I moved to Oakland from NY a few months ago which meant I also left my trusted nail tech of almost 10 years behind π’. For some reason, it was hard for me to find a place around here that advertised dip powder nails, and the places that did...didnβt seem like the best option. Then I stumbled across File + Style, and I am so glad I did! I called yesterday and was able to be squeezed in for an appointment the same day. There are many dip powder colors to choose from. Vanny was efficient and did a perfect job. The outcome is exactly what I wanted, my nails look great again! The owner, LoAnn, is super friendly. I am so happy I found my go-to nail salon!
I got my nails done like a few weeks ago and when they werw done they werent like I wanted them to be and the person doing them was just rushing me and my aunt out of the building. I felt like I was doing something wrong. Also my nails were sorta good for my first time just not good quality. I would recommend but make sure that they know what you want.
I had been following File + Style on IG for most of the pandemic before giving them a try in March. Excited and ready to claim my new nail salon, and try dip for the first time? I went to see them 3 times in a span of 2 months, twice to get dip applied and then removed. The dip lasted for a full month both times. Going into the process they were long, healthy and thriving. When I say my nails were cute, they were CUTE!Fast forward it is the beginning of June and my nail beds are still destroyed after getting serviced at File + Style. Over one month since removal, my nails are still brittle, thin and breaking with ever movement. This is because during the process of removal, the nail tech used a machine to grind the dip powder off. This wore my nails to a whole new level of thin so much so that the first few weeks after removal, my nails were in pain, making me reluctant to wash my hair.I have gone back to the salon to speak with the owner. While sharing my experience and showing her my nails, she was backing away from me, and then told me to rub garlic on them to strengthen them. While I appreciate the home remedies, I do not feel like my problem was mediated with true compassion or a solution. In general, Iβd love to see more education for natural nail health care and better customer service. Due to the state of my nails post dip, I probably will not revisit this salon and am wildly fearful of getting dip ever again.

Great service grounded gracefulness
I moved to Oakland on 1/1 and today was my first visit to a nail salon here. Trying to find a place with talented and friendly nail techs, that was also clean and affordable and that didnβt rip you off by charging to buff your nails in NJ/NYC was like trying to find a needle in a haystack! But I found all of that on my first try here. Holly did my nails and was great! The only downsides were that the foot tub had no massage or bubble feature so my feet sat in still water and a woman in a rush came in (why do people do this?) so Holly had to rush towards the end of my service as a second patron with an appointment came in as well.. not the end of the world though! I think I finally found a place where I can be a regular! π
The only File + Style Ive been going to for almost four years! Request for Kate! Shes the best! Her styling is amazing! She takes her time and never rushes her masterpieces!
My gel manicure lasted one week. I paid $70 for a gel manicure and a pedicure and it lasted a week. They were not very friendly either. Iβm going back only to have the gel polish removed because it is cracked and peeling already.Update: I went back and they fixed my manicure! My nails look beautiful and they only charged $20! Thank you!!
Did cool designs on my hands and feet. I was not disappointed at all
Got my nail done here while on vacation, and wanted to try something different. The staff were very kind, and enjoyed taking their time while creating the nail design I asked for piece by piece on each nail . The staff there were very skilled, professional and friendly during my appointment, and I had great experience, and love how my nails came out.
Fast friendly and do great work. Love coming here!
Great proximity to BART.My first visit. Wonderful environment in the shop. They were ready for me at the time of my appoinment. They gave me a fantastic hard gel manicure that lasted 3 weeks.
GREAT services and service. My mom got a manicure & pedicure and they looked great! I got an acrylic fill & a pedicure; and designs on my nails as well; both my nails and toes STILL look great, and its been 3 weeks!
My go to for manipedi - they offer a wide array of services for nails and beauty including vegan products.Staff is always welcoming and detail oriented.
They get done quick and dont need to make appointmentπ down side is...π’ Just cant find the parking space π°
Very welcoming and take care of you. First but not last time coming. Great place
Not the best experience I was a walk in was told to wait. Another woman comes in and they proceeded to help her first. I spoke up and said why is she being seen first when I have been waiting 20 min. They came back and did my nails which are not impressive. I believe they are bias an assume I wasnt going to tip so they decided to help the white lady. I tipped well but never coming back.
Very friendly and skilled. The place looks great, and the hospitality is on point.
They are friendly, polite, professional and my nails have never been healthier. My gel manicures last the longest of any other salon.
I went for a bikini wax. The wax was too hot, the girl didnt talk to me, it took only 2 min and it was not symmetrical. Very disappointed.
Not my best experience, limited gel color options and styles. Cut my nail bed and left air bubbles in my finish. Color did not match sample and I had to ask for a third coat. One of my worst manicures. :(
Great service
