Selene restored and altered my husband’s grandmother’s (almost 100 y.o.) wedding dress in time for a small marriage ceremony we did during the pandemic in November 2020.Given the state of the dress, I really didn’t think I’d be able to wear it, but Selene did an amazing job and brought us and my grandmother in law so much joy with the photos we showed her. A priceless job, and one I’ll be forever grateful for!

Selene did such an amazing job on my bridesmaids dress for my sisters wedding! She had to take a huge section out of the middle of the dress so that it would fit my torso height, which involved removing the entire zipper and repositioning it. Youd never know anything was done to the dress! It was so seamless. Really good quality work and very quick turnaround (only a week). She also made sure I was 100% happy with the dress on the day of pickup and even took another part in for me same-day for a perfect fit. Her prices are super reasonable too!

Selene was wonderful. She was always very clear about what she could and couldnt do and how much it would cost. She listened closely to what I needed (and there were several changes I needed to make!) and did everything she could to make the dress not only fit beautifully make me feel comfortable in it. Selene essentially saved my day and a lot of stress. Basically my dress was from Pronovias NYC, and they botched the alterations and gave me a hard time. I went home near tears, but found Selene. I went in (she took me like next day, two weeks before my wedding), she calmed me down, looked me straight in the eye and said she can fix it. It was so bad, we couldnt even zip it, we couldnt find the bustle, it was crooked - it was so bad that luckily there was no cut fabric. I highly recommend Selene - she got it right, my dress was perfect and I was expecting only almost perfect because the disaster she had to deal with. She was overall amazing and listened to how I wanted the dress to look, but also gave me realities and truth about the fabric, the corset and what she could do, the train and that I needed a three point bustle - just overall a professional and new her stuff. She turned around things so quickly and always made sure I was happy with it and comfortable at the quick fittings. Thank you Selene!

Selene is such a sweet, lovely lady and I only have good things to say about her. She was my fairy godmother and did such an amazing job on making my wedding dress fit perfectly. When I did my final fitting, my dress fit like a glove and I had her add on off shoulder sleeves and they were exactly how I wanted. She even found extra lace for the sleeves that matched my dress spot on. Long story short, I bought my wedding dress online, and it was the last dress and closest to my actual size. I found Selene Bridal Alterations, and Im telling you Selene knows what to do right away. She got my dress a size down, and it fits me like a glove. A little pricy but definitely worth it and I would go to her again. If you want to look your best on the wedding day, definitely come here!

I brought a pair of lululemon pants to Selena to be hemmed and taken in around the ankles.I was a little nervous it wasn’t possible due to the integrity of exercise fabrics. Although she wasn’t able to create the same stitch, it requires a special machine she doesn’t have ( which she told me upfront and I was okay with) she honestly did the best job! I am very pleased with my garment and her services. Turn around time was quick, I had them back within a day.

Selene is amazing, i cant say enough about her.She did a great job on my Lillian West wedding dress.I was 5 months pregnant and my body kept changing,I bought my dress two weeks prior my wedding day.I took my dress to a different Alter and was a huge disappointment, they made it so tight on my top and sleeves, i was not able to lift my arms.The back of my dress felt like it would explode, I was so angry.In that point i had to buy a new dress which was a nightmare since i loved my designer and had no other dress on my size.The alters left no fabric to bring it back to make it slightly bigger so i had to pray and be on a strict diet to fit on it after two weeks.On my case was almost impossible cause my pregnancy was developing every week and i would definitely become bigger in two weeks.I was devastated and i knew it wouldnt fit in two weeks .And here comes my saver Selene.After i explained to her my situation and she made it seems with her knowledge and patience that she would make it happen and not to worry.She found a way to open the sleeves and sew the top of the dress from the begging in just few days and made it fit perfectly on my body and had even a little space in case i grew bigger than I thought.She made me so happy and i felt beautiful and comfortable.She knew exactly how to alter my wedding dress and just in one week before the wedding,.I highly recommend her magician hands to every future bride or bridesmaid.

Selene is my go-to for all dress alterations. She always knows exactly what to do whether it needs to be taken in, shortened or tweaked slightly to make it the perfect fit. I used to live in the East Village which is when I discovered her and now I live in Brooklyn but still make the trek back to visit her when I need alterations. Planning any wedding is hectic! Especially when you decide to elope and get married overseas in less than 2 months! Selene was an absolute blessing and miracle worker. I was so worried that my dress could not be altered in such a short time frame (it was rather long and big), but somehow Selene transformed my dress just in time for me to travel to Paris. She was so sweet to work with and always greeted my family (my mother and grandmother) with open arms. I walked in to her store a worried mess and left feeling (and looking) like a princess! I wish I had a before and after image to really justify how much work went into the alterations. Not only did she alter the dress to fit me, but Selene also added my belt to fit perfectly on the dress. Ive had two amazing experiences at Selene Bridal!! For my wedding, I bought a non traditional beaded gown. As a petite women, I needed significant alterations on the straps and sides. From the moment I came into her shop with my dress, Selene made me feel at ease about the tailoring process. With two fittings, she was able to make the dress look great on and make me feel confident! My next visit was for a bridesmaid dress with a deep plunge neckline. Being small chested, I needed Selene to reshape the whole top of the dress. She did this wonderfully and again I left her shop feeling great! Id highly recommend Selene Bridal to anyone looking for an experienced tailor with a great eye for dresses !

SELENE IS A MAGICIAN and I absolutely cannot recommend her enough. I brought her my wedding gown that had been all but ruined by a previous tailor, and she was able to fully reconstruct it. When I first brought her the gown, she asked me “do you love this dress?” Because the amount of work required to fix it would be substantial and she wanted me to know that I had other options (i.e. start over with a new dress!) if I didn’t want to spend the time and money to do so. I really appreciated this honesty and her integrity as a business owner, which was consistent from start to finish. She ended up completely fixing my previously-ruined reception gown (it is now PERFECT!), as well as my after party gown and a gown for the rehearsal dinner. She does gorgeous custom work, is extremely accommodating, and easily helped me realize a vision for this day that I didn’t even realize I had. She is amazing. Thank you Selene!!

Friendly, and they do great work.I first visited Selene to have a bridesmaid dress hemmed at the last minute. They did an excellent job, finished quickly, and charged a fair price.I returned to Selene for alterations on my wedding dresses. I could not be more pleased. My primary wedding dress had two layers -- a slip and a lace overlay. It was pretty form-fitting and I didnt want to wear a bra, so the fit of the slip was important. The lace also needed to be altered and hemmed. Selene was not only able to fit the slip layer perfectly, but expertly hem the lace and create a bustle for both layers that looked lovely in my wedding pictures. I highly recommend visiting this shop -- Ill be back to have my work clothes altered soon!

I was referred to Selene through a friend of a friend and am so happy with the results! My crepe wedding gown had a draped open back that I was hoping to raise or find a solution for holding up my bust. She convinced me to leave the back open and expertly sewed a bra into the front and the results could not have been better (or more comfortable)! The shop is small, but I preferred the intimate experience because I knew my dress was the focus each time I visited. Highly recommend!

I came in with a simple silk dress, just needed it taken in on the sides and bottom.1. The woman running the place is rude and doesn’t care about your needs. I am a very patient and kind person. She is not.2. I went back four different times and still on the day I had to pick up my dress, less than two weeks before my wedding, it still had pins in it.3. They don’t steam the dress for you either.4. Prices are way too high.Go anywhere else!

Selene and her mother are absolutely wonderful! I had two couture wedding dresses arrive to me much, much larger than I expected after sending in incorrect measurements accidentally to the dress designer overseas. One of the dresses was an asymmetrical chiffon gown, so delicate and light that it weighed less than a pencil! I thought preserving the integrity of the design would be impossible. Selene answered my frantic call, had me come in the same day for a fitting, and worked with me on a very tight timeframe of two weeks to my wedding day. Her prices are fair, she is accurate with her time estimates, and needless to say, I am writing this review because she truly saved the day and tailored my delicate dresses perfectly to match my figure. She even consulted with and worked together with her mother, another lifetime professional seamstress, to make sure the jobs were done right. I am forever grateful to Selene Bridal Alterations for making it possible for me to wear my dream wedding dress in the couture fashion it was intended.

I am really surprised at how many good reviews selene has received. I should note that I did not get alterations done here. We didnt even get that far into the process due to the fact that she was incredibly rude. During the fitting process Selene alluded to the fact that I should lose weight. Saying all brides lose weight before the wedding. I am perfectly happy in my body and was very taken aback that she said that to me. She then proceeded to ask me if my dress was used... which I thought was also a strange question to ask, it made me feel like she felt my dress looked old when it was in fact brand new. Things got stranger when I needed to use the bathroom and she made a point to let me know the bathroom typically isnt for outside use. It did not make me feel very welcomed, I had come all the way from Jersey and had to use the restroom. Then she said she needed to get a cup of coffee but proceeded to stand outside her shop and smoke and cigarette and then come straight back in pulling in the cigarette smoke smell with her. I could see her right through the glass window! I dont know when she lied about it, and I was disappointed that I could smell the smoke so strongly when I had my wedding dress on in there. Those scents can stick and linger! Finally I felt her cost for alterations was pretty high. She wanted to hem the dress and take in the bust and it was going to cost me $700! I feel I am a very relaxed and non-emotional person and I left there feeling very upset by the way I was treated. I am not sure why she spoke to me that way and did the things she did but I could not recommend her to anyone.

She did not want to give me a detailed breakdown of what she would be doing to my dress. No bueno! I need to have this in writing so, that I know what Im agreeing to. I need to know what will be done to my dress. And she smokes, so I did not want my dress smelling like tobacco.

Quite frankly I initially was very worried about my experience. I lost about 10 or so pounds from the time I ordered the dress to when it arrived. Then in the process of altering the dress, the weight continued to melt off. So every time I went in to try on the dress, it looked horrible. Selene did tell me it is a process honey, dont worry but believe you me, I was worried. Well 4 fittings later, the dress is PERFECT. The dress was not easy, nor was I but Selene & her crew did a great job. Id recommend them without hesitation.
