Beautifully design apartment north of Lake Merit. I really enjoy my life living there. The security and neighborhood have really improved since Hanover redeveloped this area. Now, I even feel safe enough to jog to Lake Merit during the day.

I decided not to lease here because I wanted to be closer to the lake but this was a very luxurious community, the staff was extremely welcoming and made me feel comfortable throughout the entire tour. From the greeting, to asking me if I wanted to get the application process started, it was an amazing experience. Would definitely recommend!!

I toured Hanover Northgate this past month and the building is very luxurious. The apartments are very spacious and come standard with top of the line Whirlpool appliances. Definitely a place I would recommend to others to tour!

Amazing property located in a very cool part of downtown Oakland. I love that there is so much to walk to in the neighborhood. Everything from Target to local bars and restaurants are just a stone throw away from the front door.

Living here is absolutely worth the cost of rent in the Bay Area. The units are thoughtfully laid out, including Nest thermostats, washer/dryer, washing machine, hardwood floors, big windows, and infrastructure set up for fiber internet. The non-unit amenities are also exceptional: there are several outdoor areas with big palm trees, fire pits, bbqs, and comfy chairs. The clubhouse has a rentable theater. Theres a package locker so you dont have to be home to receive deliveries. Various amenities can be reserved through an app on your phone thats really easy to use. It feels like living in a fancy hotel.All that aside, though, I have been super impressed with the staff. They are unfailingly polite and accommodating. They have truly gone above and beyond to ensure that I feel at home here, even going to far as to make exceptions to set-in-stone policies when no other alternative was available. I feel like they really do have the residents best interests at heart. I cant recommend living here enough.

Ive been on other tours looking for an affordable apartment that meets my lifestyle expectations. Im glad that I stopped by and met Taylor, she killed it!

The apartment is beautiful, but the common areas like elevators were never cleaned, very hard to get in contact with the leasing office and when something breaks it takes a long time to get fixed! Great luxury apartment but a hassle to get things done and to get up with them especially when your busy.

I have been looking for a new apartment and have spoken with and toured numerous complexes and companies. I was looking for a complex that met all of my needs which included high quality construction, friendly/competent staff, and luxury amenities.From my first interaction with Hanover Northgate I was impressed. The woman I spoke with on the phone was incredibly kind, informative, and eager to assist me find the perfect apartment! I have had multiple negative experiences with other complexes being rude or condescending when inquiring about pricing and tours, however at Hanover Northgate I felt welcomed and respected from the very beginning.Setting up a tour was simple and they worked with me and my schedule - not the other way around which was a breath of fresh air. The tour itself was fantastic. The young woman who gave me the tour was friendly, knowledgeable, and answered all of my questions thoroughly. Plus every staff member was wearing a mask (properly, too!) and was appropriately socially distancing. At the conclusion of my tour I expressed I was still unsure and wanted time to think it over, and I was met with such graciousness and understanding. I felt very respected and like the staff was there to help me make a decision that was going to work best for me and my life - even if that meant not going with Hanover Northgate.I definitely recommend this property to anyone looking!

I recently took a tour here and I fell in love with the whole property. They have a movie theatre that you can rent out. How cool is that?! And its in such a good location, right next to Target and Modern Times. A dangerous combination.We had a nice time being toured by Caroline. She knew the answer to every question and had a good knowledge of the area. Unfortunately, its a little out of my budget even though you can tell the cost is worth it. Hopefully, one day Ill be back.

While I didnt end up moving into Hanover Northgate, Taylor and Caroline were absolutely amazing - patient, kind, and understanding - every step of the way. Great experience! Taylor has been extremely helpful and friendly, starting from confirming my tour appointment to leading the tour to working with me through the application process. She is always quick to answer my many questions and put me at ease every step of the way.

Great staff and top appliances. However ridiculous amount of small charges and hidden fee. $35 of Lightbulb replacement fee, $40 monthly service fee, Boiler Reimbursement fee apart from the regular utility fee, etc. Also we paid a fair high renting and Covid started right after we moved in. Renting for new move-in dropped a lot after that but we didnt get any kind of credits even though all the amenities were closed for over 6 months.

My partner and I love Hanover and the team. We’ve been here for 1 year and just renewed a lease to move to a bigger space! Caroline was just wonderful in helping us and answering all our questions during our transition to make it as seamless and easy as possible.We actually were going to move to South Bay to find a bigger space despite loving the apartment. When we told Caroline we were going to move, she asked us what we were looking for and she found a few places that matched our wishes and it was a no brainer to stay!Would absolutely recommend Caroline, the rest of the Hanover office team, and this building for anyone!

Update After a Year:Honestly, this apartment complex is overpriced and only really good for a year. After they give you a discounted move in rate they jack the price up when it’s time to renew. There is a high turnover rate here and they do nothing to retain the residents they have. It’s almost like you’re doing them a favor by staying. For example, unlike most luxury apartments they do not provide paint touch up after you review your lease but will give you a bucket of paint to do it yourself. Which seems pretty unprofessional in my opinion. The outside of the property is not very well maintained and it seems over run with dogs. Additionally when grabbing our DOORDASH order from the lobby on one occasion my partner had to beg a homeless person not to take our food which we have documented. And there are often homeless people under my window. When I notified the staff about the issue she told me that “we have security at night” that does laps around the property but not during the day time.This did not make me feel safer. I actually watched a homeless person assault a couple from my window while working from home. Also, given that everyone uses the gym often it seems very small for the amount of residents in the building.In sum, the staff is friendly and generally helpful with tiny matters, the building is solid but nothing spectacular and in the middle of a high crimes area. If you need somewhere to live short term. It’s fantastic…Review upon moving in:personally have lived in 4 luxury/urban apartments and I must says that this has been my best experience so far. I found an amazing unit that included everything I wanted and needed including a small study with built in book shelves! The area around the building a sprayed and maintained by the staff and the amenities and clean and stylish. Also, the complex is very quite and peaceful. However, the most amazing part about this move was my experience with Jennifer. She matched me with the floor plan that I needed and helped me through the entire process! Specifically she called to confirm that we received our paperwork and answered any questions on the spot. Then, on moving day Uhaul canceled our truck and she was able to help my partner and I come up with an amazing backup plan so we would not have to pushback our moving date. I’m so happy to make Hanover Northgate my new home!

I have lived here for a little less than a month and things are going great. The complex is beautiful and the amenities are great. Walking distance to the lake and so many restaurants and stores! Not to mention CAROLINE SCHILLINGER. What can I say. She has been nothing but helpful through our entire move in process and has always been there for myself and my roommate whenever we need anything. Everyone in the leasing office is great, I always love walking by and saying hello to everyone!

I almost canceled my in-person tour here because of my not so good experience with other “supposed to be highly rated” apartments in Oakland. I’m glad I gave it a chance to visit the place. I fall in love with Hanover Northgate the first time I saw the amenities, the cleanliness, the kitchen, laundry appliances, huge closet, view from the patio, etc. Caroline gave me an excellent tour of the place. She’s very knowledgeable and she follows up with me to help with my moving thus making it less stressful. I’m glad to call Hanover Northgate my new home.

I am moving to Oakland from Atlanta (talk about moving ACROSS THE COUNTRY!!) but with the pandemic going on I was so stressed about being able to find a nice, safe apartment to live in. I found these apartments and was able to set up a virtual tour with Caroline, and she completely squashed my anxieties! She was very knowledgable and patient with me and very professional over the virtual environment. I am excited to be able to have some security in my housing in these times of uncertainty!

I was one of the first residences with Hanover Northgate and it seems like yesterday that Jennifer & I were touring apartments and floor plans to find the right one for me. Location is great, and the retail site is under construction as well as surrounding buildings so there is noise, but its manageable. Great amenities and great community. The best part is the team - Thomlynne, Stephanie, Jennifer and the team are always doing what they can to make living here at Hanover Northgate a great experience. Additionally their maintenance team handles requests promptly and professionally - Alex Dunn has been a great addition to the team. Highly recommend living here if you are looking for a place to call home in Oakland!

As the local delivery guy, I enjoy my stop here daily as everyone in the office is always very welcoming. They make it a priority to help with any packages that need special attention that can’t be left in the package room. I appreciate the effort so I can hustle to my next stop! They really seem to go the extra mile to make sure their tenants get their stuff on the 1st attempt. Looks like a great place to live. Keep it up!

I recently moved to Hanover Northgate and while moving is always stressful, I expected it to be even more so this time around because of the pandemic. However, the management at Hanover Northgate did their best to make things easier for me. I truly appreciated the effort they took to accommodate all my requests and facilitate my move so as to make things less stressful for me. Even post-move, they followed up with me and ensured that any issues in the unit were addressed quickly. The team is definitely efficient and responsible. I’m lucky to have them!

I’ve been living here for over three months now and so far my experience has been excellent. All of the workers in the building have been very helpful and responsive. There has been some efforts to socialize with others in the building given the limitations of Covid. my apartment is Nice and quite large while the general parking has been easy. All of the nearby restaurants that I have trie have been very good as well. I also appreciate the target for things right across the street and I’ve never felt danger walking in the neighborhood. I think more things will start to open up in the neighborhood soon and I will continue exploring the area as well as this apartment complex.

Came here with my mom and had a great showing experience. Taylor is new to the team and seems to fit right in! The building is off a main street, and close to many restaurants/bars - definitely a trendy neighborhood.

Toured Hanover Northgate last week and was super impressed. Love the amenities and the location is very trendy with Modern Times brewery located in the building. Everything was good but more importantly the staff was the best part. Also there is a target across the street which my girlfriend loved

Upon my first impression the place looked spotless. The young lady who gave us the tour was really warm welcoming & engaging, which made me and my girlfriend feel comfortable. It seems as these luxury accommodations really go above and beyond to provide for their tenants.

My move-in process has been the smoothest I’ve ever done. Caroline was more than fantastic 5 stars! She’s been beyond helpful and answer all my million questions. Extremely happy so far!Update: However...Here’s the update, after scheduling my move in and reserving the loading dock weeks in advance, I was never able to use the loading dock because it was blocked by a big pot that was not able to be moved. Staff could’ve at least called and warmed me. They were so busy with potential clients/tenants that they forgot about their brand new tenant moving in. Not only this but I had to interrupt their conversations with other potential tenant several times for me to get any help at all (with a replacement loading dock and the elevator). I’ve loved the place so far, and the customer service I received UP to the day of my actual moving in, not good. Hope this was a hiccup. (Changed from 5 to a very low 4).

A very beautiful and clean space. All the amenities and furnishings are brand new. Love the location, it is very convenient to a lot of places and all within walking distance, no need to drive.

My partner and I looked for many apartment building in the area. Hanover Northgate was by far the best experience we had. Caroline was the leasing associate that gave us the tour and helped us with the application. She was great. Very nice, polite and informative without pressuring us to make a decision quickly. We visited some other properties in the Area and the leasing office can be very pushy, that was not the case dealing with Caroline. She was very patient, returned all our calls in a timely matter and has been very helpful even after we moved in. We moved in on October 22nd. We couldnt be happier with our decision. The staff is great and always willing to help, tenants are welcoming and polite and the location is great. Highly recommend a visit and if you are looking to lease I recommend asking for Carolines help.

This is a great place to live. There are so many walking distance grocery stores, restaurants, gyms, and more! The quality of the apartments are better than many in the area.

Our experience with Hanover Northgate has been amazing! The complex and units are modern and clean. In addition to the varying floor plans to choose from, some of the standout amenities include full sized in-unit washer/dryer, secure parking and package room, and the fitness center. The location is top-notch since it’s walkable to Bart, restaurants, Whole Foods, Target, and Koreana Market. There’s also easy access to freeways.In regards to the staff — from touring the units, move-in, and throughout the first few weeks of living here — Caroline, Jennifer, and the staff have been accommodating and welcoming throughout the whole process. Caroline has been amazing in answering all of our questions and in touching base to make sure we had everything we needed for our move-in. The facilities team have also been great in quickly responding to any maintenance requests we had and it’s reassuring to see that protections against COVID are implemented. Given our experience so far, we’re happy to call this place home.

My husband and I moved in to a one bedroom unit initially, and then switched to a two bedroom several months later after learning I was pregnant. Caroline and the rest of the office staff have been instrumental in making this building feel like home, supporting us through the transition and always being available to assist with questions, maintenance requests and other small issues. The building itself is kept very clean and the location is unbeatable. It is mildly frustrating that we are still paying for amenities (gym, screening room, etc) that are closed down for covid reasons, but I do think thats a relatively common protocol at the moment. The conference rooms downstairs are great for work from home purposes though! Garage spaces are very tight and the larger reserved spaces are expensive, but weve never had any trouble finding a non-reserved space. Overall, the building is in great shape and so large that you dont feel like youre living on top of anyone, and the units are clean and spacious.

Property manager is awesome, everyone around here has commented on what a great job she has done. Lets just say shes made it feel like a home instead of just a place to live. Plus she really listens to you and cares for all the tenants and treats everyone fairly. A really good apartment manager wish there was more like her. Shes amazing. GREAT PLACE TO LIVE! TOP NOTCH AMENITIES!

I toured this property recently and I am thinking of moving here. With the current events of the world when you come for a tour you must call first, than they come out to assist you. The staff are very friendly and informative. Also, with everything going on, I feel safe because they immediately boarded up the building and all the doors are locked so that no one but residents can enter with their fobs. They have been here helping residents the entire time of the shut in when other buildings let their staff go. They stayed to make sure they provided service to their residents and I commend them.

Visited Hanover Northgate and the apartments were very nice and had quality finishings. Unfortunately, I did not end up moving here however Taylor and the entire staff were very friendly!

Where do I begin. I’ve lived in a handful apartments and this by far is the best one yet. My wife and I moved here not only for the beauty of the building but the customer service of the management is outstanding. They make sure you have all you need and more. They provide and partner with all the services you can possibly think of ! They host amazing events for residents and dogs! I can go on about how amazing Hanover management and hospitality are but you’ll have to come see yourself and I will tell you they will not disappoint. I highly recommend living here. I love this place

Caroline was really great to work with!! I am moving from NC to CA and had to do all of my tours virtually. She answered all of my questions and showed me all of the common spaces/amenities as well as all the units I was interested in.With most of the other virtual tours I got from other properties, they were lazy and only wanted to show my the one apartment that interested me. Some of them didnt even want to give me a live tour to let me see what the view was or how the apartments looked at the moment I was looking. This is bad when you are trying to convince someone to move into your property. But Caroline was so much better than that. She also tried very hard to work with me to get me into the property.I didnt end up moving to Hanover Northgate even though I LOVE the property and I LOVE Caroline. I was soooo close. Maybe I will revisit them next year....

I am really enjoying my experience at Hanover Northgate. Its in a great location and overall I feel safe. Beside the typical bike theft every so often. That is expected in city life and that is the least of my concerns. We are in unprecedented times and so I appreciate that the staff remain professional and pleasant and quickly respond to my many questions. I have seen some other reviews with folks upset at the staff which I find confusing. Some of the complaints seem to be about things I would not expect a property management company to deal with. Actually, they sound like personal problems. The staff are just as stressed as we are yet they are always happy to do what they can with smile and I appreciate them. I would gladly refer my friends and associates.

Love our apartment, the building, the location, all of the maintenance staff, and management. Ive had a very different experience from some of the negative reviews and am quite shocked to hear their feedback. Im wondering if its the location of their unit, as Ive minimally heard any of our neighbors (above, below, and on each side). Any time weve had something to be repaired in our place, the staff has come and fixed it within hours. They are great, work hard, and deeply care about making their tenants happy!

The apartment is beautiful. Quality products from kitchen stove, refrigerator, dishwasher to the washer and dryer. No major complaints living here. It does feel like luxury. Relocating from Atl in March of 2020 wasnt the easiest choice but it was needed. Finding an great place to meet my needs wasnt easy either after several virtual tours and failed follow up i was starting give up hope. But on a Monday finding out my hotel i was staying in was closing i recieved a call From Jennifer Glover - to see if i was still interested in moving to the Hanover Northgate Yes was the answer and she went to work to address my needs and finding a unit that would be suitable . After 2days of calling a working contactless she delivered .at The Hanover i quickly felt at home. Even in crisis they took the steps to make the building safe and after 7 months its always like the first day i moved in Jennifer always there greeting residents and smiling behind her mask

Location - Can’t say enough good things about the location. I elected not to have a car and have not missed it. Walking distance to BART, Whole Foods, great restaurants and coffee shops.Apartments - Complex is very nice. The community is beautiful, and Dominick was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about the building and my specific apartment. While there may be comparable properties throughout Oakland, the incredible staff sets this community apart from any competition. Looking forward to moving in!

Thomlynne is the absolute best! She made relocating across the country a breeze. The Hanover community is friendly, welcoming and overall a wonderful place to be. The amenities are unbeatable and a wonderful place to call home.

Happily signed a lease here and very excited to move in! The building is beautiful, the units are great and have every amenity I was looking for. I dont think you can do much better in terms of location in Oakland. Walking distance to BART, Whole Foods, tons of restaurants, bars, and breweries. Not cheap but you get your moneys worth. Also the building is wired for fiber, so.. Gigabit!The leasing staff have all been extremely helpful and enjoyable to work with, especially Dominick - who happily gave me two separate tours. They even emailed me photos and measurements of a specific unit I wasnt able to see.Ill update this review after Ive lived in the building a few months but so far the experience is great. Take advantage of the new-construction offers while you can.

Worst customer service!!! I recently booked a self guided tour with them, two weeks ago. Before we could finish our tour, the manager/leasing agent (Adriana I believe is her name) left the site. We waited in the lobby, tried calling couple of times and then after calling another number someone informed her to return back. We did not mind the wait at all but a little surprised that we weren’t attended at all.It doesn’t end here- no one followed up with us for days with quotations, as promised, of the units we expressed our interest in. After following up, we were sent only one quote and that too of the wrong unit. We followed up again and had few questions, but the reply never made to my email. Wow!!We really really liked the units, but the initial experience and lack of sincerity made is double think.

My girlfriend and I toured this spot after deciding to move in together, my rent increased in Oakland and we wanted no compromises. This place had it all and if it wasn’t for the extra credit tour from Thomlynne I may not have become a resident. My bro was in town and of course she went out of her way to let us see the space (that became my future long term home) and other options in several smart, eco-tech floor plans — it made the difference. Thanks Thomlynne, Dominic, and the maintenance staff for your hospitality and keeping us safe in these and future times. ✊

Great staff, great living experience, walking distance to Lake Merritt, 19th st BART, Whole Foods, Target, bars, and restaurants. Secured parking and great amenities. I wish I could give 10 stars instead of 5.

I can’t wait to move to this property. The property manager Thomlynne was so helpful and up beat. She answered all my questions and made me feel welcome already. Great service and beautiful property.

I have had a great experience so far with leasing at the Hanover. The process was simple and they made time for us to take a hard hat tour of the building before signing. I will update my review once I move in! Thank you Thomlynne and Jennifer.
