I wish I could say a big fat ZERO for review. Thus place is the worst place ever to rent a car. It is crowded and suffocating. Renting a car is like a hassle. I Waited for so long for them to tell me there credit and debit card policy that makes no sense. You cant rent a car without a credit card. SMH. With Debit card you have to do credit check, background check... and a bunch of things.. I guess they think π€ you gonna steal the car. This is so ridiculous!!
Ripping Off customers. Returned car on time, waited 30 min for person to come accept the car, never showed up. Went to counter, person took my keys said receipt will come by email . Yes it came with extra hours charge on it ! SPENT HOURS ON A PHONE TO GET REFUND. I already flew away on my plane and they back charged me for hours I was on a plane. Horrible experience. Dirty cars.
We arrived at 6 am. There was two others in front of me. The wait time was an hourβ¦ the person behind me leftβ¦ Iβm usually pretty patient, I expected to be in and outβ¦ but it didnβt work out that wayβ¦ however the rental car was nice thoughπI give a thumbs up for the car only.
If I could leave a 0, I would. After getting to my car at Newark today, I noticed the outside was dirty. Whatever, no big deal, itβs raining anyway. The inside looked fine, but the interior is black leather so it doesnβt show that much dirt, so hard to tell. I almost went back to switch to another vehicle but decided not to because I had a 3 hour drive ahead of me and wanted to get moving. Fast forward 3 hours, we arrive at our destination and I reach into the backseat to grab my bag, and find the rental agreement left behind by the previous owner along with two of his t-shirts that I had not noticed previously due to the darkness of the interior. My vehicle had not been cleaned at all. After paying $500+ for a rental and then adding the stupid Platepass for tolls (which by the way is an extra $20 PER DAY whether or not you use toll roads) I expected a clean car at the MINIMUM. This is gross and so unprofessional.
Our pick up was on a super hot (100 degrees+) and busy day just ahead of the Fourth of July Weekend. Gaylin and the staff at the pick-up desk were efficient and friendly and made the process easy for us. Thank you!
Have waited in line for 30 minutes and only 3 customers served so far. One person at the counter and 20 people in line. Where the heck are the other clerks?
I booked via priceline for what I thought was a good price and later received 70% additional charges above what I agreed to some of which I understand like insurance and a tank of gas and others I still cannot make sense of, so a one week rental wound up costing around $800.There wasnt a long wait for my initial car and the desk clerk was pleasant, but I had to return to her because the car they gave me had rear end damage meaning the trunk did not close flush. The clerk upgraded my car for the inconvenience, but upon return that person took a very long time evaluating the car insinuating I was responsible for the scuffs and scrapes which was untrue and thankfully I took photos of the car ever before moving it.I also brought to her attention this second upgraded car smelled like someone had been living in it which annoyed me throughout the rental. You know, the smell of ones oily scalp and body odor. I put around 500 miles on this car escorting an older woman requiring medical treatment and I expected a clean odor free car but was unaware until I drove it off the lot. The car also had refuse found under the seats likely from the prior renter.I would rent from them again but would take care to inspect the car more carefully. The first car had obvious physical damage but the second was only learned after being in and driving the vehicle for a few minutes.
Customer service the night I picked up my rental was poor, the attendant behaved unconcerned. Everyone else was nice but I believe if you dont like the job that youre in dont work there!
I dont have a review...I have a question. We have a reservation but our plane does not arrive until 11:50pm. Hours of operation show you close at midnight. Will I still be able to pick up my car when I arrive if it is after midnight?
Great customer service, my flight was two hours late.
They were great. I was in and out. The customer service was very nice and she was very helpful
Booked Thrifty through Travelocity for my husband to drive to his brotherβs funeral. They told him they couldnβt take a debit card without a 500 deposit and then wanted a social security number! After all that they wouldnβt give him a car! They come up with all problems. My husband went over to another car rental and using the same card was given a car but unfortunately wasnβt able to get there on time! These travel services should no longer use Thrifty under any circumstances, they are incompetent people with no regard for anyone!
Reserved a sedan with a trunk to accommodate two luggage and carry-on almost ten days in advance only to learn they didnt have a car for me when I arrived. They quickly gave me a Corolla (thank you) but it was dirty and smelled like smoke. I will probably use Thrifty again but will let them know I would like to avoid the same scenario
Not able to deliver vehicle even after booking was confirmed and payments made. Charged $120+tax for upgrade where they failed on their part. I was with family and surprised to see they say they dont have a 7 seater and asking to take a 5 seater. How can a family of 6 with 4 adults and 2 kids can travel in 5 seater. Such a bad situation and company such big make money like this makes in non trustworthy category. I can offer 1 star or can go low and google dont allow me to do that. I wont recommend anyone to take Thrifty no more. I was in call with customer service for 1 hr discussing the situation. But no luck, they wont fix the problem. Stay away. Or if you are okay with surprises, then you can try. :)
WORST customer service on the planet, guaranteed!I booked my rental through Travelocity and prepaid for the rental. I arrived at the airport and proceeded to the rental area. I went to the check-in area to find two customer service agents on their phones paying no attention to the customers. I finally got the attention of one of the agents and said I had a rental. I gave him my ID and company credit card that I used to book the rental. He said that he wouldnt take the credit card since it didnt have my name on it, even though Im an authorized signer. The customer service agent declined after many attempts to take my company credit card without giving a reason other than my name wasnt on the card.I walked away from the desk and called into their customer service, and they explained to me that a credit card with my name on it is used as a second form of ID. I said fine, and went back to the desk. I handed him my card with my name on it hoping that it wouldnt be charged as it is my personal card, not the company I work for. He took a look at it and said since it is a debit card, he needs to do a credit check and place a $500 hold on my personal card along with the price of the rental ($726 total for 3 nights). When I explained to the customer service agent why a second form of identification is necessary and asked why he did not tell me anything, he replied with, Its not my job to know why these things are needed. If youre asking for upwards of $1000, isnt it your job to explain to the customer why youre asking for all their money?!?Even though I prepaid for the rental, what are business customers to do to rent a car if this is standard procedure? Is not prepaying for the car and providing a drivers license not enough? I could have provided a passport or a military ID for another form of verification, but no, they want as much money as possible. This company is not Thrifty by any means. Theyre predators.
Really convenient place to get to from the Newark main terminals as well as a lot of open space for people to spread out and cause this place does get really crowded during the weekends. A lot of attendance helping at the various desks and a lot of cars coming in and out of this place. None of the Payphone stations around the place work anymore. The large bathrooms comes as a savior someone that needs them and cant wait. theres also a little bit of parking out front but its only for 15 minutes as marked till somebody comes around and can tow you. Theres one of those pay to rent cart rentals that is outside so to use to help better manage moving your luggage at $6 a cart.
Required to bring car back with a full tank. Agreement states tank is full when picked up but in actuality the tank was 5/8 full.I love getting ripped off :-(
I wasted my time with this company and definitely will never spend a dime with their trash service. I went through Priceline.com to rent a car for a day. I paid for the insurance online with a debit card, just to be safe because you know, crazy drivers out there. With the implication that I paid with a debit card online and it processed, I assumed Iβd be able to pay with my debit card when I arrive too. I get to the premises to pay and pick up the car and i pull out my debit card. The woman at the desk told me no, they only take credit cards. Okay... thatβs weird and already a red flag for me because 1, everybody doesnβt have a credit card, so it shouldnβt be assumed as such (not to say that I donβt have one). I told her I paid for the insurance online, so I figured I could pay with the debit card there too. She said no. My mother happened to be with me, so she offered to use her credit card. They also declined that second option because her name did not match my ID card. Okay. We make a third attempt and ask if they will take cash. The woman at the desk says no, that nobody takes cash. Which is stupid because you donβt take cash but donβt take debit either?? No problem. So I proceeded to leave because if I gave three options and they all were shot down, Iβm wasting my time. As I was leaving I heard the employee talking trash to her coworker about the encounter she just had with my mother and I. Now I normally address idiots like her but ignored it instead because she wasnβt worth my energy at all or being escorted out by Port Authority. All in all, stupid policy of not using debit cards and even stupider employees. Rent somewhere else to save yourself the stress and aggravation
Returns are horrible. Had no clue Thrifty returns went through HERTZ. Car was cheap, but there was no direction until you ask about five people who donβt even work for thrifty
I would not recommend this company at all.
Whatever price they offer you, this is not worth the experience - thatβs a guarantee! If you want your car an hour late, rude staff, dirty vehicle and no chance of calling customer service - Thrifty is for you! Save your sanity and please donβt make the mistake we did.
Smooth process to rent a car and return. Liked it
Flight cancellation due to covid. Thrifty wouldnt let me cancel my booking and charged the full amount. Will not use Thrifty again because they cant be bothered to make exceptions for extreme circumstances. Were all struggling here but Thrifty has no empathy.
As we know travelling can be stressful, when reaching your destination, simply getting in your rental car is a relief. I use my blue chip membership often & at times it is a swift transaction. Except in my most recent experience. When opening the vehicle assigned to me I was greeted with an extreme odor of cigarette smoke. Back inside, stand in line, and wait for processing of another rental vehicle. When returning the vehicle I called to confirm my drop off time and mention that I would be five to ten minutes late. I was told that it would be an extra charge for that time frame. Unpleasant surprise when Im informed at drop off that the ten minutes would not effect the total. Almost got me in the wallet Thrifty, but quite an eye opener.
Wow, havenβt even picked up my car yet and already having a terrible experience. Just arrived to customer service and the line is nearly out the door. Ridiculous
DO NOT RENT FROM HERE BIG SCAM!!! Up charges, unnecessary fees, $15 extra to cross the bridge, you can pay at the bridge but they will tell you something different then charge $95 or more, if you ask customer Service any questions they will NOT help you all the answers will included more up charges. If you change location within the NY City area pick-up or drop off area extra charge, if you call they will help you for $31...Also New York will accept $$ cash at the bridge! But this car rental place tells their customers they donβt accept cash this is called Price gouging at itβs finest!
Nice quick service, decent vehicle, friendly.
Dodgy company, rude 2 managers who also work in Hertz
This is the worst company to rent a car from!!!!!!!!We paid for Xm radio it did not workWe drove from New Jersey to Florida and there was a burning smell and smoke from the engine. I opened the hood and the oil cap was missing and oil all over.Have been on hold for over 30 mins. How do you like that, what if we were stuck on the side of the road. Never again will update when this problem is eventually resolved
WORST customer service on the planet! If youre flying business, go elsewhere (not dollar or hertz since theyre all owned by one company)
BEWARE These people are scam artists. BEWAREHereβs how the particular scam they are trying to get over on me. I booked and paid for the rental through Priceline.com. When I went to pick up my car, the woman working the desk told me I needed a credit card for a deposit of $200 I told her I booked the rental through Priceline and everything should be paid for, to which she replied βdonβt worry, youβll get it back itβs just standard procedureβ so I reluctantly agreed and inserted my card into the chip reader. Now hereβs where the scam takes place, the lady at the counter asks if Iβd like to purchase insurance on the car, to which I declined, I have always declined this option and always will without question. My exact response every time is, β no I just want the car nothing extra no insurance and Iβll return the car with a full tankβ. Thinking this was very clear, she says βokay just sign the CC keypad and remove your cardβ great got it. Done, got the key and Iβm off. Return the car 6 days later without any problems, yay goodbye NJ. 3 days later I notice some weird charge on my CC from Thrifty for $131.14 hmmm weird I thought, better call Priceline to get to the bottom of this, well, Priceline looked into it and told the charge was for the insurance I purchased and I had to take that up with Thrifty. So now I call Thrifty and they basically just say thereβs nothing we can do about it, you inserted your card chip and paid for the insurance, basically calling me a liar, so now Iβm getting it I now know how the scam works. The cashier/ counter worker get a commission for selling you the insurance, so even though you say no, they will simply claim that you accepted the insurance knowing that you wonβt see the charge until after you have returned the car and a few days have passed. I am infuriated by these scum sucking lowlifes, they have refused to help in anyway and I had to file a dispute with my CC company and Iβm not sure they will help either. NO is universal and Iβm sure there was NO misunderstanding. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Priceline.com should Also bear some responsibility for teaming with such a scum company like Thrifty Rental. I am not the only person this has happened to, please read through the reviews and see for yourself. Thrifty Rental, you need to step up and do something about this horrific problem you have with your employees at the Newark NJ airport location. This is theft and it is not okay.
I rented a car in NJ and left it at my hotel while I went to NY, then these guys sent me a mail stating that I passed thru different tolls, I declined it and asked for proof of it, they just went ahead and charged my credit card without any notification, beware of this service, rather pay some extra dollars with a better company, do not do business with them, worst car rental service in USA
DO NOT RENT FROM THEM THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS
Renting a car in NYC can be a nightmare. Although still expensive, it was the cheapest option I could find. More importantly, every employee I interacted with at the Thrifty Newark Airport location were very friendly and helpful.
I will never rent a car from Thrifty again. We had 2 reservations we made over a month in advance THEY DID NOT HONOR .Charged me $200 over the quoted price. On top of that, they charged me $250 dollars for a key I handed to their employee. I never give bad reviews, but felt it necessary after having the worst rental experience ever....
Waited 2 hours in line
Rented a car through Thrifty in Feb 2020. I always get the Fuel Purchase Option (FPO) and told the agent as much. After a 6 hour flight we were tired and did not notice that the FPO was not checked on our contract. When I returned the car I did not put gas in the car because I assumed we had the FPO. The agent when I returned it asked if I put gas in the car, I said no, I had the FPO. He said it wasnβt on the contract but he would honor it. Several weeks later I get a letter stating that since I did not get the FPO they were charging me for 9 gallons of gas plus service charge. This came to $97! For 9 gallons of gas. They have refused to make good on their mistake. I will never use Thrifty again
Awesome, professional and very courteous People, thank you for your service
The manager is a sweet heart
My rental was economical and comfortable, even though it wouldnβt have been my pick of choice, it was great on gas so that made it better!
Good service and nice prices. Quick service in and out. Cars smelled of smoke though. I got decent prices, not great but ok. Also got a really cheap car, but useful for a trip.
I arrived at about 11:15 pm to pick up the car. Everything went smoothly till I went outside to find the car. They told me which car and a number but it took me a while to see where the numbers were. If the agent had said something like look for the numbers on the fence, I would have seen it right away. I found the car and got in. I had an inspection report paper I had been given. I didnt know what to do next. I didnt know if I should wait for an inspection or get in a line of cars nearby or drive toward the green light about 150 yards ahead. I finally got in line but a staff person was walking close by and I was able to get clarification. He told me to drive to the green light. Once there they did a walk around the car. Then I was on my way except that the right side mirror was rotated forward so non visible and non adjustable without stopping and getting out of the car. Once I arrived at my hotel I was able to fix it but the inspector could have easily made the correction before sending me off.Returning the car was a breeze but it would have been nice if the renting agent had mentioned the gas station adjacent to the Hertz rental place so I didnt have to search for a gas station before bringing the car back.
As always, the car hire cost more when we got there, even though the price seemed set in advance. However, the guys in the office were very helpful and gave us some good advice about how not to get fined for travelling on the wrong roads. We still got fined, but at least theyd tried to help!
The worst service you can ever get.... First of all they never updated their location at NJ airport... They make you waste ur time looking for them, anyway after finding their location which it turned to be in the other side of the airport, I see 4 customers waiting with only one person helping !!! Another 40 min waiting!!!! Do they think people have nothing to do or something ?!!!Stay away
I just picked up a rental car. The horn doesnt work. Im about to take my disabled mother on a 3 hour car ride. Away for 3 days, no horn. I had to drive 30 hours to newark airport to get it. No one is picking up there. The rep on the phone said I would be required to take the car back for a new one. After the stress of driving there, picking it up and now having to tend to my mother is beyond stressful that could have and should have been avoided.I have no choice but to leave this on here and hope they read it. NEVER AGAIN, DO NOT RECOMMEND THRIFTY. They cant be reached for help and its all on you.
Expedia hooked me up with this company. Never heard of them before then. Poor service. Didnt mention a deposit until arrival. Also steer clear unless you like them making a 300% profit on your tollsIll be going with enterprise next time. Hope you enjoyed charging me $97.49 for my $21 worth of tolls Thrifty because you will never make another dime from me or anyone I know again
They have made renting a vehicle easy and encouraging. The vehicles are always clean.
Hi just want to let you know we reserved rental #591442106 and had Hyundai Accent blue vehicle 6533913 pic LDNA31 that would not accelerate above 40 miles per hour without making a helicopter sound from the front end of the vehicle, wife and I almost had an accident we want to ensure this vehicle is inspected next time before being issued to another customer, Shawn the agent at Orlando Thrifty was extremely unhelpful, rude, and unprofessional and called police refused to issue a copy of cancellation agreement.
I used Thrifty for the 1st time. The representative Tammy at the front counter was phenomenal. The car was clean. I thought I found a new rental company to frequent. However, this is my first and LAST time using this company. My daily rate was $17 a day. My total car rental was $85.00. I used my own collision insurance so there was no extra charges there. Like other rental companies I expected to pay extra taxes... Maybe $30 or so. But what I did not expect to pay was random fees and taxes that was more than the rental itself. Why did they charge me over $85 in fees? When I called no one could explain what the additional fees are for... just because is definitely not an answer. If you rent from this company expect you pay at about $85 in fees.
I left my birth certificate and Id in one of the cars here trying to retrieve it seems almost impossible ive called over 100 times to no avail.. Ive been transferred to dozens of rep that took note.. Would someone please get back to me concerning my id I left in one of the rental cars.. A 2020 Nissan grey... Please contact me..
My in-laws paid for a car reservation and have been waiting in a line for hours just to get their car. This place sucks! They should have a quick check in process especially at a popular airport. This is so avoidable. Use anyone else. Weve been to busy airports like Orlando and JFK and never had this issue. Only with Thrifty!!!
We we skeptical renting from Thrifty. Ill be super honest in saying that I was disappointed when a Hotwire flash sale I purchased my rental from revealed the company. HOWEVER, this is one of the best experiences Ive had in renting a car! No joke! There wasnt a line, the employee was helpful and informed. We had our car in 15 minutes! It was clean, ran great and dropping it off was a breeze. I would use them again based on this experience.
I am upset that I forgot the lovely ladys name when it came to the greatest customer service ever. Who knew a simple car just to do one simple thing would make my day. Checking in i had absolutely no issues what so ever, gave in my information and she helped me out and explained broke down the information for me. Returning the guy must have forgotten to write down my information but the customer service rep knew how to handle it. I would definitely recommend this place and if I ever need a car again I would go right back here.Yes I modeled the car, I was having a good time hahaOn a different note to anyone going to NY, TAKE THE E-Z PASS. It is definitely worth something that will save you time and money.Sincerely a very happy customer!
Got off the plane a little before 10, got to the rental area 5 after 10 and it is 11:28 and I am still 10 deep in the line. Absolutely unacceptable. There are families with kids here waiting for over an hour and a half, and we have more to go.
It was my second time I have used Thrifty and I cannot complain on them. We had to wait about an hour in pickup line, but got free upgrade to SUV class. No hassle with insurance or similar extras. Car return was fast and straightforward. It was not cheap, but overall good experience. Recommended.
When our flights back to Canada were cancelled due to an ice storm and we were told it would be two days before our rescheduled flights would take off, we headed to Thrifty and as luck would have it, they had a car with Canadian plates that we could take home. Staff were fantastic, the car was clean and comfortable.
Too crowded
I would like to give a big thanks to Shanda and London (Dollar) for helping me during a painful trip at the end of June. These ladies where kind, cheery, and helpful. I had a great experience renting with you. Thanks
It is easy in and out from the airport. When I arrived at the counter the thrifty counter was closed and another counter was handling their customers. There was no sign explaining that and the people at the other counter didnt say anytime when they saw me standing at the counter looking confused. I had to ask someone. They just pointed me in the general direction to find the car. The car was fine and the cost was good but the customer experience was underwhelming.
Great experience and great service! Even in freezing conditions very polite and friendly from start to finish, vehicle was in great condition as well. Will definitely use them again in the future!
This Thrifty Car Rental is a very nice car rental location! Their cars are always ample, and the staff is very accommodating. Jasmin, on the management team, is always very helpful!
Too much waiting
Good people great Attitude
Very dishonest company. We were charged 100$ 1 month after our trip and the money was directly taken from my credit card without any notice or prior paperwork. We thought it was caused by missing a 1.50$ toll on Newburgh-Beacon Bridge. This company was cheating money on prepaid tolls, they insisted on buying the EZ pass saying that there was no cash lanes at the tolls. When we got to the tolls there were actually cash lanes. Theyβll charge you 18$ per day for the prepaid toll even if you decide to only use it for a few days because they donβt sell the days individually. When we were driving we found out that they left the EZ pass box open on the windshield will scan everytime you pass one of the tolls and get a ticket if you didnβt buy the prepaid toll. Closing the EZ box will stop it from scanning, I donβt recommend Thrifty to any visitors.

Very BAD customer service!!Went 5 in the morning to pick up the rental car.On arriving at the counter, they said that their system is down and told us to come after 2 hours.I mean how can we wait for 2 hours to just pick up a car!! If their system was down, the least they could have down was to help us get a car with other vendor nearby with the same or better deal. But their guy at the desk was just rude and said they cannot help us at all. Very bad customer service!!
From the time we walked in the building, it was easy. We were tired from our flight and the staff was wonderful, very pleasant, helpful and fast. We are always happy and wouldnt use any other rental company.Thank you so much
Good prices, great service! Great cars!
I got a full size SUV for the price of a small sedan. Check in/out was quick and easy.
Got extra charges without notice. They also tried to charge for an additional day despite the fact that the car was returned on time. Instead of a full size SUV I got a minivan.
I was miss lead towards buying prepaid toll by telling me that there was no cash lanes at the tolls, and sure there were cash lanes at all tolls I went through. No giving instructions of the car check out process. Bad business practices by counter employee.
Picked up car and declined insurance coverage, lady at the desk told me to sign to accept liability for the car (I told her that I have coverage from my own auto policy and my credit card company). Got charged for $65 liability coverage by Thrifty. Outrageous, the car was only $70. I had to pay double to rent a car from them because it was so unclear I got conned into paying for unnecessary insurance.
The lady who helped us was very friendly. Due to a lot of plane delays that day we had to wait approx 1hr 15min for car because they were trying to turn over the returned cars (incoming cars needed to be inspected, washed and gas tank refilled). You are asked to inspect the car and jot on carbon paper where scratches and dents are but the lighting on the lot was horrible (use flashlight from your phone!)When returning the car rental, navigating back is not easy (even with a navigator!) They need more signage but thats New Jersey for you. The return process was very easy so if your in a rush dont panic. The interesting part about the car rentals at Newark airport is you have to take air trm/train - when we were returning the car (there is P1 & P2) the people on the air tram/train needed to go to P2 but it was closed! So for that - I can see a very large problem. This couple had been on the air tram/train for over 30 minutes expecting it to stop going and then on the way back (it never stopped for either, eek).AND I got a Nissan Rogue for an excellent rental price.
Nice service personnel, helpful even got free gas for a mistake that hotwire made.
Watch out for their scams. Drove car 100 miles and returned with full tank of gas after filling up 5min prior to drop off. Received bill showing 0/8 gas at dropoff and $60+ charge.Their βcustomer serviceβ call line has hung up on me 5 times trying to resolve.Thankfully kept my gas receipt and will pursue this thoroughly. Buyer beware of this scam at EWR.
Need a better explanation of the EZ pass... Which doesnt work for airport drop off parking
Prepaid and pre-ordered and still 1 AM waiting over an hour to get the car of course itβs not a car we have ordered and thereβs no one to talk to disgrace of a company!
I have had satisfactory experiences at other Thrifty locations around the country, but the Newark airport branch is the most incompetent, poorly managed rental car operation I have encountered anywhere. I have spent an hour waiting already, and still have at least another hour in line. The staff here seems utterly indifferent to the delay, and totally clueless about how to solve the problem. The only reason I continue to wait is that I prepaid the full rental charge. Never again β this is absurd.
Oscar and Lashonda(sp?) were so incredibly kind and helpful. Great service, great people. Itβs employees like this that keep people coming back
Its been so many years I havent rent and the guy at the counter was not in the mood to help. I was so confused. On the other hand Ed at the receiving end was a very good to me. THANKS
Calvin was very helpful and he provided amazing service. Thrifty and Calivin in particular were very understanding. We returned the car at night and Calvin was very patient and accomodating .
Worst service. Currently renting a from Newark Airport. Car stank of cigarette smoke. We thought the smell would dissapate but it is overwhelming even after driving for some time with the windows down. Staining our clothes with the smell. Rang to speak to Thrifty via their hotline. Served by Shaneale who was unhelpful. She informed me we have to return the car back to the airport and pick up a new one, which would require over 1hr round trip, not including traffic, which is not possible during our holiday. When I asked to speak to her manager, I was told there are no managers on the floor (called at 2130hrs). Disgusted.
I love Thrifty car rental...The best service and the best prices....
Cheap car rental and good customer relation.
It seems as though Thrifty is always driving up the rental price with extra charges. We told them that we did not want to purchase the $100 pass for tolls. Conveniently, however, they leave the toll pass in the car open and active. So if you do not realize that it is open, the first time you go through a toll (very soon after exiting the airport), wham! $100 charge. I would not rent from them again.
Total scam artists. Booked online the girl tried to upsell everything including some platepass scam they have going at $18 PER DAY of rental regardless if you only go through a single toll on the first day.Theyve been reported to the CFTC and the BBB so its only a matter of time before they get caught but BEWARE! This company is cheap for a reason. They prey on their customers.
They were awesome! Allowed me to change my car mid week because I didnt want the Texas plates. Friendly staff, nice vibe all around.
Extremely poor and nonchalant service. Waitied for 2 hours to rent a car, and the desk simply said to me, βthatβs life!β They also told me I can simply cancel my reservation. That is Thrifty!!!
Was a fast and easy rental experience. The car we got was very small but in good condition and clean. Overall and easy rental experience.
Renting the car was no problem, but when returning it took 45 minutes before someone told me to just write the mileage and fuel level on the contract and just walk through the pouring rain to the building. Very poor customer service. No apologies either.
Service was quick, but the car was dirty, additionally, I was charged something that was not mentioned while booking.
Had no issues picking up the car and the staff was friendly and helpful. Being a blue chip member allowed me to skip the lines and they upgraded my one day rental to a specialty car with satellite radio and remote start.
Associate at the desk was friendly and helpful. Vehicles are never as clean as they could be inside; however I am not bothered as I feel less bad when I get the interior a bit messy myself! Will continue to rent from here on my bi-weekly trips to the area!
I highly recommend Thrifty!! Speed service and great customer service skills. I was given a nice upgrade into a luxury car at a very cheap rate! Word of advice I highly recommend their coverage! It saved me while my car got damaged in a parking lot! The coverage that your credit card/expeidia/hotwire etc dont usually cover up to the full value of the rental car. And also credit cards DO NOT cover 3rd party liability! I had to that learn the hard way :( they offer a liability package! Save your butts!
Mike the supervisor outside with the cars was amazing. There was a problem with our reservation and he went beyond to accommodate us. Thank you Mike!
I love Thrifty, but late night at Newark airport is a small disaster. Ive been three times now where Ive had to wait - forever - for an attendant and car, and Im a Blue Chip member. They need to add a second staff member so that the line doesnt get backed up by someone needing extended service.
A nightmare. Staff were fine, but renting the car I had booked in advance took TWO HOURS at Newark Airport, and I had 3 grandchildren and a (temporarily) disabled husband with me. Will never use Thrifty again.
I WOULD GIVE ZERO STARS IF I COULD. Besides the wait at the airport which is OK whatever your systems were down they WAY OVER charged us for tolls. We had the car in Florida and passed some tolls that charge your licences plate so when we returned the car we asked how we pay the tolls and they told us they would charge us ten dollars for the tolls. My husband just got a notice that they are charging him 58 DOLLARS for 8 DOLLARS worth in tools. I travel quite often and so does my mother and in laws and I will never be using this car service again!
Nice place with competetove price, better deal than other rental places like Hertz, Dollar, National and Enterprise.
