Took our older dog here for 4-5 years. First visit was for emergency poisoning. Taken in immediately and cared for so effectively and compassionately. Decided to make this our regular veterinary office. Saw 3 different vets over that time--all excellent. Plus a competent staff who treated animals and their owners with respect and proper attention. We were also very grateful for their compassion, gentleness, and support when faced with the difficult situation of saying goodbye to our 16 year-old sweetheart.
My cat had a huge gash somehow from escaping the house. Other places were booked a week out and these clinic does same day visits. The biggest issue I have is with the staff. I understand they’re busy but it’s a business. Everyone should be treated with respect. I stood outside until my cat was ready I heard one of nurses telling everyone how to use the medication. As soon as I got my fur baby and his medicine I was told “there are instructions on the package”. (Note: the rest of the individuals that were receiving an explanation were of fair skinned. While I am 100% African American with brown skin.) Coincidence?ONE STAR FOR NOT GIVING ME THE SAME SERVICE AS THEIR OTHER CLIENTS. NO APOLOGY NEEDED, AS A PEROSN OF THE BLACK COMMUNITY I ONLY ASK FOR RESPECT!!!!!!!!!
Staff was rude and didnt want to listen to my situation. Woman in the early morning hours just responded like she didnt care.
Our dog was almost misdiagnosed due to lack of consistent communication and tracking of our situation. The COVID situation has made it so that you have to call in to reserve an appointment. However, they also call you to call you in and there is only one line so you get a busy tone often. Please figure out a better way/buy another phone line. This could lead to dangerous delays. I look forward to post covid when they can reopen their lobby and have a better communications protocol.
My dog had heart failure and needed to be seen pretty urgently. I was told I would need to wait in the parking lot for 3-4 hours but I was seen after only an hour and a half, every vet I called was busy and couldn’t get our dog in within 24 hours due to covid. They checked him when I got there to make sure he could wait that long. After a very thorough work up, he was treated over night and was stable enough to come home the next day provided we see a cardiologist within the week which we did. I’m very grateful for the care and compassion of the staff. If I need to, I will absolutely come back. Our dog is doing well on medication now thanks to AM Emergency.
Im so thankful for this hospital! They have saved both of my cats lives! They are always busy because they do great work and are conveniently located. I hope the staff and vet see this review because I appreciate you all so much! You saved my fur babies!
Way to three hours and everyone else that came after me was seen. Come to this place if you wanna wait all day.
WARNING: DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE WITH YOUR ANIMALS .My cat was having a hard time going to the bathroom so I tried to go to my vet. I was referred here by another emergency room. I handed over a cat that wasn’t lethargic, was eating, and had his tail up reflecting he was happy. After waiting for 2 1/2 hours he was seen. An hour later I was given back my guy who now could barely stand straight and paid $750 for a wall of medication all of which required food (that they sold me) to accompany it. The first day on the meds again he was completely out of it. Now the second day on the meds, he is lethargic, refusing to eat and keeping his tail down very low and swinging it violently. Since the medication requires food and he is regurgitating it instead of eating it. I’m at a complete loss. I’m told it will be 6 days for a urinary test to come back which MIGHT prove that he needs these meds and food. They don’t know. I called in obviously upset and was hung up on by their system. When I called back and told them I was hung up on obviously more upset, I was told it wasn’t their fault and promptly put on hold. After a tech who was unfamiliar with my cats treatment was put on, I told them I wanted to speak with a doctor who would review the paper work. They refused. They offered to have me come in and I told them I didn’t trust them. Then they offered to leave a voicemail for the doctor who treated my cat and would be in on Tuesday (it’s Saturday). I said “as a review before I was to go on to make this Yelp review, you have a doctor on site, you won’t ask them to review my cats paperwork and inform me what’s going on correct?” I was told they would resend my paperwork to me and hung up on me.I’m not going to pretend that I wasn’t audibly upset about paying $750 to get a cat that was even more sick as well as being hung up on. I work retail and deal with angry customers all the time. At no point was there any assurances, or reiteration of policy. Just an offer to send me paperwork that I told them I already had. Wish I had looked at the 3-star Yelp rating this place already had.
Horrible place! Took me for thousands of dollars for essentially some x-rays and antibiotics. I mean, they tacked on fees after fees, like that of $300 for an xray consultation of bones that werent broken. Then they quoted me for thousands more. When I said Id be transferring my dog to another vet, they gave me a million reasons as to why that would be a bad decision on my end, making me feel guilty for even considering it, and ultimately stating that I might as well euthanize her. But wasnt I just quoted an additional $3k to save her? Took her to a vet in La Cañada. They closed up her EXTERNAL lacerations, kept her for observation, gave her all necessary medications, and a fifth of the price later, my dog is back home running around like her usual cute self. Animal AM preys on distraught pet owners to hike up prices to ridiculous amounts or at the very least to squeeze you for the euthanasia fee. Very sad to know that people who are supposed to be animal people have such blatant disregard for their actual care. Hustlers for sure.
We brought our precious dog, here after she has passed away at home. It was such a difficult loss, especially in 2020. She was our first baby after we got married and was apart of our lives for 12 years. It was extremely hard with COVID to just handed her off in a parking lot. The cremation company they used was incredible and thoughtful. I would have never expected all the touches they included, personalized name plate on the box, paw print to keep.... After 3 months we received a handwritten card with personalized messages from the vets and staff. It was very touching! Thank you!
I had a great experience here. My kitten somehow nearly cut off her tail. I rushed her to this clinic and they took her back immediately. After a short time they called me back to go over the anticipated costs. They were going to have to keep her for awhile, so I got to go home. The vet called to talk me through the damage that he had found and his plan of action. A couple hours later I was able to go pick her up. Then I had to return every few days for a month for bandage changes. Every time everything went smoothly. One of the techs even took photos of her wounds so that I could see before they put the bandages back on. I know that their quick action and skilled vet helped my girl keep her tail.
I have been a customer of them since 2014 and they took good care of our 2 cats Max and Lela. We also had them euthanize Max due to stomach cancer and since then only have Lela our female cat of 17 years old. We have gone to them for her check ups when they would send us a reminder and all went smooth but since Covid 19, things have been worse with them not responding to our emails to set an appointment. I know things are hard with Covid 19 but answering an email takes a minute. We will take our business elsewhere now since they dont need money.
Came in at 8 with my cat, unfortunately too late, as he passed. During the entire process the staff were very understanding and gave my family enough room to grieve. They offered to handle the cremation. The entire time I was there they were very professional and understanding. Due to COVID 19, I was forced to wait in my car, but other than that service was exemplary.
DON’T GO HERE !! Horrible service they will keep you waiting even after knowing the conditions of your pet. What’s the point of being an EMERGENCY clinic if they won’t attend you right away. If you want the best for you and your pets then save your time and avoid this place at all cost !!
I don’t recommend this place at all! Choose any other vet besides this place!! if you want your dog to be treated quickly and not be told to wait especially when your pet is in critical condition.
I cannot speak on behalf of the doctors expertise, but we were told the wait time was 3-4 hours. Waited in the parking lot for 4 hours. Called to check in and was told it would be another 3 hours or more so we ran home to get dinner. 1 hour later they called us in but since we had left we were kicked to the back of the line again (which was a 4 hour wait...again). Thankfully our situation was not life or death but I can’t imagine how terrible the experience would have been if it was.
One star rating I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone the waiting protocol they had is ridiculous! I had a terrible experience here the other day. I went to this animals hospital for my puppy that was really sick and could barely move. I came here hoping they would take my him in ASAP but instead I waited outside for an hour. I treated so poorly and didn’t seem to be taking seriously by the Staff despite having all the money and ready to pay. By the time they were “ready” for him he had already passed away. Save yourself some time and a dog find a better place.
They gave to my cat the right medication, my kaya is now healthy and happy 😊
If I can put zero stars I would. I would highly recommend people to NEVER take their pet to this ER emergency animal clinic. I felt forced to put my dog down when I didnt want to. If you go they will only give you two options of paying a large amount of money to start treating your loved one in pain or to put your loved one down. They didnt offer payment plans at all. Ive always heard patient care first and me being in the medical field we always attend to the patient first then worry about payment later and have patient, owner, guardian, or whoever sign consents that they are responsible for payments, so all patient can get services and not be forced to do something they dont want. Everyone look for a different animal emergency clinic DONT GO TO THIS CLINIC!
Terrible customer service and care. Will never come back here. Took my dog in for an ear infection and they charged me 165.00 for an ear flush. Find another vet. Maybe they are great for an emergency.
My Puppy all of a sudden got a huge swelling on the side of his face that nearly closed his eye. A big hard lump. It was a Sunday morning early. I called ahead of time and they told me there would be a three hour wait. I could handle that, after all we are in the middle of a pandemic. It was very organized, I filled out the forms, they called my while I waited in the car and asked some questions. I got called again by phone and they told me to bring my Puppy to the door. It was only a 90 minutes wait. The Vet called after 10 minutes, said it was a sinus infection. They gave him two shots and I came away with antibiotics and pain pills. It is now Monday night and the swelling is nearly gone and his eye is about 80% open. He is jumping around the place he is so happy. I cant thank them enough. It cost a few hundred dollars but it was cheap to me as I thought my Dogs face was going to explode. If I ever have an emergency again this is where I will be going.
Would never attempt to take an animal there again. My dog was bitten by another dog and needed to be seen. I completely understand the concept of triage and emergency cases. But I was initially told 1-2 hour wait and after 2 hours and several potential patients outside driving off there was no update as to time lines. It seems very convenient that youve got to wait outside allowing. The staff to completely ignore you. After two hours I called and was told another two hour minimum wait and that I should call another facility. They finally called me at home at 11:45, 4 1/2 hours later. Please do not attempt services at this facility.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. They told me because of COVID it might be a 1.5 to 2 hour wait. But they got me in and my dog was treated quickly. Thanks
My pug, Buddy needed some fast medical emergency for an eye injury. I didnt know where to go so naturally I googled veterinary hospitals. Animal -AM Emergency was the only open location at 8 am on a Saturday in my area. The female vet answered my call immediately and came out (due to Covid 19) and took Buddy inside while I completed some forms. In less than 5 minutes my Buddys eye injury was fixed and back in my arms! They were fast, friendly and most important sympathetic to my situation and helped us out. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Horrible place with terrible service, if you truly care about your animal, take them to any other place, poor dogs ):
A terrible institution which upholds a classist view and allowing that to take precedence in a decision of life or death of animals or in similar terms:take your pets somewhere else they genuinely wont provide the care your pets deserve.
Unfortunately we’ve had to make two emergency trips here in two weeks. Both times the Doctor and Staff were lovely! They made sure to understand what was wrong with our pup and took extra steps to make sure we knew how to care for her once we got home. Thank you for all of your hard word, especially during this crazy time!
PROCEED WITH EXTREME CAUTIOUS!Should file law suit against their practice due to the lost of your baby.FILE WITH FTC, BBB & CONSUMER REVIEWS on this incompetent Vet care practitioner.I took my 8 year old Shih Tzu in after she had two seizure/collapse episodes on Aug 3 2020.I was questioned by their vet/staff on the seizure/collapse with: are you sure? Your fur-baby is perfectly fine, nothing is wrong with her.My fur baby had no prior history of any signs of seizure/collapse.My fur-baby keep having seizure/collapse in the last week and yesterday (Sep 21, 2020) by the time I rushed her to another Vet, my baby was dead on arrival (DOA).I am highly question on this Animal AM-Emergency clinics qualification and their capability to perform the care they meant for.In addition to that, this clinic charged for $100 on consultation fee, but, there was no consultation per se.More over, I have request the xray (at the time there was another staff collecting the balance from me) while we were at the parking lot around 9:54am, one of their staffs said she had sent xray copy via email while we were at the parking lot & it will take a few minutes to get through.$900 spent for NO RESULT, but in turn, what I got was the death of my baby!!!THERE WERE NO X-RAY in the email.Result: Death of my fur babyComment:1. Your vet qualification is highly QUESTIONABLE!!!2. Your clinic engaged in deceitful practice.
They got three stars for being there for my dog when he needed help the most but unfortunately they did not give good service and my puppy still has worms unfortunately
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The staff that works here should be flipping burgers at McDonald’s if they’re that clueless. My dog was choking, not breathing, and I called ahead of time and said I don’t need an appointment I can just walk in and I’ll be seen first at 8am. That was a lie I got there at 7:45 am and filled out the paperwork. 3 other patients got here after me filled out the paper work and went before and the clueless chick at the front desk told me they had appointments. But the person on the phone said they don’t do appointments. WHAT IN THE GOD’S NAME IS WRONG WITH THEM? Horrible at communication, horrible at address dog’s needs. I really hope they don’t have pets, because if they don’t pay attention to other pets and that’s their job? Then I can’t believe the attention they give their pets. Do not go here everyone please take my word for it.
Reasonable priced for dog emergency
How do you call your selves a 24 hour emergency clinic and not have a doctor on call at all times. Rushed over because my dog was extremely ill for them to tell me I needed to wait 45 minutes to an hour to wait for the next doctor to come in. Was faster to drive across town to another vet. Unreal.
This review is for the emergency care facility. The wait times here are atrocious. We were seated with our dog for over 2 hrs by ourselves in the waiting room before our dog could be seen. Our dachshund was presenting with a swollen neck and we were worried about her breathing, otherwise we would have waited till the morning. Estimate for a 8 minute exam by vet and a poke to check if there is fluid in the swelling was $100. Pricey but we accept and sign paperwork. Following procedure, vet tells us she couldnt tell what was in there??? Then when final bill arrives we are charged $150 as they charged us an extra $50 for a benadryl shot, even though the vet said it would be over the counter and wasnt included on the estimate. End of a 3.5 hr experience we were charged $150 to basically see a vet for 8 minutes and to learn absolutely nothing about what is wrong with our pet. I hate these type of places that take advantage of families often fearing for their pets lives by recommending expensive procedures that are incredibly marked up, all because they are the only option at that time of day. On the estimate for testing and x-rays(which we declined) they wanted to charge $450!! Our local vet does x-rays and in house testing for a quarter of that price... Do not bring your pets here.
This review is long overdue! We switched to this clinic after having an issue with our previous vet and have been coming here for a few years now. Dr. Mo is the best! The staff is always super helpful and friendly. It’s also very comforting that in an emergency, it’s a familiar place where they know us and have our records on hand.
I do not recommend this clinic. My dog needed a transfusion on Christmas 2018. She had anemia after being spayed. She almost died. My vet did not have canine blood so I was referred here. We saw Dr. Vicki Chan. She diagnosed without xrays I later learned. She said my dog needed atleast 6 mos. of steroids. All she needed jhfrom my current vet. was 10 days of antibiotics to be fine. I was charged thousands of dollars. I adore my dog. I paid it. My current vet. says we were given a placebo. He doesnt refer to this vet. because he feels they play upon clients fears. We and our furbabies deserve better. Beware.
We just started coming here because we recently moved to Pasadena. So far, they are great with our cats! Im very happy that we found this place!!UPDATE: Weve now been seeing them for a few years and they were really caring and sweet when our cat, Bella recently passed. She had a tumor. ugh it broke us, but they were very kind with all the ER visits, and overnights, and all our phone calls with me crying. It was heartbreaking but they were very good to us. Even sent us a lovely condolences card.
Dr. Chan, thank you for saving our boy Tobys life. I am forever grateful for you and the staff that took care of us so quickly and giving the most excellent care and service! I truly appreciate it!
I took my Chihuahua here last Sunday due to heavy breathing and foaming. As soon as I took him they grabbed him and took him to the back. A few minutes later they called my daughter and I to the back to one of the rooms. One of the nurses u told me he was critical and the possible reasons he was acting this way. Right away they gave me a form with two potential estimate 1 from $500-$700 and the other from $800-$1000. The doctor came into the room and explained what they can do for him etc. We decided to let them treat him, literally 10-15 later they came in and told me he was passing, so they asked if I wanted to continue the treatment, I decided not to and made the difficult decision to euthanize him to eliminate his suffering. They were going to bring him into the room and put him down there with us, but unfortunately he passed before they could even bring him in. We were able to spend some time with him, which was nice, but then it was time to leave and pay. I was shocked when they gave me the total $1023.00!! I wasnt in my right frame of mine after losing my dog of 15 years, so I really didnt question it. I was at the hospital for only about 45 minutes, dog died and still managed to take up over $1000 in bills. To top it off they charged me $98 for being a holiday weekend. I feel they knew how bad my dog was but have me false hope and wanted to get into my wallet.
I have been going to this vet office since they changed ownership a few years ago. Dr. Mo, the new owner is wonderful as are all the other vets there. They have both a regular veterinary clinic during the day and switch to an all night emergency vet at night. This is very reassuring when your pet is ill or injured. You can see someone at your own vets office and a staff will be there all night to watch over your pet and treat as needed. I highly recommend the skilled and caring vets here.
Stay away.Had to repeat my dog’s situation and signs and symptoms multiple times to the tech, and to the doctor. Dr. Wong is incompetent, unable to say that my dog was having pancreatitis issues because I refused a X-ray and instead said it was some spine issues. That my dog would feel better within 24 hrs.Having gone through both of these kinds of problems before I knew very well it doesn’t take 24 hrs for my elderly dog to feel better. Said the pain medication previously prescribed was also causing trouble to the liver even if it’s digested through the kidneys.I only got a call concluding the treatment plan only after I got home. Never discussed anything with me. Didn’t notice my dog had lost 3lbs in 1 month. Didn’t notice the changes in the blood work. Kept getting my dog confused or his situation confused . Lots of treatment options missed and only got some things ordered after I had verbalized my concerns.Whenever I had a question, the tech would say I don’t know it’s doctor’s orders BBC and every doctor has it’s not way of doing things.Tones of medications ordered and from my previous experience they had cut all of the meds for me. Not here. Here you’ll have to cut a pull 1/4th . It’s the little things that also matter.I ended up taking my dog to a different hospital much more compassionate and knowledgeable who reviewed my dogs documents and immediately knew what to do. My dog was diagnosed with end stage pancreatic and spleen cancer.I would never recommend.
We had our cat here for treatment of urinary blockage. We found the staff to be excellent in their caring attitude and professionalism. They are responsive and sensitive. Dr. Satorius spoke to us about our cats condition, outlined the treatment and home care, answered all of our questions. I would definitely recommend MASH.
This place deserves no stars. If you are first patient, you will never be seen by a vet. I was there for about 4 hours and still no answer to be my turn next. My dog had diarrhea and she kept throwing up. Never trust me, NEVER take your dog here. My dog could’ve died. I left the place and went somewhere else.
I find this place exceptional. Very fair and helpful. I highly reccomended !
Had to break up with this place after several years and several thousand dollars. Doctors are fine, but their staff are very very bad. They don’t follow through on things, don’t call back, don’t know how to communicate, bad at explaining things, are consistently rude, arrogant to customers. All I want is to be treated with respect and have my animals taken care of without mixups and denial of responsibility. I wish it was only one or two incidents but it’s literally every interaction now. You’ll notice the employee turnover is quite high. It’s never the same people there month to month, year to year. There must be something going on but who cares, if they were real professionals they would solve their staffing problem. I’m tired of waiting and wasting my time and money here. Avoid if you love your pets.
Best vet ever! Extremely knowledgeable, caring, and invested in your pets well-being. Takes the time to explain treatment options, completely trustworthy, and reasonably priced. Great staff and 24-hour emergency clinic means our records are all in the same place.
Animal AM is great. I have used them for both emergency care for my cat (they were very fast and professional and hes doing Beverly well now) and the emergency care was so great they are now my regular vet.Prices are a very good and a real bargain for the high level of care and customer service. I have highly recommended Animal AM to friends.
Our senior dog was taken here by our dog walker while in the midst of Bloat and unfortunately passed away. However, the staff here made the experience has simple as possible and worked with a “bed-side manner” and level of compassion that all human and animal hospitals should strive to achieve. I can’t thank them enough for how they handle our guy in his last minutes and it was apparent how much they truly cared. I hope it’s a long time until we have to visit this clinic again but I know our dog will be loved and taken care of when we do.
Horrible place will not tend to your dog at all choose a different animal hospital!!!!!!
I love this place. The staff is friendly, attentive, and they truly listen to my every question and concern. They have great professionalism and I know my dog will be in the best care. I feel at ease whenever I have to stop in and best of all, my dog actually enjoys going to the vet, so that’s always a plus!
Dr. Vicky Chan is an amazing doctor! The first time I went to am animal hospital was for my dog who sadly passed away. Dr. Chan let us know from the start that it would’ve been a 50% chance of success, maybe even less. This time around I took my pet who also passed but for a different reason which was due to parvo. By the time I took him it was too late. What amazed me was that she brought her personal dog in to transfer plasma from her pet to my dog. I am forever thankful knowing that she did the best she could to try and keep him alive.
This Clinic provides excellent veterinary services with a tangible amount of tender loving care that humans and animals alike feel. A plus isnt a high enough mark for their wonderful staff. This is THE place to go if you have an under the weather pet.
My dog had to be hospitalized with pneumonia, she needed oxygen and 24 hour care. The people there were so sweet, and the tecs were just as informed as the doctors. Not to mention that I was able to call to check on her any time I got anxious (which was a lot). Everything was also reasonably priced, considering she ended up staying two extra days.
Needed to come in for an emergency on a Sunday. My small dog was hit in the head by an emotionally disturbed woman. Seen promptly and Dr. Mo was able to rule out brain injury. The whole staff was supportive and empathic beyond belief. Dr. Mo and his caring staff were both competent and comforting which was so very important to me and my dog under traumatic circumstances.
Dr. Mo, the vet techs, and all the staff at AAECP are great! They are very compassionate when dealing with nervous pets and always friendly. My concerns are always treated with respect, even if they are over a minor issue! I am very grateful for the care and service that they provide.
This review is ONLY based on our experience with Dr. Chan. If I had to rate the clinic as a whole, I would probably give three stars -- but Dr. Chan is so fantastic and deserves to be recognized! Our frenchie has been in twice over the past year with eye issues and both times Dr. Chan has provided excellent care. She helped us understand what was going on from start to finish and I would encourage anyone making an appointment at Animal-AM Emergency Clinic to request Dr. Chan.(If youre wondering why I would give the clinic three stars overall, it is because the staff working the front desk have no sense of urgency and horrible customer service skills. Also, one time we saw a doctor other than Dr. Chan for our little girls eye and I was very dissatisfied with the level of service she provided.)
Reception had attitude and was bothered by even the simplest questions. The Vet only saw my kitten for a few minutes and would hide behind doors whenever they would talk about money. Prices were in the thousands for my kittie who had poor appetite and was vomiting. We requested to have my kittie to receive fluids to re-hydrate. The vet assistant took my cat for less then 5 minutes to a separate room, out of sight. She came back and said done. Administering IV takes more than 5 minutes. My kitten did not even have a bandage wrapped around any leg, no signs of any intravenous treatment. -__- They did nothing for my kitten and yet still charged us around $300. My poor baby kitten died 3 hours later that night.Dont take your love ones there. Based on their actions, one can only assume that they care more about money then our sweet animals.
My friend took his kitten in tonight because she was having trouble breathing and clearly in pain. The staff refused to help him because he was unable to pay the deposit. They gave her a shot and basically told him to get the hell out. 2 hours later she died in his arms as he arrived at another clinic that actually tried to help. These people don’t care about your pet, they want money or else you can kick dirt. Don’t take your pet hear in an emergency situation. They won’t help. I hope you all think about this when you go to bed. Monsters.
SUPER friendly and attentive staff. Dr. gave me LOTS of options, worked with my budget on pricing and was TOTALLY cool about it. I never felt pressured and I loved them, would recommend for sure.
DONT TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE!!!! THEY LEAVE THEM TO DIE!!!!
Was told it would be a 1 to 2 hour wait. Ended up being pushed back every hour. Total wait time was over 8 HOURS. Nope. Never again. They need to get their system together.
Saved my dogs life when he ate snail bait. Yeah Yeah I know...who lets a dog out when there is snail bait. Gardener decided it was a good idea without asking. Anyways they saved him life by pumping his stomach and keeping him on IV all night. But he was better within the week. I brought him again for another reason and received the same great care.
I went there for a foxtail emergency that was getting a bit more serious by the hour. I wont speak for the wait time or the cost because those are other considerations. But I will say that they did not find the foxtail which according to another vet was easy to find, and the worst - they told me to wait it out for 5 days (this is why I give 2 stars only) and see if the condition gets better, and sent me home with no pain medication. Still I hugely appreciate that they were available to give my pet some antibiotics which at least slowed down the infection. An advice to all similar people in my situation: If the infection does not respond to the antibiotic with the first pill or two, seek help for your pet to a good vet the next day which is hard to find with each vet having like 100-200 patients each day lined up. The best judge of your pets health will ultimately be you.
Weve never had anything but great experiences here. Both Dr. Mo and Dr. Wang are fantastic vets, and Im really glad we were referred to this hospital by the rescue organization we adopted our dog from.Dr. Wang in particular called to check up on our cat after hed been seen for a urinary tract problem, and even gave me his personal phone number to call if any emergencies arose. Thats excellent service!
Took my dog in after finding a lump under his jaw/throat area. Met Dr Mo and staff who were very gentle and caring when examining my boy. Was recommended to have a fine needle aspiration done and then sent to lab for test and results. After the aspirate was completed, Dr Mo explained to me from what was drawn out..he diagnosed what the lump was and the lab test wasnt really necessary anymore unless I still wanted have it done. I greatly appreciated that cuz that saved me a significant amount of money. So got a couple of prescriptions and my boy is doing well and improving. Its good to know that this vet has 24/7 emergency service if needed, but hopefully will never need. Prices are reasonable and whole staff is very professional.
Just terrible. The practice manager Jenny was rude and unable to apologize for being aggressive without me asking for an apology. I felt I had to explain business behaviors to her so she would understand why she shouldnt be aggressive towards community members. I was calling out of concern for dogs crying and being left out on the patio, clearly they are in distress, but she got aggressively defensive & rude. Thankfully she did explain the dogs are put outside for about 15 minutes at a time & the temperature is monitored while they are out there. Glad to have that explanation however I listened to that dog cry for much longer than 15 minutes. Then after they brought it in for 5 minutes they put it back outside where it continued crying. My vets have techs that walk dogs to relieve themselves. The dogs must feel more comforted having a human with them because they dont cry if someone is with them. BTW, Jenny kept saying dogs bark because she was purposely trying to downplay my concern and dismiss my concern of the dogs crying, and then she tried to deflect to I Dig My Dog saying they have more dogs barking than the clinic. I had to tell her 3 times I wasnt calling about the barking, but rather the crying. Crying is a sign that a person or animal is in distress. If I Dig My Dog had crying dogs Id look into that as well.
Dr. Chan and Dr. Mo are kind and compassionate. They never take advantage of us even when we are in a situation where we have to make an important decision of treatment.
Okay so I took my dog here because he had bladder stones and they told us it best we put him down and Im glad I didnt that same day I went to a specialist and when we told them that they told us it best to put him down they looked at us with disbelief and then asked us were they busy and the specialist look at my dog and hes fine but we did need to remove those stone and we did and now my dog is doing great hes happy and is very healthy I would not recommend this place at all
My first experience with Animal-AM was during a difficult time. My Viszla was diagnosed with a spleen tumor. They were knowledgeable, caring, and invested in our dog, Indiana. They took the time to explain treatment options, which were minimal and they showed us they were trustworthy because they didnt try and convince us to do unnecessary procedures that wouldnt work in the end. We unfortunately lost Indiana, but now have two more Vizslas that go there and we couldnt be happier with the entire staff.
My wife got home from work to find our eldest dog suffering. Being after hours or vet said to take her to this facility for emergency services. This thoughtless, uncaring facility refused to help a dying dog and told my wife to take her somewhere else 15 minutes away. After they had told my wife to bring her right in. This establishment does not deserve to care for your beloved family member. Do not give this place any more business. Because when push comes to shove they will let your pet die, rather than do whatever it takes to help you out.
I called on a Sunday when my regular vet isnt open about my little dog having diarrhea. They wouldnt give me ANY suggestions or even let me know if what I was doing was right or wrong. They said I absolutely had to bring him in which is just a manipulative maneuver to make money. Find a different pet hospital.
My girlfriend and I brought our cat in last week and saw Dr. Sartorius for a cut on her side. The cut turned out to be an infected abscess and she presented different options for treatment so that we could figure out a solution that fit our budget. The whole staff and Dr. Sartorius were very professional and they got our kitty feeling better and on the mend.
My dog frankies tummy was dangerously distended and wr didnt know why. we brought him here and they diagnosed him within an hour. we came back once a week for 4 months to get his tummy drained by the amazing Dr. Chang before my baby had a stroke and couldnt bounce back. i wouldnt have taken him anywhere else for his last moments.trustworthy, kind, and compassionate toward your pet. expensive, but its an emergency hospital and their service is worth it.
Excellent care, service and cost! My husband and I recently moved to Pasadena from Orange County. Our little guy needed to be seen immediately for displaying symptoms of a possible worsening of his back and or heart condition. With his wonderful vets office closed and over 70 miles away we were so thankful to have found and received great diagnostic treatment from doctor Satorius. She thoroughly discussed with us our baby conditions, test, treatments solutions and outcomes. Our little guy is resting comfortably now.In addition the office faxed over the record of today visit to our vet for us. Compliments to the Tech who came in to get the vitals and questions of our concerns. His questions and collecting history and information was impressive. The service, & Dr. Satorius exceptional diagnostics mirrored our vet. Outstanding! The Teters
The receptionist said there would be a 2 hour wait, so we waited. My poor elderly cat was in poor shape, she hadnt eaten or drank anything for two days and was shaking all over. So I waited with her for 2 hours, it was her turn next, when suddenly a young affluent couple rushed in with their dog and they were seen immediately! After all that time that I waited for my kittys turn, and they were seen before we were. Right now my cat is shaking all over, spitting up her guts, and is about to die a horrible death because of theses INCOMPETENT LIARS.
I think the staff is feeling the effects of COVID-19 and are likely stressed. They used to be friendly and responsive. Now at least the one front office staffer is neither. She probably needs a vacation.
This place has been a lifesaver for my yorkie. Prior to seeing Dr Mo, my poor Zeuz suffered from allegies, stomach problems, and what not. But hes on a great regimen now and everyone is happy. The cost is very affordable and the staff is always friendly and nice.
Great Vet! We are very picky about who cares for our animal family members andf have tried many places. This is by far the best! First of all, they care about your animals and about you. Secondly, it is VERY easy to get an appointment. I was referred once by a friend to another local vet and called to make an appointment for a sick dog. They asked what was wrong (symptoms were serious) and they offered me a mid-day appontment SIX WEEKS later. That is not a typo! I called Animal-AM and told them the symptoms and they said come immediately. They are welcoming and it is very easy to get an appontment. They have low-cost vaccination clinics, a TV in the waiting room and it is clean, comfortable and on time.....Dr Mo is amazing and Dr Hong is wonderful. Cant say enough but you get the idea - great for your furry family members.
Incredible and loving staff, took care of my two cats so well that I’ve made Animal-AM their primary vet.
Because of this place, my dog is still happily running around today, completely healed, after a car ran my dog over. I know its hard to believe, but my dog is the living proof. It was a miracle!
AM Emergency Veterinarian Office is the worst place to take your pets. Well at least with a Dr. Vicky Chan DVM.,,,,My dog unexpectedly became very ill one evening, so as a concerned owner I took him to the vet as soon as I could. Unfortunately, it was to AM Emergency Hospital....After meeting with me for about 5 min and 6 Xrays of my dogs abdomen in various angles,. .Dr. Chan then informs me that my dog would require more testing and it would cost me about 3 thousand dolllars minimum and if i :couldnt afford it, then tell her immediately.....I advised Dr. Chan that it was pricey and I did not have that kind of money. Without saying another word, Dr. Chan exits the room. Yes!!! I sat there in dismay, gathering myself, in order to handle what was happening. ..My feelings of disappointment and concern came to a halt when Ms. Chan came back into the room and announced that she has prescribed some medications for my dog and the office personnel would finalize my visit with them. However, before Ms. Chans quick exit from the room, Dr Chan suggested to me that if my dog did not get better, I should euthanize him. .....After her exit, I let myself out of the room into the office area where I was met with a bill of $721.00, even though the quote Ms. Chan originally wrote was about half that price. (I have attached a copy of the bill and Xrays, in case yall want to see them)When I got home I researched the price of 1 medication Ms. Chan had given my dog and I was really blown away...I was charged 114 dollars for 28 chewable tabs when I could have gotten 200 of the exact same chewable tabs for $4.50 cents on the web....seriously?!!! I heard of a mark up but REALLY?!!! Yes really....People, DO NOT take your pets there unless it is the only vet left on the planet, but if you do end up there, ask for someone else...K
Our pup, Abbers, was pacing and in pain for 2 to 3 days. We finally decided to take her in. Dr Mo was super nice, informative, and very keen on deducing the issue. Thank god there was nothing horribly wrong! Turns out, abbers had back pain and Dr Mo prescribed 2 medications to help out. Will def be coming back here, love the staff as well. Laura at the front desk was awesome! Helped us with check out, lol thanks laura you are a trooper!
Good friendly professionals ( and excellent prices) not sure I know how my visit could have been better.
Dr. Annalise Satorius, is the epitome of the consummate UNprofessional. To say that I was appalled when I read her VERY PUBLIC post regarding her feelings towards full on stereotypical arrogant human doctors and the Sh**y way they care for their dogs....does your practice as a whole disparage the medical field, or just some of your Doctors?Clients of all types, whether they are in the medical profession or not, are likely scared and nervous when they bring their sick or injured family members into your office...they should not be subjected to public ridicule for their lack of knowledge, especially on public posts on Facebook. Does your entire staff make a habit of disparaging your clients publicly?A few key phrases for those who dont want to read the whole statementYou dont know Jack!evidenced by how sh***y your dogs legits my way or the highwayAfter I set him straightSeriously? Its my way or the highway? Do your pet owners not have any say in the care their furry family members receive from your facility?? I am guessing that bedside manners were not the only class that Dr. Satorius slept through in Vet school.....I would not let her treat my worst enemy!I hope that the Dr. that brought in his poor puppy sees this post, so he can understand the complete lack of respect this woman(and by extension, your practice) has for her clients. This type of behavior is very unbecoming of a professional...I would NEVER recommend your clinic to anyone.
DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!!!!! This place is only concerned with taking as much money from you as possible. They dont care about you or your animal only how they can use your animal to get into your wallet!!! I took my cats here last weekend to get them treated for worms. They immediately took my cats and examined them without me being present. A doctor returned a few minutes later but the conversation was about all the possibilities of what could be wrong...though I brought them in to have a specific issue (worms) treated, I entertained the idea that it could be something else considering I was the only one in the room who hadnt attended medical school. A nurse returned a few mins later with TWO ESTIMATES RANGING FROM $900-1100...one for each cat detailing the need for over a dozen tests, meds & procedures. I was instantly furious because I knew exactly the game that was being played so I asked the nurse to explain why all of it was necessary. In response she literally started reading the estimate to me as fast as she could. I stopped her & reminded her that I could in fact read but wanted an explanation as to WHY each item was NECESSARY...again she started reading the invoice & again I stopped her to ask very bluntly do you know whats wrong with my cats or are you just going to make me test for EVERYTHING she admitted that they didnt know what was wrong with my cats. I asked for my cats back, which I still hadnt seen since they took them from me. (on a side note, theres another business that shares this exact same practice of keeping customers in the dark with high pressure tactics to spend alot of money while withholding a means to leave...CAR DEALERSHIPS!!! THIS is the level of care you should expect here!!!) Anyway, the nurse left & the doctor returned shortly to inquire why I was leaving without providing care...as if Im a piece of $#!+ owner for not just handing over my credit card or a blank check so they could go to work on my cats, even saying that if I dont get them taken care of within the next 24 hours THEIR LIVES COULD BE AT RISK!!! Again, 0 to rage in about 2 seconds!!! When I called them out on pressuring me to pay $1800-2200 to treat my cats & still not know if that if theyd be ok she said it would be Malpractice if she didnt. I said that I brought them in to be treated for worms so why exactly wont she treat them for worms before we do the other 7-8 tests & pump them full of meds they may or may not need? She finally relented, You have the option to wave everything and have them treated for worms. I could only say that this should have been offered before asking me for a couple thousand dollars & a high-pressure push to make me spend it in the context of saving my cats lives. Lets just say that I had to literally demand at least 3 times they give me my cats back because I dont want you to treat them as I feel I could take them ANYWHERE else & get better/trusted care (this was when she said they could die in the next day or two......but how do you know if you dont know whats wrong) before she finally let me leave. (Again, these are tactics used at CAR DEALERSHIPS!) They still charged me $170 to just look at my cats (in their defense, it was an emergency visit on a Saturday & I was aware of the office visit fees prior to taking my cats in but still, I literally paid people $170 to do nothing other than try to scam me for thousands!). Fast forward 72 hours, my cats were still alive & I took them both to the local vet who saw them, treated them for worms, gave us solid advice, medication, probiotics, and flea treatment ALL OF IT for $310 TOTAL!!! Both cats are doing great now! Just know that even if you have a positive experience at this clinic, youre grossly overpaying & you will probably pay for many unnecessary procedures, meds, tests, etc. Honestly, this place makes me sad...I love my cats & to think that the people who we should have an unspoken trust to value their lives as much as we do only see dollar signs when they look at us. BEWARE!!!
Thr service and staff are excellent. I have 3 dogs and I take all of them there for regular check-up and when they get sick and they get the best treatment.
This review is long over due & def should have been written sooner. This happened a while ago. I didnt know my 10 lb Yorker had ingested a small ball of plastic. All I knew was he kept heaving & trying to throw something up. It was close to midnight and when I called this place they suggested I could either continue to observe at home or could hang out in the office lobby in case he took a turn for the worse. I opted for option b. Got to the office & my dog stopped heaving from the time I left my house until I got to this place. I waited in the lobby and eventually my dog started heaving so thats when they had us go into an exam room. Vet explained he thought it was a small object that was stuck in the stomach & wouldnt pass. He was going over my options when all of a sudden my dog threw up the small plastic ball and the vet didnt even charge me. Sorry I do not remember the name of the vet but this wasnt the first time they did something like this.My other dog had ingested a pill that TLC in S. Pasadena wanted to change me $200 just to look at my dog when I needed to know if we should induce vomiting. I walked out of TLC and called this place who told me they thought my dog would be ok based on what I told them which was also what poison control told me too. Luckily my dog threw up the pill as I was driving there. Then my neighbors dog had surgery at another vets office but their dog was having complications and I called this place to get their advice and they suggested to bring the dog in. The dog had an infection so that was easily treated & price was reasonable. This place cares more about the animal then the dollar & they try to assess the situation over the phone with you before telling you to come in. And even then they suggested I sit in the lobby with my dog and observe before bringing him into the exam room.I trust them because they got their priorities straight and are actually trying to help before asking you for your credit card.
Excellent clinic, great vets and personnel, good prices, always accommodating.
Saved our puppys life! She had parvo and another vet did not catch it when we took her in so it wasnt treated immediately. Animal-AM vet diagnosed it immediately when we took her there (on a weekend because she was very sick), treated aggressively, and had her back home in a few days. It wasnt cheap, but they were very open about the cost and the odds as well as treated us and the dog very well, let us visit her in hospital.
Dr Mos,Was awesome and on target with the life expectancy of my girl PeeWee. Thank you Dr Mo.
This evening (October 14, 2016) at approximately 7:30 pm, I attempted to administer subcutaneous fluids to my Yorkshire terrier, Kimba, as directed by TLC Animal Hospital in South Pasadena. I made 5 unsuccessful attempts, so I contacted TLC, but was advised there were no appointments available until Monday. TLC diagnosed my dog with chronic kidney failure on Sunday, October 9, 2016 and she remained in their care for three days. On Wednesday, October 12, 2016, I was advised that she had to have subcutaneous treatments daily. Prior to me taking her home, a very nice technician gave me a quick demonstration on how it was suppose to be done. I was trying to take it all in as my head was spinning in disbelief, because I had never had to do this before. On Thursday, I was unsuccessful in getting the needle inserted, so I went to TLC and Jesus administers the fluid for $13. On Friday, October 14, 2016, my husband and I could not get the needle properly inserted. We were distraught, so I called around and Animal-AM Emergency Clinic of Pasadena told me to bring her in. I asked what the cost would be, so I could obtain the funds and was advised, so long as I had the products, it would be free of charge. OMG! I wouldve paid anything, but I was so impressed with that response. I rushed my dehydrated Kimba to their facility and was greeted by a young asian male, who was so kind and gentle with my Kimba! I cant thank you enough. I do not write reviews, but this was such a wonderful act of kindness, I felt compelled to say thank you, I really appreciated your kindness. I was so worried about my pet not being properly hydrated, because I was incapable of doing what I was instructed to do. Kimba is a member of my family and watching her suffer from dehydration, because I was incapable of inserting that fluid made me feel absolutely helpless! I cannot thank you enough. You truly were my hero this evening. If your facility ever needs volunteers for anything, please do not hesitate to ask, so long as its not inserting needles!:)Roshon
Love the staff and how kind they are to me and my fur baby.
My cat is better, I was blown away by how comfortable he was with you guys (even though he is usually skiddish with strangers and HATED the last time we went to the vet), and all of you were so helpful and friendly since the first phone call! I would DEFINITELY recommend this place.I brought my cat, Hoover, in yesterday, 5/30, Saturday around 6:00 pm. I was extremely happy with all the staff here. The only thing was the cost was more than I expected, however, that was completely fair since they were honest from my first call in that it would be emergency room hours. I got home from work yesterday, and saw that my cat vomited a few times that day and had diarrhea, and he looked uncomfortable and was rubbing is butt on the floor. The poor thing was uncomfortable and messy. So I called to ask questions on if I should bring him in, and they were extremely helpful from the beginning. When I brought my cat in, of course he was scared because he hates the cat carrier and is usually skiddish with new people. But compared to the last time I took him to the vet, it seemed he was much more comfortable with the the staff here. He was actually purring when the woman there was checking his vitals. Dr. Wang was honest about what was necessary, and said that his symptoms could be wide range of things. He gave me the option on weather or not to do more expensive tests to try and diagnose, but was honest and told me since he is eating and his vitals are fine, its not necessary right away. But he said if he still has symptoms in a couple days to bring him back. They gave him medication there, and some food samples to take home that would be better for his digestive system. They also gave some meds to take home for him, and showed me how to administer them. They even cleaned him up for me too because the poor thing was smelly. As soon as I got him home he was SOOO much better! He was even calm and purring and back to his snuggly self, with absolutely no lingering anxiety from JUST being at the vet. I wish I remember the other two staff members names because they were fantastic also. Thank all of you so so much!! I am so impressed by how great you were with him. It was such a relief to have him happy and healthy again so quickly!!
All good except for the 3 hour wait.
Go somewhere else. After problem with standard operation doctor never returned call. When we picked her up she started to bleed.
So far things are going well. Its the vaccinations records that need some work.
Dr. Mo and his staff are the best!
2.5 Hour wait just to be seen at 7pm.
Very god vets
