Great fitness facility. It has almost everything you can ask for. Weights (machines and free), cardio machines, courts, climbing wall, etc. You can also get a locker and use the showers. With you OU ID you can ask for towels, balls, equipment, etc. It is a little bit crowded during the beginning the semester but you just need to find a time that works for you. Almost everyday you can join casual basketball games; people are very welcoming and helpful. I have use this facility the last couple of years and Ill keep using it until graduation for sure.
Could use a bit more calisthenics space but good overall
All the precautions have been taken to spread the people across the available area to avoid crowding. Ample sanitizer available for cleaning up after use.
Nice and clean during the pandemic.
I love how they have the Fall Special Olympics for Oklahoma games are held there ever every year for Volleyball & Basketball in January.
Facility is great
An active atmosphere and plenty of room to workout. It can get pretty busy at times, but the number of machines allows those work I out to move on and continue on other machines, either on another of the same or a different one till thewanted one opens.
Ife and Parth are very attractive.
Gym facilities are nice, but had an encounter with a rude staff member. I accidentally sat in his stationed seat, so he rudely gestured me to move and was eating and on his phone during his shift. I understand it was his seat but he could have asked me to move instead of shooing me away.
Overall its a nice clean facility. The only downside is parking spaces available and if you go around 4 or later it gets really busy
Gym is very clean and lots of room to workout. 2 levels. The hours get shorter during holidays and school/football schedules.
Needs to be expanded. The weight room is too small for so many people. Three squat racks and three benches for a 17,000+ student body??
It gets a bit crowded but overall I was extremely impressed with the equipment, upkeep, and size of the place. I visited with a friend lately and was blown away. If youre a student, take advantage of this great facility.
I am a part time student at the University of Oklahoma this semester. I have lifted weights at the S.J. Sarkeys Fitness Center a few times a week since this semester has started. Over the past month, I have noticed an issue with a couple of the machines in the weight lifting area at the S.J. Sarkeys Fitness Center. I reported the equipment issues that I have noticed this month to the staff, and the staff has been very responsive at either fixing those equipment issues or putting the defective equipment that I mentioned out of order until the equipment issue could be fixed. I think that the staff at the S.J. Sarkeys Fitness Center is friendly.
Even though I have only gone in the afternoon (4-5), it has never been super crowded, even during the semester (at least for the weight room - the cardio room might be a different story). Adequate equipment, and the A/C cardio room is great. Plenty of basketball courts, ping-pong tables, and badminton courts as well. You can rent camping equipment as well. Overall a great gym, especially for the price.
Good place to warm up .Plenty of rooms for different sports including racquetball, squash, separate track for running.Usually its busy most of the time .Gym section is quite small as compaired to the number of students inflow.
Friendly staff, great options for any kind of gym-goer, and a modern facility perfectly suited to student life!
Interesting ... Hard to walk around courts without interrupting a game...very very loud could not even talk to person next to you about game.
This is a great univeristy gym however it is too small for this university. Place gets very crowded so expect to go at non peak times.
The definition of mediocre. It is a gym and meets the bare minimum requirements of being labeled as such.Despite the growing size of OU, the huff has yet to keep up. It needs to be doubled in size and have the hours extended, or more appropriately, just join the rest of the world and be open 24 hours. The only time this place doesnt require a reservation and a 45 minutes wait to use any of the equipment is at 6am, and thats if ROTC isnt training.
Awesome place for everyone to gym, play, swim and many more activities.
The best fitness place in Norman to get gains!
I go here three times a week. Nothing like the Texas Gregory gym though
They have a lot of options to choose from as far as equipment goes. The free weight collection is broad, which I like. They do have one platform for the Olympic lifts deadlifts, etc. Staff have been fine, though some are touchy about heavy weights dropping on the platform. Main complaint is that it can be quite busy, but this is standard for university recreation centers
Great gym with large and varied facilities. Good place for pick up basketball.
IS Beautiful place to have fun same time working out Fitness center
The equipment for the weights and machines are under maintained and very loose. the rest of the place is spread out and has plenty of options and decent equipment.
Biggest and best gym Ive ever been to.
