This place is far from being a Renaissance Category hotel. It should be among the lowest category below the Fairfield Inn. The bathroom was small, the bed was low and did not even look like the Marriott type of bedding to which I am accustomed. The bathroom is not a typical Renaissance bathroom, very small with a small lavabo. While there were two towels, there were no wash clothes and no soap other than the hand soap. The restaurant which I tried to use for my breakfast was by far the worst I witnessed and experienced. First the restaurant had very little and the seating area was outside while construction work waa going on. Imagine what it looks like with dust and equipments from the construction site. For COVID-19, I could not understand why people or guess were not required to wear masks, including personnel. A real turn-off during this Pandemic. Notwithstanding, all the bad stuff, the staff who checked me in and out were nice and courteous, except for the girl at the restaurant during the free breakfast the Saturday I checked out.
Really loved this place... they have a roof top bar .. Great breakfast and a very comfortable bed .. the hotel desk agents were the best.. I guess the only complaint I would have is the hallway and room the I was given reaked of weed ( I dont smoke and my boyfriend doesnt either ) really didnt like that part.. but other than that I loved it .. I would highly recommend coming here
The hotel itself is fine. Rooms are small but not completely cramped. Bathrooms are fairly normal size with a nice shower. Its not really set up for lengthy stays but worked fine for us being there 2 nights. Important to know the rooftop club and pool are not run by the hotel even though advertise it on the website. Depending on the night there can be crowds of young people waiting in line to get into the club and one line is at the elevator area which is annoying. A bouncer stopped my kids thinking they were trying to cut the line for the club on the way to the elevator which is something that should never happen.Really wasnt a big deal but just a strange setup and enough to write about. Other than that it was an uneventful stay. Pretty straightforward.Bar and restaurant automatically add 18% to the check which is fine but they fail to tell you so just be aware.
Absolutely Stunning Views - Be sure to pay a little Extra for the city side it is definitely worth it. No major complaints a few minor issues that dont need to be mentioned, they were mostly resolved. A few requests for the hotel though - Mini Fridge would be really nice, and move the elevator key fob reader higher and make it work correctly! Besides that this place is classy, new and fresh, great service, great people staying at the hotel too. Has that special feeling you want in a property. Thanks Guys!
The rooftop pool isnt part of the hotel. Its a totally separate business which guests that stay at the hotel get no incentives or discounts to go to it. It costs the same as anyone else - $150 per person spending minimum on food/drink to go.This verbiage is printed on other websites like Kayak/expedia that mislead customers : Find a hidden retreat at our rooftop bar and lounge, which encompasses 360-degree vistas amidst a lush, garden-like setting. Make use of a sparkling outdoor pool and stay healthy at our fitness center, open 24 hours a dayWhile the hotel was nice enough I just feel like they are scamming customers with this false advertising. The need to correct this asap.
Beautiful hotel, had the best time. The staff is truly phenomenal. Bed was exceedingly comfortable, views were beautiful from the room. Shower and room were gorgeous. My husband and I had a wonderful, well needed little getaway.
My favorite place to stay in NYC. I have stayed here twice now, once for 10 days and anther time for 4. The location is great! Love the neighborhood. Walking distance to Times Square, the High-Line, great food! and view of the Empire State building on the higher floors. The furnishings are very modern and up to date, shower and bathrooms are incredible and staff is great! Make this your NYC spot!
My friend got stolen while sleeping in this hotel last night. The theft must be some employee. Never stay here, never recommend to anyone.
Rooms are nice size and clean. Elevators dont consistently work with room key which makes getting to room stressful and difficult. Very pretentious and doesnt have the goods to back up that kind of attitude.
I am currently staying at this hotel for the weekend and at first my stay was going pleasant until I came across the word customer service ever! Mariam was her name and I’ve never received such poor service. She made it seem as though I was bothering HER when she was supposed to be the one servicing me.! She was so unprofessional. Simply because of her service I will NEVER come back or recommend this hotel to anyone !!!!! What a disgrace
TL;DR:- Its clean but trying way too hard at a trendy facade- Basic tech features in the hotel did not work or were incredibly glitchy----Have you ever had a piece of jewelry that looked pretty but turned your finger green? The Renaissance New York Chelsea inspires a strikingly similar feeling. There has clearly been a lot of effort put into making this hotel appear chic but, unfortunately, most of these features are irritatingly clunky or unnecessarily pretentious.Standard features in a modern hotel room- including the digital key-- did not work. The chat feature between the app and the front desk was incredibly slow and the app prompted you to make choices about amenities in the room that were not actually available. Information about breakfast, wifi, or check out was not available on the app or given to us during check in.These could be written off as some glitches in the app but the technology snafus continued in the key-dependent elevator, which did not consistently work or let you on to the correct floor. At one point, the elevator opened up onto the 5th floor, which appeared to be uninhabited, but would not let us out in our floor (the 6th).Somewhere Nowhere, the roof top bar, seemed like it would have promise. We figured we could stop in for a drink around 5 before heading to dinner later that night. After trying to get in through the hotel elevator (silly, that we thought the buttons in the elevator would work), we were told we needed to use the exterior entrance. No big deal until, at that entrance, we were told that going in was at the doormans discretion (whether that meant cash or who they deemed trendy enough was unclear) and ultimately, that we would need to pay a $150 minimum per person in order to get a drink.Cut to later that night, when we made the mistake of trying to use an elevator in the hotel lobby to get to our room and were followed by a staff member who told us these now could only be used to access the roof and that we needed to leave. It seems there is some confusion as to whether the bar is part of the hotel (in which case it should be more accommodating to guests) or not (and therefore should be less of an inconvenience to those staying at the hotel). After checking out of the hotel, I discovered that I was charged an extra $28, which supposedly for a wifi/ food credit that I was not informed about or provided a receipt for.Overall, the hotel was clean enough but does not achieve nearly the level of sophistication they attempt to pull off. In a city with several thousand hotels, I would not stay at this one again.
Beautiful Newish hotel in Chelsea. Fantastic location close to the Flower market, FIT, Chelsea and hundreds of restaurants and bars. Lovely front desk people and management who really try to go above and beyond to make your stay great. Restaurant opening soon I was told, as well as lobby bar and next is the Rooftop bar and grill with Stunning views. My room looking out at the Empire State building and was impressive. Rooms in general are smallish by US standards, but for a big city wholly adequate and perfectly planned out with great beds and bedding. All safety protocols were being observed and everyone I encountered including guests were fully masked. Overall a most lovely property and I will return again for sure. Just as an FYI, I have been traveling for many years and have been staying in hotels worldwide about 120 nights per year for the past 25+ years. I have seen some terrible ones and some amazing ones, this one, for the price, value, location, staff proposition is a welcome addition to my stable of favourites.
No pool.We booked this hotel because we thought it had a pool. The pool is next door, it was closed for the season (still 80 degrees in NYC) and if it was open it would require reservations with a $150/person min spend limit.Breakfast vouchers were not clear and staff couldnt explain.Hotel was clean and in a great location.
Stayed in a number of similar hotels in the area and this is by far the best in terms of staff and amenities. Clean and everything works, which from my experience isnt always the case foe hotels in the area. Staff are extremely helpful.
THE POOL IS NOT INCLUDEDHere now…one word to sum it up is ‘misled.’ The pool which is prominently displayed in pictures on the Bonvoy app and at the hotel website is operated by a third party vendor and NOT operated by the hotel. We booked this hotel based on it having a pool. Summer visit, 4 nights with our children so we needed one available. Also, for those traveling with their children safety on this block may be an issue. There is a homeless tenement as others have mentioned.
Renaissance Chelsea is a good hotel in a central location. The flatiron area is teaming with good restaurants. The room was clean and the views of New York city were beautiful. The staff is courteous and helpful. The hotel is quiet and beds are comfortable. Overall a good stay. Due to the Pandemic a number of services are restricted.
The service was fine. Whenever we needed something, staff were responsive (Although our room didnt have a functioning telephone). However, this is not up to the caliber of other Renaissance Hotels Ive stayed at in the past. It was more like a Courtyard. They had a tiny restaurant that was only open a few hours for dinner, the bar was very small and also open for a small window of time. The rooms were very small and had limited space to store clothes (basically a small Ikea-like unit that had two cabinets for clothes and a tiny closet). They didnt even bother to put traditional night tables next to the bed, just a small little TV dinner table. If youre looking for a traditional Renaissance experience, go to the Renaissance hotel in mid-town, which has much nicer amenities.
Staff goes above and beyond to accommodate every need. Third party runs the rooftop and there is an elite club upstairs, however no matter what you are wearing, where you are from or what time of day… the entire cleaning staff, security and GM make sure your stay is happy and your needs are met. Parking is never easy in this are of New York so that is to be expected. A club in a hotel, with this status in the fashion district? I felt pretty all day and night. Thank you to everyone for checking in on us.
Beautiful hotel, well located in Chelsea. Very friendly and helpful staff. There’s a rotating homeless encampment next door. Guests smoke marijuana in the rooms (which runs through a shared air vent system). I stayed at the hotel for 13 nights and it occurred every other night. As of early June 2021, restaurant, lounge, and rooftop are closed.
The Best. Here is what I value in hotel staff: adapting, owning an issue and correcting it. Matt and his team are rock stars. A few hiccups to start but they used this as an opportunity to make our family feel so valuable, job well done team! Mistakes will happen, it’s how you handle them!
Best customer experience!. The rooms are excellent, clean and stylish. The gym has a peloton. Most importantly, the staff is so incredibly friendly. I just had the best experience after staying at the hotel. I was having an issue with the stay showing up in my marriott account so I put in an inquiry through the website chat and someone from the hotel called me within minutes! Better still, I didnt answer the first time because I dont answer numbers I dont recognize and they called back! They quickly understood my challenge and committed to helping right away. I have stayed at this hotel 3 times now and will do so every time I visit NY!
Loved the experience! I was in New York for a short time, but the staff (Lucy)of this awesome hotel, made me want to come back and stay right there whenever I go back again... And I will! Definitely a must stay-
I had the worst check in process at this hotel. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The front desk receptionist. MARIUM, super rude, nasty, and disrespectful. After asking her why she needed to charge my card again bc the reservation was paid for she got a snobby attitude and under her breathe whispered she wish she could cancel my reservation. She then charged my card and wrote our room number on the card I asked for corporate number she took the card back and acted as if the room was no longer ready. And could make a complaint on the website. Then went behind our back and called the third party we booked with and canceled our reservation. Hands down the most inappropriate and wicked individual ive come across. I would never stay at this unprofessional they call establishment
Had a great experience, check in was great Lucy explained all the hotels amenities, and policys. Lucy was very courteous and displayed excellent customer service. I wish the room was a little bigger but overall I enjoyed my stay and the friendly customer service. I would definitely recommend and would book again. :)
A nice Marriott lobby and room, but the room was small even with a Platinum status upgrade. Also the view room still had views of construction next door. The key card swipe in the elevator gave everyone I rode with trouble. A glass of wine at the bar was $16. The rooftop pool isnt available to guests. You have to pay a $150 per person minimum. It is an expensive hotel to not have access to the pool.
Just FYI: the rooftop, pool and restaurant are all closed. Part of the reason we booked at this hotel was because of these amenities, only to find out that they are operated by third parties that are not part of the hotel. The amenities are advertised on all of the travel websites so this feels a bit like false advertising. The bar was open but, again, not part of the hotel and the bartender was pretty rude. The room was VERY small but the bathroom was nice.
Stayed here for a week with work. It was great. Rooms small, but that’s NYC.
Booked the suite and lets just say it was barely bigger than your standard sized room. Little note for yourself, its right under the rooftop club so dont expect to get any sleep on Fri and Sat nights as it goes on till 3am. If you get unlucky and get the suit facing south, you are practically looking at the next bld construction. The room wasnt ready till 7.30pm (trust me after being on the road for a while and then not being able to check in, it does get frustrating). The staff seemed uninterested in doing anything more than the bare minimum. Dont waste your money here folks...
Stayed just this past weekend and had a 5-star experience. I had accidentally booked at the midtown location and found myself in the lobby of this Chelsea Renaissance with no reservation... Tanner at the front desk was excellent- he immediately helped us book a king room and gave us a complimentary upgrade to a high floor room with views of the Empire State Building. Staff were all friendly, room was clean and perfect for what we needed.
2 star ratingRoom Size - The rooms are small, (the pics that you see online give the impression of a spacious room, that would be incorrect )Noise level- The hotel has 35 floors with a rooftop club on the top.I was put on the 30th floor - the first night was no problem but the second night I could hear the base from the club thumping. I attempted to go to bed by 11pm I was woken up at least 3 more times btwn 11-2am**You can hear the neighbor above you through the vents which are in the bed room right above the bedTwo lights in my room were not working. The rooms dont have a mini refrigerator (which is something that I was expecting to be there )Also the only ice machine for the whole hotel is located on the C level just below the lobby. You can imagine just how much fun that trek was after checking in and unpackingNo complimentary bottles of watersThe hotel elevators which are 4 in total are always busy. At night you have to share one of the elevators with the rooftop club - mind you that elevator only stops on the roof deckPlease note the hotel takes a $200 hold on your card. When I booked the reservation I specifically asked this question they told me NO just the cost for the room for two nights $451.21(They ultimately took 610.00 granted I will get the $200 back but when you are trying to make your money last these little tips would be helpful)I won’t be staying here again
Very nice hotel in a peaceful neighborhood. Staff very friendly and helpful, and rooms were clean and comfortable, especially the beds. We also enjoyed the city view from our room. I booked on expedia and for extra twenty bucks I was able to add free parking. By the front desk they handed me the free ticket, the garage was only a block away, so parking was quick and easy, no hassle. The reason I took off one star is the fact that its impossible to contact the hotel thru their number, this was very frustrating for me.
This was so disappointing! Got lucky and got parking across the street. Was checked in by Matt, simply asked him if he knew anything about the meters across the street. He said just pay the meter, we did just that and we were fine. Booked a king room with a corner view. We did not get what we payed for! So dont come on here talking about oh well availability blah, blah, blah!!! We should get the room we payed for! I know Covid is a factor but the towels under the sink were stained and smelled of mildew, the shower would get clogged every time we turned it on. We would have told the front desk but we were rushing for a 5pm and we got back late and we were there for 1 night so why even bother. Also, They had the NERVE to charge us for parking!!!!!!! We did get refunded but that was only after I called twice because Lucy never called me back. It is safe to say that i will never book at this hotel or recommend to anyone. There are way better hotels in the area for sure!!!
The hotel is nice and super clean. Good location. Close to grocery stores. The front desk staff is very nice and accommodating. However, I did not like this hotel compared to the three hotels we stayed in Manhattan (mid-town).PLEASE NOTE (As of June 2021)- NO ROOFTOP access! (And they should have updated on their website! This is fault advertising)- NO internet included (it will be $15.99 for fast internet)- NO house keeping. they never came for the 4 nights we stayed! (We knew this later that we have to request 24 hours in advance)- The AC was off and on all night and it bothered us because we kept being hot and cold all night (temperature fluctuated from 67 to 71).- The gym is tiny and no window. It’s like you are working out in a box.I preferred Hyatt House Chelsea which is about only 2 blocks away and about the same price. It’s got everything I want. Breakfast (on the go)and internet are included. The view at the gym is also very nice.
During my recent stay at your hotel I had the displeasure of interacting with staff member Marium. She was very disrespectful and rude. Every time I asked a question she was very dismissive and condescending on top of waiting over an hour for our room that should’ve been ready.
Stylish hotel, great location with friendly and responsive staff. The shower wasnt all that great
Stayed here for three days and loved it. Price was fair, the location is nice, and a walking distance to time square.
I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. The air conditioner in our room didnt work during our entire stay and it was 90 degrees in NYC. The hotel was not able to move us to another room or fix the problem. This was supposed to be a special treat for a staycation but we honestly wish that we had stayed at home and not wasted the money. The view was amazing but the overall experience was marred by intolerable accommodations and disappointing service.
Hotel is new, clean and centrally located in one of the best neighborhoods since it has access to union square, midtown, koreatown and meatpacking district. Staff was helpful, hotel was nicely decorated and rooms were comfortable.
It was ok. Clean, unique, freindly staff. But would’ve liked to know that the rooftop was closed and the parking validation kinda screwed me. Otherwise, fine. Tiny room but really cool.
Family trip / Family of 4 : Pictures shown are for penthouse suites not normal rooms. Double bed set up was very small & lacked storage options to accommodate guest for two beds. Tiny tiny rooms. Our toddler kept bumping into things getting hurt. First impression at the check in was disappointing. Felt like CVS down the street cared more for our business then the front desk at the Renaissance hotel. We are spending $1,600 for our stay. A little hospitality would be nice. No one helped with our bags, no one showed us how to use the difficult keyed entry to elevators. Half the elevators are off limits in the evening to accommodate a night club they have in the evenings. Literally bouncers telling you (who pays for a room) that you cannot use the elevators. Another trip to the front desk I had to wait a long time for the clerk to finish texting on their phone to get acknowledged. Bartender in the lobby was very busy flirting. Overall pretty lousy. Gave me the impression the business is run by young immature adults, maybe Renaissance is their first time employer & there is no manager on duty that can lead them by example. We will make our way to Ace Hotel next nyc trip. We received above & beyond service from Ace in LA. I imagine it be the same in NYC. Only positive is location. Food, late night pizza, CVS, Whole Foods, coffee shop, bougie breakfast all in walking distance.
Great staff exceptional customer service beautiful hotel and Ill definitely will book this hotel
Lady at the front desk was SOOOO rude and made my experience so horrible!! Treated me and my husband like we weren’t paying customers will not be returning
I enjoyed my stay very much. The ambience is so nice as well as the decor. I loved particularly the rooftop! Nothing tops having a good drink while looking at the sun sinking.
Would skip this hotel if you’re a Marriot Bonvoy member. They could care less for your status as they provided pretty bad service i.e. no housekeeping, long wait time for any requests, asks to check your room key as you enter the hotel (profiling much?). We requested daily housekeeping for a 6-night stay and they missed 2 of the days.. which is ludicrous given that’s literally basic necessities a hotel should offer.Separately, agree with some of the commenters here that the rooftop pool/bar was misleading. This hotel really doesn’t offer much except its location and its interior design. Room was incredibly small with paper-thinned walls. All in all, feels like the staff could use some management and customer success training.
I loooove this place. The staff and ambiance is next to none. Its a must stay spot. In the right location(not too far from the time Square but close enough to get there in a jiffy) 👌🏾👌🏾😍😍😍
Stayed here during NYE for a staycation and had a great time. Room was very clean except for a random bright red bra that was hanging off the mirror in the bathroom. I didnt notice it until the morning of our checkout since it was so high up and almost hidden out of view. Small issue we had was the reading lights on the headboard. One of them would not stay in place to turn off. It looked like there was some adhesive used before to turn the light off but the stickyness wore off. We had to call the front desk to have them check it out but only solution was to just pull the light out of the outlet behind the headboard.
Hotel doesn’t own the pool, so there isn’t actually a pool hotel guests can use. False advertising. Customer service is terrible. Reception doesn’t pick up the phone. Elevators suck. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE.
This might have been the smallest hotel room in a city known for tiny hotel rooms. It barely fit both mine and my girlfriends suitcases and we had climb over them anytime we wanted to got in our out of bed/the bathroom/enter or leave the room. But the worst part, you apparently have to request maid service 24hrs in advance, and they DO NOT TELL YOU THIS! It is very sad because this hotel is conveniently placed next to my new office and I will never stay here again.
Stayed at the Renaissance this past weekend to celebrate my anniversary, and we are so glad we chose the Renaissance. Our corner room with a city view felt very special. It was very clean and elegant. The rooftop view of the Empire State Building was incredible. The bartender was very friendly, and we enjoyed grabbing a drink at the bar before heading out to our dinner reservation. We will definitely be coming back to the Renaissance, and we are looking forward to seeing it during the non-covid era, and during the summer to check out the rooftop pool!
The staff was professional and courteous. The lobby bartender Victor was incredibly nice. The rooms are very comfortable and modern. The hotel is less than a 10 minute walk to MSG. Go Rangers!
This is a fantastic hotel with tons of great amenities and is very reasonably priced! The rooms are extremely clean and have a very modern bathroom/appliances.The only reason this hotel is not getting five stars is ONLY because there is no fridge/microwave located within the rooms AND there was only ONE ice machine located in the basement!
The lobby is cool. Room was large for NYC. Clean, nice lighting, bath was modern. I liked everything except maybe the pictures on the wall. The reason why I only gave it 1 star was the 5:30 am bed bug bites.. I now have 2 bites on my leg and 10 hours later they still bleed.. I just hope that none got into my bag that I took home
Marium so unprofessional and very disrespectful this absurd to me and my family while traveling for a vacation.
Stayed during April 24th - 25th. Room was very clean with a nice lemon scent. I think they definitely take extra care of hygiene because of COVID. View was great too and was given pretty much everything asked for. I would probably come back here again :)
Very confused. Booked through Hotels.com where it clearly lists there was a rooftop terrace and bathrobes included. Also, don’t know why I paid more for a nicer room as it doesn’t look like the photos. I understand there can be some discrepancies between Hotels.com and this hotel but it’s the hotels responsibility to see what’s promised when you book their room through others. I would also understand if the terrace and robes weren’t available “due to Covid” but it’s not even that. They’re “maintaining” the rooftop and “ran out” or robes 🙄 Would have totally picked a different place if there weren’t false advertising.
Only pros are the central location and new construction. Everything else is cheap or has been cut due to “covid”. No housekeeping service, even during a 4 day stay (impossible to request in time too). Broken air conditioning and only remedy was moving rooms (no help or bell service offered). Missing light bulbs in the room (requested a fix - they just removed the entire light fixture instead). Broken elevators. No rooftop at all. No restaurant. Skip this.
Place is ok but they don’t let the guest access the rooftop easily.
Great hotel room and front desk workers
Amazing rooftop place! Exquisite
One really bad experience!I cant recommend it.I was there looking for rest and came out more tired.
Clean, modern. For the location, pretty good prices. Friendly staff.
Top score for service at the Ren in Chelsea. The team was very friendly. Special thanks to Cory for helping us out with some last minute printing.
Loved my time at this hotel - brand new, clean, incredible views, and the staff was incredibly friendly. I was in nyc for a visit at HSS and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. I can’t imagine how great it will be when the rooftop is re opened!
Clean hotel, spacious rooms for NYC, and convenient location. Took away stars because they didnt let us know upon check-in that we had to link our Marriot Bonvoy account to get free wifi. We followed the instructions when connecting to the wifi network and signed in with our Marriot Bonvoy account info but we still got charged for 2 nights of wifi usage. I had to call and follow up about the charges since they didnt provide an itemized receipt when we checked-out. They also refused to refund those charges since we completed our stay, but there was no way to review the charges since they did not provide a receipt.Wont be staying here again due to their lack of communication from the front desk.
Pretty nice stay, stayed for about 7 hours. The TV was hard to use to put in my account information. The room was really nice, but the chair I sat on at the desk was wobbly as hell, one of the legs was not attached to the seat. And even the broken part was under the seat on the carpet. Thought the room might’ve had a microwave but they don’t. The usb night lamp next to the bed melted one of my chargers and I didn’t realize till my fingers felt the burn when I picked it up. Be extra cautious with that. I have to replace the charger now...
This was one of the nicest hotels Ive ever stayed in. The price was very fair. The decor and design were top notch. The beds were super comfortable. Easily the nicest bathroom Ive ever used in a hotel. I would highly recommend this place to friends and family.
Very underrated, modern hotel with close proximity to great restraraunts and transportation options.
Last night I celebrated my 29-birthday here and I really enjoyed my stay. The front desk were helpful and friendly.
My friends and I booked a reservation for one night in Sept.6. It was booked they hotels.com with a great deal 188 for one night and few included with two free breakfast vouchers. On the hotels.com website it spoke to facilities and since I am a Bonvoy Marriott member I spoke to the Marriott customer service in the booking. They confirmed the amenities but that pool would be closed. Rooftop lounge and restaurant would be open. The day I check in I spoke with the hotel and I soon find out that not only did hotels.com have it incorrect but also Bonvoy customer service because their rooftop was not open only Thur-sat. Including the restaurant was not open and serving no food on site. Needless to say we continued the stay and made the best of it. When we checked in the staff was friendly and accommodated is free WiFi which is normally and $10 charge. When we arrived in the room all looked good but the soon later during the stay we found a empty beer can under the TV area which told us the room was not properly cleaned from who ever had stayed in the room before us. The free breakfast redemption was a disaster the following morning with all items incorrect and all drinks were missing even ones that had been paid for and not covered by the voucher. Soon after check out I soon found out that the hotel charges a $25 fee to all guests which is stated in their website but not on hotels.com or even my reservation from hotels .com. I called to have this charge refunded. The area outside the hotel has make shifts homeless tents area unfortunately with that night a naked man walking around with no pants right outside the hotel. Which the hotel did nothing about for the safety of their guests. It was a very fend for one self attitude. I understand it’s covid time and resources are tight including staff but with a hotel running at a low capacity wouldn’t a hotel think to insure the guests who are staying are being attended and at least safe and feel special.
Super clean during the pandemic and friendly staff! Beautiful property.. it’s a must stay if visiting from out of town. Roof top is unreal!
This place was top-notch... The view I had was stunning! Very clean, attentive workers, alert security, secure way in out up or down ... Rooftop pool and club, slamming! Outside lounge downstairs is very neat clean articulate and safe. Even the hallways carpet was plush... I felt like I was walking on marshmallows. I would be going on and on and on talkin about this place and how good it is in great it was but Im not...its five star spot BIG FACTS everything is exquisite beautiful & expensive-looking (your wallet or purse will be fine, trust me). Best Hotel/Suites Ive been too in Manhattan, NYC so far... I SECOND ANYONE BOOKS HERE. Do it, appreciatively worth it. 😁😊😁
I just came and I park my car outside and the manager call 911 and they just tow my carWorst customer service ever please guys don’t recommend this worst hotel in New York
Friendly front desk. The bar area near the welcome desk was nice. Prices decent for the area and good place to go for just a cocktail even if not a guess at the hotel.
Comfortable place recovering from Covid
ENJOY THIS HOTELS LOCATION AND OVERALL STAFF
1, was working at 4 am in the lobby, hotel staff stated that they did not entertain . guests in the communal area at night- they backed down when I asked if the owner knewrooms were stuffy so I had the front door an inch open with a door stopper. Only when I was in the room, but security kept knocking and entering unnecessarily- really bizarre2. I was waiting to sign a contract and was waiting for papers from the secretary of state . I renewed my reservation daily as didnt know when I was leaving, staff were really nasty about it.3. despsite having over 1000 in deposit and having stayed a few weeks staff were very nasty if I renewed my reservation even an hour late4. I should have moved out early but was working so much I thought I didnt have time and was not sure where else was open due to covid, big mistake5. Housekeeping never came. My room was clean, no food in room, but made a hige deal about there being clothes on the floor. Housekeeping came maybe once, and they blamed it on covid6. this was really the nastiest experience I have had in any hotel, and I travel for work .I have only written three bad reviews in the last five years7. the owners should be aware, that despite such a lovely space and location, the nastiness of the front desk staff made this an awful experience.8. No staff training in hospitality, no staff supervision and unpleasant characterreally horrible experience
Hotel room was very nice. My wife said it was very masculine. Rooms were updated and clean with the exception of finding a ball of hair in one of our towels which freaked my wife out. Called front desk and they were very apologetic and brought new ones right away. Gave 3 stars because the noise transmission through the walls seem to be higher than other hotels I visited. I could hear people walking above me which I found her strange. Overall good experience
Beautiful hotel in NYC
We booked our stay at the renaissance hotel under the pretense of lies upon lies. Understandably covid 19 changes the dynamic of certain circumstances but this hotel blatantly lied about their own. We call to inquire about the fitness center and the pool twice before our actual visit and we were told they were both open but upon arrival we were told they were not but they have an ice machine downstairs. There were close to no amenities provided, if we did not inquire about being charged for said amenities the cost would’ve remained on our bill. By the third night there was no hot water available to shower properly and which was the final straw in our short stay. This hotel lacks resources others have during these times and makes up for it with lies and deception.
Soon as I got into the room everything seemed pretty good...city room was good but as I inspected more I found chips and food on the floor. I reported it to the receptionist and all they said was they’ll refund me the cleaning fee since they couldn’t switch my room which they never did...
Nice clean room with a good veiw easy check in and out
What a great experience! We stayed 2 nights during these weird COVID times and couldnt be happier with our hotel choice. Our room was very stylish and I absolutely loved the view and floor to ceiling windows. Most of amenities are closed, like in all the other hotels of NYC, but the rooftop on the 39th floor is open and honestly I think its the best view of Manhattan (pretty much 360). We didnt even want to explore the city, you can just chill here all day! Rooftop bartender Victor was so great! Very welcoming and professional! Everyone who works in the hotel is so helpful, friendly, chill and treats you with respect. We had a truly pleasant experience from beginning to the end. I would definitely recommend it to everyone and would come back again!
THIS is what you think of when you think of a luxury hotel. The hotel staff were super friendly and engaging. The view and music on the rooftop lounge was poppin as the kids say. The rooms were immaculate and the decor...you just have to see it. This is the hotel standard you should hold all other hotels to.
This has to be the best hotel ever. I had a great time and the hotel looks amazing. I highly recommend this place.
I stood at the Renaissance new york Chelsea hotel for one day, my check in day and did not like my stay or how the lady receptionist at the front desk during check-in treated me like I was there for a free ride instead of being their to protect my loved ones as I worked at the hospital with Covid. So I NEVER returned.. The location was too far from the hospital where I worked and they asked me how long I would be staying and what days and when as if they didnt know about how the contract worked. I felt very uncomfortable! I will never visit that establishment ever again even if it was a year for free for being an essential worker.
Fantastic brand new hotel. Very centric. Nice facilities. Despite a few details to be fixed (they opened recently), it is already a phenomenal choice. The staff is amazing, especially the people at the front desk, who helped in every possible way, and Chris, who was very kind with us when checking in/out. Excellent!
I stay at many hotels and would not stay here again. The biggest issue was the noise. It was so loud in our room that we could hear every single conversation going on in rooms above and around us, even with earplugs in. The service was also pretty poor.
Great hotel. My room was beautiful. The view was magnificent. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. My husband and I are looking forward to visiting again in the warmer weather when we can check out the roof top bar.
Amazing! Staff, Views, layout, rooms, interior decorating, location... Recommended!
Hmmm...overall it is a good experience however I did have to ask to change rooms because the first room I was put im was falling apart. It looked like the building was built in a rush and that room was just an example of the rush job.. They were very courteous. The lobby was beautiful very instagramable.I do not like the butler menu setup they have for Breakfast. I feel the only good thing is that someone brings up your food for you. Seeing as the restaurant is closed due to covid we had to venture out further to get some food. I found sound really nice places to eat because of it.I may come here again...not anytime soon
Im trying to book this hotel coz it really looks good. But I am wondering, why is it charging a Resort fee? What feature of the hotel is a resort?
I cannot recommend the Chelsea Renaissance hotel enough! We had a last minute change in our wedding plans due to COVID. Instead of having a big wedding in California, we decided to elope at home with our immediate family. We wanted to get out of our apartment so we booked two nights at this hotel, and they treated us like royalty!First off, we had two rooms - a regular king and a corner king. The corner king was a bit more spacious than the regular and had magnificent views of the city-scape. Both rooms were very clean and comfortable (working AC/heat, hot water, water pressure, etc). The location of the hotel was great - you can go pretty much everywhere you need to in a hurry! Just around the corner from the Flat Iron and High Line and about a mile from the West Village and Midtown. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us during our stay. We had a couple of deliveries (planned and surprised), that they handled with care, brought champagne/chocolates to our room, gave us a generously late checkout, and did just about anything we asked, including letting our family on the roof (which was reserved for just guests to help protect from coronavirus) and sending our photographer/make up artist/etc up without us having to come down (the elevator is key access). They were kind, so incredibly helpful, and all followed covid protocol (mask wearing, etc). I felt very comfortable and safe with the staff.Speaking of the roof- they have seriously undersold themselves! It has breathtaking views of the Empire State Building and about 360 degrees of Manhattan. It has a rooftop pool (which currently wasnt in service) and bar. The picture included in my review was taken on the roof. The price per night was affordable - I felt like we paid a lot less than the service we received. They do have a nightly resort fee, but pricing is still competitive after this is tacked on. We will totally return for our next stay-cation!A special shoutout to the bartender on the roof, Victor, who made us feel like CELEBRITIES and played our wedding song for us to dance to when we were having a nightcap since we didnt get the festivities of a typical wedding. He stayed open late for us and went over the moon to accommodate us.Also, a very special thank you to the concierge and front desk staff, especially Omar and Matt (I think was his name). We will never forget your kindness!
Amazing location between Chelsea and Nomad. Largest king size room in Manhattan between 24-30 Square meters with dream views over the Empire State Building & the Hudson yards from floors 30-36.Expect some conflicts as it is a new hotel but you will forget everything as hotel staff is super friendly! In spring time an amazing roof top will be open! Ps: less than 10 minutes walk two of the best options for breakfast & coffee in Manhattan.Ralph’s coffee & Sullivan bakery.
The hotel its self was very nice but my bed sheets had blood on it when I checked in and the guy at the front desk said that the people who clean the rooms could not change it and he didnt offer me a new room. On top of that the alarm went off at 6am for a whole hour! And I was not able to go back to sleep. They charged me extra 25 dollars for services I did not use !!
Nice Hotel Experience! I Enjoyed The Weekend In NY .. Hotel Staff Was Also Amazing
