Went to a blood drive at my child’s school. Their staff is not qualified to be sticking people I was extremely disappointed, I have donated every year at their drives for the past six years and before that many other locations. I have a rare blood type. However today I got turned down because they just didn’t feel like putting that extra min to help with my vein. I’ve never experienced them turning me away before nor have I ever had issues with my veins. I drink plenty of water. But apparently they were in a rush to leave since my appointment was one of the last ones. Not sure if I’d be willing to take my time again and not be able to donate. At least I brought 2 other people with me that were able to donate but they should take their time with people and if you can’t stick someone then your in the wrong field.

I have given blood here several times and I have given in various locations through OBI blood drives. In fact, I just finished donating out in Yukon, OK. I have always had great experiences with OBI. I happily donate whenever I can. O+ rules!

I fear needles and usually faint from getting blood drawn at doctor’s offices. After passing out countless times in the past, I’m now able to tell the phlebotomist when I feel it coming on so they can make sure I don’t fall out of the chair. I went to OBI to face my fear and donate at least once in my life. I informed an intake lady my situation so she goes and tells the phlebotomist (they don’t know they’re standing in front of my fiancé who hears everything). The phlebotomist expressed how I was going to be an inconvenience to her and I could see her flailing her arms from afar and pouting about it. After starting the blood draw, when people approached her or asked for help, she would loudly tell everyone that she has to keep an eye on me in case I faint. I am confident that everyone in the room heard her each time because all eyes were on me, patients and employees. There was no respect of my privacy and fear. I’m even more terrified of donating now. There’s more to this story but I just wanted to share that how humiliated and uncomfortable I was the entire time I was there. I only continued to donate because I was committed to help someone in need of my blood. I will never be back to OBI but I can only hope they learn to be more professional and respectful.

I have given up giving blood because the last time they acted like they did not want me there. They ignored me after they started getting the blood. The gal kept going and whispering in another gals ear. They kept telling me a couple more minutes which they told me about 4 times. When they finally came over they found that it had clotted. She informed me that they would not give to a patient but she didn’t know what they would do with it. They took it out and gave no instructions like they were giving everyone else. A gal called and told me that I could donate again, I told her what happened and she told me someone would call me which they never did so that made my decision for me to not donate again.

Ive tried to give blood here before. I passed through all of the pre-qualifying tests with no issue. When I got up to donate blood, the person drawing blood took one look at my arm, saw 2 year old scars, and sent me on my way under the excuse of not wanting to damage scar tissue.Nevermind that it was 2 years old and 4 inches away from where theyd be sticking the needle. They discriminated against me during a blood shortage. Im a young, perfectly healthy adult. My blood could save a life, but instead yall want to discriminate against mental illness. Great job.

Compassionate staff. Efficient computer system for scheduling, check-in, donation process, and extra specials like promotional t-shirts, partner tickets (ex. to the zoo, Frontier City, Safari Joes water park), answering questions beforehand, etc. Skilled phlebotomists (I barely feel the needle), and they help each other if they one is having trouble getting the donation started. The whole system is easy for me to navigate and leaves me feeling appreciated.

Gave blood and made the mistake of giving them my real phone number. I moved back to the east coast a year ago AND TOLD THEM SO and they still havent removed me from their calling list. They constantly call me and leave messages. Extraordinarily annoying. Might have a case for harassment?

Came in to donate blood after they called me. They took one blood pressure and told me my bp was 87/34 !!!!Lolol. I said well obviously thats wrong, should I call the ambulance on myself? They said you only get one reading and it couldnt possibly be wrong, so you cant donate.Wouldnt even double check.I talked the emergency room btw, they confirmed that I wouldnt be able to walk with a bp that low... This place is terrible 😕

I was begged to detonate platlets. I have a scar in my left arm at there draw sight that keeps me from donating in that arm meaning I can only donate in my right arm. Staff refused claiming two arms were required and said blood only or go home. The first time it happened I donated blood and watched the man play around and flirt way to much with the women and it was disgusting to watch. The second time I just left will never go back and yes it was the same person refusing to work on me. They complain about the lack of donation but a large portion is because of their staff sending perfectly good people home over and over

I was there for over 2 hours today from the time my appointment was scheduled. My convalescent plasma donation lasted a total of 32 minutes. I think they may be understaffed. The staff was very friendly though. In light of how long the donation took today and the fact that there are many other places to donate that pay cash, I will not be donating plasma again with OBI.

The Oklahoma Blood Institute, is one of the finest facilities and organizations of its kind. If you want to donate blood, this is the place to come. They have facilities all around the state of Oklahoma, and if you are ever in a position where you need a transfusion, you will be thankful that they are here.

I love the people here! They are always working so hard to make everyones experience a great one! On busy days, sure the wait is longer than normal but thats to be expected especially when the need is so great! I can tell they love their donors and their jobs just by the uplifting atmosphere in the room! OBI is trully a great blood bank!

Made an appointment over the phone, once there nobody could find it listed. I was called back for an earlier appointment the day before, still they couldnt find it.While waiting they took several people ahead of us because they couldnt find the appointment listed. Very incompetent facilities overall. My husband has to make appointments for theraputith draws, and is on a tight schedule, not everyone can wait several hours. We ended up leaving without getting help because nobody knew what was going on in the back either.Huge waste of time each time weve gone to these facilities. Very unprofessional.

OBI calls me at all hours to harass me about donating blood even as late as 9pm. I have asked them nicely to quit calling me and that I will donate when I am ready only to be hounded with questions about why I am not donating and why I dont think of those in need. When I was pregnant, I requested they stop calling because I wasnt going to be donating until after the birth of my child, but they continued to call week after week. If you want people to donate for you, you should treat them with respect and honor their requests for the calls to end.

Do NOT donate to this organization! They will put you on a telemarketing list, and call you every few days. I have asked them a half dozen times to take me off of their call list, to no effect. Do not donate to these people, unless you are very lonely and like to have strangers call you, mispronounce your name, and read a script to you.
