Very professional barber shop, sharp clippers and scissors, fresh blades& no cuts. Hot foam & fresh razor for the edge cuts and back of the neck. Reasonable prices and fast. Lots of barbers (5) with no wait. This is a great shop I would highly recommend and go back as a regular. Left a big tip since they do their job so well.

Highly recommended! Today was my first time visiting the Ferry Barber Shop after my regular barber had retired. The appointment was easily made via their online portal and when I arrived, they were on-time getting me in the chair and I found the place very clean and there was just an awesome vibe. My appointment was with Joe, who turned out to be a great guy as we discussed growing up in Newark and about our families and friends.When time came for the haircut, I could not be any more pleased. Had fun debating Joe, the owner, about politics even though we are on different sides. Always been happy with my haircut and the vibe of the place. They enforce masks and temperature screenings which I’m happy to see.

I am new to the area and searched for a barber shop in the area and came across a dozen or so. I called about half of them and I spoke with Joe who said to come on in for a cut. He was booked solid and about to take his lunch but instead he gave me one of the best cuts I ever got. I felt terrible and saw he was working his tail off but we had a great conversation and the whole experience was a ‘breath of fresh air’. Thank you again Joe for making me feel like I’ve been coming to you for the last 45 years and not a first time walk-in.It’s a ‘no brainer’ people. Save yourself the time. I did the work and read all the reviews and compared places. This is where you want to go.To avoid being ‘that guy’, like me and messing up another man’s lunch, simply go online and book time with Joe if you want him to cut your hair specifically.

Women always say how good looking I am after a haircut. That didn’t start happening until I switched to Ferry Barber shop. They have always taken care of me. Until Covid id just walk in and every barber was great for a cut, a beard trim, or even a shave. It’s by appointment now. If you make one you won’t be disappointed. I will continue getting my hair cut only here.

Had to stop in for an emergency haircut before an unexpected trip to Europe and Daniel did an absolutely cracking job. Proper old-fashioned gentlemen’s barber shop using tried and tested techniques. A mere ten minutes from EWR by Uber and absolutely worth the trip. $20 for an undercut is an absolute bargain and if you can afford it, you should tip these guys a tenner for the quality work they do.

Ruined my hairline for the next 6-9months: I had to explain what a Fade was because when he was done with my fade, there was no actual fading of anything. Also o asked him not to touch the top of my head where my long hair was and to NOT shape up my hairline in the front but he did anyway. They I reminded him not to do that and he went at it again. Now it will take me 6-9 months of having weird bangs to have my front section match the rest of my hair length. See photos.

Owner (Joe) is selective on who he is kind to and who he is rude to based on their ethnicity. Further out of all the barbershops in newark this is the worst one...they never have the a/c on...the barbers are always cursing each other out, its not that great of a place especially for the price. Ive been coming here for almost 5 years and would recommend to anyone. Joe and his staff run a great shop and the conversations are always entertaining. Cant beat the warm shaving cream and straight razor shave.

So I walked in today not really busy I was waiting for a new guy all the way at the end he looked like he knew what he was doing everyone that left him (the guy at the end on your right side looked amazing) so some new guy with a yellow g shock cut my hair before I sat in the chair I had a bad feeling I asked him to cut a little bit off the top 1-1.5 on the side and he did not do that he had no pattern he looked like he did whatever he ended up cutting literally almost everything and left a little patch of hair on my head the guy all the way in the left the one in the first chair had to leave his costumer to help this man and told him “ you’re doing it wrong” he had to do my eyebrows and cut my sides and the top again to show him I always leave a tip and today I didn’t I honestly only recommend the guy with all the tattoos he never failed me ALSO him nor the owner ever told me he was TRAINING!!!! if that was the case I would of never gotten my hair cut and would of waited.

Great place to go for a haircut! Has a classic barber shop feel. Seems like some of barbers have specialties, so would suggest asking based on the cut you want. I dont get anything fancy so I go with whoever is open and havent had a bad haircut. Been going for almost 10 years & appreciate all the cuts!

So glad I found this local barber shop since I work in the area and have a busy life outside of the normal work day. They are open bright and early and Joe the owner is more than a great barber, he is a great guy. I am confident you will enjoy your experience as much as I do each time I come for a cut. In 33 years Ive never had someone use an aluminum comb while straight edging, today Joe explained why its done and why being taught by his Father many years ago still pays off. Stop reading this review and go pay them a visit, you will be happy you did!

After doing some research on the best barber shops in the area, I decided to come here, however, I was turned away immediately because of my gender. As a woman, I wanted a buzz cut and I was already nervous because I had never cut my hair that short but the barber flat out told me that they dont cut womens hair and to go to the salon next door. This is blatant gender discrimination, it was incredibly embarrassing for me when all I wanted was a simple haircut that wouldve been better done by an experienced barber. This experience was belittling and unbelievably upsetting.

Updating my review because Joe did an amazing job on my hair. I had a Job Interview and the first thing the boss had noticed was my hair! Ive been going for about 9-10 years and not every time did i have a great cut but everyone has their bad days. If you ever do stop in, you definitely want to give one of their many talented barbers a try, as the owner hires only the best in Newark. Joe in my honest opinion is the best barber in that shop.

Went there the day before my miami trip (yesterday). The kid doing my hair was more occupied on everything else except my hair. He was very rough, and now I have a large cut from one side of my head to the other just under my hair line. Will attempt to post a picture.

I went in barber shop Ferry and my barber was Ronaldo a Brazilian guy very kind and mostly professional . Was amazing 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

They have Dirty stuff, and they do not know how hair cut.Not busy at the time I arrived, two people were sitting empty. shavers very dirty, definitely a very dirty barber. it does a terrible job as it appears in the photo. He also hurt my son when he shaved! After the shave, I had to drive to another place to fix it.

Would rate 10 stars if I could. Staff has great attention to detail and takes good care of you.

The guys are usually trying to get rid of you quick; I got cut really bad because of the same rush and because they are usually in a bad mood, the guy didnt even say Im sorry, he said you got cut today, no s&#+t. They dont provide a personalized service. I got haircuts with pretty much all of them several times. And although I usually tip good, it didnt make any difference at this place. In spite of the fact that some of them know how to cut hair and its location its very convenient for me, I dont feel like going back there. Very very poor service. I wouldnt recommend it at all

Went here and loved it they did the haircut right I usually get a buzz cut anyway but it was fast and done well which is what I look for a barber shop. The price for mens haircut is about $15 currently

My son gets haircuts from here for about 4 years and he always comes home looking sharp no matter which barber he chooses they all do a great job!

Very long wait but a great haircut makes it worth it. I would suggest going on a weekday when the place is less busy, for a shorter wait.
