last!

Mannnnnnn listen. This place is legit. The food is fresh and well seasoned. Nothing is bland. The portions are crazy big and atmosphere is modern and clean. The people serving you are friendly. Its very easy to miss the place as there is no real signage anywhere if you happen to drive by the place.

Today I purchased 3 platters and the food is usually pretty good. One platter had lemon pepper wings. When I got home and tasted the wings, they were so salty that the salt irritated my tongue and mouth. I could not eat them. I returned to the store and the store was packed. I patiently waited in the line and I presented the receipt and the food. I explained that the wings were inedible due to the salt. I had never had this issue before. I spoke to the manager and kindly asked if he would substitute the lemon pepper wings for turkey wings and he agreed. I then asked if he would provide me with a complimentary side due to me having to drive back to the store from a great distance and he told me that he could not do that. That is his purgative but apparently inconvenience to a customer does not matter. I like the food but there have been times that the staff has been condescending, indifferent and unprofessional but I tried to let it go. Like making platters while talking over the food while handling the food before placing a lid over the food. I once returned turkey wings because they appeared to be too dark and dry, as if they were reheated from a previous day. I spoke to the short heavyset woman and she disagreed with me about the condition of the wings. I politely asked her to look at the wings in my platter then compare them to the wings on display. She then replaced my order. I hope that the management can understand that although some people may try to get over and cheat the establishment, you cannot treat legitimate issues the same way you treat situations where people are trying to get over. Each situation is different. If a customer has an issue with the food, the manager should retrieve a serving of the food from the display and taste test it yourself to ascertain if the food meets standards. Why continue to sell a batch of food that may have been improperly prepared and inconvenience every customer that buys it. I like the place. I like the food but customer service is what keeps people coming back.

My family and I like their food, however they do not consider the customer . Portion size is one of their main attractions. There is a nonperson of color preparing trays who cut the portion down to half. I asked that she not fix my food after driving an hour and spending $70, I want what I normally pay for. I was discreet, however the cashier says in front of everyone, “we don’t do that here, you wanna refund?!? I can give you a refund! I would like to know what it is that they “don’t do,” I told her when customers were out of ear range, my issue was not about race but about the portion size, I was told she was doing it right and others have been fired for serving full portion sizes. No more needed to be said, I will not patronize their establishment again.Second problem, yams were placed on my tray which I did not order, I saw the girl taking yams out of a tray, did not know it was my order, when I arrived home I realized she put cabbage on top of where the yams were removed. No consideration of an allergic reaction.. maybe management need to look at how their customers are being treated,Response to owner: you can defend whatever you like, I do not need to lie, nor did I say portion size was an issue. It was the portion in which the young lady was serving which promted my request. You are making the assumption about her being “white,” as my problem when I never mentioned race. The food is good, well from what I able to get because in 3 visits they have been out of several items as early as 5-6 hours before closing. Also they dont open on time and the staff is not particularly friendly. Im trying to figure out what time to show up that doesnt involve standing on line waiting for them to open or modifying my order because the ran out of my desired item. The fact that the food is good is the reason for 3 stars instead of 1.

Food generally is excellent and very tasty and well seasoned. However, the staff is getting to comfortable and not keeping up with the flow and demand of the business. Running out of food is unacceptable unless within the last 30 minutes of service. They have the capacity to get much better and to be more consistent.

I got my monies worth, loved the Mac and cheese, the Turkey wings were good and I loved the cabbage. Everything was seasoned just right not too much but just enough.
