Sadly had a bad experience. Brought 2 suede shoes for polishing. They charged me 35 dollars each and they way they brushed it / chemical they used ruined the shoe.I got no refund and expected a basic apology but they didn’t even do that. The lady was no apologetic nor did she really care. You can see the fabric damaged at the bottom of the shoe
John is nothing short of a miracle worker. I have been a customer for well over a decade and he never disappoints. Shoes, boots, purses, fanny packs (!) knapsacks, and most recently a delicate leather jacket was ripped beyond the seam. Flawless repair.
Been bringing my shoes and bags to be repaired here for 20 years and have never been disappointed. These guys have always done an amazing job.
Always a great experience! John and everyone who works at Hectors Shoe Repair on Greenwich Ave are wonderful cobblers! I have brought my favorite winter boots and my everyday work shoes there several times to replace the sole and have them polished, and they have always come out looking like new! I recently brought my leather bag to see if they could add straps to make it into a convertible purse/backpack and I love the results and have been wearing it everyday since. Thank you!!!
I have been wearing this belt (a hand-me-down from the early 2000s) for 6 or 7 years and after some warning signs, the part holding the buckle finally tore. I was worried that it was unfixable, or that some of the length would need to be sacrificed in order to re-bolt it onto the buckle. Hectors Shoe Repair fixed it without giving up any of the length. I had no idea they could add the leather piece as seen in the photo. The piece where the buckle attaches is stronger than ever. My belt has been preserved! They also punched two holes extra in my spare belt on the spot. Very nice people, turn around for the repair was quick, price was very reasonable!
There’s no better show repair. I grew up on that block with Hector doing all my shoes. I then moved to Miami, to quickly realize that not all shoemakers are great at their craft:( I now fly in and take my shoes to Hector. I will never have another shoe repair touch my good shoes ever again.
Hector is the best in the business at what he does. I still travel from far away to come to his shop.Pricing is fair for NYC - and he can rush if you need it.
What a legend! Had 2 pairs of shoes resoled and heeled 3 months ago, worn them regularly and they have been great. The job was a work of art. I went back the other day to tell the guy how happy I was with his craft. He was pleased with the feedback. I thought I had better write a review and share the quality experience!
Best cobbler Ive been to in the city. They do a really good job on resoling, and have fixed places where my shoes wore down past the stacked heel just perfectly. At least for shoes and short boots, they do a free clean and polish with every repair job. Great prices too. I cant recommend these guys enough.
The best cobbler in the business hands down! Ive been going to them for over 20 years. Ive followed them from location to location. John is a craftsman. Any idea I come up with they can do or fix. He takes pride in his work. Hectors is the only place I trust with my shoes...
Best Cobbler in NYC. My favorite boots were re-crafted here with dainite soles, which are impossible to find most of the time. They actually stock them! The work and attention to detail was excellent. Fantastic people and fair prices. Thank you very much John!
Searched for an excellent cobbler to take me shoe to. This place, far from it. I brought in beat up (only the soles) work Oxfords inquiring about the cost to repair them. The first person to greet me was a woman who didnt speak English well. That is fine because her husband or one might assume Hector is interrupted as she goes over to him to translate. He picks up one of the shoes and said $80. Now I understand if these shoes were high-end brand and top of the line. They were not. These Alfanis cost me $100. For $80, I might as well have just bought a new pair. Mind you, only the soles needed patching up. *** Customer service is lacking.
Completely worth the hype and prices; this place is fast, thorough and trustworthy. I paid $40 to add rubber soles to brand new shoes (for traction and to make them last longer) and re-heeled worn boots for $12. Both were completely worth it.
Love Hectors. Theyve revitalised a lot of shoes for me in the short months since discovering them: replacing worn heels and soles, completely cleaning and making like new a wrecked pair of leather boots (after a muddy Governors Ball), and also meticulously stitching up a beloved pair of ballet flats.Theyre reliable, trustworthy and very reasonable. Ive only ever been quoted a high amount when there was genuinely a lot of work to be done to completely re-sole what was a cute a pair of ankle boots with admittedly poor quality cardboard glued-on soles. And they seem like a sweet family business to boot (pun intended)!
Terrible service - highly discourage anyone from using them. Did not speak English well which resulted in them doing completely unrequested work on the shoes and refusing to fix their mistake without an additional charge.
Always solid shoe repair. I took them a belt to shorten, and they seemed to get a kick out of it, too. Delightful people.
Try to ask a simple question over the phone and get talked over without listening to what youre trying to say. Dont waste your time. The city is full of shoe repair shops.
Great job they do on shoes and bags, i realy think they are the best in Manhattan.
Hes the best in the city
Best in the business!
The best.
