Ive been a student of Tai Chi for several months. As a business owner, wife and mother of teenagers with a Type A personality, I was searching for balance and a deeper understanding of mindfulness. Not only because I wanted to, I needed to find a way to channel the stress in my life. This is one of the best decisions Ive made. Master Warren has lengthy and indepth experience and he also has an incredible gift of connecting with each student. For me, he knows when Im in my head or when I walk in a little stressed. He coaches and teaches from where I am which is a unique gift. Not to mention he adds an element of levity which is always fun. I learn so much about myself in each class yet walk away feeling relaxed and focused. This has become a life changing experience for me that bleeds into my family, marriage and business. I think about the lessons and the movements during my day. I listen to my body more and stay in my head less. Its a beautiful thing!

Tai chi for health has been such a positive experience! I encourage any senior to give this class a try even if you are like me with no prior experience with martial arts. Master Warren allows you to move and learn at a pace that is right for you. Since attending I have seen improvement in balance, mental focus and muscle strength. The sense of accomplishment and enjoyment are just a couple of things I come away with. Master Warren ties the history of this ancient art into the the learning experience giving purpose to each move you learn. Wonderful for all ages!

Currently, Im enrolled in the Tai Chi for Health program. While discussing my goals for the program, I responded that range of motion and balance are important. Im already benefitting from improved strength and stability, carrying into my home life as well. Im able to do things, like mowing the lawn, that I havent in several years. Plus my balance has improved which is putting my daughter, a nurse, at ease about fall risks. This program is different from my previous martial arts training in balance and flow, as well as the purpose of the journey. I think thats one of my favorite parts: the focus IS the journey.

What a wonderful studio! My son started children’s Kung Fu a few months ago and in this short amount of time his confidence has soared. Master Warren is so good with the children. They have a lot of fun in class and each week learn something new. We feel so welcome every time we walk in the doors and I know that my son is in a safe and healthy environment for him to learn and grow not only as a student but also as an individual. He looks forward to classes each week and is eager to learn from Master Warren. If you are looking for a place for your child to learn and grown mentally and physically, this place is it!

I have enjoyed every aspect of the Tai Chi class. Master Warren has so much knowledge and experience and is eager to share with the students in our class. I joined the group because I wanted to do some low impact exercises and strengthening and balance work. What I got was so much more! The Tai Chi practice is learning about breathing and the centering of your core AND slowing down! Letting myself relax and watch Master Warren has been so much fun! Every student works at his/her own pace with no pressure to keep up with anyone else. We all celebrate each other and the steps we are taking in our Tai Chi journey.

Master Warren is a knowledgeable and patient teacher. I felt encouraged from the moment I walked in the door. He has a way of explaining tai chi,the moves, the breathing, the purpose, in a way that is simple yet profound. I have taken away a better understanding of the mind body spirit connection for which I will be forever changed. With more practice I hope to continue to find the balance I was seeking in my life. The environment is an invitation to explore an ancient art with like minded individuals who are warm and friendly. You feel comfortable among fellow travelers on the very 1st day. I have been doing Tai Chi with Master Warren for many months now and I believe it has changed my life. He gently reminds us during each class to find our chi/qui or our center and to move from this place of stillness. I find that I use this technique in my every day life now and of course I feel more centered and can easily find the calm while walking through the turbelence of life. His style is fun and engaging which I appreciate and enjoy. Those that attend the Tai Chi class have become my tribe. I would recommend this class to anyone and everyone, no matter age or physical ability; he finds a way to uniquely work with everyone, our different personalities and ability levels. If you are looking for that something that will help you link your mind and body while gently challenging yourself, this is the place for you.

My wife and I were looking for an environment and teacher who could help bring our son some discipline, structure, and also understanding. Our sone is ADHD and has a hard time focusing. Not many people are suited to handle such kids. Master Warren has been a great help in providing a stable environment as well as a safe and fun program to keep our son involved. Master Warren has helped our son gain confidence as well as respect for others. His classes are presented in a way that is not too difficult to learn so every child can feel like they are accomplishing great things. I have been a student of the martial arts since 1980, all of it in the hard styles. About 20 years ago I was introduced to Tai Chi in a discussion and did all that I could to learn about to no avail. There were no teachers in the areas that I was in that taught it. Fortunately I was able to find a teacher here in Pensacola that gave me a good foundation to start with, and then I heard about Master Warrens school. This was a turning point in my martial career. He has the most unique teaching style that I have ever encountered. Not only does he teach an entire class, but he takes the time to work with each student on the level that they are currently at. He gives you the lesson that you need, corrects any mistakes, makes sure that you understand what he gave you, and he never tells you that you were wrong when you mess up. If you are looking for a school that will give quality training, look no further than this one.

First, this is not MMA. Martial Arts is a life long journey. A way of life. A way of thinking and taking action as you learn balance. It flows over to other parts of your life. It is a quest for mastery which is what Kung Fu actually means with the ultimate goal of being a better person. Humble. With Master Warren and Grandmaster Sin you will be given the knowledge to find out who you can be. In the end, the world is not getting nicer, so being prepared for any situaion, Shaolin, while learning more humility is a worthy investment.

I have trained in other martial arts but never in Shaolin until now. Its an extremely interesting martial art because of its fluidity of movement. The techniques are as effective today as a self defense as it was 1500 years ago, and its many forms and styles will always keep you wanting to come back for more and keep you wanting to train and learn something new. Master Warren is an extremely knowledgeable and competent instructor with many years of experience in Shaolin, Tai Chi, and other styles. Master Warren is also a very patient instructor, which was important to me as some techniques took time to learn. Its an awesome place to train and would recommend to anyone who is looking for a great martial arts school.

I checked reviews and history of the businesses offering options for Tai Chi instruction available in the Pensacola area. I am very pleased with both my selection and admission into this school as well as Master Warren’s instruction.Master Warren personally interviews each applicant prior to admission. Each student’s health and success in meeting goals are important to him and vital to appropriate class placement. After my interview (with hopes of entering a specific class), Master Warren suggested a different class for me. I am so thankful for his knowledgeable experience. After a few weeks of participation, results exceeded my original expectations. My core has strengthened, balance and overall well-being improved. A bonus is the fact that I’m meeting like-minded people and forming a new circle in friendships. The facility is clean; Covid guidelines are in place; and while inside, students are protected and respected. Master Warren provides a safe atmosphere of learning and growing individually and collectively.I am well pleased.

The other reviews for these classes are not a group of zealots “drinking the Kool-Aid.” It’s actually accurate.I am skeptical by nature and inquisitive to a fault. My deep-dive into Shaolin Kung-Fu only made me more skeptical. How could this type of exercise actually provide vitality and flexibility? Are people not born with a certain set of physical limits? As a Masters in Government student I could not help but ask old debate line — “Where’s the beef?”I can say I’m genuinely shocked. I’ve been studying for a few months at the school and I’m so much farther than where I was. I’ve learned to relax (in many different ways) and have become more balanced and controlled. I genuinely look forward to every time I can visit, and I get upset when I can’t.It can sound hokey on the website, sure, but every time I think about what the site says I have to laugh to myself and say “If only you knew the truth before you began.”

Before deciding to try Kung Fu, our son played some team sports. While everything went fine, it just didn’t seem to be his thing. He was punched in the face, and was booed by some kids if he missed the ball. It didn’t help that starting soccer at age 5, he seemed like he was already behind. I signed him up for sports to build confidence, but this seemed like it was doing the opposite. At Pensacola Kung Fu and Tai Chi, our child gets to work at his own pace. He really enjoys learning and mastering the moves in such a fun, positive, learning environment. He is building so much confidence, and is about to test for his yellow belt!I want to mention that we joined Master Warrens team shortly before the Corona Virus came to town. In such uncertain times, Master Warren and his beautiful wife Marion were there to not only school us in the history and art of Kung Fu, but they provided stability and encouragement for our son and family unit during the quarantine. They really care about their students! In short notice they quickly figured out how to do online lessons, and kept us active and connected. We are so grateful to be a part of this group!

I have been attending Pensacola Kung Fu & Tai Chi for a few months now and couldn’t be more pleased with my experience. Master Warren is a considerate and skilled teacher of his art form. I practiced martial arts in my youth, so I had some idea what I was getting into. In my 20’s and 30s, I mostly played pick-up soccer (tough on the knees) and eventually took up Yoga (a complementary practice in my opinion). Of course, each individual is on their life path and trajectory and must decide what activities to make time for in their busy days. I knew Tai Chi was right for me when I found myself doing it in my spare time around the house. Now I look forward to attending classes with Master Warren and the other students to add to my Tai Chi repertoire every week.

Master Warren does an excellent job teaching classes. He creates a very relaxing learning environment, akin to a library. He allows you to work through the material and practice at a rate that is comfortable to you. Despite the large amount of material within the Shaolin system, you never feel rushed or overwhelmed by the material you are learning, and through practice, Master Warren helps you see how each of the pieces tie together. Through the class you learn to appreciate the journey, rather than being focused solely on the destination. Everyone in the class works together and help each other, creating a fellowship of sorts where you respect and are respected by everyone else there. I like that Master Warren demonstrates the practical self defense applications of the techniques within the Tai Chi form. Additionally, the program I chose allows me to periodically demonstrate my proficiency in what I have learned, to test for and earn rank. The rank is illustrated by the color of the sash worn by the student. A review 2-weeks in.ENVIRONMENTBefore I signed up, Master Warren sat with me for more than one hour. He began by listening to my story - my past martial arts experience, my hopes and expectations, and my specific challenges. Of course, he explained the (very interesting) history of Shaolin and Tai Chi but ALSO tailored the conversation to ME. For example, what makes Shaolin and Tai Chi different from my previous experience (which happens to be Tae Kwon Do)? What are some of the tendencies I would begin to adjust to in order to internalize the new teachings? What breathing and mindset could I work to adopt to have a better sense of mind-body connection (an area of growth for me)?It was clear that he cared about me and my journey and would do whatever he could to help me grow. The next thing that became clear was that every single student / practitioner I met had the same attitude. For context, this was important to me because, as a fairly heavyset guy in his late-40s, I was concerned about by ability to keep up with the class and about sustaining injuries. My experience so far is that neither concept makes sense in the context of Master Warrens classes. What actually happens is: I learn the specific techniques being taught. I practice them to the level of my ability. I improve at my own pace. I make mistakes and am reminded that this is a process and that we learn as much (or more) from mistakes as from successes. Keeping up and comparisons between students arent part of the curriculum. I look forward to having more experience so I can offer the same support to others who decide to walk this path.SOME PERSONAL OBSERATIONS AND EXPERIENCESHave you ever had the experience of going to a different country for the first time and spending the first week or so noticing all of the differences and then following that with the experience of not noticing them at all after a week or so? Here is a set of bullet points with random observations:- I like that the curtains are closed. It keeps practice focused and feels safe for some reason.- Weapons are part of the teachings at higher levels (Im happy about that)- It does NOT have the feel of a belt-farm. I have a sheet of paper with everything I need to learn and have competency in for the next belt. Master Warren and I work on that list, which is the same for all students at a given level. When he feels I am ready, he lets me know and we work toward a testing date. Its hard to overstate how important this is to me personally. This is a journey that he is guiding me on, not a trail he is pushing me down.- The initial self defense teachings are practical and useful.- The idea of practicing the techniques one-after-the-other while constantly changing directions to face a different direction was pretty revolutionary to me. It helps me learn to adapt to any situation at any time rather than to face a mirror and work to perfect my technique only to find that I have a hard time implementing that technique in sparring.- Taking Shaolin (Kung Fu) and Tai Chi at the same time is REALLY helpful to me. They seem to compliment each other and I just feel good after a I walk out of classes.Thank you Master Warren.
