I’ve rented from here twice. One time it went smoothly and one time I was treated like scum when I walked through the door.They are very particular about where customers park. They have several spots reserved up front for their tow trucks.I get the impression that they don’t really love the UHaul part of the business. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The owner was rude and seemed to have a “I don’t want your business attitude”. I would have felt much more comfortable giving another uhaul distributor my business. It was seriously some of the worst customer service I’ve experienced, anywhere in literally any field. I know rude by Wisconsin standards may not seem like much but gahlee was he rude. The kind of place to send a puppy home with its tail between its legs. I won’t be giving Oconomowoc Auto Sales my business ever again.

We went to our local store. A 10 foot truck was recommended. Also, picking it up in Madison, the start of the move, was recommended. And, they were very good recommendations. Both Oconomowoc and Madison had supplies youll need - boxes, tape, bubble wrap, pads, straps, mattress bags, etc. The store in Madison was huge as was the number of vehicles.All the paperwork was filled out in Oconomowoc that took just a few minutes. The truck was waiting for us in Madison.

Called ahead to confirm my rental and Dean had it ready when I arrived. Gave me some instructions and towing tips, and explained the rules. Was in and on my way in 15 minutes. Great place.

Extremely, extremely rude owner. Called to confirm my reservation and was told how busy they are and to “just relax and let people do their job.” Said he had no idea what trucks would be available the next day and that I shouldn’t have even bothered calling. Owner kept interrupting me and was very condescending.

Circumstances resulted in me needing to extend my rental, which corporate did and confirmed. Before I could even get my items loaded, the operator called me and demanded that I return the truck immediately because corporate made a mistake and shouldnt have extended my rental. When I returned the truck I was charged for the full time of the extended rental. I am very upset, especially with this operator who was quite rude when demanding the immediate return.

First time uhaul experience. Rented uhaul in Appleton WI. This was a newer tuck. Not a lot of information was given to me upon rental. Didn’t purchase the insurance. HUGE mistake!! Nobody gave me any driving tips or came out to go over truck or advised me to check for damages or take pictures. I simply drove away. I drove to big wide open driveway in Appleton, loaded and drove to Oconomowoc the next morning using all main roads. Unloaded truck to a storage unit in Oconomowoc then to garage, then returned truck to W Wisconsin Avenue Oconomowoc location. The guy there looked over truck (no problem right). I didn’t ever come into contact with anything while in truck or driving the truck. WRONG!!’ The Oconomowoc guy started showing me scratches in picture decal and the side lights on top were messed with. I told him it absolutely wasn’t me as I never came into contact with anything. He said because there are no “X’s” next to scratches he was going to charge me for the damage. I was so frustrated to be blamed and charged for damage I didn’t do. I was charged an extra $340 for the damages he said I caused. Even though I explained no one ever went over damages or suggested I look and photograph images of truck.I’ve rented uhaul 2X since (too many moves) and now take insurance as well as photograph every angle. The Oconomowoc guy said any existing damage will be marked with an “X”. This is simply not true. Not every scratch or damaged area has been marked in my recent rentals. The Oconomowoc guy lied to me and charged me for damage already done before I rented. Although I have continued to rent UHauls, I would NOT rent from Oconomowoc location if you can at all avoid it. Beware, he will charge you for every scratch not marked with an X. I would absolutely purchase insurance.

A great experience! I needed a truck to move a 1 ton 4x4 pallet. Id planned to use a regular box truck but Dean recommended a large Ram van. The van was perfect and at a lower price. The whole process was effortless. Check out/in was a breeze. There is a lot of inventory (at least today) so you should be able to get whatever you need. Of course, reserve ahead of time during peak periods. Highly recommended.

Quick and painless rental of a trailer for a day

Most of us have rented from various U-hauls several times. I know that I have rented from locations in three states and 3 locations in Wisconsin over the years. I am 62 years old. It is usually a dreaded experience where you have to deal with incompetence and a bad attitude. Before renting from the Oconomowoc location I looked at reviews from three or for near-by locations and decided on Oconomowoc. I made the right choice. It was the fastest check-in ever. Less than 5 minutes. The owner was extremely competent and had a great attitude. How refreshing!Pat R.

Expensive to have a trailer hitch installed. Make sure to price check U-Haul West Allis first. And make sure Dean quotes you the out the door price and clarify exactly what is included. Apparently there is not any kind of price uniformity for UHaul installations.I had a trailer hitch installed. Service was fine.The price that I was quoted was apparently not the out the door price. When I picked up my vehicle, the bill was ~ $35 higher than what I was quoted. The bill was padded with several misc. charges. Deans price worked out to about $115 more than what I would have paid at West Allis U-Haul. My bad for not double checking. West Allis U-Haul also includes the ball mount, ball, pin, and warranty. Dean does not, this is yet another extra charge for something that should be included. The price Dean initially quoted me was $40 higher than West Allis U-Haul. But Dean then padded his bill with extra charges and also didnt include necessary parts that West Allis U-Haul does. Again, my bad for not double checking.

Ive rented three trucks from Deano in the last 4 years and it was so easy it almost makes me want to move again (almost...). The last time, I was in a big time bind since a different Uhaul location cancelled on me a half hour before I needed the truck. Deano set me up with the exact same truck at a moments notice and saved the day. Dont hesitate to book through this location. Great service and dedication.

AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Absolutely ZERO help from these people when I needed assistance! UHaul made an error with my equipment and the gentleman I spoke with on the phone at this location basically told me it wasnt his fault and WOULD NOT GIVE ME THE EQUIPMENT I NEEDED. Ive never had such a POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE interaction before. WILL NOT USE THIS LOCATION IN THE FUTURE!

Called Wednesday to schedule a car trailer rental, he called me back on Thursday and said I have one coming you can pick it up on Sunday. Online it says his Sunday hours are 7-noon. I show up at 11 and no one is there... Called the anytime number on the door and he says his Sunday hours are 7:30-8:30 am. So I call the corporate u-haul and told them the situation and they said your scheduled to pick up tomorrow in Brookfield. I was like ok, and who was planning on telling me that... Poor service and planning, hopefully my trailer is at the Brookfield location tomorrow morning
