I used to really love this YMCA but it has went extremely down hill! They offer many programs for kids and youth. My sons have played flag football for years here and havent had any issues and really enjoyed it until this year! They started sectioning off the parking lot by the fields that are a good walk from the fields already, let alone an even farther one. I asked about it and was told it is done because they do not want people trying to use the side door and apparently some program that runs from 8 to 6 does stuff in there sometimes. I have never seen a single thing done or people using that parking lot EVER! Let alone during these practices that are at 5 p.m. They were not interested in helping people in these community programs even those who require the handicap parking and close parking due to disability. They continued to block if off and not allow any parents to park anywhere near the practice. I also had my son at this practice who had to use the restroom really badly (number 2), we tried the couple porta potties that are a long walk away from where we are only to find them absolutely disgusting! They only come in to do anything once a month even during COVID! One of them had green mildew ridden toilet paper!! So i hurried him into the YMCA and said my son just needs to use the bathroom really quickly. She proceeded to stop me and my son who has been holding it forever now due to their disgusting porta potties, and said if your not a member i cannot let him use the bathroom quick. I said we signed up for your football program which we are currently doing right now, we are members. That is not a member, your only a community member and we cant allow your young child to use the bathroom quickly which she then tried to justify with COVID. Apparently COVID is okay if I would have handed her over 100 dollars for a membership right then! It was disgusting what they did and their attempt to use COVID when I confronted her on her bias of not allowing a young child access to bathroom facilities while they are participating in THEIR PROGRAM was ridiculous! How anyone could do this is beyond me! Clearly the YMCA does not offer anything to their paying community members including access to usable and sanitary bathroom facilities!! I was absolutely disgusted by this behavior and will never use this facility or their programs again! I will continue to inform the schools and parents the type of treatment they will receive when choosing to do their paid community programs. Treating people as second class citizens who dont even have the right to use a bathroom when they have paid for your companies program is a whole new low! This YMCA needs some serious changes made and a few lessons on discrimination and bias because their behavior and attitude was abhorrent. Paying Community Members do not fall under the YMCAs goals of protecting against COVID because they only allow disgusting porta johns that only see a cleaning once a month if that. Please keep this is mind if you ever want to participate in their programs. You are treated like trash that rolled in off the street and children are not given access to basic bathroom facilities!! Disgusting behavior from a place that charges hundreds of dollars per person to do anything here!!
The staff is amazing. Friendly and helpful!
The people running this place need to get a grip. They change their hours all the time without providing any updates on the website, supposedly still because of the Coronavirus. They close the entire facility down for deep cleaning for half an hour right in the middle of the day... even though the virus cannot be spread by touching surfaces. They block off every other machine for social distancing, even though just about everyone going there is not wearing a mask and is clearly not concerned about the virus. If you are worried about getting covid, stay home! The Y does not have to be responsible for catering to the vast minority at the expense of people who are actually trying to work out!
Great place to workout and really working hard to keep it safe in these pandemic times
Good place for the community, a little more expensive than the average gym but you obviously get a lot more bang for your buck here. Love how the gym is an actual decent size, although the weight lifting area could be made much bigger. Once 8-10 people are in there at a time it becomes difficult to get on weights/benches etc
I think this is a very nice facility. The equipment in the fitness center is plentiful and always in good shape. The weight area is also well stocked although that area is also very busy. Theres lots of room to do your own thing if you choose to.Many classes are good and at a lot of different times and at different levels for all participants. I also like that it is family-friendly. Ive been a member of fitness clubs before that cater mainly to adults and there is very little for preteens and teens to do. At this Y, it is common to see older kids/athletes running with their parents on the track or working out in the fitness center and they are always respectful. My kids are too old for the kids pool, although my daughter is on the swim team. They do take up a majority of lanes in the evenings, but there is always one or two free. I think its a good value for a family - maybe there are other places that can work fine for an individual.
Beautiful pool. Great customer service from the front deskt staff. Handicap accessible and a large parking lot.
I love the YMCA everything from the fitness center to the pools. The staff are polite and well mannered and the life guards are very nice too. I love coming here in the winter to use the pools hands down 5 stars
Decent place to go and work out. I will say Im not sure how the exercise equipment was chosen. There seem to be way more exercise bikes and treadmills available with no waiting, but often times the stair steppers are full (there are only 2) and you need to wait to use one...sometimes for quite awhile. Also the front desk needs to be faster. I have often had to wait a long time while everything came to a halt so that the person checking people in answered some question. Please refer people with questions to the main desk to the rest of us can check in and enjoy the facility.
Fun but when I am alone not so fun. But otherwise my whole family including me love it so much. My grandma even works there in kids corner!!!
Great facility and programs for all ages. Financial assistance available to qualified individuals and families.
Aquatics director has a weight as well as a debt problem. Should be more respectful toward her clients as well as employees. The fact that a CEO would hire this woman shows a lack of experience in hiring.
Best place to work out in the area for adults and kids. Staff is great, and facility has all the equipment you need. Wish they had more squat racks.
Great! Nice family place, staff is very helpful. In the parking lot, people drive too fast so be careful. Overall awesome!
Love coming here. Clean facility and helpful friendly people. Kids can screw around in pool while you work out.
I want to note that the aquatics manager is addressing the issue with the board to see if it is mandatory to keep this rule in place. I received a reply from them very quickly and feel confident that all is being done to maintain safety & keep up the level of customer service we know & expect. My grandson had his final swimming lesson on Tuesday, 10/20/15. The manager of the swimming pool area closed the pools due to a visual sighting of lightning in the sky. The classes were canceled because we were told that the pool had to remain empty for 30 minutes following the last lightning strike. We had never heard of this rule and are familiar with many rules & regulations because we work in the construction industry. We looked up the information on the internet and found an article from Aquatics International stating that it is more dangerous to clear an indoor pool, sending people to showers in the locker room our out into a storm than to let them stay in the pool. The National Electric Code, which has been adopted by every governmental body in the United States, requires all buildings to have the ability to shunt the voltage generated by a lightning strike. The structure must have a complete lightning protection system, and be properly grounded and bonded. “If the electric wiring/grounding in your facility is up to the required code, no indoor area should close during outdoor thunderstorm activity,” says Dr. Vicki Weiss, a regular lap swimmer in Maryland. “In fact, a pool closure policy is in violation of the National Electric Code section 250.4(A)(1) and you will be subject to regulatory enforcement.” Dr. Weiss adds that facility operators must understand they are breaking the law by closing indoor pools.
The facility is excellent but WAY TOO OVER CROWDED! They need to either expand this Y or build another one out in the Hartland area. The men’s sauna room is tiny in comparison to other ymcas. It is difficult to do yoga here as well because the classes are full leaving you no choice but to do it out by the noisy gym. They need to put sound proof glass around the gym so the people upstairs arent constantly hearing balls dribbling and whistles blowing.
The pool should just close. They have made my seven year old cry more than once as one lifeguard tells him he has a wristband and can go in the pool next to where I am with my other two kids and the head life guard tells him he must stay with me. Head life guard was very rude. This is the last straw! They are not getting any money from me anymore.
Staff and lifeguards in the pool area are disappointing. I dont know if its just because of an influx of summer job teenagers or what but they seem to want to make everyone swim in straight and orderly lines, fun seems to be an issue at least where my family and I are concerned.
I use the boys locker room closest to the towel area and it says no one over 18 on the outside and there is constantly naked old men in the locker room. I feel very uncomfortable to say the least. Also they never mop there basketball courts always dusty.
This is the second time weve been here. The staff is not friendly or helpful. Theyre so concerned with the policies that they forget about the person behind the question. Also, the signs that they have posted are not in line with their policies, so be prepared to be yelled at for following the signs instructions. I dont recommend this YMCA.
The lifeguards at this place are unfriendly, rude, and have an attitude of superiority. The majority show through their actions and words that they do not like children. Do not waste your money. There are other places with better pools and less rude people! If these individuals do not like their job, I am sure there is a line waiting to replace them. GO ELSEWHERE!
Nice pool for kids. Great family place.
Very impressed with the design and quality of this YMCA. Lot of activities going on here and it seems well run.
Our family gets our moneys worth! We enjoy being active and love the variety of activities the YMCA has to offer, its great to have the kids corner so that our daughter can play while my husband and I work out then we can all go swimming together as a family!
Nicest YMCA Ive ever seen. We work out here 1-2 weeks per here when back in Wisconsin visiting our families here.
Great place to swim and workout
Interactive map on site is annoying, physical facilities nice, staff is OK,only used pool area
