My son has been there once before and wanted to go again on his Birthday with his friend. They had a blast! The staff was so nice, friendly and professional. The yoga instructor gave the boys some tips and they put them to use right away. So kind of the instructor. The place looks kept up and clean. My son would really like to go more often. He doesnt get overly excited about things so him liking this as he did warmed my heart, therefore, I will be looking into a membership for him.

Love this place. It’s easy to find. It’s located just south of the Kilpatrick Turnpike on memorial between MacArthur and Rockwell. It’s just behind Hideaway pizza. Very clean. They have all equipment needed to purchase or rent. Training sessions that support technique in bouldering or learning to top/lead rope. In short good for all skill sets. They also have auto belays for some of the routes if you’re unable to visit with a friend. I typically go for the occasional climb but I know they have climbing leagues. Definitely recommend.

Not being from the area, this was a brand new experience for us. My 26 year old son and 10 year old daughter were the ones to climb the rock walls. We were given a complete tour and were very well educated on safety. They got quite a workout! If we lived in the area, Im sure we would get a monthly membership. There is a gym in the back for members. They have a team that meets a few times during the week. This is a great place! Highly recommend if you are at all athletic or competitive, or just want something fun to do.

Super friendly and helpful staff, pretty phenomenal route setting, full speed wall, bouldering, sport, training section, yoga room, a chill out area, gear store, everything you need. Extremely overpriced for one day pass visitors. And Im kind of nervous about safety features because anything safety-wise that can cause death needs to have a secondary fail safe. But you have one rope, one clip and one stitched loop that decides if you die or not. If anything in that chain of features fails, youre falling. I guess you could say the pad on the ground is their secondary failsafe but youll still break your back on it if you fall from a height. Its a nice place with great personnel but cant give it 5 stars when you can go to a multi million dollar theme park for 12 hours with hundreds of activities for the same price for you pay just to climb an hour or 2 till your kids get tired.

I just love this place so much. I was expecting an intimidating, uptight atmosphere at a climbing gym, but this place is nothing but friendly people, openly offering encouragement, tips and inspiration. The community theyve put together here is really refreshing – plus a ton of walls to climb thatre continuously updated and rerouted. Plus cool events. Plus stuff for kids. Plus auto-belay and more bouldering walls than you can handle – so you can climb without a belayer. Youre going to love it. Come climb with the friendliest group around! Ive had my first and absolutely not my last experience here just the other day. I took advantage of the Veterans day promotion that was takes place here, and even though I was a day late (Got the promo dates mixes up, was not my fault! =P) They still hooked me up with a discount after insisting not too. The staff then walked me though a tour of the facility and made me feel so comfortable, I forgot that this was my first visit and that i was not just talking with an old friend! Then, the climbing started. Now, I used to be in peak shape in high school, and in the Army - Then, I became a dad.... So being out of shape, I was a bit intimidated. After hitting my first wall, I completely forgot about all that and just realized how much fun I was having. 15 walls and 2 hours later, It was time to go home (After getting some much earned S&B first) the next day, I saw damn near bed ridden. That was by far the most intense work out id even had without even knowing it. I will get getting my membership soon! SO MUCH FUN! and WELL worth the price which is NOT that bad!!!

Update 7/21/2020: Threshold did the courtesy of calling me and discussed my prior review with me. We talked through that they are making people clip through their tie-in points due to the auto belay manufacturer saying they should and ultimately as an attempt to reduce auto-belay accidents. While I still disagree with this, as it will cause undue wear and tear on your harness tie-in points and eventually become a safety issue for you, if you’re not diligent about inspecting your gear. I understand Threshold has a right to run their gym how they see fit and we can agree to disagree on this point.I also get they are trying to make people slow down but I’m not sure making clipping-in more complicated for people is going to decrease accidents; (if someone can’t handle the simple process of clipping one carabiner into one loop why would they do better with two tie-in loops that are harder to get at and see if the carabiner is closed and facing you?) but I hope I am wrong about that.I only posted previously because I felt it was a safety issue.———————————————————Prior 1-star review: I’ve been climbing at Threshold since they opened in 2017 and have been climbing since I took a climbing class in college in 2015.Until today, everything was great.Today while I was on the auto belay an employee came up and told me that unless I clipped the carabiner into the two tie-ins on my harness rather than my belay loop I would have to leave. This is incorrect and unsafe!(A simple google search will back me up.)Clipping an auto belay carabiner into the two tie-in loops on the harness tri-loads the carabiner making it weaker and the belay loop on your harness is designed for metal carabiners where as the tie ins are designed for rope. After failing to convince the first employee he was wrong, I tried speaking with another employee who backed up the first one by saying that is how the manufacturer of the auto belays said it should be done, and said that was the way they have always done it.1. I find it hard to believe that any manual would say that as all auto belays are the same. And if it somehow does, then it too is wrong.2. I did an auto belay test when I first joined back in 2017 and I KNOW I clipped in to my belay loop as is standard. Neither of those two employees worked there at the time.I will not be climbing at Threshold again unless they fix this as the average person doesn’t know any better and apparently their employees don’t either.

Most staff is super helpful, fun, and friendly(Ash, Dan, & Claudia come directly to mind) others, whom I wont name, come off as annoyed or sassy every time I see them. The gym is super diverse with any type of climb you can imagine. The auto-belays are super convenient for climbing alone, however they are limited and normally have a line, especially in weekends, when most children(and their parents) dont respect the line and skip it all together. I would recommend finding a top roping partner and doing that rather than auto-belays, wait is slim to none and there are many more routes available. From time to time the gym is WAY too hot. When bringing this up with some of the staff they shrugged it off saying they didnt know what to do, while others assured me they would lower the thermostat, which imedietly made climbing significantly more enjoyable. The membership price comes off as a little pricy, but it only takes 4 climbs per month to begin saving money, which for me, climbing 2-4 times a week, I save an average of $132/month. The monthly guest pass is also a great addition.I cant say much for the other parts of the gym such as the ninja warrior area, the bouldering, the yoga room, and the gym, however everything always appears as nice and clean. The workout achieved by climbing is much more than I originally thought. When I began I has almost no muscle and weighed 160. Three months later I weighed 175, all gain in muscle .At the end of it all, even when its busy, its a great time, whether its multiple times a week or just once or twice. I love bringing friends and family, and just hanging out for hours on end.

Fun, safe, clean, and well staffed!I am not a climber by anyone’s definition, I am the rock wall equivalent to a bull in a china cabinet. Yet somehow every time I walk in I get treated like a rockstar and receive amazing customer service. When I struggle with what should be an easy climb the staff is always encouraging and regularly offer quick suggestions to get me up the wall if they have a spare second.I had no interest in climbing beyond my one day adventure with some friends just for giggles, and I was even frustrated by my own inability to climb well and it was the staff that changed that and got me hooked on climbing.I wanted to recognize some of them by name, but it wouldn’t be fair simply because there isn’t one person on the team that hasn’t been great.
