Where to begin, I have a similar review to the other negative reviews. My membership was frozen during covid while I waited for renovations to be completed. I have been a member for about 8-10yrs. I went back to the gym in 2021, excited to see the renovations and unfreeze my account. I was informed that now it’s a premium club and my fees have doubled. This certainly had never been communicated during the renovation process or anytime at all. I filled out the contract and opted for checking withdrawal for payment. I didn’t have my checking info on me so I told her I would call back later with that info. I thought about it more and decided not to call with my checking info and not to return to the gym. A month later they started charging my credit card they had on file from when my account was froze even though the updated contract didn’t have my approval to charge my card. At no point did I receive a call asking for my checking info. I emailed with some corporate contact who eventually cancelled my account and waived my cancellation fee, I still have that email. I then disputed my credit card charges because I did not authorize card charges on the contract. Today I got a call from the gym telling me I owe them a cancellation fee because I didn’t give a 30 day notice. That is false since then corporate contact I spoke with told me he waived my cancellation fee and “no further payments are do”. I told the gal I talked to today that I have the email if she wants it and she said that the email doesn’t matter. I politely told her I wouldn’t be paying anything since I never returned to the gym after the day I initially went back. She told me they would call me every 2 weeks until I pay a fee that I was told was waived. The gym is fantastic, it’s the management that isn’t.

I have been going to the westroads location for over three years now. Now that they have finished what they call upgrades they want me to pay more for a premiere package to be able to work out there. This is also after paying a once a year fee called an enhancement or upgrade fee. Also when me and my wife signed up with club genesis they told us about all these great renovations coming. The reality is that they brought a sub par building and facility up to par. That’s it. It looks nicer and they got the smell out of the locker room.

Ive been coming to this genesis for a couple years now. We started coming here after being members at the YMCA and couldnt be happier with this place. I love the community, people are genuinely working on their health and goals, and I dont feel as self conscious as I did at other gyms. I used to actively avoid going to the gym and now it is one of the highlights of my day. I feel so accomplished! The staff are all friendly as well. The group class teachers are really good. I have been working with a personal trainer, which has been so helpful for my health, Gary is really great! This location has a lot of amenities that most gyms dont have, like a shared sauna, hot tub and steam room, not to mention the variety of open work out areas. The locker rooms are nice and open, but still feel very private for changing. I would recommend this gym location to anyone. It is worth the extra cost for this gym.

I originally signed up for membership at the cass location with an employee named Matt. I was told at the time of signing that this was a 14 month contract. I was never given a hard copy of my contract, until today when I went to try and cancel it. I used the membership a handful of times before deciding to not return for the rest of my contract because of how dirty the location was and a lot of the equipment was either broken or missing attachments. A couple months into my contract, a membership add on was added to my account without my knowledge. After noticing this add on, I attempted to cancel the add on 3 separate times before it was finally cancelled. Fast forward to today, I went to the cass location to cancel my membership and was told that my contract was for 18 months and there was no such thing as a 14 month contract. I was told I could go to the Westroads location to dispute the miscommunication with Matt would had originally signed me up. Matt was busy when I arrived to the Westroads location so I talked with Geri, the club manager, who was very rude. She kept interrupting me and simply reading a contract from her computer screen word for word instead of listening to my situation. She told me that my only option was to pay a $100 cancellation fee plus membership fees for the month of October as a 30 day notice. The communication when signing up was very misleading and sneaky. I am highly disappointed with my experience with Genesis Health Club and would not recommend this gym to anyone.

Great place to workout and awesome atmosphere. However beware they charge more! Other genesis locations have just as nice equipment and they don’t have anything crazy special worth that much more money per month. Really wish they didn’t charge more as I loved this location.

We have been coming to genesis for a while and even after the upgrades we have still been coming, then all the sudden today we were told we have to have a “premium” membership to come here. It’s $71 and it’s not a premium gym- they have the same things as the other gym. I would save yourself the money and not go to this location.

Not bad at all for childrens tennis lessons. Theyve got public, theyve got private lessons. The courts are great after the renovation. Cant say much about the gym side of the business. Equipment is new and plenty. Thats about it.

I’ve been coming to this location since it reopened after the remodel and absolutely love it. The classes are engaging, they have different kinds of events, and the weight area is always clean and organized. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, and I often times enjoy getting a shake at their shake bar after a work out. Highly recommend this gym!

Facilities are pretty nice but management doesn’t care if staff are sick, Covid test or not they just tell them to come in anyway even if they work the front desk. The owner is shadier than the cottonwood tree in my backyard. Also they give people a free shirt for giving a 5 star review

Tennis courts are beautiful 😍 5 courts, well spaced, and nice surfacing. Pool is still under construction but looks clutch. Locker room still under construction and unusable as of 1/30/2021.

The equipment is extremely versatile and there’s plenty of equipment so you don’t have to wait for stuff to open up. Locker rooms are clean, and the front desk is extremely helpful and does whatever they can to help you out.

I like the club. Nice facility. But……The music agonizingly loud. And then every 15 minutes Hi shrill voice comes on advertising for the club itself I have to plug my ears. Asked if they would consider lowering the music volume in the afternoon given the demographic of older retired folks.. No response from the people at the desk. The woman that runs the place Was not receptive.

I had used this gym a handful of times before the renovation and it fit the bill fine. I was excited to hear about the renovation as most of the Genesis gyms in Omaha are looking somewhat tired. After going the first time once they reopened I was informed I would have to pay an extra fee to use this gym even though I had access to it prior. My monthly membership would cost more than Lifetime and some personal training gyms now. I am very disappointed that after being a member for 3 years that I need to almost double my membership to use one gym.

I pay more than any other gym in town because it is a “premier” gym but there are no extra features compared to the other genesis locations. The shake/smoothie bar is consistently out products (more than 10 times have I not been able to order in the last 6 months). There is no dry sauna. The gym has been open for months but there hasn’t been one installed. So I feel like i am paying for amenities I am not receiving. The worst part of the gym is that it is not 24 hours. I pay an arm and a leg but I can’t work out most days because they close at 9 on weekdays and 6 on weekends.

I appreciate the friendly greetings and the great selection of equipmentHowever, I would appreciate more attention being paid to the mens locker room(dispensers empty for more than a day and maybe some signs to remind members to put their towels in the proper place when theyre done).

Incredible newly updated facility! This is what is known as a premier Genesis club - part of an additional tier of membership. I can see why its called premier - wow! Beautiful and immaculate locker room and showers, incredible array of equipment, fitness, free weights and class options; very helpful staff. If you want to pay for the best, this is probably what youre looking for!

*update*In the span of an hour Im dropping this rating to a one star. As Im leaving, I find out the front desk attendant is sick with the flu and is being forced to work by management. Apparently, when he tells them he is sick, they say youre on from 2-9, figure it out. That is a pretty big red flag on how this gym is operated. If I didnt already lock myself into a year contract Id be finding a new place to workout.Message to management: be better.

I went to this facility yesterday and was told that I needed to pay a $5.00 fee to workout. I told the person that I was a member and had never been ask to pay a fee before. He said something about it should have started in March or something. I just left and went to the club on 132nd without incident. This was around 6:30 and I didnt get the name of the person at the front desk but he was not helpful. Whats the purpose of paying a membership fee each month and still being charge. Very frustrated.

The new renovations at this place are amazing. Top of the line equipment. Very roomy and usually not to crowded. A+ experience so far. Highly recommended.

Really nice facility after renovations. I originally went to the Shadow Lake location for initial sign up where they were very clear about this location being a premier location in the future. So the extra amount was clearly given. It’s got everything you’d want in a gym (need that sauna though!). Full pool, basketball court as well. Staff is awesome and friendly as well. Parking lot could use some work next 😁 Definitely recommend!!!

I love coming to this location . I can grab a quick smoothie across the street and come in and workout, i love the breakdown of each floor, cardio, and weights and more, super friendly staff also.

I met Dave today at the Westroads and he was amazing. He greeted me with a smile and was very energetic. He offered to make a smoothie for me after my workout and it was delicious.

I wish I could give you lower than 1 star... I have signed for a membership and then I changed my mind(Im glad I did). the next day I went there I told the manager (Matt) I dont want to be a member anymore and I want my money back. Oohhh my God, since June 1st until nowadays (September) they never gave me my money every time I call they would say :it would take 30 to 45 days...... yeeww its past 2 months now, come on Im sick and tired of waiting shame on you .

Best gym in town and Ive been to them all, including every Genesis in Omaha! But seriously, Ive had a membership at all the other competition in the past but this place feels like home. Ive also lost more weight in the shortest amount of time, with help from my awesome trainer Belle! 10/10 Recommend this gym/location!

Very friendly front desk. Everyone we have encountered has been super friendly and helpful. Smoothies are great. The gym is shears clean . Barv always says hello and good day .

Was super excited to see the new renovations, and was not disappointed. Plenty of machines and most importantly, a lot of squat racks. My only hope is that maybe one day this amazing facility will become 24 hour.

Great facility and friendly staff. There is never any wait for equipment because of how big the gym is - 8 squat racks with packed weights is a dream come true for powerlifters!

The place is always clean and the weights put away when not in use. My favorite thing is the variety of equipment. I never have to wait for anything and everyone is friendly.

We have been members since Genesis first came to Omaha, and was just told I can no longer use this location because it’s a premium location and I’m only a gold member, or I can pay a $5 walk-in fee. HELL NO. I was there hundreds of times before Covid started and have been working out at home since. I finally went back today and they wouldn’t let me in. Between this, and the multiple friends I’ve had that have been charged extra months after cancelling their memberships, they’ve proven they just want money and don’t care about anything else. It’s a shame they own so many gyms in Omaha.

Belle is the BEST! Im not a natural athlete, but Belle gives me workouts that are doable & challenging for my level of fitness. Westroads is such a fantastic gym. The renovation was definitely worth the wait!

It was great, although there are a few things that need attention, overall the recent renovation looks great! Locker rooms are very comfortable and look outstanding. I hope to keep going back every day!

Ive been a genesis member for a year and recently joined the renovated location by top golf, gotta say Im extremely satisfied with the new renovation, Ive never had to wait for a machine to become available - the cleanliness is amazing and the people that workout are quite friendly, the staff is always welcoming, make sure you say hi to Troy, hes super cool!!!!

Ive been a Genesis member for two years. Prior to the renovations, Westroads was the location I used the most. I was excited when I heard they were re-opening. Went there the first time, no problem. Went to Westroads last Tuesday 3/30 and was informed that I wasnt a premium member. The lady at the front desk said I would have to pay more per month to continue going to that location or I could pay an additional fee per time I went to the gym. I was furious. Not once did they say that fees would be going up and that current members would have to pay more to go to this location. Very unprofessional and misleading. Needless to say, once my lock in three year membership is up next year, I will be cancelling my membership and going elsewhere.

Everyone is super friendly. Belle is an amazing trainer and has the best bootcamps. Love the protein shake options. Downside only open till 9 and no night yoga class at this time.

Customer be warned. Cancelling your membership is a NIGHTMARE. Genesis makes it near impossible to cancel. When you do cancel.. they will continue trying to bill you (for literally years). Countless phone calls to get membership cancelled with corporate.. and 2+ years later Genesis (on behalf of a debt collector in Kansas) is SUING over a couple hundred bucks (they claim are owed) but is somehow now thousands of dollars.This company is a disgrace. If I could give it less than one star I would. OH.. dont ever tell them the names of friends or family members.. they will call them (FOR YEARS) trying to sign them up.. all the while suing for cancellation fees. F this place.

The newly reopened Westroads location has really improved. It’s modern, CLEAN and has every amenity I want. I’m lifting weights, doing yoga and taking part much more.

There have been a few bumps with the remodel but for the most part this has been one of the best health club experiences I’ve had. The amenities are spectacular and when everything is up and running and the kinks are worked out, this gym will be a five star for sure!

Great workout every time I come. Trainer (Belle) is amazing to work with. The new facility is has any kind of workout I want to do regardless of the day.

Rejoined this club because they decided to buy out all the Athletic clubs in Omaha and thought Id give them a second chance because they said I could use any Genesis. Been going to this location for about a month now and on Sunday at 7am i get hassled about not being a premium member. All good and I ask how much more will it be a month and he doesnt know and ill have to call or come in when a sales person is in. I call the next day and they say someone isnt in that can help me but she took my number and said shed go check if they were in. They hang-up on me and I never get a call back. Its a terrible idea to exclude customers from a location and make paying $63 a month feel like youre paying second tier rates and youre not as important. Hope someone reaches out to me now after I had to post this review.

This place has to be the best around omaha, we toured many places and Genesis has the friendliest staff. We go to the westroads location but all are so amazing.

It doesnt seem many people have rediscovered this location since it reopened. The power racks and training pitch are a dream. They also kept the old pullup bars I can reach without jumping. But I still prefer Cass because of its hours.

Very good staff and clean and good condition equipment every time I come.

Very nice renovation of Genesis Westroads. Women’s locker room very nice. Music too loud in fitness area.

Was originally a member at Prairie life but they got bought out by a club who got bought out by Genesis so i became a member. Price didn’t change and started working out at the Westroads location, which had just reopened form renovations. Renovations are nice, a lot of good space and has good equipment. Good gym and CrossFit area, basketball court as well. Work out there for a few months and then I’m told one day when I check in that I have a gold membership, and that gold gets you in every other genesis club besides westroads. You have to be a premium member to work out at this one. Ask what that means and the desk worker doesn’t know, says meet with a sales rep later and doesn’t “upcharge” me for the day. Go back next day and the sales rep tells me that to workout there, I have have to platinum or premium or whatever and that my bill will go up $20. I’m out. gym is nice but I’m not going to just up and give $20 more bucks when I already pay a fairly high amount compared to most other gyms in Omaha. Would have been nice to have some communication about the pricing beforehand instead of just being told this is what I had to pay to continue to work out there. Soured me on the gym and genesis as a whole.

Lets begin, my wife and I have been members with Genesis for 7 years. Pre-Westroads and everything. Lately because they want to become to premium facility they have increased members who use the Westroads location and additional $33 per month because of renovations. ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE in my contract did it say that I did not have access to all gyms and the increase in price but that in a month to month contract. No notifications no nothing. Let me do you a favor and save the money on this place. Its cool dont get me wrong, but the business seems to be shady with how they handle things, $100 a month for this place. Ya right. DEFINATELY taking this to the BBB.PSA: still no contact from a club manager. fake promises.

I was going to the westroads location for three years when genesis started their remodel. Talked to multiple people on the staff and asked if my price would go up they all said no since I am already a member. Now they are telling me that I need to double my membership fees or I can’t go to this location anymore. Management should have communicated better that prices were going to change and not sprung this on the customers. I have two friends that I lift with and both were grandfathered in after the remodel so I can’t even train with them anymore. I have been a member of this gym for 7 years and now I’m considering quitting as this underhanded move feels like I am being cheated. I do not recommend anyone to join the westroads genesis as they are trying to charge an insane amount. Instead of only allowing premiere members in the gym, why not restrict the classes and tennis and cycle class and pool to people who have the premiere. That way us lower class members can still have access to the weights and cardio? But that probably make too much sense. I really hope they don’t decide to remodel the rest of the gyms and kick me out of those as well.

The teams that work at each location in Omaha - phenomenal. Specific shout-out to Jayden at the Cass Street location (used to work at the 144th and F facility) and Jason at Sprague (who also worked at 144th and F). Strong customer service skills. Also, greatly appreciate the way that Genesis handled the Pandemic. Although it wasnt fun to have the gyms closed, it was the right decision at the right time. Further, re-opening procedures were well thought out and communicated clearly. Appreciate you all!

Pretty nice gym. Used the showers twice and they look pretty nice but not a lot of water pressure and the water was only luke warm at 5pm.If you want premium prices then how about some premium water thats hot and some shower heads like at the Aksarben gym?I occasionally would like to use this gym when im on that side of town. Sadly its probably not worth it since im never at westroads.

That location is one of the main reasons I joined Genesis to begin with. That, and the fact that they dont descriminate against people who are serious about lifting (i.e., they dont ban deadlifting or charge a premium to use a deadlift platform). Its really disappointing how they handled the revent changes at Westroads, but Im no longer allowed at that location unless I pay an additional $33 a month. I was originally contacted by a trainer 2 years ago from the Aksarben location, so Im technically tied there. I only use the freeweights (never used the pool, basketball courts, sauna, etc.) and have a high preference for that location because its half the distance to any other club. Overall, their gyms are really nice, but a little expensive if youre only interested in weighifting/cardio compared to alternatives. The staff can be hit and miss. Some are super nice and personable, and others act like they dont care. Disappointed in how they decided to handle the changes with Westroads now being a premium club. There was very little communication around this change, and even though its practically the only location Ive gone too, Im not tied to it financially so theyre not willing to grandfather me in.EDIT: Management never reached out. These responses are clearly just a ploy to make people think they care.
