Dinner was very good. Presentation, flavor, portions were all on point. Due to a wedding we couldnt sit outside. We did sit next to a window with a view of some ships. Our server Gary was excellent. He had a pleasant personality and filled drinks before we had to ask. The ship has a lot of places to take nice pics.
Dining on a ship brought many expectations. They seemed to have a good reputation and many good reviews. The menu is on the pricier side which is okay as long as the food is great. Which it was, the food was delicious. The presentation of everything else however not so much. The bathroom doors did not have working locks on them, which was awkward. The staff wore tees with pink shorts, and I thought this place was supposed to be more high end? The service was really good, our waiter was great and good to converse with. Our drinks were poured into plastic cups, again why am I paying more when I get a greater presentation at Applebee’s? Wow, yes I went there. To conclude, definitely not recommending, unless you want to spend money on over priced dishes (they are good but I can find better for cheaper).
A full size ship that you can dine on. Really fun place for happy hour drinks! The inside is beautifully put together. All of the decor, wood finishes, and furniture fit the old ship theme but not in a corny way. Theres great views of the water from various windows, port holes, and the top deck.We went for happy hour. As of 7/23 happy hour wine/beer was $5 and select cocktails $6. We didnt eat any but the dinner menu was around $30 a plate and had a wide range of options.
Birthday celebration for my little sister. It was my first time and it was nice. The drinks were not tasty but strong so eventually taste doesnt matter🥴 The food was good but tge best thing about this place is the atmosphere. The crab cake was so delicious. My salad was delicious but the salmon was burnt on one side. I dont think it should cost as much as it does here but I really think its a location thing.
It wasnt what I expected. If anything, I was actually disappointed. Once we arrived our table was not ready so the host invited us to sit we at the waiting lounge. We decided to get a drink from the bar so we went to the bar and stood there for a long time without ever being acknowledged by the bartender who was way to busy cleaning the bar area which was very messy by the way. We never ordered a drink because it was time to go to our table. Once arriving to our table all I could see was spider webs and several spiders making webs in the wind and I hoped none blew over to our table. I was disappointed because the appearance of the Moshulu looked nothing like the photos Ive seen. Our red wine at $12 per glass was served in a plastic cup. How do you toast to your anniversary in this?!? I NEVER drink wine in a plastic cup. I was very disgusted. Our waiter was EXTREMELY wonderful. He was the most pleasant part of the entire evening. The food was also amazingly delicious. I just wish there was more things on the menu. Oh, it was so loud I could not hear myself think. Other tables were screaming with laughter having a great time I would imagine but It was very disrespectful to the surrounding tables. I wish someone would have asked the table to lower there voices. I just dont think I would return or recommend this place. I did not receive the experience I was hoping for.
Had an amazing experience here at the Moshulu! Not only was our server Charles an amazing waiter but he also made the whole experience one to remember! He sang (hes got a beautiful voice) and gave us the history of the ship and was such a conversationalist! Thank you again Charles for the amazing experience and I cant wait to return some day!- Camiryn & David
Overall, had a great experience, the dragon roll and bread appetizers were both amazing, as was my friend’s veggie burgers. Turkey meatballs were disgusting, they tasted like rubber balls and my friends Bloody Mary tasted like fish tank, so salty! Service was good but our server could have used some assistance when she got sat with a large party. Had a table right by the water which was great. Absolutely loved the interior, and the funky chairs. A little pricey but nothing crazy. It was a cool experience for sure and in a great location in Philly.
Arrived Sunday evening for a reservation made on Open-table one week earlier. Service was ok but slow, and I can’t deny the riverside view is good. We ordered from restaurant week menu. Didn’t expect that the tuna fried rice was a sushi, and we were not a fan of that. We ordered chicken tacos and trout/steak for courses. The tacos were dry, not juicy. The trout tasted good but watch out for thin fish bones. The steak, or short ribs, is fully cooked, not recommend. Overall, it was a nice experience to dinning on the deck, but the food taste definitely not meets the price, given that the regular prices are even higher if not coming around the restaurant week.
We had the best time at Moshulu! It was a great experience and the food was amazing! Our waiter, Gary, gave the best recommendations. More on Gary…what a wonderful person, he was so much fun and very knowledgeable on the menu. Moshulu is lucky to have him.I recommend the spicy tuna crispy rice and the oysters!
Stopped in looking for Oysters on a Monday. Beautiful setting and great vibe inside with some really great drinks. We werent too hungry so we ordered a few appetizers plus the oysters. Everything came out perfect. Best part was our excellent waiter Gary who went out of his way to make sure we had a great experience! Ill definitely be back.
The view off the outside deck is beautiful andthe waitress was friendly. The korean chicken for appetizers was delicious. My drink blackberry cocktail was strong the way like it. My steak was not good..i asked for well done and it was pink inside, it was sent back to be corrected...i ate some of it but noticed the rest of it still wasnt done .. so disappointed at that being it was a 54$ steak, they discounted the steak half price as i ate only the parts well done. Dessert was okay.
Our server was pretty knowledgeable about every dish. The food was great. Parking fills up quickly so arrive early. Our fish was pretty small so management switched with a better option and was lovely about the entire thing. If you dont like something drinks or food speak up they will fix it and again very understanding and ready to meet your needs. Turns into a club after 10pm. Which was interesting but ok.
Good food and good atmosphere. Obviously its an expensive place so the bills gonna be high. The scallops appetizer is really great i would recommend. I also got the swordfish which i also thought was really good. The tuna steak special was not that great. Didnt taste very fresh and color and texture helped to prove that. Otherwise service was good
You wanna take your spouse out for date night........ take them here! Located right on the water front within the Moshulu vessel, the restaurant is reach with the ships history. Walking over the bridge and into the main room, gives you a “dining on the titanic” feel. Whether inside the hull or on the deck, the Moshulu has beautiful views. The menu has extraordinary choices that will impress any date.
The atmosphere doesn’t make up for how bad the food or services is.Starting with drinks- I ordered a watermelon mint martini. It came with two fruit flies. Other then that, it didn’t taste like mint or citrus vodka. The watermelon overpowers the drink too much. With food- We ordered the Admiral’s seafood plateau (half mast), lobster bisque, and house made bread. Again, fruit flies continued into the condiments on the seafood platter. Overall, it was subpar for the price. We hate to say it, but we could have definitely made something better at home! Super disappointed.
The ambience (outside on the deck) really made this memorable. We came for brunch. Although the choices were limited, the food was delicious. Service was a bit slow, but the staff was very friendly.
I had to wait about 40 minutes at the bar to be seated even with a reservation. The food was good, but the portions could be bigger. The short rib sliders were delicious, and the Salmon was tasty. The views were great, but the service was average at best. I had a nice time and my date was happy, but I wont be rushing back.
Really cool place to have dinner aboard an old square rigger. The interior has been redone and its quite stylish. The food is good (not spectacular, but good--seafood and meat mostly), but the view of the Delaware and the boat itself are worth it.
Excellent Experience for my 6 year wedding Anniversary. McKenzie at the front was so sweet. She really went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. For appetizers we had the bread and mussels which were both excellent. The veggie burger was exceptional, one of the best I’ve had and the truffle fries were delicious. My husband had the sword fish which was also very good. After dinner my husband and I walked around a bit and made it to the top deck to overlook the river. Very beautiful even on a rainy night. I look forward to our next visit.
The restaurant week menu was lackluster and served on plastic plates/cups. My husband and I had a reservation for 9:15 and didn’t get seated until 9:45. I also had to go to the downstairs bar to get a drink which I was told was being served on both floors by the bartender downstairs. My server also casually suggested that I go downstairs after dinner to get the drink instead of accommodating me. So, I went downstairs to get the drink that I requested and spilled most of it on the two flight walk up. Such a disappointment and we will not be back for their overpriced surf and turf menu. This restaurant is not the best of Philly dining and you’re better off paying the same price and getting better food at the Charthouse next door.
My husband and I went to dinner here as our last real date night before our first baby is due. We were greeted immediately and sat promptly even though we were early for our reservation. We sat inside and had a beautiful view of the water. Our waiter, Rene, was fantastic: warm and friendly, made sure our drinks were always full, and gave great suggestions. The food was wonderful- we had the bread to start, my husband had the spicy tuna crispy rice as an appetizer and the swordfish and shrimp for dinner. I had the pacific halibut and would definitely recommend. We had the budino for dessert and the staff made the plate adorable congratulating us on the baby without them even knowing it was our special night out. Will absolutely be coming back!
Overall an okay atmosphere, particularly on top deck. Servers are generally friendly. Live music was nice.Food was hit or miss, some dishes were cold or felt like they were sitting out prior to serving.Negatives: Tables are too small for dinner with 4 people, not sure why they try to squeeze people in when you have reservations. Some cocktails are served in plastic cups, others are not. Dont think they should charge the price point they do when using plastic. Dirty dishes arent removed until you get your check.
Highly recommend. What a beautiful ship! The atmosphere is magical -- perfect for a celebration. We were able to sit on the deck because the weather was mild. In November, make your reservations for around 4:15 p.m. and youll see the river on one side, and the city on the other -- in all their glory while the day gorgeously transitions into night.Food was very good. Prices were normal for that level of restaurant. On a fun note, there is a porthole -- a little window -- high up in the first stall of the ladies bathroom, from which you get a lovely view of the city. ☺
Great food! Small portion! Nice atmosphere!Private parking lot available for $20. They have a couple of areas to host parties. The price is steep, so be aware. Lovely spot for a date, anniversary dinner or a birthday get-together. Definitely recommend it for at least one experience.Follow us @gettingabite on IG for more pictures and reviews.
My eggs Benny was cold and so was my boyfriend mac and cheese, which he didnt like anyway. My Benny was only okay. Ive definitely had better creme Brule. Everyone else enjoyed their omelets and meatballs. The service was great.
My wife and I went here two weekends ago and I believe Marcelo was our server. He was fantastic! Took the time to go over the menu in detail with us, made great recommendations, and even took us to the lower and upper deck for a tour as well as take some pictures of us with our son. The food and setting was perfect and I highly recommend visiting here as the ship provides an ambiance and setting that really showcases the water front. Marcelo provided high class service and I believe he told us he’s been there for about 9yrs. True master of the craft so when you stop by here ask for him. It will be your second best choice other than you making the reservations here.
DO NOT EAT BRUNCH AT THIS RESTAURANT.IT WILL RUIN BRUNCH FOR YOU FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.The last time I ate brunch here was in 2008. I have lived in 5 cities since then, and every brunch at the best place is just meh compared to Moshulu.Do yourself a favor and only eat brunch here if you are done eating brunch. Nothing will ever top it.
Went for a silent party, and had so much fun! The vibe was fun and no BS happened that night!
It was soooo amazing! It is classy and a unique experience! It is a huge elegant boat, it was stormy when I went so I ate inside but it was so nice! The food was wonderful. It is very expensive but it is worth it- high food quality and an amazing atmosphere! You do need to pay $20 to park but its a beautiful area to explore, I highly recommend!
Location and set up is appealing. However, do not visit if you do not have a reservation. As a walk-in, mid-day, on a sunny Sunday with the family, we were asked whether we had a reservation. We did not, so they would not have us seated even though the place had barely any occupants. In the meantime, we paid $20 for parking (labeled Moshulu), which they do not technically own, therefore the restaurant would not reimburse you. You would need to call an 800 number posted on the parking booth to see how to get your money back. Cannot comment on food or other services since we had to dine elsewhere.
We visited Moshulu today, they had a wedding, but they told us that we can sit on the bar! We sat down, we gave our order, but they didnt even bring us our drinks. After a long time, they brought the one dish of two. A burger which was not good at all ($24), without utensils or our drinks. We should go and ask for them. They brought the 2nd dish after 20 minutes maybe more! Its an expensive restaurant and its shame.
Great customer service. The food was absolutely delicious 😋 Great place for a special outing.
Definitely worth going for a cocktail and sitting on top deck. Food was OK but not moving in any way.
Since this girl got engaged last week, I figured I should rate the place we celebrated at: Moshulu!.Food Dating Scale Rating: Going Steady | nommingnay.com.Overall, the atmosphere is fun and the food was pricey but solid. I can picture this place being even cooler when its warm, and the walls are down. We had the foccia to start with, which was delicious, but definitely did not have enough bread to dip ratio. Buttttt, they did fix this quickly when we asked. I had the swordfish which was cooked perfectly and came with cheddar grits which were savory and delicious. To celebrate, we went overboard with the dessert. The creme brulee was a bowl full of creamy, vanilla goodness. The sundae was good. Ive had better ice cream but the brownie was chewy, which is a plus for me..Basically, if you want to feel like a cool kid and have a fun dinner, Moshulu is a good choice.
Very enjoyable experience. Their crab cake is very good. The crab cake entre comes with fingerling potatoes and a carrot slaw. As much crab as you can have and just enough cake to hold it together. My girlfriend enjoyed her caprese salad and spoke of the high quality tomatoes and mozzarella. She also enjoyed her spicy guavarita. She wished the fish in her ceviche was more chopped however. Overall very good quality and attentive waiter. We both had weird billing problems as payment triggered fraud alerts on both out cards and we have two different banks. Manager gave her card and number if there are any issues. Not sure what was going on with their computer system that night.
We went to Moshulu and just tried everything. How can a place have a menu where just everything is good??! Talk about heaven. Food is incredible. Ridiculously incredible! Do yourself a favor and dine here if you’ve been dying to go. Just go. No regrets. Yummy !!!!
One of the coolest places to eatThe atmosphere of being in an old up class sail boat was amazingWe had the pleasure of sitting on the deck, paired with perfect weather was wonderfulOur waiter was spot on and made some great suggestions on good drinks ( weekend warrior is a must try and is strong)
Great seafood and stunning view of river if seated on the deck ...
This was our first time here for dinner and what a disappointment. Our food was bland and minimal. My husband ordered fried chicken and it came with one small piece of chicken. I had the crab cake which was plentiful but tasteless. The crab cake was served with fingerling potatoes. I got two halves of 1.5-inch potato and one half of a two-inch potato. I also ordered the broccolini and I dont know what they did to it, but the flavor was awful. I couldnt eat it! The atmosphere was nice, but the food is totally overpriced. Philly has much better restaurants. Dont waste your time on this one.
Just came here tonight for a birthday party dinner during Covid.Everyone was super safe, felt very comfortable..first time here and I enjoyed myself.Staff was friendlyOur waitress Rebecca, was really nice and the food was great!
The Moshulu has a place in my heart- due to the fact that my husband and I were there when he asked me to marry him. We have been there a total of three times, since it is an entire experience-- and out of our budget range for an everyday dinner. The food and service is exquisite, and everyone should enjoy this beautiful boat/restaurant at least once in their lifetime. The swordfish is heavenly- and the atmosphere is like none other. When we had dinner for our anniversary- the staff brought out a dessert plate with happy anniversary written in chocolate sauce next to our creme brulee and chocolate cake. It was the most kind and thoughtful gesture ever. We hope to come back for our next anniversary! Thank you, Moshulu!
All that I can say is… I expected much more and was immediately disappointed and turned off by how dingy it was inside… the chairs were dirty and stained (I was wearing a white dress too), our menus (which were cased/lined in some type of gold metal) were dirty and needed to be wiped down. I didn’t even want to touch it, I mean we are in the middle of a pandemic… and my husband and I were sat at a table for 4 away from the view when there were plenty of tables for 2 with a view available. Once we got to our seat I asked the hostess could we sit at the table by the window but was told no because according to her “they were busy” I immediately expressed to my waiter how dissatisfied I was coming in and we were moved to the table of 2 with the view of the river like I originally requested (thank you 🙂 but the window was dusty too). However, my husband and I did not stay, we got up and walked out before we could order anything. We are in a pandemic and it looked like nothing there had been sanitized or cleaned in months, I didn’t trust the food coming from the kitchen after seeing the dining area and just did not want to spend a lot of money for a bad experience. I’m never the type to give a waiter/waitress a hard time but since I was not impressed walking in I felt like going down the street for tacos (which was excellent btw) was better for us last night. For someone who’s been dying to eat there for years, I was really disappointed! Honestly, I want to go back to see if this was just a bad night but I’m not sure if I would. And I feel bad because the waiter honestly wanted to fix it and wanted to leave a good impression however that could not be by him alone. I cannot critique the food because I did not even get that far…. And one last thing, I wanted to sit outside don’t know if it was an option but we were never asked where we’d prefer to sit. I think that’s important when you have indoor and outdoor seating available. I’m just saying…
My husband made reservations for our anniversary. And we drove from Michigan to visit. My mom in law suggested Moshulu. The experience was mediocre. We dressed up for the occasion. But, I could have worn jeans and a t shirt. I, having never been here, expected at least one menu item that was unique to the restaurant. I could have ordered from any restaurant in Philly and had a burger or a steak. The drinks were strong, the food was meh, the view was ok. Just not impressed. My hubby and I wont eat there again.
It was tough getting our reservation by phone. No one answered until Sunday morning after a several day try. IT was worth the effort the food was superb and tour waitress friendly and proficient.
Birthday Dinner. Pricey but worth it. The ambiance, outdoor seating, definitely will go again.
Beautiful historic restaurant now on its third name. Have to have a reservation. They play live music during the week. Parking is $20 so try to find it elsewhere. Definitely worth checking out! Jazz night is worth it.
Food was good. Service was nice. Beautiful setting. Loud. Will go again.
Meh! Mediocre overpriced food. Limited choices for condiments and very basic decor
We sat at the bar. The bar tender was great. The drinks were so delicious .
This place is fantastic! The food is always delicious and the service has been outstanding. The staff always ensures that you have the best experience possible!
I went with my family to enjoy the restaurant week over Moshulu. It was our first time there so we were pretty excited! The parking in the place is insanely expensive, so be aware. The ship is beautiful but the outdoor seating is partially close, the nice seating that you see on the reviews were not available so you are seated outdoors but in some uncomfortable tables. Our first waitress was kind of rude. We were trying to move to another table, which was empty, since the sun was hitting us, but she was not willing to help and was rushing us. Our second waitress was way nicer and welcoming. The food was ok, nothing impressive. Desserts were yummy and drinks were good.
We went here for my birthday, and had Rene as our waiter and he was spectacular! I would come back again with him as our server. Pro tip, get what he recommends!
Fair menu, unique location. Wanted to go to The Deck but it was closed for private party. Settled for here.
I was disappointed with my visit. I went with a group of 12, however the initial seating arrangement was just thrown together next to the rainy elements and not thought out, until finally we were moved into a private room that was much better. Our waiter Marcelino was great, however it went from fair to poor when there was a hair baked into my bread order. I wasnt charged for the bread however it left a bad taste in my mouth literally and figuratively. My swordfish and shrimp wasnt seasoned that well and I was over it at that point. My other guest had different experiences, some good and others fair, but I was not happy, especially since the prior two times I visited it was a great experience. I wouldve had pictures of my bread with the hair, but I sent it back right away. Unfortunate.
Amazing place for a wonderful dinner. 4 stars only because of price. But worth it for the ambiance and the food is amazing!
DELICIOUS FOOD! For appetizer we had the crispy calamari. It was delicious, fresh and the tartar sauce was so good! I ordered the crispy skin Atlantic salmon, it was AMAZING!! My partner ordered the center cut filet mignon, it was great and it was so soft that you could cut it with a butter knife. The views were amazing and the staff was very friendly. I definitely recommend this restaurant. Will definitely be coming back!
Waiter was great. However, when he brought me my bisque, there was paper in it. Maybe wrapping from whatever it was in? He was mortified and rushed away with the bowl. He handled it well. The creme brûlée was average. Moshulu used to be one of my favorites. I dont think I will be returning.
Made a reservation, we were sat.. then waited closer to 40 mins before any waiter/waitress approached us to take any orders. Others tables were waited on a few times while we still waited to find out who our waiter/waitress was. Then when we ordered a drink, non were available and I ended up ordering a least favorite. To end the horrific night, we didnt know that the area was going to turn into a night club and though we were already there, spending lots of $$$, we still had to get up and get in line to pay to stay for the night. It made no sense. As beautiful as the boat is, I wouldnt recommend it to others. Great Food but Bad Service.
The food and staff are excellent, but minus two stars for the lack of umbrellas on the upper deck. I made reservations for brunch and had to wait an extra 30-mins because they didnt have a table that wasnt fully exposed to the sun. On a hot day this is not fun, not to mention a sun cancer risk. Plus, during our meal we had the pleasure of hearing two other tables complain to mgmt about being in the sun and then them shuffling everything from one table to the next trying to find relief.
Everything you can expect from this classy, historic landmark of Philadelphia. 5-star service, attention to detail, ambiance, and top selection of food and wines. The upscale price is totally worth it. I recommend visiting the bar located on its deck, and enjoy the views of the Delaware River and Penns Landing. In conclusion, this is a perfect place for special celebrations.
Do you know how to cook? Neither do they. Youre attempt will be just as good and 1/4 the price.
Really great atmosphere at Moshulu! It overlooks the Delaware river and the Camden waterfront. Amazing views at night with all the lights. The food and drinks are great as well. It is a fancier establishment, steaks and fish. But also simple cocktails and apps. Great date night spot!
Had reservation for 2 on a Saturday night at 8 (07/17th). Got a table at the corner. It was extremely hot where we got seated. Asked the hostess if she could move our table cause I could not sit in that kind of temperature. She said she could turn the air. Our waiter came and first thing I asked was for him to turn up the air cause it was extremely hot and he said hes on it cause someone else complained. It was so hot and plus Im 6 months pregnant and I was not happy. Whatever. We ordered drinks and appetizers and our entree. Food was overpriced and was not worth it for the price point. Our waiter was distracted most of the night. Maybe cause there was a fraternity party they were hosting. I had a lovely view of drunk college kids going in and out of a single bathroom, a college girl drunk crying while her friends tried cheer her up. I didnt mind so much of the frat party cause I love seeing people have fun but I couldnt enjoy any of it or my food or people watching cause the air was so hot. Even when the waiter did come back he complained about how hot it was. No sh*t. I complained twice and nothing happened. I left disappointed with how much the bill was when I couldnt enjoy any part of my night.
The ship was cool, but they wouldn’t substitute a side of fries for vegetables or reduce the spice level of a dish. Just not very customer forward. I felt like they wanted me to be grateful I got to eat there and they couldn’t be bothered with questions or substitutions.
I attended an event that was hosted here. The event served drinks and appetizers. After the event a few co- workers and I attempted to get food but was told we need to see the host. It was after hours, so I was not going g to walk two stories down to ask a host if we can get a table when there are clearly many tables available . Horrible customer service. I will report this incident to the event organizers.
Awesome place, amazing staff, and delicious food!!!! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and courteous. We will definitely be back!!!
Went to a party here, beautiful boat, plenty of space to be outdoors comfortably, and the staff are very respectful and professional. Pricey but beautiful views and experience.
Everything you’ve read about the bad customer service experience is accurate. I wish I would’ve trust my gut instinct and made reservations to celebrate my mother’s birthday at another restaurant. Table was given up while we were being held up in parking lot and standing literally in line to give hostess name.
We had a party of 10 that turned into 11. The hostess was accommodating in adding another table and seat for us. At first our impression wasn’t that great as we waited 45 mins before our server even came to take our drink order. We were waiting for the rest of our group however acknowledgment would’ve been better than not coming to our table at all. However, and why this deserved all the stars, we had a good time and the food was good and our server turned out to be great. They did run out of turkey sausage and we had five people who ordered turkey sausage. Only one order could be fulfilled. We sat on the top deck which was nice and scenic. There’s bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary at $18 and the brunch items range from $18-$25. They have first course items. They range as well around $18. The cocktail shrimp are huge and there’s only three but it’s worth it.
Beautiful view! Great menu options too, I recommend trying the oysters. I dined in for restaurant week and the server was super nice.
Gary was a fantastic waiter. Food was excellent. Gary deserves a raise !
Excellent! The food the service was beautiful if you live in philly or visiting you have to go there
It was ok I really had fun other two times I went but last night was ok
Birthday Brunch in great location on the Top Deck. Very good food, friendly and attentive waiter.
It was a fun experience. We saw the Murder Mystery Theater and the food was great. Well be going back there again over the summer.
Atmosphere 5⭐service 5 ⭐food 5⭐
I didnt actually dine there. I went to a freedom party that was so much fun. Great dj. Mature crowd. Alot of dancing and good drinks. Event brite lists all the events in Philly and the freedom party on the moshulu is one of them.
