If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. LOVE the Magic Garden! Worth every penny (its $15 to get in) - I shared way too many pictures, but only a fraction of the ones I took. I couldnt make up my mind! If youre visiting Philly, this is a definite must-see. (actually, the entire South Street walk is highly entertaining!)

Beautiful gem of an art installation in the middle of Philly. Zagar spent decades constructing this extension of his then-home by hand; it eventually became a non-profit and a full-time art space. It feels a bit maze-like with its winding rows and different levels, but you never feel lost, just immersed. Theres also a standing rotation of other folk artists featured in the space, as well as a gift shop offering certain pieces for sale.Definitely a must-see in Philadelphia!

Pretty cool place to check out if youre in the area. Very artsy and creative. They reuse tiles, bottles, mirrors, and other materials and glassware to make colorful artwork. However the gallery is rather small and does not justify the price for the ticket. Despite that, it is great if you have small kids as they will be enamoured with all the colors and shapes. Great to enjoy with friends or family.

More interesting than I had expected. He was just starting to decorate the lots and walls on South Street as I was growing up, and honestly I still am not a fan of the adornment consisting solely of broken mirrors and ceramic accompanied by random but generally positive verbiage, which is why Id never visited before. At this location, though, theres a lot more depth. The incorporation of sculpture and artifacts is both more interesting and more revealing. The scavenger hunt they offered the kids is a perfect supplement. And the brick tuffets are cool. We had fun.I wouldnt mind if more of Philadelphias vacant lots regrew into this. Make a Polish one next!

We had so much fun talking with one of the volunteers. She taught us all about the artist who has dedicated his last 30+ years to the mosaic art. This magical destination needs to be supported by everyone so they can keep up the good fight for art in Philadelphia. You will see all mosaics in the south street area and other sections of the city were done by this same artist. Enjoy what you see here and find beauty in his creativity!!!

You have to buy your ticket online.. it’s a nice attraction.. it hasn’t changed much.. I visited in 2018 with a friend and now 2021 with my girlfriend.. it was fun but the whole thing can be seen in about 30-45 mins.. you get a discount with a student ID.. around the building has a Batman graffiti logo

Historic churches, fire houses, and other buildings line the streets of this beautiful community and invites all to come and enjoy!!! Well done Philly for sustaining this historic wonder.

Unique place right in the middle of the city. I had been getting recommendations to visit this place and it didnt disappoint even though you can see the entire place within 30-45 mins. If you are interested in taking lots of pictures then I recommend going on a weekday but if you are planning to visit on a weekend then walk around few times coz the place is quite small and there are people in every corner. Make sure to also check the indoor exhibition. Staff is nice and friendly, if youre in Philadelphia, do visit this place!IG:- journey_man16

This is such a neat little spot in the middle of the city. Outside the gardens themselves there are also mosaics spread throughout the alleyways on the sides of buildings to search for afterward. The website suggests spending at least 30 minutes, but we were there for about an hour and a half comfortably. I really suggest trying out the scavenger hunt; Not only does it add some extra fun to the experience, the scavenger hunt draws your attention to individual features of the garden rather than just looking at the beauty of the garden as a whole. There is shade, seating, and greenery within the walls to relax and admire, but would just be cautious of some narrow, somewhat slick stairs and some slight crouching. Was such a great experience and will definitely be back for more - hopefully a different scavenger hunt!

You pretty much have to get tickets in advance. If you show up, you may have to wait a while. Its not the end of the world since theres tons to see on the street, but you may end up hanging out there a while.Either way, worth the wait because its one of the most incredible sights in the city. Just so incredibly unique. There are some alleyways nearby designed similarly but nothing else really captures how unique of a space it is.

There is some amount of insanity, at least by our mundane normal, that a person must have to create something as unusual and intriguing as the Magic Garden. Give yourself time to discover since there is an overwhelming amount to absorb. A large part is outdoors so keep the weather in mind as you plan. Had no issue with street parking nearby (not a weekend!).It is a fascinating place, that by luck and determination of some very engaged citizens survives against the odds for us to enjoy.

Philadelphia Magic Gardens Parking is quite easy. We found street parking during the day during the week and were able to use the fantastic Park Mobile. Get that app if you don’t already have it! There is also a parking garage across the street for even more convenience. Photography is permitted as long as you don’t rock a tripod or light stands. There is a lot of foot traffic through the space, so you definitely should be respectful of other visitors. It’s great for engagement sessions of 2 people and wedding couples but would not recommend this location if you want a bridal party or for family sessions. From the moment you enter the front desk and pay for tickets, you notice that the staff there is charming and friendly. Several staff members keep an eye out to make sure you don’t touch anything or set up a tripod to shoot. However, they are very laid back and courteous and answered all my questions I had about the Philadelphia Magic Gardens. I loved this place and definitely check it out if you are you in South Philly!

You could hurry through this amazing place, but then youll miss the little whimsical jewels. Among all of these big displays are little found objects that are affixed into the nooks and crannies. Every little thing seems to have a story to tell. Many tiles have letters and they are placed into rows that make interesting sentences. You can try to take photos, but its just not the same as being there. When you walk by the mirror fragments, youll be immersed in a fairy land. What is clear and what is a mirror? The boundaries arent as clear as you think. Its a work in progress, and it changes with the weather, so youll want to go back sometimes.

It was mostly well spaced out between parties but in more narrow parts of the exhibit, it was a little crowded. As for parking, we parked along South Street where there’s 2 hour parking during certain times but you do have to pay at the parking kiosk.
