The staff was short and lacked niceness or professionalism. Booked for two basic pedicures which in the pamphlet they give you shows the price, but when the girl charged me she raised the price… I gently asked about the price clearly shown in the menu she first showed me and she cut me off saying it was updated in the menu, when obviously it wasn’t. Don’t mind paying more but have a nicer attitude and literally update your menus…my toes were also left with a lot of cuticles. I was disappointed :(

I love coming to Velvet Nails. They are always on time taking me for my appointment and have a great color selection. Each employee does a great job with my nails every time and I never have an issue coming in to get a nail fixed if it breaks. I have never had a bad experience - even though I moved a ways away from Oak Lawn, VN is still the only salon I trust!

First time going going to this nail salon recommended by a good friend. The place is clean and the atmosphere is very relaxing. Staff was very professional and hard working. I walked in and was attended to very quickly with very minimal wait. I paid $40 for a dip and $25 for regular pedi and I loved it! I paid with card and unfortunately they cannot add tip to the transaction, not sure why. So, take cash for the tip! I will definitely be back!

I was a regular client at Velvet Nails until Covid hit. I was always impressed by Tracy and Tom and their business. Always friendly, always punctual, always clean and always, always satisfied with the dip and pedicures I received.I returned recently after being vaccinated and so, so happy to have pretty nails again. Overall, I love the shop, everyone is typically pleasant and helpful. However, one of the manicurist who regularly services me is no longer there so I had to try a new person. Today I tried Mason and he is flat out rude! I asked him if he could help me find a color to match my toes and he told no! I then said, did you say no and he repeated it, telling me no. Not a smile or a joke or anything! With that being said, to work in the business of servicing others you must be pleasant and helpful! Needless to say, I will never ever go to Mason again!

Ive had pretty good experiences when I have gone in the past. But this time I was pretty disappointed. The tech was not friendly, and seemed to rush through my pedicure.Sat under the drier for 20 mins and the polish still smudged. Waste of money.

I’m extremely impressed with the extra measures they are going through to help keep the customers (and themselves) safe with Covid-19. I have been going to velvet nails for over 2 years and my nails have never been so healthy. Tom and his staff care about the health of your nails and not just about your money. When I left the salon I was going to for years my nails were in such bad shape that I had to wait about 2 1/2 weeks with bare nails before they would do a dip manicure. The salon is clean and a wonderful atmosphere and everyone that works there is delightful.

I traveled from Lombard to oak lawn during rush hour because it was highly recommended! Its my first & last time ever! I had the worst customer service by a young skinny receptionist who said no time for acrylic & I said what do you have time for? She said dip$ 40...then said $5 more to take off acrylics & $5 more for tips! Im there for nails I dont care how much Im paying if your going to do a great job...she told me prices to make me leave! Well I stayed & when I did she rolled her eyes at me! She thought the prices were going to make me run! No honey it was your bad attitude! I will take my money & business somewhere else! & trust me it would have been to your convenience to gain me as your customer! Your loss! Best of luck!

My “no chip” gel manicure chipped after 13 days - and that was with using rubber gloves while washing the dishes. After about 9 or 10 days it started peeling a bit at the cuticle part (hair would get stuck under the polish if I ran my fingers through my hair). The man who did my nails was nice and did a good job, but I really expected it to last longer. It did say “21 days or more” on the bottle... So I’m not super happy.

Walked in to get my nails done and they told me they could take care of me if I set an appointment by going outside to call to make an appointment due to covid. I did just that and they tell me they dont have anything available until the following week whan they could have just told me that when I walked through the door!!!! I wasted my time making a phone call when they could have said what they told me over the phone in 2 seconds. Uggghh!!!

First and Last Time - This review is specifically for technician ZAZA not sure of the spelling of her name and Im not rating the other technicians. From the moment this technician (she) asked me to take a seat she seemed upset. As if she didnt want to be there. I thought to myself we all have bad days but as she continued to work on my nails I noticed she was going extremely fast and didnt take her time with each step of the pedicure and then it carried over to the manicure. I was being careful to change hands as they were drying and at one point she reached and pulled my hands towards and scratched my hand. I told her to take it easy and I said that I didnt want to mess up my nails - sure enough during one of those pulls she accidentally messed up one of my nails. Very drastically she said oh its my fault and I said YES IT IS. She was very angry and started correcting her mistake and then started blowing on my nail with her mouth to dry it. I can feel her very warm breath on my hand and whats worse, I could smell her very bad breath - I pulled my hand and said I would prefer if we use the fan on the table. She seemed even more upset by now. As I was sitting waiting for my nails to dry I asked for her name - she gave me her name and I said Thank you - she rolled her eyes... I then noticed that she rushed out of the salon - I guess she was in a hurry to leave and that was the cause of my bad service.,,,

Usually, the service is pretty decent here. But I must say that today I was highly disappointed with their customer service. I had my nails done as I normally do with the same nail tech each time that I visit. Once I get to the front to pay my tech asked for ID after I handed her my card. NEVER have I once been asked to show ID since I’ve been going here. In the middle of a snow storm, with flip flops on another lady looked at me and said oh it’s our policy. Perhaps it is their policy now, but at least post a notice or inform your customers of the new changes. Nobody offered to take my payment and say next time please show us your ID they both just stood there staring back at me. To me that’s not good customer service. And I was highly offended by their actions today. Treat repeat customers a little better than this.

Terrible place I took my fiance for her nails and they were crooked since the beginning and the nail tech said that it would get better when filling. But that never happened after she was done she then said it was because of her bone structure in her finger like really.🤔🤔🤔🤨If there were no stars thats what they would get!!!!!

I made an appointment 12 hours in advance since the place i originally had an appointment canceled on me the day before. They where wonderful. I had a basic manicure and everyone thought they where acrylic or gells. They where also less expensive than I was expecting. I definitely plan on going to them again.

Any of these bad reviews are ridiculous. This is the best nail salon on the southside of Chicago!! They do amazing work. Everyone is very friendly. They are very busy because they are VERY GOOD!! Like another reviewer on here,about five days...five days! After I got the no chip the top coat of my nail cracked,about a week later the whole tip came off..then two weeks an entire top coat fell off my left pinkie by tapping hard on the surface of a table..I go to another place and this has never ever happened before?! I believe they use cheap product,although a big reason I came here was the selection of colors,etc...my natural nails underneath the early chipped dip polish are weaker and icky as compared to how long and strong they grow at the other place...yes its cheaper at velvet,but I too had a rude rushed woman on the two occasions I came here who did not seem to take pride in her work..sorry velvet nails...also hair gets caught in mine as well too...so weird ..

I went there yesterday for a Dip manicure and a face wax. The guy double-checked my dip color with the color I chose, but my nails look nothing like the color on the nail sample. Theyre scratched up and do not look worth $40. The biggest issue is that I had my upper and lower lip and chin waxed and the wax actually burned my skin. I couldnt see it until I got home, but when I called the next morning, the manager told me to put some aloe on it and that threading might be better and that sometimes wax causes irritation. I even offered to text him the picture and he told me again to put aloe on it. Ive gotten many waxes from many places before for many years, and clearly I know I could put aloe on it- but their wax actually BURNED MY SKIN and the manager made no offer to be accommodating or empathetic. I wonder if the technician was even certified, considering the lack of care given on the phone by the manager and the fact that my face is BURNED. I will, unfortunately, not be returning.

If I could give zero stars I would. Velvet nails has horrible customer service I was a returning customer and my nails chipped in less than 24 hours and they would not repaint them every single nail chipped almost all the nails polish fell off and I got them done at night and all I did was sleep. Also my appointment was to get my eyebrows waxed and the owner told me no they didnt have time. Very disappointed and wont be returning back their prices are higher and the customer service is aweful and dont offer water like other places.

They do a great dip. I wish they had a la carte options to add to your pedicure, like extra massage time. When I first started coming here I would always get the paraffin pedi, but I came to learn that they dont clean your nails well enough & my polish would come off in a day or 2. Now I stick to the basic pedi and my polish stays on close to 2 weeks. They guarantee your dip for 2 weeks & will repair it free of charge if it chips or anything in that timeframe. I also like that they take (and honor!) appointments so youre never sitting there waiting for 30+ minutes. Zoe, their receptionist, is great & will always help you pick a great color/design when you cant make up your mind. As far as techs go, I highly recommend Venus & try to only schedule with her when possible!

I just left here. This was my second time visiting. I was recommended by a friend because they have sterilizated tools out of the pack. Im expecting so I was very concerned about infection and they also used tub liners. The nail tech I had worked very lazily on my feet and the first time I said nothing because I didnt want to complain and the nails LOOKED nice. However, my second time I really needed her to scrub my feet because as I said Im pregnant and I CANT REACH MY FEET. I asked for another nail tech on my nails the manger said she was the best they had. YIKES! I still felt it was a reasonable request and he then informed me that they could just not do my nails. I unfortunately did not have the timto go to another shop after driving 30 minutes from my home to visit this one. Also, my birthday is in 2 days and I wouldnt have time over the next few days to get them done which is why I was getting them done today! Go figure. So now of course she has an attitude doing my nails but they looked nice. However, the massage was like 15 seconds each hand no exaggeration. I think he thought I was trying to cheat him out of money but I paid full price and tipped. Wont be back, wont recommend.

Absolutely horrible customer service. I went for a trial for a wedding with the bride and had very high hopes for this place. Not only did they not do what the bride asked...they then proceeded to yell at her and didn’t fix the problem. Worst part is...this was the owner/manager who yelled. And the nail tech that did her nails had the biggest attitude. She was slamming things around and being rude and rough. Also the pedicure was complete junk. Worst French manicure I have ever seen in my life. I will never come back here. They lost a long time customer and I will make sure to continue to let people know how horrible it was.

I would not recommend this nail shop to anyone. They have the WORST customer service Ive ever experienced at any place of business. They basically refused my service as soon as I walked through the door the guy working in front told me they were booked and I have to come back at another time or call in advance and when I stated I live an hour away and would just wait I was told no I can not wait.
