All the YMCAs have a pool schedule ie for lap swim times but not this YMCA. Thats bad management and their hours of operation are wrong as well. Someone needs to step up.

I canceled my membership because the prices are too high. Why pay $62 a month when I can pay $10 at almost all of the other places in town. It would be better if they would charge what the other gyms in town charge, or if I dont want to use the pool or the basketball gyms, but just the weight room maybe a different fee schedule?

My son takes swim lessons here and we really enjoy the facility, but there is something wonky about their system. Being a YMCA member is apparently different than being a member at the Cleveland County Y?My son is the only member of our family who has a membership, which we bought when we lived closer to the Midtown Y and I was told I would have to cancel that membership and start a new one in Norman...just seems like a lot of hassle for 2 branches under the same non-profit

The only Ymca that dosent accept other Y memberships, note: being told to cancel my OKC membership and pay for the Norman Y membership has nothing to do with covid its all about forcing payments to you $$

I take my mother to the Arthritis land class on Tuesday/Thursday afternoons. I want to brag on the instructor, Maria. Maria is wonderful. She keeps all of her students engaged, she is very knowledgeable about the exercises and their benefits. The best thing about her is her sweetness. I can tell she has a genuine heart for helping her students and for making them feel good while they are in her class. I am very thankful the Y provides my mother a safe and fun work out that really accommodates her needs. All support staff have been friendly as well.

Been coming here a couple of months. Its a little older than other YMCA Ive seen but still has everything you need. I really like it. People have been friendly as well and my son likes going. Only had a small issue with the nursery wasting my babies formula and not placing it correctly back in the bag but that was addressed. They were courteous and understood where I was coming from.My favorite area is the aquatics. They have so many options from different classes and times. Love it!

Only issue I have is that the gym area is way too small. Compared to Steel gym, fitness, the health club, downtown Fitness, Golds Gym, even NNHS and Alcott Middle School gyms are bigger. The free weight area is about the size of a 2 car garage. Now I will say that that you do have a decent size electric area with treadmills and bikes but the machine weight area is all crammed together. All of the numbers on dumbbells are pretty much faded unless youre in the upper sixties. All of the barbells are bent. Theres at least three different weight plates. And they dont have 35s thats how old. Its usually busy so I know they get good business. PLEASE look at some other gyms, get some ideas and make it happen. Ive seen all that open land next to the weight area USE IT if you can at least make it the size of the basketball gym and newer equipment this place would steal the show. A pool and a decent size gym? And Ive seen some X OU athletes go there so I know people care about the place. But live the pool my kid loves it there, great staff but geeez that area is so neglected.

They don’t seem to care much for guests who do not fit in with the “status quo.” I’m guessing we were treated very rudely by the front desk attendants because my MOTHER has pink hair? It’s 2020... come on. I asked about adding an adult to my plan (my above mentioned mother lives with me while she is in the US) and the girl behind the desk immediately responded with an accusatory tone demanding to know if the person I wanted to add ACTUALLY lived with me and stated very rudely that I would need to prove it. When I called her out for speaking in such a manner, the other woman behind the counter joined the conversation in an equally rude and judgmental tone. I don’t mind following the rules, but I very much mind being treated with such blatant disrespect as a paying member of this facility. For an institution that supposedly celebrates inclusiveness, this sadly is not the first time I have been treated as though I don’t belong by the staff at this place. I guess it will be nice to have an extra $62 a month to spend on something else.

Non-profit organization that doesnt offer a day pass. They offered me a summer time special of $155. Or a 3 month signup (minimum) of $50 a month plus $70 sign up fee. Once again, from a non-profit. They arent concerned with fitness or fellowship, like the name states, only with money.

I am in my my 5th year at the Cleveland County Y and I wouldnt think of going anywhere else. I have never met a rude member of the staff and my only problems have been with members that think they own the equipment. A big plus for me is that I have met so many people that I have become friends with that it is a pleasure to go to workout. Plus, I have lost 40 pounds in those 5 years. Whats not to like?

I absolutely love the facility and some of the staff at the Y, but I was so disappointed by one of the managers who hung up on me when I was asking for grace to not be charged for an extra month. I am leaving the country and did not realize I had to give 30 days notice to stop membership. (To add insult to injury, I have not used the Y in over a month because of travel.)I hope that the original values of the Y will be upheld at this facility, and it will not become just another business trying to be successful by competing with other money-making enterprises. It is an amazing resource if it can be managed well.

Our experience at the Adventure center was awful and we will not be back. They don’t seem to follow any DHS guidelines and I’m not sure how appropriate that is. I dropped my kids off with a large male who was seated in a chair by the door. He seemed very unenthusiastic or welcoming. He didn’t get up from his chair. The kids were all playing dodge ball in a large open room. It seemed to be the k my thing to do. My husband went into the men’s locker room to change so I watched to see how the kids were doing while I waited. The man played on his cell phone and didnt engage with the kids or get out of his seat. I then heard him yell at the children in a very unfriendly manner. At this point I was very uneasy and unhappy but my husband said we would give it a try. We worked out for an out and the workout facuare great! We picked up our children and they told us they wish to never come come. The man was rude to them, yelled at my 6 year old (very shy and sweet) son when he need to go the bath bathroom, he called them boy and girl (took no interest in their names), wouldn’t let them play anything but dodge ball. They said he never got up and just played on his cell phone. My daughter said one of the kids was picking on her and she told the man and he ignored her because he was too busy on his cell phone. This was NO adventure and we will be canceling oure membership and not returning!

The pool is one of the better ones among Ys in Oklahoma (I also visited the Ys in Tulsa and Owasso).Just maybe my skin tone or my slit eyes, never managed to get one of the reception ladies to respond a greeting nor crack a smile (actually or any other facial expressions). Growing up in a crowded city with merchants universally consider customers as smelly armpits and contrast to the typical friendly businesses in Oklahoma, I found the icy cold treatment refreshingly at home! Please keep up with the great work! Looking forward to see that deceased lady face again when checking in next time!

I used to go there for the water walking. I enjoyed it because I am disabled and at one time they made me feel comfortable coming there. I do have a membership out of the downtown okc ymca but liked the norman center better until today. See about a month ago I brought my son and his wife as a guest and bad not one problem they showed their i.d. signed the paper and all was good, today my daughter (who is on my membership) and I came and brought her boyfriend and he is a black guy and today we were told that the okc members were no longer allowed to bring guests that they had changed their policy last November /December. Well how can that be seeing how I just brought guests just a month ago? I will be calling the director of this facility and voicing my opinion on this racist act of rejection. Please post a note to let your patrons know if you want black people in your facility. Honostly it was disrespectful and very rude. My membership is paid on time every month and has been for going on four years new but that can easily change and just might. To the female that didnt want to let him in, please be careful for one day it just might be a black person to end up helping you in a bind. The color of a persons skin should not keep them from a swimming pool or a hot tub... you disgust me.

We have had multiple problem s trying to get our billing figured out with the YMCA Norman. No one returns our phone calls and the staff cannot answer our questions. We have had staff members say rude things to our children during childcare and nothing was resolved. I had a ball that was used for a game an d was lost the staff member said they would replace it for me. We left notes and phone message s and never received our ball or any responses after numerous attempts to resolve the issue.

Dont apply for any aquatic jobs the managers are bad and stole my money and are liers . Meagan and stephanie. Stephanie told me if i do the lifeguard certification they would hire me because she said i was a great person and a great swimmer and i even shook her hand bc she told me that im hired i filled my time sheet out turned it in and about a week later they told me two different stories why they didnt hire me Dylan im so sorry maegan just hired 22 life guards which was a lie and then maegan told me sorry but we cant hire you because we have no spots for you which is bs because i know all the lifeguards and they told me that was a lie. So they stole my money lied to me and wasted my time and a little bird told me that she said it was because they have to save money to keep this place open. So dont apply here they will cheat you and it made me mad because she said i was hired. So you higher ups need to do something about it because i needed to get a job to pay for my moms medical bills but nope that didnt happen.
