Lets start with the parking anywhere near here SUCKS! There isnt many options and the parking garage i found was not only super short 6 or less and underground. Then there was the fact i paid for fast pass. (Doors were to open at 6:30) I should have been 1 of the first in.. they opened doors at 7 and everyone went in together. The venue inside was small which isnt always bad except here. The bathroom was more like a hallway. Elbow to elbow and turn sideways to pass each other. Oh and add on the fact it was Philly and every road i tried turning down to be close to the venue was closed. 1st and last time here and i DO NOT RECOMMEND!!
A very nice venue to see a live performance. All of the staff were professional and friendly. The bathroom was very clean. I highly recommend this establishment.
Great night out at a concert. TLA is a fun, cozy venue. First time here and will be back again.
This is a really good intimate venue. If you come here to see a band you love, youll be close no matter what. My pictures are from the balcony because Im taller and my girlfriend was front row, so I didnt want to block everyone behind me. But I still felt really close to the stage and could hear everything perfectly!I was worried parking would be a pain, but theres a covered parking garage about half a mile away. General admission has plenty of space to pick from, while there are some reserved seats in the balcony. Honestly I feel like you can still get the best view GA! Start time was punctual, staff was pleasant, and show was great. Will definitely go back if theres a band I like!
Btbam was great... liquid death is exspisive water
Band was good. AC was broken. Almost melted to the floor.
I have tried over and over to see my tickets and have failed. The concert is coming up and Im afraid that I wont have proof of tickets. Google Pay is not working for me
Saw Ashley McBryde here and had a great time
Nice small venue to see a great show...
We visit this facility to see a concert. Its was jammed pack. I didnt get an opportunity to okay pictures of the inside of the facility due to how dark the theatre was. But from what my naked eye could see, I believe the owners may want to start renovating the ceiling, and upgrade the bathrooms to be a little more presentable and clean. Other than that, this place was a cool hangout.
Forever memories happen here! The best acts always play this stage when they come through town. The Theatre of Living Arts (or the TLA) is a concert venue located on South Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The venue, which opened in 1988, dates back to the early 1900s as a nickelodeon. Over the years, the venue has seen many incarnations ranging from concert hall to movie theatre to theatre.
The acoustics arent knock-your-socks off, but the venue is intimate and the staff is super nice!Im not a fan of the fact that the bar area can turn into a private party (behind the center deck seating), because it can be distracting for those of us who want to immerse ourselves in the music, but being as Ive only attended one event here, that may have been an anomaly.
Had to give five stars because I cant really think of too many complaints and now with the Troc gone this is probably the most consistent intimate Philly venue. Ive seen some of the best shows of my life here and would recommend all to see a show here
Great venue great shows.
Fun place and good bartenders
The TLA is a cool venue to go to. It has two sides of a balcony as well as GA standing room when you first walk in. It fits about 1000 people and our team has seen a number of shows here. Its right on South Street so theres great places to eat within walking distance and if you search for parking on side streets you can even park for free.Their security is pretty standard but most of the door guys are nice and their bar tenders are fast and make good drinks. In terms of venues in Philly this is a solid one.
It was my first time there. As small as it is when you walk in, the space is nice for a show!! I love smaller venues. It makes the show more intimate. The sound was phenomenal! My friends and I truly enjoyed our night! I am looking forward to going to many more shows here in the future!
My first visit was 2/21/2019 to see Alan Walk. Great small venue thats in a very entertaining and wild night life part of Philadelphia on S south St. Historically the theater was orginally Played 5 cent moves but when new owners took o e in 1988 and has been come a very attractive small venue concert hall. Over a 1000 concert since 1988. Great place for local area music, up and comer and headliners that just love a closeness with their fans you can only get at a place like Theatre of the living arts. I will Definitely be watch their concert calendar for a revisit.
Intimate concert venue. Access to off street parking lots around the corner and near to restaurants and other of South Streets famous tattoo options. Would attend a show here again if its not completely a sold out show. Easy access to emergency exits made it ideal for me.
Good small venue that actually fits a lot of people. Good sound. Security was great with the crowd surfers. Definitely going back, but wish theyd get some more retro punk acts in.
A bit too small
I used to love this venue, and they still have amazing acts that come through. However every single time I come here now, it gets more and more expensive. The drinks are just about outrageous but that can be expected. Now literally every section with a view is VIP. Not only were they trying to get $75 extra on a $25 ticket, but they were haggling on price. This is getting ridiculous and takes away from the experience. There are other venues in Philly that arent as money hungry.
This is the best grimiest music venue on South Street. My favorite Dr. Dog show was here in 2009 on my Birthday October 23rd. They all wore big plaid suits that matched the background. So may good shows, blues, rap, rock, metal n more. Can you say Big Freedia? Good times! 🎼🎵🎙🎷🎸🎹🎺🎻🥁
Amazing venue and cheap drinks. The concert we saw was amazing and highly recommend going her for one. Smaller venue and very intimate. I recommend getting her very early for good seats and standing location.
I had a good visit here to see the band Phosphorescent. The show was marvelous and there was a good vibe. The location is good with bars and restaurants all around. I was staying uptown just a few blocks and was easily able to walk home even though it was quite late when the show let out.Staff were polite and the evening was good all the way around. Good spot.
Its an awesome venue. Staff was friendly. If u go to see a sold out show, u will be smashed though. Good drink prices easy to find. There a parking lot at the end of the street if u cant find side street parking.
The establishment had an appropriate amount of space, and the amount of time it took to exit was rather quick. Lighting was decent however could be updated to newer tech. Sound was pretty good along with staging vs patron distance was leaning in favor of patron. Security actually did a good job upon entry and during the performance as well. Over all a win and worth a second go.
Great smaller venue. Ive seen a lot of good bands here and there isnt a bad place to be in the crowd. The acoustics are perfect for any type of show you see.
Ive been to this venue a few times for concerts. The last visit, my sister had a medical emergency. The staff were EXTREMELY helpful in getting them the help they needed, and they helped us get through the crowd so they could get some fresh air.
Confusing layout, every which way I turned I was told it was VIP areas. Figured it out after a bit, the only seats in the whole place were VIP only. Slopping concrete floors and no seats makes it not a friendly place for a person with a physical disability. Would have gladly paid extra for a seat but this wasnt an option, even checked with the people guarding the 3 empty VIP areas and there was no upgrade possible to get a seat. The seating areas stayed empty(zero ppl) all night until the guard moved 30mins before the end and everyone filled in them. Ps dont sit on the floor out of desperation, it is very very sticky.
What a great music venue. It used to be very dated and dingy inside but as of late they have made many many improvements to the place and it looks phenominal. The staff there in my experience have been awesome anytime Ive been there.
A small, relatively intimate venue that still has primo seating options for those willing to spend double. Multiple bars to keep your whistle wet. Security was ever-present and generally friendly and professional. And theres a $4 coat check, vital in the winter months. Lighting and sound were fantastic and even from the GA floor I had a good view (helps to be tall!). I like the TLA!
Went to see Cavetown, small venue so it gives a basement show vibe. Outside theres 2 sets of lines somehow when I went But all the staff were friendly. Heads-up Unisex bathrooms, but I believe theres a one person bathroom as well. Over all Id definitely come back.
