Contacted RJ Kuhn Plumbing after my basement contractor sent a list of referrals. They were so nice on the phone, helpful, and quick to answer questions before they even came out to look at the job and give an estimate. It took less than a week for them to come out (it was not an emergency) and when Rick came out he was super helpful. Some other companies handed me a flyer, said here this is what we sell and left, but he stayed and looked at my pumps, answered all of our questions, explained everything in tons of detail, and then promptly provided us with three different estimates, all which had different possibilities for the job. After I received the estimates we had a phone conversation to walk me through the proposals, make sure I understood the differences, and talk to me about what would be the best fit for our needs.Overall, I have been so pleased with my experience and would use RJ Kuhn again and would recommend them to family or friends. Even the woman who answers the phone is so nice and helpful!
Great service they were out within an hour and fixed my issue right away
Really disappointed in the service we received at this company. We were recommended this company by one of our neighbors and unfortunately did not have a good experience at all. We called them as our basement/sewer drains were backing up/overflowing. They ended up using the camera to figure out where the issue was. There was a clog that they cleared up for us, used the camera again to “assure it was clear” and we were then told that we should have no more issues. The problem is not even a month later and our sewer/basement drains are backing up AGAIN. We tried to call the company again to see if they had any sort of guarantee or even just to find out why this was happening again so soon, when we were initially told that we should have no more issues. When we called back because the issue was happening again ( not even a full month since they “fixed” our issue), they said that they had told us that we had a “rough sewer drain” and this was likely only a temporary fix (although we were not ever actually told this). During their initial visit, the two men that came to fix our sewer drains used a camera, “cleared the clog” and said that our drains were all cleared up. They showed my parents a video of “our drains” and it was completely black and nothing was visible. My parents being trusting, said they didn’t know what they were looking at, but they trusted him if he said that it was fixed. He told them he guaranteed them it wouldn’t happen again. When I called to talk to Rick he said that “there is no guarantee” and that his guys would’ve “never said that it was guaranteed to be fixed”. Today we hired new plumbers due to the fact that there was no guarantee. The new company we hired told us that they completely neglected to check the two other drains that were in the basement. They were both clogged and were completely dirty. It took them about an hour to fix our problems and it cost half the price for a better job. I did try to speak with Rick (one of the owners) on the issue and he quickly became defensive and he had no resolution for me, not a “let me help you fix this issue”, no “I’m sorry” Instead when I mentioned everything to him he said “I’ll make sure to never take you guys on as customers ever again”, not that we would ever want to use this company after the poor service and worse customer service. When I told him that I’d be posting a review on my poor experience and these scam /lazy at best services he stated “and I’ll respond to it”. Awaiting that response so he can continue to lie and say that they did everything correctly. An apology would have been a better way to go about this. I hope others think twice before utilizing this company, and if they do I hope your experience is better than the one we had!
Great plumber. Had blocked line out of the house. They were there in about 2 hours.
Our little drain clog adventure started at 9 PM Saturday, the day after Christmas. The toilet on the first floor started filling up while my son took a shower upstairs. Rick Kuhn was clear about the charges when I spoke with him and went out of his way to make sure his plumber Greg got to our house in time to finish the job before midnight so he wouldnt have to charge us double time, which I found out later was a common charge for a plumber to service on Sunday. Turned out our cast iron sewer pipe broke off outside the house. We were blessed to have time to get 3 quotes since the broken pipe still was able to drain into half of the pipe going out to the main line in the street. Turned out RJ Kuhn was slightly higher than the lowest quote, but way lower than the highest quote. Decided to with RJ Kuhn because I have used them in the past and never had any issues with their plumbing work. They also installed a new furnace and A/C for me and working with Jim with those quotes was the reason I decided to go with RJ Kuhn for the sewer job. Jim convinced me RJ Kuhn cared about my family.Greg and his associate plumber came in ~8 AM when the job was scheduled, followed all the COVID-19 mandates and were done with the entire job by 2. The guys cleaned up the basement very well considering how dirty this job was and even replanted my shrub and rose bush.I would definitely use RJ Kuhn first for all of my household artesian contractor needs. This is not a loyalty decision, but one made through trust. Even told Rick I was considering installing a bathtub with those massage jets and as expected, Rick said he would be happy to help.
I got an estimate to move the washer and dryer. It has now been 3 weeks and I have not received the quote nor a call. I called 3 times and they say they will look and call me back. Still have not received a call even letting me know how much longer to even receive the quote on how much it would cost.
Best plumbers in Chicagoland hands down period.
Noticed A/C not working this morning, I currently work from home, A/C is essential. Called RJ Kuhn, they came out within 2 hrs, Leo was great, everything was explained, he showed me what needed to be done, easy to talk to, great service & the cost was fair. Thank you for taking the stress out & making it an enjoyable experience.
Quick response. Todd was extremely professional and helpful. Not only did he completely resolve our issue, he also gave some helpful advise about our furnace pump. Total cost was within the estimated range. I hopefully wont have any issues for awhile, but if I do I will use these guys again and I would recommend them to anyone needing plumbing service. Thanks, Todd.
Excellent service. Replaced garbage disposal. Very prompt and professional. Highly recommend using Kuhn.
Fair reliable service there when you need them
Scam of a company the positive reviews are lies. They did on hell of a good job of ripping you off. I had to hire a different company.
Rick and Rob were responsive, professional and patient with me when I had a leaking toilet emergency. I am grateful to have RJ Kuhn locally in Oswego!
Cant even give me an estimate on what it would cost over the phone so I will know how much it will cost. I highly do not recommend
We had our complete heating and air conditioning systems replaced by RJ Kuhn and we are very satisfied. The people, and the work were very professional, on time and and a pleasure to work with. As part of the new installations, he reworked some of the house wiring and gas line routing which added to an already quality looking job.
Excellent service. Very thorough and knowledgeable, We requested a service check of both our HVAC and plumbing systems including sump pumps. RJ Kuhn provided both an HVAC professional and a plumber to cover their areas of expertise. Reasonable cost. We will continue to do business with them! Thanks,Mike & Tina C.
In the past year, Ive had RJ Kuhn out for 3 separate issues: repairing a tankless water heater, rodding our water line when it was blocked with tree roots (and at the last minute replacing my kitchen faucet in the same trip), and clearing out an exterior clogged drain (and tightening down a loose toilet). After working with Rob on site and Michele from the office, I will be hard-pressed to find another plumbing company I like this much when we move out of state. Rob is efficient and friendly and always gets the job done right (and indulges my curiosity by explaining how all the systems work that hes fixing). Michele is my go-to in the office because she is prompt, follows through, and goes the extra mile to make sure things get done efficiently. You can count on their pricing to be fair, and they wont nickle and dime you for every little thing. I can honestly say I will miss them when we move!
I cannot say enough good things about this company; from the office staff, to the tech and management, everyone was wonderful. They replaced my furnace and tested the AC. Every step was explained in detail, every question I had answered. Things were done in an incredibly timely manner. I highly recommend R. J. Kuhn as they truly go above and beyond. I will be telling all my friends in the area to use them.Thank you specifically to Jim, Norb, and Donna! You guys are the best.ETA: to the guy who said the positive reviews are fake? Mmm, nope. Real person here & wasnt compensated for this reviews. 🙄
Todd came out and cleared my kitchen sink drain in an hour. He was efficient and professional and I would use these guys again. Thanks!
We selected this company for a service call on our furnace based on its glowing reviews. The service was fine, it was the charge that was completely outrageous! Our furnace blower would not come on when we tried to turn the furnace on for the first time this season, we couldnt imagine what the problem was, so we gave them a call.Come to find out, the drain that handles the condensation that occurs normally with our type of furnace and the humidifier, had become clogged (even though we had the furnace ect. cleaned and checked a year ago) so the blower wouldnt come on due to water sitting there. The technician cleaned out the drain, which is in the basement floor next to the furnace, the associated 6-7 hoses and ran about a gallon of water down the pvc pipe connected to the furnace/humidifier to further clean everything out. This took in total, including the diagnosis time, about an hour. Im not including the additional 35 minutes or so the technician spent afterwards on the phone in his vehicle or writing/rewriting the service report in our home. This repair didnt require going outside, nor any parts and was on a Thursday morning, so normal service call fee applied. The grand total for this hour of diagnosis and repair? $432.00!! That pouring an additional gal of water down the pipe part? $82 of it was just for that, what does that tell you?Last but not least, we were never offered a repair estimate before the work was done, but were handed one along with the bill.NEVER AGAIN!!
Weve used them for many years! Helpful as usual!!!
Good service, decent price.
Thank you very much for your prompt service today. Also, I want to thank you for the permanent fix for the situation which led to the service call.
Ive used RJ Kuhn for many years both at my home and business for HVAC and plumbing needs. They did an excellent job repairing both of our roof top units this past winter. I also had them install a reverse osmosis system at our office for drinking water.
Way over charged, will not be using them for the 4 other plumping projects we have. Our usual plumber drives all the way from Coal City to Plainfield and does NOT charge us for driving time!
RJ Kuhn has helped me in so many situations! So happy with their service and their product.
Very helpful support from Rick and team
Great service but a little expensive.
