First day at the gym was great. Took a water aerobics class and had lots of fun. I would give it 5 stars but they werent able to get me my membership card today because I signed up online yesterday and wasnt in the system.
It is nice! Lots of room no one is on top of each other. Very clean.
I am just here visiting NE for a month. Genesis was nice to let me workout there for the month since there is no fitness center I go to here. I was able to bring the grand kids and we swam . The staff is very nice. Place is cleanand the equipment is well kept.
For the money this gym is great. They offer many different activities. Racquetball, free weights, machines, cardio equipment, pool, tennis, spinning etc. Open good hours 7 days a week. Friendly staff. They could improve equipment maintenance and cleaning.
Nice club, clean areas. Recent updates to the layout is really nice and adds additional space for weights/open space. Can get a bit crowded since it became Genesis but additional space makes it tolerable. My preferred Genesis gym
It was great to get back into the gym after a very long Covid break. Everyone was very friendly, and the staff was more than helpful. The employees made me feel very welcome. The gym was also kept clean, and sanitizers were convenient to use as needed. Keep up the good work!!
The place has completely fallen apart. It has become rather dirty, they removed all of the spray/towel stations for wiping down the equipment after using it and they are typically out of towels for working out and using the locker rooms/shower facilities --while the front check-in desk tries to keep up, you look to the left and the guys sitting at the desks are playing on their cell phones.
This is my “Home club” and my community where I have drastically improved my health and fitness with the help of trainers, coaches in classes and my friends. It’s a very friendly club and I’ve made lots of long term friends. Everyone has been supportive throughout my entire journey. No judgement — only supportive environment.
Friendly staff, good equipment, lots of things to do, and always clean.
Garrett is a great personal trainer! Compassionate, kind and he really helps you push yourself a bit further than you thought you could go. Also the club is nice.
Amazing facility, with staff that cares. Jon Ridout, the new GM, goes above and beyond to treat his customers with upmost respect. He definitely is a great face for the company! Would recommend 10/10!
Pretty nice gym. Really like the outdoor pool for the kids
The gym is always overcrowded. They charged me twice for my initial payment. I called four times and left a number but my call was never returned. I ended up having to call my credit card company and my bank to stop any future transactions. They offered 4 free training sessions as a perk for signing up and never delivered. When I would go in, they did not know what I was talking about. And I believe them. The sales guy lied to me. Lifetime is not that much more expensive, Id go there.Update: They did reach out and have assured me they will take steps to improve.
Jon is absolutely amazing to work with- great customer service!
Very welcoming club. Always greeted warmly and when leaving with a goodbye.Clean towels always available.Good overall club.
Best gym around! Great staff and professionalism! Definitely recommend!
Amazing experience here. Great staff.
A great place to work out, and get back into shape! Any problems, ask for Jon/GM!
The equipment is new and smooth. Plenty of variety and great lighting!
Arron did a great job showing us around. Explained everything to us very knowledgeable. Looking forward to using our membership.
Such a nice gym and great environment. I love the variety of workouts I can do here and the selection of amenities. The staff is very professional and really friendly.Things to improve on.More visible and readable towel baskets.New paint to liven up the appeal.Update the signs with fresh colors.Basketball court needs a shade from the sun. It is hard to play with sun in your eyes.Overall. This Gym is Excellent 5 Stars!
Management and staff always attentive to needs and concerns. Facility is top notch and always clean
Everything is clean and works well. The staff is always friendly.
Look the gym itself is nice and Ive been enjoying it since the f street genesis closed. Ive been coming on a regular basis and the staffs usually been pretty awesome, I usually take my family to go swimming like we have been doing ever since I hopped over on their black Friday deal last year was told they matched my family plan at my other gym pricing and all, it was an awesome deal and I took it. Ive never had an issue with bringing my family until tonight the guy that checks us in all the time decided to raise an issue because apparently the guy that signed me up didnt list their names on my account(never been an issue before), then proceeded to throw him under the bus and blame it on f streets poorly run management. This is not really my problem Im just the customer. So I proceeded to talk with the manager(Im assuming) about getting it sorted out, and she gave me the runaround about it and was quick to offer to add them on for more money seriously?! the deal Im supposed to be under now was supposed to have them already on it and I get charged the price matched rate of my previous family plan. Why today of all days they just randomly decided to raise issue baffles me, Im literally there 4-5x a week. The lack of communication here is extremely annoying!
Got to pick your workout time strategically to avoid the meat heads, but overall its a nice gym.
Can’t do anything in this gym. No calf raises on the stairs. No deadlift’s. Don’t refill glucose levels with a quick snack. Don’t take gym bags upstairs. Basically, this location is a planet fitness for the middle class. Only thing missing is the free pizza and lunk alarms. Apparently the only thing you won’t receive feedback for is not re-racking your weight. Basically, no matter what’s going on, the staff always has something to say. I’m glad there are multiple other locations. Never had an issue with any of the others.
Nice to cancel your membership when it was the athletic club. Then they get bought out from genesis health club. They they start charging your account agian and wont pay you the dues back. So here is a hint. If you open an account for you family. Make sure your specifically cancle them even your 6m month old son at that time or they will charge you 50 bucks a month and say well it was still on the same bank account but you only said close your accounts.....like for real my 6 month old son is going to go to the gym. My wife cant even work out. Then you will show them the emails showing you cancled it and they act like it was only yours. I am in the process of talking to corporate now about how this was handled.
The instructors here are really great. Classes keep me fit and smiling. Facility offers everything. Two pools, all sorts of machines on two floors. Walking/running track. And it is CLEAN. A great place to start or end your day or get a lift in the middle.
Want to compete in body building? See Trenton on 132nd and center! #gains
It isnt like it was in 2015. Lockers space has increased but locker quantity was cut seemingly in half. Lots of the long time upper staff seem to have left which is a shame. Hours are also very hard to work with if you are primarily only able to workout late in the night. I loved it when they were open till 12am.
Ive been a member of the facility at 132nd and Center for 13+ years. Been through three different owners and yet the staff and facility are still amazing. Lets see how Genesis Health Clubs treats its members and handles all of the upkeep of the equipment. Ill post another review in 6 months to a year with an update.
People are friendly nice hot tub, indoor & outdoor pool. Has good options for all age levels & fitness needs.
So happy that Genesis purchased this health-club! It makes a wonderful addition to avaliable gyms in the Omaha metro area. I love the amenities, cardio room, courts, indoor/outdoor pools, weight room setup, but especially the spa-like feel of the hot tub & saunas in the locker room. Arguably my new favorite Genesis location.
Used to go here under different management, and under Genesis - its gotten much better than it was. Definitely gonna be a regular here. Workout here. Definitely worth your time.
Good price for the amount of amenities they offer.
Clean...well kept...good machines....steam room down...that was a bummer
Every location has been great so far!
This gym has no chain of command resulting in tyranny style of management. If there is an issue of concern, they will not give you a Regional Manager or Owner whom you can contact. Each gym is given the okay to make up their own rules.Case in Point: Brett who manages the 132nd & Center location made a unilateral decision that no person is allowed to watch ANY news channels while working out. His reason as he explained it is that news is a negativity, because people disagree over the political climate. I suggested that since there were more than a dozen TVs, why not set a Channel to Fox and another one to CNN giving clients the choice to watch what they chose. Every other club does this and experiences no problems. Additionally, there would still be at least 10 TVs for sports, food channel, sitcoms, etc.. This is the USA not a Communist country. I do not want a manager to regulate what I can listen to or watch while I am working out. For this reason, I will never join this health club as long as it is managed by individual dictators. Its too bad, because it is a nice facility.
Great staff, pristine and well maintained equipment !
This is your club...if you want a place that is too cheap to fix stuff and for some reason just cant provide a basic clean of the locker rooms. I was a member of PLC years ago, and have been through this ugly transition...this is nowhere near where PLC was even three years ago. Sad. I wouldnt recommend genesis to my enemy (if I had one).
I used to belong to PLF. Left for 1yr at another club. Rejoined and found out Genesis had reactivated my account, without my permission, back in July 2020. Hot tub at 132nd & Center needs water and a good cleaning. 84th & Q needs updating.
Hot tub is my favorite.
This club is awesome. All of the equipment is brand new. Very clean facility. Seems to be a very busy location for Genesis. The out door pool is awesome in the summer.
Awsome gym i like it
Great place to work out.
This facility is so nice and clean, my family and I instantly fell In love. We signed up for a family plan in the end of June. Upon sign up, I paid for the remainder of June and the entire month of July in full. Long story short I was DOUBLE charged in August ( my first automatic payment). This was never disclosed with me. I have called 3 times and have been given 3 different stories of what has happened! First guy Glen seemed confused, had an idea but wanted to pass it over to management, I never heard back from anyone. So I called back and reached Ali (who I signed up with) she herself seemed confused and said she would call back, and she didn’t. So my wife called and spoke with a manager. She then explained what happened. Then said she would contact someone higher to resolve the issue. Again we have yet to hear back from anyone. I have never been treated so poorly by a business or establishment. At this point I would love to just terminate my contract and forget about this horror story.
This place is fantastic. Best gym Ive ever been to!
Excellent management, service and facilities
Genesis on 132nd & Center is a very nice gym with quite a few extra amenities you wont find at other locations (indoor and outdoor pools, showers, sauna, steam room, towel service, etc.). It is clean with a lot of staff on site. Most of the equipment is new, and everything is in working order. The only negative is it isnt very lifter friendly. There is a no bag rule, so if you bring a belt, lifting shoes, straps, wraps, braces, etc., be prepared to juggle all of that in your arms up and down a flight of stairs between the locker room and the weight area. Also, putting the weights down with any kind of noise will get you talked to, so you will need to control the negatives on your deadlifts. Forget about any Olympic lifts, even though they have three excellent Hammer Strength platforms made for it. It isnt quite as bad as Planet Fitness, but it is close. Also, these rules only exist at this location. No other Genesis does anything weird like this. This facility is one of the nicest Genesis locations Ive visited. Unfortunately, the particular rules make it too inconvenient for me to lift here. It is a great gym if you like cardio, classes, pools, and dont plan on picking up anything heavy.Update: The business replied and asked me to send an email explaining the issues, which I did within a few days. It has been six months with no official response. The issues still with this location still persist. The gym is almost unusable for anybody serious about weightlifting.Update 6.23.21: I just revisited this gym and the new general manager Jon has really turned this place around. The staff is all friendly and they no longer harass weightlifters. It is one of the nicest Genesis locations in Omaha.
HEARTLESS SCAM now. Been a member at this gym for 5 years. Suddenly last year I started having mysterious dislocations and long term muscle tares from ordinary work outs. Even stretching would put me in bed for days. Turns out I have M.S. absolutely cannot do Anything without damaging my connective tissue. They refuse to let me out of my contract after all these years. Not even for medical or financial hardships. I cant afford my treatment, Im being evicted and I can barely afford enough food to survive....yet every month they bill me. Every month its a different amount also....no one returns any of my calls. Now I can not even drive there if I wanted to. They do not give a hoot about you!
I recently joined this gym, primarily because of the amenities it advertises. I’ve been disappointed with this location (132nd/Center), however. Both the hot tub and steam room have been down. The swimsuit spinner has also been broken. When I brought it up to the management my complaints were not taken seriously. There was no apology, nor an estimated time for when all the amenities were expected to be ready for use again. The women’s restroom is also not tended to very well. I am not at all impressed by this place. The midtown location is much more appealing to me, and seems to have a more caring and welcoming staff.
Horrible Management, Brent Bradley is very unprofessional. I came in to sign a cancellation paper and they “lost” my paperwork and made me return and pay a fee otherwise they were going to still charge my account. Would never recommend this place or location to anyone. Very disappointed especially when I came into the location and he refused to speak with me. I would not even give them a 1-star review.
Friendly staff!! Well maintained!!
Great friendly staff and clean workout space!
Friendly staff and great facility.
My favorite location of the Genesis clubs in Omaha. Friendly staff, modern facility, and overall a great place to work out.
I started coming to this location last summer, because of the pool. It was the least convenient of the OMA gyms, but the facilities and the pool in summer are what got me coming here. There renovated the mens (and Im assuming womens) locker room and got rid of some machines and organized the others. Overall, this location has the nicest staff and seems to be the one to utilize.
They do everything well. Looks somewhat 70s in the inside. Very friendly and attentive staff. I do love this place however. Best old man pickup basketball in Omaha (M-W-F @ 6am and 11a-1p, Sat from 10am-noon and T-Th 7-9pm). Ive heard the racquetball competition is top notch as well.
Am very disappointed with how the club is now maintained. Showers are dirty and they are doing nothing to fix the outdoor pool. A bit concerned because the people who come from other genesis clubs say we are way cleaner than theirs. I could go on but will stop with this.
Employees are very friendly.
By far the worst experience I’ve ever had in a gym. I paid to be there just like the rest of the members, but was treated poorly. A worker, I’m assuming he’s the manager, was completely condescending and rude to me and my friends. I was attending the boxing work out room for the first time and after about 15 minutes the worker comes in and rudely says “The fact that the lights are off should be a sign for you to get out”. First of all sir, you do not need to approach anyone that way, especially your paying customers. I had no idea that the room was “closed”, mostly due to the fact the doors were unlocked and there was no indication or sign displaying that the room was “closed”. This is the second issue I’ve had with that same worker and feel as if I’m being targeted. I will be pursuing this issue further and hope that this business learns how to treat paying guest with respect and dignity. Do not go to this gym, you will be very disappointed. Shame on your staff for treating us like this!
Great family environment! Love the kids club and all the activities they have for the kiddos while I am working out!
Love going to swim with my 10 year old daughter. Always kid friendly. I love to workout at their upstairs gym before going for a nice tan and swim :)
Love this place! Glenn was an absolute delight to work with, really great guy. I prefer this place over Lifetime because its less crowded, easier to access and much more reasonably priced. They also have a better weights area.
I have been a member of Athletic club over a year and is acquired by Genesis recently. I have been complaining about Heater not working in kids basketball court over two weeks and didnt fixed the issue. I even escalated to their manager but didnt cared much. Customer service is terrible Post Genesis migration, If this is not resolved our whole group will find another club.
Expensive, family of four would pay $141 month + tax. And after 90 days pay maintenance fee $45 times 3. Total almost 2k a year. Great swimming pool and locker rooms.TVs are too small during exercise.Used to be a member for years.
I like Prairie Life, great equipment, pool, spa and wirl pool. The parking lot is a little confusing until you realize that it is one way around, my daughter was confused and went the wrong way until I pointed it out to her. I would love to get a membership here but it is a little out if our families price range. I pay $42 a month at a health club for my son and I, here at Prairie Life it is $59 a month for a single person. If you can afford it I would recommend getting a membership here.
Privacy is not taken seriously here or upheld as they say in your contract with them that states that your information will not be sent to a 3rd party. I had a private photo taken of me by an EMPLOYEE who was on the clock working. Even with proof of this happening(the picture and statement from the employee that they did this on record!), club management refuses to acknowledged that they did wrong, never given an apology, steps to rectify the situation, or care that this happened. Steer clear of any and all of these facilities!
I have had nothing but great experiences here. I sent my contact information through their website and the same day I got a reply and I set up a tour withing a few hours. Kayla answered all of my questions and got me set up to workout the same day. The facilities are always clean, all the staff has been friendly. I have absolutely no complaints!
Good gym. Great staff.
Select Physical Therapy is located inside Prairie Life on 132nd and Center. I have been working with Nick for 5 weeks recovering from a shoulder replacement surgery. I am doing great with therapy, even ahead of schedule. All of my appointments have been on time. Karen is awesome in the office helping with paperwork. Nate is the other P.T. and he is always friendly and helpful too. I have been telling all my friends and co-workers about this facility. Worth 5+ stars
I was a member before. I like the new improvements with the exception of the lockers not being numbered and no hose in the steam room to activate the steam. Towels seem to be hard to come by
The staff is friendly. the buildings and pools are nice. The kitchen needs to offer more variety of food they have been serving exactly the same dishes for 4 years. A monthly membership is almost as expensive as lifetime but the facility and amenities are not even close to at that level
The facilities are nice, basic but nice. They get feedback on the cafe constantly but never change anything. The food has been exactly the same for more than 3 years. It has no calorie counts, and they dont offer anything different ever except a smoothie and soup in the winter.
Now that prairie Life fitness has changed to the Athletic club it was a poor showing. No new equipment, all the treadmills are only 8 in apart. They took away half of the basketball court. Theres no clean towels, no disinfectant, TVs dont work, trash in the mens restroom paint cans all over the place in the locker room, limited staff with lack of knowledge. I could probably go on and on but Im sure you guys get the picture without being able to post a picture of the mess that has been created.
Upgraded from Planet Fitness and enjoying the experience. Prarie Life offers a true Club experience. Plenty of amenities, the staff are friendly and helpful. Sure its a higher price-point, but it feels like its worth it.
Clean facility, friendly staff. Good hours. New equipment.
I absolutely love this location!I have visited just about every one of the Prairie Life Fitness Center locations in Omaha, Downtown Omaha, and in Lincoln on both A&P Street. While the Lincoln location on P Street is my favorite home away from home because of its cozy close-knit family type environment, this location is my go-to throughout the week. This site features a wide variety of activities and amenities choose from, and includes activities for the kiddos too! Kids will be super vised and engaged by the staff during the time that theyre being watched which I greatly appreciated. And dont even get me started on how awesome the classes are! The teachers for aerobic classes and especially those Pilates classes are very well trained, and the classes themselves are tons of fun you will learn a lot just by going to one class and you can expect that the teachers will be attentive to their students, and correct you properly if need be.I need to give a shout out to the yoga instructors and the personal trainers as well. I work with a trainer here because I have been recovering from a rather difficult to work with injury, and my trainer has not only adjusted every workout to meet my training needs, but theyve worked with my physical therapist. Ive never found trainers who did that before and it has made a world of difference in my recovery. The yoga instructors same story. I let them know what my limitations were and they paid attention to it and even poked and prodded me while I was in certain positions to make sure I was using the right muscles and doing the positions to stay within the boundaries of my injury limitations. I have never found such a tension to detail at any other location and these guys deserve more than my five star praise can give them. You will not be disappointed at this location as long as you come looking for a decent workout and well-trained staff. I think the only potential downside is that theres not more parking hahaha!
Good place for fitness and fun. My kid enjoys pool and play area here. I love racquet ball courts and wednesday valley ball match. They have different programs if u have time. And also they are good food bar at best prices. They have track for walkers.Cons: they dont have indoor tennis courts.
Awful
The best thing about Prairie Life Fitness besides theyre nice pool and changing rooms is they have one of the best physical therapists there they are Physiotherapy. And they include Aqua therapy which is low impact exercises retraining your body
I find it funny that you can completely setup a membership over the phone, no problem. But if you want to cancel, of course that has to be done in person. Also, dont think of getting a shake or food on a Friday or Saturday night. The place practically turns in to a bar and they are not equipped to make shakes right now
I love all of the classes, the facilities are clean and well kept, and there is always something to do. Literally my only complaint is that it is kept a little hot in the gym and that the locker rooms need updated.
Been going for 20 years, it has been great. Just started yin yoga, shelly the instructor is fabulous.
Staff and facilities are great. The equipment and facilities are top notch.
Love this gym! Flexible hours, clean, lots of equipment and friendly staff. Great childcare as well.
Great equipment, makes losing weight fun because of all of the different activities you can join.
There are people at this gym that go all the way up to management who bully, yell at their members, and don’t know how to give a genuine apology. Would not recommend.
Love this club, could use some decor updates, but the club is loaded with equipment, classes, pool, sauna, hot tub, showers, blow driers, lots of stations to get ready in the am. Very nice staff!
Whenever I talk to the front desk workers or any workers around the building, I always think everyone is so nice. However, I def. would make that the deciding factor. The place is way too expensive for what you are able to do. Most the time I can’t even do what I want because there’s either no room or because they don’t have enough space for people to do ab workouts or do any workouts with small equipment on their own. They have an extra room but it’s hardly ever available because there are classes. Which brings me to classes. I’ve only taken one class here that kicked my butt and it was a weight training class. I’ve taken all different kinds of classes here and they were not worth it. I also want to give advice regarding your account. Do not try and change anything about your account. They will send you to this guy named Glen and he will do nothing for you. They charged my account even though I asked to pay them directly. The guy Glen literally told me “we’ll just come in and pay it and we will see what happens” LOL that’s how he talks!! He does not sound professional at all and he does not care about customers at all. So then I asked him to just put the check he had got for me from the extra charge back in my account for the next month and he said he can’t do that either! LOL he said accounting said they can’t do that anymore. I mean the guy is just full of excuses and he sounds extremely lazy. I think that they do a good job at appearing like they care about customers and the gym is well maintained -nothing spectacular and a few things could be updated. However, once your in there and actually going for a while you will start to realize this place is not worth the money. I can’t wait to get out of my membership but they have you sign a 2 year contract. Luckily mine is up in March so I’m close! I just really wouldn’t recommend this gym. There are other ones out there that are better. Oh I should add I’ve gone to almost every gym here in Omaha and only because I like to try different ones. I will be switching once my contract is up.
Good facility with lots of staff that greet you when you walk in the door. Very clean and tidy but can be busy at peak times
So we were happy with the upgrade and remodel at first. Tried another gym amd needless to say we are back. Cant beat the price for what you get here and how nice and clean it is.
Good place to get swole
Excellent facility, with knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful staff. Open both early and late, which makes it very convenient. Great place!
Best gym in town. Amazing staff.
Great place to go to workout and play basketball, where its not over crowded
Nice staff, clean facility. Great for families that need daycare to work out
Large crowds and several of the managers not very friendly. Ill never rejoin.
