This gym has some pretty negative reviews so Im glad I gave it a chance and went in person! The facility has a lot of equipment, TVs, nice locker room. Both memberships are very affordable! Staff are almost all very nice. I would say you get more than what you pay for. Its true that the parking lot is a bit sketchy but anyone who lives in Oakland knows there are break-in risks if you leave stuff in your car. Overall I think the price is totally worth it.

Went to sign up staff told me to download the app after three times of signing in it did not work. Staff was rude and did not care about helping me. I’ll take my money somewhere else. Very unprofessional

Can’t say enough good things about this gym. They implemented excellent safety protocols and the machines are all in excellent condition. The app also lets you gauge fullness before going. Very convenient.

Pretty good location. Parking seems safe too. Just dont go during peak hours or youll have to wait to get to equipment.

No refund issued on automatic yearly renewal despite extenuating circumstances like being hospitalized for months. Very poor communication by management either by phone or email.

PF has great customer service, the gym is very clean and it has a very friendly atmosphere.

Just starting the gym portion of my weightloss journey.Worked with Romello a trainer. He was great. patient & thoroughly explained everything.

Everything was perfect, clean, and not so crowded. The reason I gave 4 start is the equipment. Need heavier dumbells and Olympic Bar for squat and deadlift. The gym is perfect for beginners tho.

Prior to the pandemic the parking. Lot was a mess with disabled vehicles etc.Its now clean and easy to park.They however need to enforce wearing mask to protect the members

They are charging during the pandemic even though theyre not open the same hours. They keep charging reactiviation fees even though they close the day after. Stay closed i dont care but at least dont charge me.The reply by owner says to reach out to management yet everytime i call they are not in or reception does not wish to transfer me.

Never go here. If you park in the parking lot your car will most likely be broken into. Every single day at least one car gets broken into ( including mine ) whether it is broad daylight or or at midnight. Planet fitness knows this but does not take action because they dont care.[Check photos for proof on my profile].

Expect no free weights. This place is large but this was the scene for 30min. No joke. And its like that every day. This place really needs to get more loose equipment/weights. The one in SF has same amount of free weights for half the square footage. Hate it here

Will still charge you for months closed. I thought I canceled at the front desk around March, maybe they wiggled in oh it will be frozen, but I never got notified it was opening yet recently got charged in October and November. Cant call member services because its closed, you want me to send a tracked letter?? Maybe a telegraph next? Who am I Abraham Lincoln? Not worth the hassle, do a bank routing stop payment and thats that. Please avoid the scheme of inconvenience they lock you in

I was notified that they were closing way back in February. But they never told me they reopened. I only noticed because I saw multiple charges. I called them, but theyre closed again now and no one is answering the phone. There is no way to get a refund or cancel my membership. The website will tell you to call them. That doesnt work.

Less ghetto tha other Planet fitness but lots of community people and lots of stations for disinfecting

This is a great gym (MacArthur location). Clean and well appropriated. Danny sold us on the black card membership. The water beds are the best. However, this is a three star rating that would be a five if...The early morning staff do not have the leadership skills to move people who use the equipment inappropriately. The beds and chairs are often used as a legit sleeping location. In the last two weeks, I have skipped the bed 3 or 4 times because there was a woman sleeping (pillow and blanket style) who refused to move even after being tapped, rocked and verbally asked. The same woman every time. Black card members pay for this perk and expect it to be protected.

Awesome staff, usually super clean. For 20$ I get unlimited access to tanning and massage beds along with all the equipment. They have all the basic smith machines and free weights you could need.Anyone not liking planet fitness should probably go spend the extra 40$ a month to get what they.Planet fitness is awesome

A great place to start working out as a beginner also not bad for an advance. they just have some limitations when it comes to water sports. and limited on some weight but not bad place.

The place was clean and well maintained. Staffs were knowledgeable and friendly. Equipments were organized and was working well.

Living in a van and going across country I have visited many Planet Fitness locations. This was the single worst location I have ever visited. This is place is a DUMP. Every possible avenue that they could have went “cheap” on, they did. The parking lot is small, completely full and cramped, and not well designed. The whole place stinks like a dump. Every machine is being used. The person behind the desk was completely rude and hated her job (get another job, you CHOSE to be there). The bathroom stinks and the hook for your gym bag was missing from the bathroom stall. The bathroom was dirty. The shower had a cheap shower head and no place to put your soap, the water stream was very light and wasn’t relaxing. At least it was nice and hot, some places weren’t hot before. The changing rooms had no tables so you just drop all of your clean stuff on their dirty floor. Disgusting location. A dump I will never return to again.

As an older gentleman, I love this place. The machines seem rather well kept, and I even occasionally use the tanning booth.Their prices are reasonable, and I dont get harassed with non stop sales pitches. I often go in the middle of the night because Im not fond of crowds, and the staff there are great!I cant recommend it more.

I had a good experience here, but the free weights were always tied up so id always have to change up my routine. Its a good gym for the cheap monthly price. The facility was pretty clean and the staff were helpful. Members also did a good job keeping the equipment clean.

Cool spot. Staff is usually down to earth and professional. But on this fine Super Bowl Sunday evening. On my way out,, I stopped at the front desk. This staff member wth the name tag, Sidney, was so busy on his phone that he didn’t see me standing there. When I politely Saadi excuse me to get his attention, he turned to me with the phone still up to his face. He did answer we my 2 questions but that’s horrible customer service and unprofessional, Sidney.

Staff member (Sydney)abuses power with membership cancellation if you dont do what he wants on command, Sad child like behavior, No help from management in resolution of issue. Other than this never had any issues with this establishment.

I like planet fitness in general. But this location has dirty bathrooms and I cannot deal. One of my favorite things about PF is their cleanliness but this one does not follow suit.

Honestly not enough machines /space for how many people frequent it but it is a really low priced gym for sure.

Love this place--management and staff are very courteous, helpful and willing to give the customer the benefit of the doubt. My home PF location has been San Jose for the past year, but I love that I can bounce back and forth between both locations with my Black card membership. Possibly will make this PF location my home location in the future (depending on personal situations/work). Love!

I just called this location inquiring about fitness instructors at this location. The person who answered (Jasmine) made me feel like I was annoying her with my questions. Towards the end of the call I thanked her for her time and she just hung up in my face without a reply or goodbye.Customer service is everything when you are in the people business. I hope management reviews these and provides further training for young people they put in position of customer service at the front desk to make sure customers are treated with kindness.

Planet fitness isnt so bad to be honest. But unfortunately that gym isnt for me because of the limited amounts of workout equipment and weight restrictions. There isnt a flat bench. Theres no place to dead lift. And if you wanna do squats then youre probably gonna do it on a Smith machine. Those are the Omega three that I must have in a gym. But like I said if you just want to be healthy and toned this is your kind of gym. Its clean most of the time and the staff are pretty chill.

Still charging membership fee even though you are closed. Scamming the customers. And you make it nearly impossible to cancel. Robbery.

Read the reviews and was worried to join. Went and checked it out, the place is REALLY nice. The staff was all SUPER nice too. The massage chairs sucked but everything else was great! Don’t understand what all the negative reviews are about. Smh some people’s kids 🙄

Customer service is terrible at this location (MacArthur). I scheduled an appointment with the personal trainer, Tessie. She called an hour before my scheduled appointment to reschedule for the next week. I showed up to the reschedule 10 minutes early. I checked in and sat at the class table. Nobody showed up. I finally went up to the front desk 20 minutes later and they had no idea about my appt, even though I got an email confirmation. She walked over and asked who I checked in with and accused me of not being at the table I was sitting at for literally 20 mins and said she had another class and didnt have time for my scheduled appointment. Super rude unapologetic and absolutely unprofessional. The bathrooms are dirty, the showers are dirty. 2 stars are for the massage chairs and hydro massage.

I enjoy going to PF in Oakland. That is my old neighborhood. The staff is amazing! I always get the help that I need I really really appreciate it.

The place is inviting, however, I wish they have more personal trainers which they only have 1. It makes it difficult to schedule build your workout plan and their booked out for months. Not a good thing for Planet Fitness in Oakland

It gets busy after work hours but there is at least one machine left for you to work out on while the crowd dwindles down into the evening. Casual setting. Moderately clean almost all of the time. Not much to complain about.

This gym is my favorite! Everything is always clean, and the guy who signed me up was kind. However, there is one female worker in the morning on weekdays that is selective about who she greets. And once, when I asked to sign up for a massage bed, she rolled her eyes at me. Other than this worker, everything about this place is great.

The staff at Planet Fitness are friendly. You can tell they are genuine and not judgmental at all.The only thing that bugs me is when people work out on a machine for half an hour, sweat all over it, and move on without whipping that thing down. It is so gross.I wish PF had more workout machines to choose from. The good music always gets me vibing, but sometimes they should switch it up.I really want to get into rowing but of course I cant afford a boat. It would be nice if they put in a nice rowing machine

Well-maintained and clean, but dont be too impatient with your time when you come to work out. There are many casual gym-goers who play with their phones and watch TV while sitting on machines that you may need.

Trying to cancel my membership here when I moved was such an incredibly infuriating experience. So many hoops to jump through. Plus the gym itself is awful. No space to lift free weights or do stretching/yoga. People listening to music without headphones so youre forced to listen to it also. My things were stolen when my personal lock was busted off of my locker. Some idiot hit my car in the parking lot outside. And creepy dudes hit on me constantly while trying to work out. There are lots of reasons this place is so cheap. Too good to be true usually means it is. This place is just awful. Steer clear.

A very clean and welcoming atmosphere to work out in! Every staff member Ive interacted with has been very warm and helpful. It does get very busy at this gym but its because the rates are excellent and equipment is legit.

The gym is great and all, but man there is a bad sweaty smell that takes over the entire gym. There should be some thought into solving this issue, because I cant workout when I am bombarded by a bad odor.

Not the creme de la creme of clubs like the one up the hill as it is pretty utilitarian but makes up for it with a friendly Oaklandish vibe. They also have a lot of extras is you go beyond the $10/month basic package. It is good health for cheap. Parking lot does get crowded but watch out for street parking at night due to street cleaning. After 9 it does get looser and by 10pm theres plenty of parking. Good selection of machines and weights. A separate area for stretching. . Love this place. .

Its very spacious so never too full. The prices are great i pay 20mo for max membership and plenty of cool amenities. its open 24hours a day

I used to work out there Before I cancel my agreement. I saw a bedbugs in the locker room. This is the most horrible place in the planet. And they take from my account over two years money. They know that I don’t show up. They are dishonest horrible management!

Get it in. Your health should be a priority. Stay focused and do not worry about those that are in the way @#$ individuals.

Great friendly staff clean gym not too busy

Staff were helpful, facility was clean. Ill be changing my membership to make this my home gym as its a little closer and I like the atmosphere better.

I recently joined and have only had great experiences. The place is clean and staff is super helpful. Everyone working out minds their own business and I dont feel judged at all.

I love most of the staff but the facilities are an issue. Multiple days without hot water for showers. 2 days without soap in the ladies bathroom, which means people are touching on equipment without having properly washed their hands. The parking lot is trashy and crowded.Update: multiple days with no hot water in the showers. Constantly understaffed. Facility is disgusting, especially the bathrooms. I would not recommend this gym to anyone unless you are on a tight budget.

If you want your car vandalized, then this is a gym for you! There are about 100 homeless people and criminals living on this parking lot, observing, and will vandalize your car the moment they see you gone. They all work together and “nobody saw anything”. The gym has a camera that can not resolve much, but the gym manager seems to be fine with majority of the parking being occupied by non-members. A police raid is necessary here. I would strongly recommend avoiding this gym. Btw, it smells like poop inside the gym, I wonder why, maybe because homeless people use it as a public restroom.

Ist time shopping there; but enjoyed the variety of items and the reasonable prices for quality items; free parking in a small strip mall in Alameda.

Affordable, clean, good machines, not a meat market. Get your workout in without being hassled or annoyed. Staff is constantly cleaning & maintaining equipment, which is a vast improvement from my previous gym. It can get crowded at peak times, which can make it harder to find space to stretch or work out in a corner, but if you can time your workout, youll be fine.

Staff is always friendly. Gym is always clean. Plenty of equipment to use.
